Rerankings revisited!

Anyways, it was kind of bugging me for a while that both ideas for reranking actually never came up in a poll and that the both polls essentially asked the same question. Hal may have already started coding anyways, so this might just be for my sanity! Anyways, you can find the main arguments in: http://www.rpgdl.com/forums/index.php/topic,4485.0.html

Not much new to add. I don't feel shrinking the round robin really addresses the lack of excitement around the matches. Make it straightforward.

Also, for the record, the reason the other idea didn't make it onto the second topic was because it only had 2 votes (in a poll that lets people change votes) and 2 people speak up in favour of it... I asked in chat and people agreed it had clearly come in "third" and the tradition is to make the final poll between the two leading options.

In fairness, the heavy, heavy majority of votes were cast before the alternate versions were brought up (Well, there was the 3 person round robin, but that manages to combine the downsides of both potential revisions without any of the benefits). After my idea was brought up...well, there wasn't really heavy support for anything! I sign of general indifference, but at least the few people who posted noting that they don't vote now would noted that round robin being 1/3 of the size could change that.

I've stated it before, but again, I like the reduced Round Robin. The original reason for instigating changes in the site was due to the need to reduce the workload. While the writeups aren't a large increase in the amount of work we have, it's still counter-productive to that goal. The issue that the one-on-one writeups rerankings are trying to solve is the lack of interest. Personally, the part that always made me dislike the rerankings was the sheer number of matches. Cutting it down would go a long way towards making me care more about the individual matchups.

I thought the 1 on 1 matches weren't going to have attached writeups anyways.

To me, Going to 1-on-1 is changing 2 things.

Reducing the Round Robin reduces the number of contestants while maintaining the system, thereby allowing us to (semi-)scientifically gauge what the true negative factor in the old system was.

If this doesn't work after a half-year (28 weeks/4 Seasons), we can always go the rest of the way.

Voted for the round robin. I'm just not a fan of only having to win one match against a higher division fighter to upgrade.

Voted for one on one. Round robin just isn't getting any kind of interest as of now, so a new system seems ideal.

And if there's no more debate, I am going to close this tomorrow.
