Yuna (FFX) Yuna vs Tir McDohl Tir McDohl (Suikos)

DragoonJay
And so it came to pass that Lady Yuna of Spira was crowned the Godlike champion. And as she rose to her new title, the people cheered for a time.

But there were those who feared that this would be the end of life as they knew it. They feared the power that the summoner had shown, and worried that there would be none able to stand against her. Thus, upon the day of Yuna's ascention to the title, one brave soul volunteered to scale the mountain of the Oracle, to seek the wisdom of the wise man.

Three times did the sun rise and set before the man found himself facing the Oracle. Relieved, the man related to the Oracle the concerns of the people. However, the Oracle did not respond. The man would beg and plead, but naught seemed to sway the heart of the keeper of knowledge. Finally, whether it was out of the kindness of his soul or the sheer desire for peace, the Oracle relented.

"Tell the people that Yuna shall remain champion until Judgement Day, and no later. That is all I shall say to you," spoke the Oracle, as he retreated to his home.

Three times did the sun rise and set before the man returned with the message the Oracle had bestowed upon him. And so the man revealed what he had been instructed to, and the people wept.

"Shall there be no salvation?" cried the people, and their despair grew.

The man who had seen the Oracle remained hopeful. Even as those around him forsook their faith, he remained loyal to his belief that someone would dethrone Lady Yuna.

Time passed, and Yuna proved able to defend her title with as much ease as she had earned it. The hopes of her foes dimmed.

The man remained hopeful.

And so Yuna stood calmly, waiting for her next opponent to appear, with very few onlookers. Many had given up on the chances of her failure, and did not see the point in attending.

The man was there. He looked deep into the eyes of Yuna, and saw the sadness therein. He saw the suffering that she felt at the hatred towards her. Yet he also saw the spark of defiance, the sign that she would not lose until she had truly been beaten.

The man entered the ring, raised his hand, and called upon his rune.

A fierce wind began to rage through the streets. All around, people huddled together in fear of the darkness that threatened to consume them.

Yuna smiled grimly, casting a spell she knew would be futile, as she fell to the darkness. Her day of Judgement was at hand.

And it was good.

Yuna: 9
Tir McDohl: 55

Otter
When Yuna checked her schedule for this week in the arena, she knew she wasn't in for another easy fight. The rune bearer's notorious speed and perfect-accuracy instant death were more than even the High Summoner could overcome, normally. Here there would be no simple aeon-wrought destruction; this match would require a little creativity.

When Yuna arrived at the arena, she saw at once her opponent standing in the middle of the ring wearing a multicolored bandana and a smirk. Tir McDohl was twirling his staff in one hand, patiently waiting for his opponent to step into the boundaries of the battle. Yuna smiled innocently and did so.

As she entered, Tir was not waiting for the speedy summoner to call one of her infamous aeons. By the time she cleared the boundary line, the Soul Eater was already glistening and reaching to extinguish Yuna's life. With Matthiu's help, McDohl had researched Yuna very thoroughly, and was thus extremely surprised to find that his Deadly Fingertips had no effect.

Yuna determined that it was her turn to smirk at the off-guard rebel. Twirling her dual pistols, Yuna's FFX-2 form, complete with death immunity, unleashed her Trigger Happy technique with a hail of gunfire that would make Virginia proud. A surprised Tir was riddled with no less than a dozen bullets and knocked to his knees by the sheer force of the assault as the gunner posed. "I suppose," the Godlike Champion added helpfully, "that you forgot about this form's storebought Safety Bit. You should realize that if I were a one-trick pony, like... some Godlike PCs, I wouldn't be winning championships." Yuna was slightly perturbed that her foe hadn't expired yet, but at the moment she couldn't recall any real reason to worry, seeing how badly she seemed to have thwarted his strategy.

But as the Gullwing prepared to end the match in her favor with a stylish Burst Shot, a very annoyed Tir McDohl sprang back to his feet and Yuna remembered, with more than a measure of horror, the True Rune of Life and Death's fourth spell: Judgement. Tir glared at her and raised his palm. Moments later, she collided with the arena's concrete wall and slid down to the floor in a crumpled, lifeless heap.

As a badly bloodied but victorious Tir left the ring, he marveled at how such a well-prepared gunner could forget about her own Target MP technique.

Starphoenix das Helpoemer
Yuna with all her Aeons...

Yuna with all her White Magic...

Yuna with all her above average Speed...

... just isn't fast enough to beat Tir.

*Watches Hell go off (Or Judgment if that's your bag) and consume the Summoner*

Lenneth Valkyrie (VPs) Lenneth Valkyrie vs Ryu Ryu (BoF3)

superaielman
"Defiler of Angels, your crimes lay heavy upon your soul!" Lenneth Valkyrie was truly a breaktaking sight. Hair flowing in the DL arena, sword pointed straight and firm, face set in an unbreakable look of concentration. Yes, failure was not an option. Ryu was throughly unimpressied. Going into his True Kaiser form, the dragon looked at Valkyrie.. and smiled.

Lenneth's sword struck home in rapid succession, three times. Much to her dismay, Ryu didn't even so much as flinch under the assault that had made gods weep in agony. Ryu reared, and gathered himself..

Then Kaiser Breath landed.

Valkyrie's body was wracked with pain. Her vision doubled, and even lifting her sword took an ocean of effort. Still, Lenneth stood tall, and let loose the move that shakes the heaven with it's very mention..

"It shall be engraved upon your soul. Divine Assault! Nibelung Valesti!"

Her PWS ripped through Ryu effortlessly. The Kaiser Dragon fell to the ground, dead from unerring strikes of the Glance Reviver.

Then, to Lenneth's horror.. "What? HOW CAN THIS BE?"

Ryu stood up and laughed, looking sprightly as ever. With the same effortless motions that brought him into Kaiser before, Ryu once again turned into the Dragon that had so easily mauled Lenneth with a single breath before.

Lenneth Valkyrie stood in horror of her foe. The light of Kaiser Breath was forming again, and Lenneth, in her injured state, wasn't able to move out of the way.

Lenneth's tormented death screams soon filled the arena, so quickly after her voice rang out in what seemd like sure victory..

Lenneth Valkyrie: 21
Ryu: 30

If there's one thing BoF games have taught us, its that Goddesses stand no chance against dragons. Why should Valk be any exception?

Profound Darkness (PS4) Profound Darkness vs Rubicant Rubicant (FF4)

Sage Acrin
Rubicant, when he heard that his opponent was the manifestation of all that is evil, knew he had to win.

After all, evil doesn't fight with any nobility, and that was his true strength.

However, when the Profound Darkness appeared in front of him and blasted him with Megid, he was so trapped within the massive philosphical contridictions of Profound Darkness, evil it's self, using a holy blast manifested from pure hatred, that he left himself wide open.

It's pretty clear Rubicant thinks too much. Sadly, he now has to do it in the infirmary.

Profound Darkness: 32
Rubicant: 18

Ultimecia (FF8) Ultimecia vs Zophar Zophar (Lunar2)

sdf
Of the 6 remaining godlikes that I know, none of them have the firepower or endurance to outlast Zophar. Hell....I don't really know anyone that has the endurance to outlast Zophar....

Ultimecia: 11
Zophar: 30

Ryu Hayabusa
The ground trembled in the throes of an earthquake, the heavens poured forth acid rain, and the terrified audience cowered under their seats as these two titans of evil did battle. Zophar's Fate Storm and Ultimecia's Hell's Judgement both proved ineffective against the other, so the match turned into a straight-up magic slugfest. After a while both duelists had beaten each other down to their ultimate forms - Ultimecia a floating two-sided freak, and Zophar a massive multi-armed juggernaut that straddled the entire arena.

"Not in your wildest dreams could you beat me, you fool." laughed Zophar. "Your attacks don't even scratch me! Time to die, you pathetic wriggling worm... huh?!"

Glancing down, Zophar saw that he had considerably less arms than he started with. Ultimecia's multi-target spells - Apocalypse, Maelstrom and Shockwave Pulsar - had been taking their toll on his limbs, which had less HP than his main body, and which he depended on for attacks. His attack power greatly reduced, Zophar could only howl in agony as Apocalypse melted him down into his fourth and weakest form, which a smirking Ultimecia then banished to the farthest depths of hell.

Athos (FE7) Athos vs Gau Gau (FF6)

superaielman
Athos is the veteran of countless battles, and his magic was enough to deter even the might of the Dark Druid.

Gau's the veteran of every brawl, dirty fight, and wrestling match that's occured in the Veldt during his stage. Even so, an old man wielding giant elemental books is a new thing to to him. So he does what's natural, and leaps on Athos.

Two days after the match, Athos is nowhere to be found, and Gau can now use Luna..

Athos: 15
Gau: 41

Ryu Hayabusa
Gau: "Mr. Thou!"
Athos: "FORBLAZE"
Gau: "Aaaaugh!!!"

Morte (P:T) Morte vs Diekbeck Diekbeck (AtLC)

OblivionKnight
Unfortunately for Morte, this was the one fight where his foul mouth actually cost him the battle.

Oh, yes, Diek was affected by the string of sharp curses uttered from the Mimir's bony mouth, like any other being would be. Unfortunately for Morte, it had a slightly unexpected outcome...you see, Diekbeck's programming was originally that of a nanny-bot. Morte's string of curses and potty-talk eventually fried the robot's circuits, causing a major malfunction.

"Oh, it's getting hot!"

*BOOM*

Morte, along with the arena, went kaput. Also unfortunately for Morte, due to the explosion occurring only on account of Diekbeck's programming and not as an outside trick designed to destroy some key spectators, it was ruled, since pieces of Diek still remained in the arena while Morte was scattered to the winds, that Diekbeck be declared the winner.

Morte: 9
Diekbeck: 13

T260G (Saga) T260G vs Lyn Lyn (FE7)

Meeplelard
Ah, Lyn, so fast, so evasive, so damaging...

Pity T260G laughs at damage, is equally as fast, and Cosmic Rave doesn't give a damn about evasion.

T260G: 19
Lyn: 16

Xenobia (Lunar1) Xenobia vs Gades Gades (Lufias)

Sir Alex
Xenobia is often outshined by her fellow Lunar endbosses in the DL. Gades, on the other hand, is outshone by random enemies about halfway through the game, and reappears for a one round win later on to prove his point of suck.

Xenobia: 30
Gades: 20

Florina (FE7) Florina vs Canas Canas (FE7)

Ryu Hayabusa
"M-master Canas!" Florina exclaimed. "Why are you fighting in such a tournament?"

"Simple, my dear." Canas smiled. "I'm trying to raise money for a charity to help war orphans, and find a way to stop snowstorms."

"Then I...I cannot fight you." Florina said. "Not when you have such a noble goal in mind."

"Florinaaa!!" Lyn yelled from the stands, looking only slightly worse for wear after her fight with T260G. "I baked you a cherry cheesecake! If you beat him quick, its all yours!"

"Yeep!" Florina blurted out and charged. Canas barely had time to raise his arms to cast Luna before Florina smacked him with the butt of her lance. His monocle broken, the Seeker of Wisdom sighed and collapsed unconscious, oblivious to Florina's apologies.

Florina: 38
Canas: 13

metroid composite
Canas has purple hair. This makes him awesome.
Florina has purple hair. This makes her awesome too.
Canas has a monocle. This makes him even more awesome.
Florina has a flying horse. This makes her even more aweome.

Now ask yourself what you'd rather posses: a flying horse or a monocle? As cool as a monocle is, a flying horse just seems to be worth more to me. Now ask yourself who you'd be more interested in meeting: someone with a monocle or someone with a flying horse? As rare and distinguished as monocles may be in this day and age, flying horses strike me as even more rare. Now ask yourself what is more powerful in a fight: a monocle or a flying horse? While it strikes me that monocles would likely help you collect intel on your surroundings, this likely wouldn't be as helpful as the death from above that can be delivered with a flying horse.

Therefore flying horsies > monocles.
Therefore Florina > Canas.
Quod erat demonstrandum.

Hahn Mahlay (PS4) Hahn Mahlay vs Landis Landis (S3)

Infinity
Landis takes a lesson from his fellow Wingly, Cid, and starts the match by whispering "Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahnnnnn" in his opponent's ear. This had the desired effect as Hahn wet his pants, then ran out of the arena crying like a baby.

Hey, if such a tactic works well against Chaco, someone who actually has guts, then its bound to work wonders on a wimp like Hahn.

Hahn Mahlay: 20
Landis: 29

Paine (FFX-2) Paine vs Momo Momo (BoF3)

Sage Acrin
*One hour before the match...*

"So, Honey, you stay here, and don't mess with any of the machinery, okay?"

Momo, hearing a knock at the door of her room, turned around and opened it, to find herself face to face with a blond-haired woman in about as close to nothing as you can wear on Duelling League grounds without getting thrown out.

"Hi, my name's Rikku." "Um, he-"

"Say, I don't think you can beat Paine. Why don't you just give up?" "Wh-?"

"She's got this huge sword, and she gets really mad and punches people out when they annoy her, and has this huge metallic armor-"

"But that's il-" "-and she has all these accessories and, well, you just don't stand a chance, shouldn't you forfeit?"

Momo, puzzled by this extremely hyper woman, was about to beg off and leave(Or, failing that, simply cast Silence on her.), when another voice was heard at the door.

"Well, doesn't that beat all. You're pretty sure of your friend. Care to make a little wager on that?"

Rei, wearing a rather insolent grin, walked into the room.

"And don't you get cold dressed like that?"

Rikku was rather annoyed by the smirk, and doubly so by the fact that Momo was trying to shoulder her out of the way so she could leave.

"Of course I'll make a bet! Any bet, you name it!"

Momo, despite being well down the hall at this point, managed to hear this remark, and whipped around quickly. There was never any telling what Rei might pull...

"How about this. If Momo loses, she joins your group. If you lose, you give us your airship, the Celsius."

"WHAT!?" A massively annoyed Momo exclaimed. "I'd never be able to put up with that chatter, or....wear...those kind of clothes!" "What's wrong with my clothes?" Rikku, now even more angry, yelled.

Rei, grabbing Momo's arm, pulled her over to one side of the hall. "Listen to me. I know what I'm doing. Have I ever bet on something I wasn't sure to win?" He whispered to her. "But how can you-" "No buts. Trust me."

"We accept." Rei said to Rikku. "Fine. One year in the Gullwings bet against the Celsius. Just because I'm that sure Paine will win."

"You better have a really good plan." Momo said to Rei. "Believe me. I do."

*5 minutes before the match.*

"Where the hell is my sword?" An irate Paine exclaimed. "I left it right here, in it's sheath hanging on the wall, and now it's gone...and....where's my Garment Grid?....and...the only ones with the combination to this room's lock are the other Gullwin-....RIKKU!!!"

*10 minutes before the match.*

"What!? You're willing to give Paine the legendary sword Durandal, Athos?" A incredibly excited Rikku yelled at the top of her lungs, jerking a white-haired man over to one side of a hallway.

"SHH. Not so loud, it's not technically legal. However, we have friends in common, so I figured I might as well try to help her. However, I will need her sword as...um, security. Also, I have a Dark Knight sphere, here, if you think she needs it, so if you'd bring her Garment Grid too..."

"Sure, sure, stay right there, I'll be right back!" Rikku yelled, dashing off.

"....Doesn't that beat all. She didn't even notice the tail when it came out of the robes, when she pulled me around. I'm not sure if I'm great at this or if she's just totally oblivious."

*Two minutes after the match was schedueled to start.*

"Winner, by failure to appear....Momo, of the Grassrunner tribe!"

*Five minutes later.*

"What...do you mean...you gave my sword to Athos? He's over in another Arena right now, and has been for the last 15 minutes. Or he's in the infirmary. Either way, whoever you gave that sword and garment grid to was not Athos." Paine said calmly to Rikku.

"But....but he had white hair, and looked like him and everything, and-grmph!"

Paine effortlessly lifted Rikku up by the throat. "Listen to me. You are going to regret this for a long time. A very, very long time."

"And she hasn't even told you about the bet yet, has she?" Rei, strolling up, asked.

"Bet?" "Rhgmgph!" "Okay, I'll stop choking you. Now, bet?"

"I...um....sort of bet....um, that you would be able to win, and that Momo would have to join the Gullwings, and um." "What. Did. You bet. Against that?" "...The Celsui-RGH" "Look, Rei, can we make a deal here? It's obvious my....theoretical....friend here has some mental issues. And that you tricked her, which I can't blame you all that much for since she probably asked for it."

Momo, walking up to Paine(Who, meanwhile, was still buisily engaged in choking Rikku into unconciousness.), smiled. "I think we can make a deal here."

"So, let me get this straight. We're landbound for an indefinite period because Rikku made a stupid bet, and Momo decided not to hold her to it and instead just took the Celsius to study for as long as it takes her to figure out how to make another?....And where'd you leave Rikku?" Yuna asked.

"Oh, just some place that she won't be able to cause any trouble. And where she can maybe earn enough to get me another sword, since Rei and I decided mutually that he could keep that one as as souvinier." "So she could have to buy you another one?" "More or less."

*Two days later.*

"I...uff...just...cleaned the stands, what do I have....puff....to do now?" A tired Rikku asked.

"Well, there's still Lavos' chamber to be cleaned, most of the bathrooms still aren't scrubbed, and, oh, Zidane asked for another massage."

"I....hate...having to clean....this place..." The newest, blonde-haired member of the Duelling League cleaning staff tiredly stated...

Paine: 19
Momo: 23

Belenus (VP1) Belenus vs Princess Toadstool Princess Toadstool (SMRPG)

Zenthor
A gentlemanly swordsman who died to save the life of Asaka. A rowdy princess with a pechant for getting kidnapped by creeps with body odor. One fights with single handed swords, the other with slaps, umbrellas, and fry pans. One has way too much body hair, the other is Belenus. There just doesn't seem to be anything that these two fighters that brings them together.

Except flowers. Both have a habit of picking flowers. Unfortunately for Belenus, Peach's flowers shoot fire. And fortunately for Peach, dead bodies still burn.

Belenus: 11
Princess Toadstool: 37

Virginia Maxwell (WA3) Virginia Maxwell vs Jaffar Jaffar (FE7)

OblivionKnight
A hail of bullets spread across the arena.

A flash of light sped past an unsuspecting foe.

Such was the battle between Virginia and Jaffar, an unforeseen spectacle in Light. It was fast, fierce, and well-played by both sides. Neither fighter would give in, and neither showed any signs of letting up. The speed at which the two fought each other was phenomenal - both looked to be mere blurs of light, flashing past each other, weapons drawn.

Though Virginia's gunnery skills were top notch, she had an extreme problem hitting the nimble assassin. Likewise, Jaffar had so far been unable to overcome Virginia's keen instincts, and had been unable to strike a killing blow since the fight began.

Jaffar dashed over to Virginia, swiping her with his Killing Edge. The gunner adeptly dodged, though her skirt was caught in the slash. Pushing the offensive, Jaffar kept up the pressure on the woman gunner, swiping and slashing continuously. It was all Virginia could do to evade the assassin's swings: she couldn't fight back.

Jaffar pushed Virginia back to the edge of the arena. As he swung in for the next blow, Virginia rolled out of the way, hoping Jaffar's momentum would carry him out of the arena...

But to no avail. The wily assassin recovered quickly and resumed the offensive. In the split second of respite Virginia had, she reloaded her pistols, and opened fire. It was like something out of The Matrix: time seemed to stand still as Virginia fired off a hail of lead at Jaffar. Like a well-trained Keanu Reeves, Jaffar evaded the hail of bullets, weaving in and out of them skillfully. Virginia kept on firing, until a look of horror overcame her face. It seemed Jaffar had his chance now, as Virginia's ARM started to make the cracking sound of a gun without any ammo left. Jaffar grinned, and stared down at the heroine as he brought his blade down towards her head...

...only to find his blade was no longer there. Virginia hadn't been aiming at him: she had shot his sword away. Jaffar's plunge was interrupted by a swift boot to the face, and his ears perked in horror at the sound of Virginia reloading her weapon.

A few seconds later, Jaffar felt the pain his victims felt on their deathbeds. The fight was over.

Virginia Maxwell: 21
Jaffar: 20

Porom (FF4) Porom vs Chester Chester (SF2)

Ryu Hayabusa
Porom smiled sweetly at Chester, who turned pale. "What... madness is this?!" he cried. "My opponent is a priestess... and a small child to boot? I cannot fight! Chivalry forbids it!"

He turned, galloping away from the jeers and catcalls of the audience, and Porom humbly accepted the victory.

Porom: 36
Chester: 8

Sir Alex
Porom doesn't die in one hit to enemies unless they're strong. Chester isn't that strong.

Rebecca (FE7) Rebecca vs Saradin Saradin (OB)

SageAcrin
Saradin was so puzzled by rampant arguments over what he was allowed, that he decided to just say the hell with it and pull in his entire initial team.

Granted, he was disqualified for this, since he wasn't paying attention enough to the debates to notice that this was the one thing the judges did agree was illegal.

Sadly, they didn't stop arguing until the match was over.

Happily, Saradin's initial team turns out to be a pair of Golems, who would struggle to hit Ricardo Banderas, let alone one of the most, if not the most, evasive people in Light.

So, Saradin's in the unusual position of being one of the few people ever in the RPGDL to be both disqualified and lose, in the same match.

Last anyone checked, he was reading a book and muttering something about being stupid for not paying more attention. He didn't seem to notice the stares this got him.

Rebecca: 22
Saradin: 12

Hix (Suikos) Hix vs Katt Katt (BoF2)

superaielman
Hix, always a gentleman, kindly offered a pre match handshake to Katt before her duel.

Katt, being a friendly girl, gave Hix a full body hug, in front of Tengaar.

Tengaar, seeing a naked catgirl hugging her boyfriend, did what was natural.

However, brutally beating Katt with a chair was considered to be a violation of the rules, and hence, Katt won by DQ.

Hix: 16
Katt: 39

Sir Alex
As for Katt, she has like half the durability... but over twice the damage with a couple counters and the speed edge.
