It's a special kind of total offensive ineptitude at work that not even the 0-16 Lions displayed. They only turned the ball over once, too, so their lack of possession is just sheer failure at moving the ball.

I understand how they beat the Browns despite 5 turnovers, but the Ravens are designed to win if they manage multiple takeaways.

As someone who mostly follows NBA basketball, I'm always amazed by how quickly which teams are good in the NFL changes. In the NBA a team going from "first-round exit" to "second-round exit" after four years is startling. In the NFL a team can go from "first-round pick" to "Superbowl contender" to "lottery pick" in that span. o_o

It's not really that surprising. Basically every team is just a few key positions away from being a contender, and sometimes all it takes are a few missed injuries or getting hot at the right time of the year.

There were a lot of terrible calls in that game, certainly not exclusive to that one play, but I think that just highlighted the whole night. I hope this makes the NFL act less dumb and just grab some new refs.

Other then the blatant pass interference call they missed...(which is not reviewable right?) I feel that Tate grabbed the ball the same time Jennings got TRUE possession of that jump ball.

I know no one wants to hear things like that, but Jennings should have never tried to catch that ball in the first place. He should have swatted it backwards, out of bounds, so nothing of that level of absurdity could have happened.

Yeah, Jennings should have just knocked the damn thing down (or away, but "away" is tricky with a football) - likewise the Ravens kicker should not have hooked a 24-yard try so high and to the right that they needed replay to confirm that it was good.

Problem is that the "simultaneous catch" rule differentiates between control and possession - if one player gets control of the ball, even if he hasn't established possession yet, and another guy grabs hold of it before he completes the catch (by getting both feet on the ground while maintaining control), it's not simultaneous. Both players need to get hold of the ball at the same time.

Regardless, even the NFL has officially admitted we got screwed by the no-call on blatant OPI. They've got to do SOMETHING at this point. DHB got no call on a hit that left him unable to move for 15 minutes.

Wow is this is an abysmal year for quarterbacks for some teams. From both a general performance stance (Stafford), to bigger-than-usual single-game faceplants (Romo) to full blown QB-AIDS (the Jaguars (wow they have no better options than Gabbert), the Chiefs (BRADY QUINN OUR SAVIOR), and the Jets (Tebow-Time go)). I sincerely expect some hilarity coming in the future, possibly in the form of Vince Young. I also dread to think of what may happen if Matt Hasselbeck goes down for the Titans too. Am I leaving anyone out?

If there was ever a time in recent years where a quarterback would be justified in going postal on his offensive line, I think Kolb earned that right last night. How the hell is that team 4-1 with the schedule they've played?

God the Rams are frustrating. It feels like they are disproportionately good at getting extremely inopportune penalties. Rams are the pet team that I like but I rarely hold out hope for (as the announcers pointed out, they haven't had a winning record since 2006 before last night). Anyway, that game was pretty silly. Is the NFC West just the division of giant defensive struggles (due to some combination of good defense and hilariously bad offenses)?

Eagles fans did the exact same thing in 98. Possibly worse because they cheered for like twenty minutes as Irvin laid there and didn't move, then when they loaded him on one of those stretchers, and then when he was put in an ambulance. I think they also threw snowballs at him.
