ps. If you actually want me to play Torment, saying "the story-heavy games you enjoy suck" is about the worst way you could possibly go about doing it.
I have kind of given up on it to be honest >_> and I know for a fact that you will hate the gameplay there, so it goes. It is less that XG is bad and that they are completely different (noting that this is like... before we had things like Shadow Hearts 2 even out) . Most people that used to put them head to head missed that and did actually tend to hype things like Id and Grahf for being the greatest ideas instead of stuff like really delivering on their Make Room! Make Room! references, villains that plot behind 2 or 3 layers of puppets that the game lets the player in on instead of being Zenormous. To this day I still love that the party heals themselves by rubbing reprocessed human bodies on their wounds and continue to do so even after the reveal. I only poke and prod about it because I like reading your views on things and a man should work towards his dreams even if they are futile. Grahf is in fact not the bestest and is a charismatic curtain that both Miang and Krelian hide behind at various points. Id is even less amazing and is even more a force of nature than Grahf. They are fine in game, but when you are going to be talking about subtle character presentation (because you are comparing to Torment...) you could focus on Miang and Citan and maybe stay away from things like Jesse Cannon. Back in the day people repped the game entirely the wrong way (Like I apparently do for Torment now!).
Edit - None of this is directed at Elf's current recap! It is fun and covers the points fine. Only point of Elf's that I mean to note is really how little you mention the gameplay, both as a mix of how sparse it can be at times. Also amusing that the stuff you feel the need to comment on the most is Gear battles.
I can't even be mad at you for getting bored with Torment and stopping playing Snowfire. It is a hard game to play these days and it isn't the story that does it. The gameplay is significantly worse than XGs that is for sure, which is really a thing.
"What can change the nature of a man?" isn't so much a line as a mission statement, a theme and the line delivered at the climax of the plot. It has a lot going on with it in game.

Welcome to why I refuse to play any WRPG outside of the Baldur's Gate series.
That is fine, you can deprive yourself of good things that you can pick up incredibly cheaply because you don't like the way the wind blows if you like.
