Week 1 - Eliminations

Necron (FF9) Necron vs Claude Kenni Claude Kenni (SO2)

Laggy
Claude may get first hit. He's not OHKOing Necron, even with an Aura Bladed Mirror Slice. Necron, while having fantastically bad durability, is not THAT weak. One Blue Shockwave and 3 Neutron Rings later, our dear ensign has "advanced forward" to the next life.

Necron: 23
Claude Kenni: 6

Shale
Necron might not be the original PC-killer, but he's among the best. An insane speed level, Blue Shockwave, and the nonelemental, nonevitable Neutron Ring follow-up spell the end of Ensign Kenni's season.

Serge (CC) Serge vs Orlandu, Cidolfas Orlandu, Cidolfas (FFT)

Halbarad
Poor Serge... Not only did he have the poor luck to draw Orlandu in his opening match of the season, but Leena had threatened grave bodily harm if he got knocked out in the first round... again.

With a vague sense of dread the bandana-bedecked youth entered the ring, his Mastermune at the ready. His opponent stood on the far side, his legendary sword sheathed at his side.

"Feel free to start whenever you're ready," Orlandu called across the arena.

Serge nodded gratefully. A quick series of swipes with his swallow, and the general staggered back a few steps... seizing his chance, Serge levitated high above the arena, a giant image of his swallow appearing in front of him as he unleashed his most powerful technique, Luminaire, on Thunder God Cid.

When the dust had finally settled, Orlandu stood in the same exact position as ever, looking as fresh as if Serge had never touched him.

"I absorb Holy-elemental attacks, thanks to Excalibur." he said to the perplexed fisherman with a smirk.

With a sigh of disgust, Serge hurled his Mastermune to the floor of the arena and stalked out, giving Orlandu the match by default. He was later seen in the streets of Termina, inquiring about where he might acquire a hard hat.

Serge: 1
Orlandu, Cidolfas: 33

Shale
It takes a monumental stretch of the imagination to believe that Serge's living blade Mastermune would be easy for Orlandu to break.

Sadly, his armor isn't so lucky.

Laggu
SLAUGHTER. Utter, bloody, SLAUGHTER.

Tack one for the Thunder God.

Asgard (WA3) Asgard vs Riou Riou (S2)

El Cideon
One would think that with an opponent as dangerous as Riou, Asgard's programming would immediately analyze the Jowston leader's offensive capabilities to determine the safest course of action. Instead, the golem took a more unorthodox approach and begin with the following facts:

[Target name: Riou
Species: Human
Subspecies: Bishie
World of origin: Suikoverse]

Collating these brought the android to the following conclusion:

[Possible weakness: Yaoi]

[Deploy decoy, designation "Jowy"]

--- What followed is not appropriate to repeat here. Suffice it to say that Riou was soon too distracted to continue the match, and Asgard won his opening round fight without either side taking a scratch.

Asgard: 14
Riou: 4

Laggy
Invincible barriers > mute protagonists

Lucia (Suikos) Lucia vs Miguel Miguel (CC)

Laggy
Lucia's triplecasted fire rune spells will hurt. Miguel hitting with two HolyDragonSwds on a TurnBlacked victim will hurt far, far more.

Lucia: 10
Miguel: 14

Rolf Landale (PS2) Rolf Landale vs Leo Leo (Lunar2)

Laggy
"You need a spanking!" Leo roared, launching into a Soul Blade attack as he thrust the Nameless Sword at Rolf.

Rolf just glanced at the incoming White Knight, smiled, and casted Megid.

Rolf Landale: 16
Leo: 4

Shale
Rolf is much faster, hits much harder, and heals much better. Game, set, and match, in that order.

Cloud Strife (FF7) Cloud Strife vs Emeralda Emeralda (XG)

Shale
Emerelda can hit Cloud hard, and hit first. Then she can sit back and die after the Cross-Slash counter and its Stop effect take hold.

Cloud Strife: 29
Emeralda: 4

Laggy
Cross Slash makes me sad :( *gives one for the spiky-haired dumbass*

Lede (FFT) Lede vs Ramsus, Kahran Ramsus, Kahran (XG)

Shale
Ramsus falls to anything that's not a brute physical blow. And since Ultima falls more into the category of "arcane magical doom," well...

Lede: 24
Ramsus, Kahran: 8

Laggy
All I can say is, after Ramsus pulls himself together from the -trash- heap he is, he'll have this little voice echoing in his mind: "Brush off vanity and show reality! Ultima!" Over. And over. And over. Ad naseum.

Tosh (AtLC) Tosh vs Wren Wren (PS4)

Shale
Tosh: Game-high strength and speed, game-low defense.
Wren: Game-high strength and defense.

Looks like a fair match, right? It might be., if it weren't for Wren's nasty little "Recover" skill. I'm inclined to give the win to the guy who can fully heal himself twenty times over... S

Tosh: 4
Wren: 16

superaielman
Tosh can't overcome all that healing. A pity.

Izlude Tingel (FFT) Izlude Tingel vs Dekar Dekar (Lufia2)

Shale
As long as Izlude's in the air, Dekar ain't hitting $#%@. Granted, he can't dodge every strike, but with his decent HP, he doesn't need to. By the time Dekar gets close to whittling his opponent down, he's already done.

Izlude Tingel: 17
Dekar: 12

Tylor H
Mistake Number 1: Dekar bringing his true love into a match against a sword breaking FFT Knight.
Mistake Number 2: Izlude smiting Dekar's one true love, sending him into a berserker rage.
Mistake Number 3: Dekar, forgetting that Izlude could jump, getting up too much momentum to stop himself before he ran right out of the ring.

Laggy
JUMP, he did. LAND, he did. DEAD, Dekar was.

DragoonJay
Knowing Dekar, he'd just forget that he can't hit a Jumping opponent and beat Izlude in the air..

Sara (BoF1) Sara vs Umaro Umaro (FF6)

MeepleLard
The two combatants entered the Arena, Umaro aided by his coach Mog, whom he had taken to calling "Master."

Sara was aided by Jade, the one who possessed her mind for so long. Apparently, she had no choice but to use him as a coach.

"Remember our plan, Sara. This should be an easy win for you."

"But... it feels wrong..."

"Oh, don't worry, it's perfectly fine."

"If you say so," she said, not seeming convinced.

And on the other side....

"Now Umaro, just..."

"Uwaaaaaaah!"

"...why do I bother, Kupo? Your just going to be beserk like always," Mog sighed and shook his head.

"Master, me win fight now, Ugaaaah!"

As the bell rang, Umaro charged at his opponent head on as she immediately transformed into the form of a White Dragon.

"Sara, do it now!" Jade called.

"Yes, my lord..." she intoned, clearly under his control...

Glowing, she fired a gale spell at Umaro, but what people didn't notice is Jade, under his robes, actually charged a BoltX, and fired it at the same time, hiding it in the Blast. A big explosion occurred. Jade smiled as he knew his favorite "slave" had won...or so he thought...

An irate Umaro sat there, unscathed.

"What the... how did you survive THAT blast?"

"Kupo, Sara's Magic is pathetic! Everyone knows that, Kupo!"

"Quiet, you stuffed animal! My BoltX is far stronger...err... wait, I didn't mean to say that..."

"Kupo! Kyou-po cheated! Helping your client like that! And kupopopo! If you bothered to study Sara's opponent, you'd know Umaro is immune to her magic, Kupo!"

"Uwaaaaaah!"

"Why you little!"

As Jade charged up another BoltX aimed for Mog, he was crushed as he heard on the speakers, "And the winner, by disqualification from interference, Umaro!"

"Darn! I would have succeeded, too if you wasn't for you meddling moogle and your yeti!" Jade scowled as he teleported away.

Sara: 8
Umaro: 16

Squall Leonheart (FF8) Squall Leonheart vs Vaynard Vaynard (Brig)

Dunefar
Lionheart against Caladbolg. The White Wolf agaisnt a SeeD. Fairly close battle, right? Sure...except that because Vaynard counters each attack, Squall is taking two hits to each one of his. A damn shame that last counter killed him just before he got his limit

Squall Leonheart: 9
Vaynard: 10

Laggy
255% autocriticalling attacks and a limit break that murders anything below Godlike short of strips the need of magic here. One for the SeeD gunblade specialist.

Tifa Lockheart (FF7) Tifa Lockheart vs Cristo Cristo (DW4)

superaielman
Cristo's far from being what one would call an offensive powerhouse, but he sure is good at taking abuse. Having survived the position of Alena's whipping boy over all these years, what right-minded person would think he'd even flinch at Tifa's flurry of blows? Several thwacks from his weapon and a fewcastings of Upper later, Cristo moves on, while Tifa is left wondering if she should have worn her orthopedic undies.

Tifa Lockheart: 7
Cristo: 14

Katt (BoF2) Katt vs Badrach Badrach (VP1)

Meeple
Before the match, in the Light Waiting room, while Middle battles were going on, Katt was sitting with her friend (and rival) Nina.

"You know, Katt, if we both win, we'll be facing each other two weeks from now. I don't know if I can fight a friend..."

"Oh, Come on, Nina, are you going soft on me? I'm looking foward to pounding...err....facing off. Come on, it'll be a friendly match..."

The bell had rung, and Izlude and Dekar had just finished thier match, and had gone to Chisato for thier usual post match comments.

"Well, Katt, it looks like your up next. Just as a little reminder, I heard this guy does...mean things...to woman..."

"Oh, relax, Nina, you can't honestly think I'll fall for something like that! Anyway, after this match, I'm sure Ryu will be...err...I mean, I'm sure I will...oh darn, I should just go and fight, shouldn't I?"

"yes, you should..."

Katt had entered the Arena, with the usual "Katt! Katt!" chant the audience had. Badrach had entered, with being booed.

"Aw, Hell with this, I'll get you all to like me...whoa? Look at the babe I'm fighting. They must be giving me an easy fight, that, or rewarding me for all my hard efforts..." Badrach said.

"What the...are you...trying to..." Katt said, unable to fnish the line, in her usual "speak first, think later" approach.

Bell Rings

"Sorry to do this but...Your Dead Gal! Death Blow! Sphere Strike!" he yelled, Blasting Katt half way accross the Stadium...

"Daaaah!" she went flying...

"Ouch! That's gotta hurt. Katt, you alright? Please tell me your not done yet!" Nina screamed...

When the Smoke Cleared, Katt was no longer herself, no, somehow, being hit by Badrachs attack caused a chain reaction, and turned her into this much more muscular, leener, Blue demon looking cat...

"Whoa, and I thought she was bablishish before. I should do that more often to women..."

"DIE!!!!" She said kicking him in the face, smacking him so hard..

"What, no way! I can't die again!" Badrach said, turning into blue energy like all Einhejar do when they die.

"That...bastard...Grr..."

Nina was thinking to herself "Note to self: Never blast Katt with magic unless I'm sure it'll put her down for the count. Shamanized Katt's are not fun to fight..."

Katt: 24
Badrach: 2

Nina Wyndia (BoF2) Nina Wyndia vs Josh Kain Josh Kain (PS2)

DragoonJay
Kain didn't need his wrecking equipment, but he brought it anyway. Bad move when your opponent can harness the power of electricity. A single BoltX set off all his equipment, making him (for a very short time) the hottest guy in the RPGDL.

Nina Wyndia: 19
Josh Kain: 4

Shale
Nina's made to hurt living things. Kain's made to dismantle machinery. One of these fighters is in her element, and you don't need that hint to know which.

Banon (FF6) Banon vs Maria Balthasar Maria Balthasar (XG)

DragoonJay
You know the maxim, "spare the rod and spoil the child"? Well, Maria isn't going to be spoiled anytime soon.

Banon: 23
Maria Balthasar: 10

Shale
I have Health! You can't kill me, no matter how much you hit!" Maria's reply was doubless witty and clever, but it was drowned out by the explosions of Seibzehn's missile battery. Such are the perils of war...

MOMO (XS) MOMO vs Mustadio Bunanza Mustadio Bunanza (FFT)

superaielman
Isn't flower power a funny thing? What's more funny is the headache a thwack to the head can give. MOMO thwacks, Musty cracks, and a robot beats an engineer.

MOMO: 15
Mustadio Bunanza: 11

Shale
Mustadio kindly asky MOMO not to move. She refuses. He insists. Y'know, with a gun.

Midget Tossing
Sue/Puffy vs. Umaro/Mog vs. Bowser/Mario vs. Ganz/Maru
~OK

superaielman
Umaro does a feat rarely seen in the RPGDL. Not only does he manage to beat one of the feared Breath of Fire dragons, he manages to _eat_ every projectile thrown out. So while Sue cries and Bowser laughs, Umaro tosses Mog three feet and wins the bonus match.

Sue/Puffy: 6
Umaro/Mog: 13
Bowser/Mario: 11
Ganz/Maru: 1

DragoonJay
Unless another competitor can access infinite flight capabilities, Mario and Bowser simply can't lose this competition. The power of the P-Wing propels them to victory, post-haste.

Chipstick85@aol.com
Anyone who has looked at the velocity at which Umaro sends his allies flying towards the enemy in FF6 will know that he has this in the bag. With a simple push his allies gain awesome speed and are still going upwards when they hit the enemies. I don't know about you, but I can throw further than I can push so if Umaro were to do that I'm guessing he'll be tossing Mog back in FF5.
