Anime in Action subbed regular GGG FINAL (which was what I watched, in case I worded things badly), but I haven't seen anything regarding them subbing GGGFGGG. (Since the original FINAL was an OVA and GGGFGGG was a series, I'm unsure whether we're speaking at cross-purposes here or not...)

Grand Glorious Gathering is just GGGF recut for TV and with some recaps and Betterman footage spliced in.

I see. I appear to have gotten the wrong impression of it from somewhere, then. Although I do like recaps if they're done well, but I find myself doubting that that would be the case here. In any case, it seems there's no point hoping that someone will get around to subbing it then, so I can spend my hope on something more worthwhile.

Katanagatari Ep 2- Better than the first, still not wholly great. The fight was good, but the first half of the ep... I dunno what it is with me and this show. I guess I'm supposed to find the meta dialogue about catchphrases and writing to be funny, but it literally did nothing for me. Togame is still kind of meh, but they're starting to grow on me at least.

Caught up on FMA Brotherhood, I'm not intrigued. Wish I hadn't started until the series was done. Decided to watch Full Metal Panic too since a friend of mine told me how great it was like 12123 years ago. (I'd forgotten until I saw it listed right by FMA of course.) Basically, this show sucks.

The lead is too clueless even for someone born and raised in the military. The main chick is a moron who seemed to ignore all the crap that happened to her when she was kidnapped. The good guy team of good guys is now ignoring this chick who had her powers awakened and freaking taught the main how to use his weapons. And so on and so forth. The only redeeming quality is the banter between Uzru 2 and Uzru 6. (Or Urzu I forget.)

Lotsa HxH talk in here so I'm checking it out. 11 episodes in and I think I'm enjoying it a bit too much, but that's mainly because I am an absolute sucker for multiple stage tests that weed out participants. I find myself studying the dynamic of the test as much as watching the show. The characters are good enough to keep my interested and I am curious to see what they do with a lot of the other participants like the Ninja/Magician/Brothers/RookieSmasher.

I don't know a damn thing about 12 kingdoms, unfortunately.

Gurren... if you like cheesy shows about robots with over the top insanity, check it out. If that isn't your thing, try something else.

We're talking about the HxH manga, which has been scientifically proven to be 7.944x more awesome than the anime. It's much better paced and far more brutal than the anime.

Scar: Have you ever enjoyed a fantasy novel? If so pick 12 Kingdoms, it's basically an anime fantasy novel. Good stuff, highly recommended. (Usual disclaimer that it's a shojou piece, but not annoyingly so, and the quality is easily enough to not stain your masculinity at all for watching.) Gurren Lagan totally failed to grab me after 4 episodes or so. Felt like Disgaea, if you're down for a sorta-parody of giant mech shows I guess it's okay, just as Disgaea is a very anime-geeky parody of RPGs.

Gurren Lagann drops the parody elements about six episodes in to just be a kickass super-robot show.

This probably sounds terrible to people that watch lots of shows, but Gurren Lagann really needs to be watched to episode 8 to get an idea of its overall range and quality (it does more genre shifting later, but the first story arc is still a good overall summary of what the show is like)

Gurren Lagann is over the top show that is silly and is all about giant robots (eventually in SPACE) with giant drills winning through the power of extreme manliness. Yes Scar, you should watch Gurren Lagann.

I think I've seen some 12 Kingdoms. Red haired girl with a sword. People born from trees? Yeah, think I may have seen one or two episodes. I think. Either way from what I remember it was good.

That Gurren Lagann show sound very much like dbz only with mechs. How can that go wrong!?

Ah, well... My friend and I both picked an anime to watch. That was his choice, 12 Kingdoms was mine. He was the one who mentioned that it was DBZ'ish, so whatever. I'm pretty sure I will enjoy my pick more, but I'm all about equal opportunity!

Oh, 12 Kingdoms is awesome too. The only way you can go wrong is by not watching either one.
