Writeup Graveyard / Largo(vs. Sharon)
« on: April 19, 2008, 04:27:52 AM »
Largo respects the fighting spirit of his opponents, but there's only so far fighting spirit will get you. Sharon is a quick, deadly fighter...but she's also incredibly weak as far as defenses go, and that's where Largo holds the advantage. Trusting to his HP and defense to counter the speed imbalance, Largo will simply crush Sharon with his overbearing strength. And as every attack of Sharon's cuts into that HP reserve, Largo gets access to more and more deadly techniques, which will quickly deplete Sharon's paltry endurance. With this strategy in mind, Largo can quite easily avoid a Mystic Art and seize victory before Sharon can access her more deadly arts. Magic most likely will not play a role in this fight, so the God General has little to fear as far as that goes. There's much honor to be had in fighting some of the best, but after all is said and done Largo will win decisively and quickly, and ascend to the next level of fighting.

Writeup Graveyard / Tibarn (vs. Gwen)
« on: April 06, 2008, 10:34:50 PM »
Can a half-breed like a Valkyrie take down a true lord of the skies like Tibarn? Of course not. Without the disadvantage of having to spend time in human form, like most of his fellow Laguz, Tibarn is a force to be reckoned with in NR, and Gwen will find, as many have before her, that he can dominate any fight without breaking a sweat. His high stats and lack of any real exploitable weaknesses will serve him well in this battle. Gwen won't be able to keep up in a battle of the skies, as Tibarn can avoid anything she tries to do and counter quickly and efficently. Of course, she does have Overload and Shadow Ally....not that she'll live long enough to get much use out of them if Tibarn presses his assault, which he will. As long as Gwen is kept stunlocked and on the defensive, Tibarn will win, and you can bet that he'll know exactly how to handle his only contestant for a coveted title in NR Heavy.

Writeup Graveyard / Chuck (vs. Brusom)
« on: April 06, 2008, 10:22:58 PM »
Well, well. So it has come around to this at last! With only one scrubby fighter left to go, is there any doubt that Chuck will win the day? Chuck should have no trouble fighting his opponent. With a continued barrage from his weapon of choice, he'll whittle away at Brusom's HP while his opponent does pitiful damage back. After enough rounds Chuck should have enough FP to Intrude, and finish the fight in style, or perhaps use Celesdue to make Brusom's already pathetic stats even worse, making this fight even more of a joke. What else is there to say? Any accuracy problems will be minor at best, and only prolong the inevitable. In every way that counts Chuck is superior, and with the NR Light title in sight, there's no way he'll be stopped now!

Writeup Graveyard / Jeremy (vs. Sir Leopold)
« on: April 05, 2008, 01:02:40 AM »
As a soldier in good standing in Brionac, Jeremy is used to fighting all sorts of creatures, from the mightiest monsters to a pack of no good punks. But a dog? That's the best Godlike can offer? Possesed or not, Sir Leopold cannot hold a candle to Jeremy. Leopold cannot make Jeremy lose his turns-and that's a real pity, since he's going to get so many of them! Being both incredibly fast and strong would be enough, but Jeremy wields the power of Inertia canceling, allowing him to get a massive headstart on his opponent! And his powerful Vulcan Cannon will make short work of Leopold's shoddy defense. Jeremy will quite simply rain death upon the hapless dog, who will be hard-pressed to do anything but offer a token defense as Jeremy fills the overgrown canine with lead. Mowing down a dog is somewhat unorthodox as far as military service goes, but Jeremy is willing to do whatever is required to win, and Heavy will undoubtedly tremble at the slaughterhouse it will soon become.

Writeup Graveyard / Zelos (vs. Gades)
« on: April 05, 2008, 12:50:11 AM »
Sinistral? Whatever. The Chosen of Mana himself, Zelos, isn't afraid of some jumped up clanky meatheaded suit of armor! As powerful as Gades is, he's no match for a real hero. Physicals? No problem, as Zelos can easily take whatever Gades can dish out, thanks to his impressive defense. Defense? Zelos can combo his way past Gades, and his speed advantage will mean nothing if he's too busy being hit with Lightning blades to attack. And, of course, if that overgrown lummox actually manages to land a hit Zelos can easily disengage and use First Aid to get himself back in the fight. Running circles around Gades will be second nature, no doubt. It'll take awhile to beat down Gades' impressive HP score, true, but that's no problem, since Zelos has all the healing he'll ever need and plenty of TP left over to use all his physical techs. And that spells doom for the Sinistral of Power, who will find out just how powerless he really is when he comes face to face with one of the greatest swordsmen in all the land!

Writeup Graveyard / Gong (vs. Jayle)
« on: April 04, 2008, 09:19:16 PM »
This isn't something you see everyday in the DL: A shining force character with more variety than his opponent! All jokes aside, Gong is a force to be reckoned with. His damage isn't impressive, true, but he can heal himself fully, and going up against an utter mediocrity like Jayle that could be all the difference he needs. Jayle's damage is pretty shabby, so Gong will most likely have plenty of turns to wail away at the Einherjar, after which he can lesiurely Cure 3 or 4 himself back up to shape. With no other real options in this battle, Jayle is forced into a battle of attrition, which he most certaintly can not win. It's as simple as that. With an already-dead guy down, and the rest of Light to face, Gong might not be the most expected Light victor, but he's certaintly capable enough to go far!

Writeup Graveyard / Dupa (vs. Allice)
« on: April 04, 2008, 09:11:00 PM »
Things aren't looking good for our Reptilian overlord Dupa. Alice has healing, powerful holy magic, and to make things worse, a resistance to physicals! This is a far cry from fighting Zexen ironheads at home! Luckily, Dupa can still achieve victory; Alice only has 12 SP. So she has 12 rounds to defeat Dupa and go home before she snaps and Dupa can easily beat her to a pulp. Dupa can last those 12 rounds by using Harvest How to freeze Alice. All he has to do then is patiently continue freezing her, wasting her turns as her SP runs out. Once she finally goes beserk, the battle is a simple affair, quickened by his Fury Rune. With a Chef's hat equipped, Dupa's ability to freeze should be enough to see him through, and the mightiest warrior in the Great Hallow can claim a win over one of Middle's best.

Writeup Graveyard / Farah (vs. Drachma)
« on: April 04, 2008, 09:01:35 PM »
It's been a long time since both of these duellers have been in the DL. The similarity doesn't end there, either; Both are tanks, both have instant death attacks, and both are well known for their ability to punch things. But Farah has healing, which wil turn the tide of this battle. As nasty as Drachma's various abilities are, he simply can't kill Farah in one blow, and Farah can heal away whatever he dishes out to her. His magic is completely useless, so he'll have to go for a win by Hand of Fate, by which time Farah will have undoubtedly either used her own ID weapon to turn the tables on the infamous pilot, or simply build up to a Maximum Burst, which should finish off her already weakened contestant. It'll be a hard-fought battle, but there's no way Drachma can get the SP in time, and with no other tricks up his sleeve, it'll be Farah who stands victorious in this Heavy match!

Writeup Graveyard / Allen (vs. Suzu)
« on: March 20, 2008, 07:08:49 PM »
Allen, truly a mighty warrior in his own right, has graced NR Light with his presence. With the power of his crossbow, is there anyone who can stand against him? Perhaps, in the distant future, there may be such a person, but Suzu is certaintly not it. With a few bolts to the forehead, that pathetic excuse for a warrior will crumble, and Allen will move on with nary a thought. No attacks of hers can break Allen's defenses, no tricks she might have will affect the outcome. For it is truly Allen's time to shine. So, after a quick and easy match for the future NR Light champion, all will truly see that Allen cannot be stopped. At least, not for now.

Writeup Graveyard / White Mage (vs. Rozalin)
« on: March 20, 2008, 06:39:48 PM »
As a less-fortunate member of the Final Fantasy white mage brigade, FF3 White Mage is forced to fight in Not Ranked while her more fortunate brethern take on the DL's finest in Light. But no matter! As you have already anticipated, White Mage has healing. Lots of it, in fact. But what you might not know is that she has a weapon that has a good chance of causing Petrify. And it just happens to turn out that Rozalin is quite vulnerable to that status. So, White Mage can keep healing herself for practically forever, and just keep hammering away at her opponent until Petrify kicks in and wins the battle. Since Rozy just can't damage White Mage enough to keep her in a healing loop, this will be a cinch. Unusual battle strategies are the mark of NR, and White Mage hammering her way into a middle championship fits perfectly!

Writeup Graveyard / Korgan (vs. Ashley)
« on: March 20, 2008, 06:05:40 PM »
Korgan's not what you would call a subtle person by any means. Abrasive in mood as he is on the battlefield, the dwarf can only rely upon his axe to fight his battles for him. Luckily for him, that's all he needs! Among the most durable characters in NR Heavy, Korgan can easily take the Riskbreaker's best moves. If Ashley tries to chain, he'll pay dearly with Korgan's damage being shot through the roof. An Enrage at this point should put the battle firmly in Korgan's favor. If he tries to use his special moves to conserve RISK, Korgan will simply not die fast enough, and the same result will occur. Korgan is a masterful slugfester, and his ability to never die will see him through this match, no matter how Ashley attempts to win.

Writeup Graveyard / Ricardo (vs. Frank)
« on: March 08, 2008, 12:39:16 AM »
Well, it seemed almost certain it would come to this. Ricardo has nothing against Frank, of course, besides the constant assault on what precious sanity the team has left, but a fight's a fight, and Ricardo is sure to win. Why? Well, for starters, Ricardo has way more damage than Frank, thanks to his crests and guitar picking skills. Another reason is that he has healing, something that the ninja lacks. What's more, he has attack magic, which may use to take advantage of Frank's utterly abysmal special defense. And with Ricardo's speed advantage, he's going to get plenty of opportunities to use them! Of course, it might take awhile to whittle down Frank's HP with Fated Day's End, but since Frank can't outdamage Ricardo's healing fast enough, and with all those extra turns included, it's not like it'll matter much in the long run anyway. Frank's certaintly no slouch in the mighty Light field, but Ricardo's simply much better, and in the end the only thing Frank can hope for is an honorable defeat.

Writeup Graveyard / Karin(vs. Peter)
« on: March 08, 2008, 12:33:07 AM »
As a master of both the sword and magical arts, Karin is well-used to fighting all sorts of bizzare creatures. A phoenix, while interesting, is not such a big deal compared to all the creatures she's had to face in the past. Karin's speediness will be helpful here, keeping the battle going at her own pace. Her sword strikes will make quite a dent in Peter's HP, and his own attacks, while strong, are somewhat offset by her own natural regen. This should be enough to outlast the bird's own meagre defenses. A few hits here, a few hits there, and Karin should have no trouble in taking care of business and scoring a victory over her worthy, if significantly weaker, opponent.

Writeup Graveyard / Patriarch (vs. Yuri)
« on: February 29, 2008, 07:13:10 PM »
Space Pope Power! What better way to kick off the second week of the DL's return? Yes, everybody's favorite holy figure is back for another chance at ultimate DL glory! Yuri's a pretty good fighter, but can he handle the punishment that Sergius can pull out? Like his stat downs, which will slow and blind the Harmonixer, allowing the Patriarch to control the fight, especially after he boosts his own speed to get in even more turns. Not to mention his ability to Curse the man, causing even more chaos. And let's not forget that it's going to take quite a bit of attacking, even from Seraphic Raidence, to take down Sergius's impressive durability and defense. Elemental resists will also leave Yuri hard-pressed to make a dent in his HP, no matter what kind of fusion he tries. If he can stall things out long enough, he'll get his full combo boost damage, which will undoubtedly finish the fight, Keeping in mind his ability to soak up damage, this is entirely possible and something that makes him very dangerous. But he might not even need it, especially with the almighty power that comes with being the Pope..from Space! Sergius just can't be topped this season!

Writeup Graveyard / Ellen(vs. Zed)
« on: February 29, 2008, 07:02:48 PM »
It's been awhile since the almighty power of Persona has graced the upper tier of the DL. As mighty a warrior as any in Godlike, Ellen should be very ready to shake off the dust and fight any foe. A complete joke like Zed should be perfect for a duel. Zed's all about his physical attacks..and guess what Ellen can block? Zed may have the speed advantage here, but that's not going to do him much good unless he likes eating his own attacks a whole bunch. Of course, he may get the occasional attack in, but that's nothing Ellen can't handle. If he tries a Raring to go Ellen can dispel it quite easily, of course. On the offensive side Ellen can simply Str Up and then start crushing him with physical attacks, or simply rely on her magic to take him down. Either one won't take very long, due to Zed's rather frail nature, and there's nothing he can do to stop either one from taking him down. As an expert in taking down demons of every type, size, and powerlevel, one Metal Demon and wannabe Quarter Knight isn't going to do much to take Ellen down! Of course, the same could be said for most of Godlike, as we'll soon see!

Writeup Graveyard / Ricardo (vs. Joker)
« on: December 28, 2007, 08:33:02 PM »
Respect for the elderly is one thing, but there comes a time when you simply have to face the facts. Namely, that Ricardo is going up against a frail old man. A veteran, true, but he's never faced anything like Ricardo's guitar attacks. Not to mention his stat-buffing game, or his healing, something the mercenary sorely lacks. Any attempt to use his Fire Rune will most likely wind up being a disaster, as Ricardo is more than speedy enough to take advantage of the lag, especially after a Gale or two. Attempting to Stun Ricardo would be an exercise in futility, and the resulting unbalance would merely give him plenty of time to heal and be back on offense with no turns wasted. Ricardo knows that Joker is a worthy adversary, but there's no way he can stand up against the guitarist in a straight fight, which leaves Ricardo with yet another win and a championship to boot. Edna would be proud.

Writeup Graveyard / Gale (vs. Rutee)
« on: December 28, 2007, 08:07:37 PM »
Through careful, logical planning, Gale has managed to make it all the way to the Middle Finals. That same logic also proves that is quite possible, indeed inevitable, that a Middle Championship in the making. Rutee is a skilled fighter, of course, but she lacks one important thing-ID resistance. Mamudoon will almost certaintly end the match in the first round. If not, there's not much Rutee can do to kill Gale before his next turn, and Mamudoon will definitely take out Rutee then. This match is simplicity in itself. All the other skills, abilities, techniques, etc that each dueller will make little difference in this contest. With this vital piece of evidence, there's no denying that Gale will achieve victory, and a shiny championship along with it.

Writeup Graveyard / Ricardo (vs. Serph)
« on: December 22, 2007, 02:04:20 AM »
Mighty as Serph is, there's nobody remaining in Light that can stand up to Ricardo! Whether with his guitar-shaped gun or his powerful techniques, Ricardo has everything he needs to take on the best Light can handle. Ricardo can fire things up with his Fated Days End attack, which will scrorch the fire-weak Serph, as well as add the element to his own attacks! He can also boost his already impressive speed, as well as heal anything that Serph tries to do to him. Constantly hit with his weakness and forced to take 2 turns of pain, Serph will be hard-pressed to offer any kind of offense as Ricardo burns him to a crisp. This should be a nice breather for the guitarist as he preps himself for the biggest performance of all, during the Light Finals!
