Gigantor V2 -

There isn't any real reason for me to dislike the show, but something about it I can't ascertain just rubs me the wrong way and makes it hard to consider it worth putting on. As a result I ended up having most of this volume on in the background while playing EO2.

.hack//Quantum- Check the runes over.... yeah, that should be Tarvos. Then Hello Pai, I guess it is really you.

.hack still exists? Are they ever going back to game media or stick with trainwreck stupid anime plots?

They aren't one in the same? Link's story is pretty much worse than any of the anime out there. The plotting in the games is just as bad too, for different reasons.

Besides... .hack//roots didn't have Sakaki. Already a point in it's favor.

And it is only getting worse. There is at least two more installment for this series, one anime and one game. And it is to be expected they will turn out as stupid as LINK.

Star Driver- Master Asia, is Takuto spamming Chokyu Haou Denendan every episode not enough for?? Does the School of the Undefeated East needs publicity thus badly that you have to pay Bones to do more??

Combo attack? Seriously? Don't tell me that Domon/Master Asia and Takuto/Sugata are going to become interchangeable in doing Chokyu Haou Denendan if they ever appear in a same SRW.

Turn A Gundam:

Completed. I'm not too sure what to say other than "decent show with flaws". The time and attention given to every member of the cast is a definite plus, and I'm rather impressed with Loran A Gundam main character in a serious war story who is the hero/lynchipin of dozens of battles (as per normal) and has a kill count of... 2. Loran's pacifist run was really quite impressive!. The animation was a little aged but that is forgivable enough. I suppose I enjoyed it about as much as I did SEED? It's story benefits from the lack of forced drama, but the production specs are always something you look forward to in a mech show, to a certain degree.

The overall plot stays true to Gundam themes of spacers vs. earthers, while injecting enough political and character drama to be interesting but not drown out the overall premise. Generally competent even if I was annoyed with specific points (for example, people are just too easily let off the hook for actions that should result in severe punishment if not outright execution).

OG ep.25- YES THEY DID. And you can't imagine what they have encompassed in this episode. What you see in the 24 is the less of the evils on what is occuring in 25.

With my internet down for the last couple days and my comp sidelined for the next few days, been catching up on disc-based stuff I need to watch. Not being in the mood for comedic fare, I went with Texhnolyze. Ended up finishing it.

Goddamn I do not know what to say about it. The first episode was an absolute mess with only three lines of dialogue and less coherant than a Meeple rant. It built itself out of that, but man, bad start. However... it's distinctly the slow, plodding, navel-gazing type show I love and I'm glad I stuck with it. Despite being a mess at times and having more than a few holes, I was enthralled by it. The characters and the atmosphere in particular. The story is damn near impenetrable, but the plotting was decent despite occasional holes. Despite the problems with the end, each character that left hurt, and I found myself incredibly involved and saddened by it (in a good way) despite my misgivings about the show. Incredibly depressing though. In the end I still don't exactly know what to think about it. I might sour on it over time, I might not, but damn was it one hell of a ride. Not a masterpiece by any means, heavy-handed and problematic, but... goddamn enjoyable if you're in to that type of show. 9/10, I guess?

Next up Sky Crawlers and Mahoromatic, probably, as well as regualr ol' movies.

Watched a few episodes of Bokurano. Geez. It's every bit as depressing and emotional as I've heard.

Meh. I've always found Bokurano very life-affirming at the same time.

Sky Crawlers- Wow. I need to stop watching all heavy anime or I'm liable to shoot myself. Anyway, very good movie and I can see where the hype comes from. Drenched in metaphor, good aerial combat scenes, totally worth the 10 bucks I paid for the blu-ray.

Tailenders- As I was saying. Just completely fun as hell. Exactly as advertised. T-Rex on Rollerskates was as hilarious and random as expected, though painfully short. You could spend a half-hour doing more fun things maybe if you were doing all the things described in a Brawndo ad, all at the same time.

Hen Zemi ep 2- Hahaha. Man. So delightfully perverted and still manages to be pretty witty and smart about it. Recommended to Djinn or Jim or anyone who likes hilariously perverted stuff.

Welcome to the Space Show- Watching this later. Will edit in commentary.

Ended up watching Madoka Magica somehow. Good stuff, as several others have mentioned.

Watched a few episodes of another mahou shoujou, Nanoha, after being impressed by the 9 eps of Madoka that I watched. I've already forgotten what actually happened in Nanoha, but the magitech weapons were cool and it had a cute ferret.

Wait. 9 eps of Madoka? You haven't watched episode 10 yet? GO DO THAT NOW.

(Nanoha actually had the same director as Madoka, interestingly)

OG2: Okay, good, they didn't shoehorn in Neo Granzon. When Shu did his join-the-heroes-for-the-last-battle thing I started to worry.

Anyway, that finale was pretty great. Still fanservice fluff like the rest of the show, but it kept the ridiculousness going fast and furious and changed some things up in highly entertaining ways. The last fight goes in the complete opposite direction from OGs and is much better for it. And Vysaga finally did something! Yay!

Two things bug me: The random cameos at the start of episode 26 and the complete lack of Rampage Ghost in the entire series.

Wait, three things. What was Viletta piloting? She was in the fight, but Mai had R-Gun.

If you're referring to the last boss, he was a big part of why the finale was awesome. That's what I meant by going in a totally different direction.

Quite possible. If it came after the barrage of Robots Yet To Come (for reference: the Cry Wolves, Fighter Roar's crew, and Touma) in the opening minute, I missed it.
