Week 4 - Quarterfinals

Myria (BoFs) Myria vs Ness Ness (EB)

Jo ou Ranbu
Myria and Ness should be interesting. If only for the fact that they probably won't fight and they'll have some ice cream instead. Of course, Myria will let Ness go out of the arena first, since she's anything but stupid.

Myria: 26
Ness: 13

Sir Alex
Before meeting Ness, Paula was a strong willed, independant young psychic girl, who used her powers of fire and blasting to smite enemies, was barely imprisoned, and manipulated Ness into freeing her.
After meeting Ness, Paula became a meek, submissive little girl who followed him around and did whatever he said. Lesson? Ness takes strong little girls and crushes their spirits under his heel.
Myria, before meeting Ness, is a strong willed, independant dragon goddess in the form of a young girl, who used her powers of fire and blasting to smite enemies until she was barely imprisoned, and manipulated Ryu into freeing her.
You can guess what happens after she runs into Ness. Hopefully, the Onett Library stocks Reviving Ophelia next to its copies of Overcoming Shyness.

Broc
I'm mad at Ness for beating Fei. Besides, he doesn't stand a chance against Myria anyways.

Seymour (FFX) Seymour vs Ryu Ryu (BoF4)

Sir Alex
Ryu4 over Seymour... no clever writeup. Suffice it to say that Ryu has many ways in which to walk over Seymour, Punk, Weyr, or just plain Kaiser.

Seymour: 9
Ryu: 37

Rika (PS4) Rika vs Amon Amon (Lufias)

Jo ou Ranbu
In most cases, a PC character has no chance against high-end bosses. The sheer difference in HP and skillsets tend to seal a lot of these matches in a rather sad note.

On the other hand, we're talking about a Lufia high-end boss, going against a very competent healer who actually has damage.

To shorten up things, glad to see Rika slaughtering Amon. Why did this sucktastic Sinistral have a good run, I will never know.

Rika: 29
Amon: 16

Zalbag Beoulve (FFT) Zalbag Beoulve vs Garland Garland (FF9)

superaielman
Zalbag eyed the cop who had reported to him with mild interest. "Are you sure this information is correct? If so, my win is assured."

The officer nodded, and handed some papers over to Zalbag. With a shrug, he walked out, leaving the Arc Knight with a plan of action.

-Ring-

Garland stood floating in the ring. All reports called this Zalbag another weak fighter. Nothing for him to fear..

Zalbag walked into the ring, and waved around a fistful of papers.. .copies of which were floating around amoung the viewers. "I, Zalbag Beoluve, have uncovered the truth about Garland. This man was responsble for a number of horrors in his day..!"

The crowd yawned at this. This was the usual fare for a DL villian.

.."The worst of which was creating Zidane Tribal!"

The crowd stood stunned, and slowly buzzed. The tone was that of rage and hate... and Garland was the main target of this.

"Doth, but I cannot forgive one for such a crime. Prepare yourself!"
"..This PIG created Zidane? DIE!"
"Ma Peche should not live in the same world as such trash!"

The crowd of fighters closed in on the unfortunate Garland. It became quickly obvious that Garland would be unable to compete, and Zalbag was handed the match.

Fuse laughed to himself as he watched the slaughter, feeling that his one loss was well avenged.

Zalbag Beoulve: 24
Garland: 20

Rune Walsh (PS4) Rune Walsh vs Rikku Rikku (FFX)

Jo ou Ranbu
Rikku, as she headed for the arena, was very confident in her victory. Having packed a chock full of Petrify Grenades subtlely under the sight of the RPGDL Rule Lawyering Squad, she knew that there was nothing Rune could do.

Rune himself was waiting intently at the arena, showing very little patience towards this match. Yet another annoying lightning ball wasn't something he was eager to fight, seeing how the last week's bout turned out for him. Getting beat up by Feena isn't a pretty sight even for a mighty Esper, even if Justin got both silenced and barbecued beforehand.

When Rikku showed up, a cold wind began to blow. They stared at each other. Rune sighed and hung his head. "Let's just get this over with". Rikku smiled light-heartedly. "Yup! I'm going to win this so easily you won't even know what hit you!", she said in a ridiculously high-pitched tone that annoyed Rune even more.

As she said that, she began to reach for her items bag... and felt a strange swish of wind around her. Eh, no matter! This is so going to be fun, she thought. And she grabbed her items bag... searching for her Petrify Grenades.... but they were nowhere to be found. She started getting desperate, sweating and shivering. Where were the Grenades?? She then shook her bag down the floor, dropping all her items and searching relentlessly for her beloved items. Then, she looked up to the side of the arena.... and saw a ninja with the RPGDL Enforcement Squad insignia on its back. Her eyes widened.

Rune smiled wickedly and looked at the thief lady with a gleam in his eyes. "You don't seem so confident now, eh?". Rikku, desperate, started giggling like a stupid girl and scratched her head, sweating more than ever. "Errr... will you take it easy on me? Pretty pleeeeeeeease?".

Rune smiled once again, and muttered calmly: ".... you must be kidding me". Then, the Esper closed his eyes and then started chanting ancient words of power.

Rikku, startled and anguished, ran away from the arena as fast as she could. As she stepped out of the arena's bounds, a gigantic pillar of flame engulfed the Al Bhed thief, roasting her to an unrecognizable mess. Rune then smirked and walked towards the charred body of Rikku and meneated his head, sighing. "That was pathetically easy", he said, and left the RPGDL Arena with his head held high.

Rune Walsh: 28
Rikku: 19

Karsh (CC) Karsh vs Ragnar Ragnar (DW4)

The Axeman
Karsh and Ragnar squared off, both trading blows with one another, the much quicker Karsh escaping Ragnar's blade time and again, and the mighty armor of Ragnar repelling swipes of Karsh's axe, which he could never seem to get a clear shot with.

Karsh didn't want to do it, but there was one opening in Ragnar's shining pink armor. Ragnar left his helmet open, to show off his impressive mustache.

And so Karsh hit him in the face with his axe really hard.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Having nigh impenetrable defenses is one way to get ahead in life, but it's hard to argue with an axe to the face.

Karsh: 25
Ragnar: 12

Pendy
Hopefully the moral of this story is less about how it's hard to argue with an axe to the face, and more about,it's hard to argue with a sword in the eye.

ChichiriMuyo
Karsh for Godlike!

Mithel
Gogogo Ragnar!

Vinsfeld Rhadamanthus (WA2) Vinsfeld Rhadamanthus vs Gryz Gryz (PS4)

Anti-Axeman
Facing the oft mocked midboss of Wild ARMs 2, Gryz was bored. So, needless to say, he wasted little time with formalities and went right to the face-axing after Incuring Vinsfeld's Wrath.

Which failed to do Vinsfeld in. So, he suffered another Wrath that he Incured, and tried again. It bloodied up the not-so-pretty boy's face, but still failed to do him in. The exchange of Wrath and Axe Continued until Visfeld got lucky and Gryz fell to the ground.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Planting your axe into someone's face is one way to get ahead in the DL; for everything else, there's HP and ID.

Vinsfeld Rhadamanthus: 28
Gryz: 10

The Axeman
Gryz was bored. Very, very bored. He really wanted to fight his opponent, but Vinsfeld decided to use the time alloted to characters to make an entry-line before the fight to talk endlessly about his "Pure Ideals." Gryz just wanted to fight.

Finally, Vinsfeld had shut up, and the bell rang. Vinsfeld got into his attack position.

Gryz hit him in the face with his axe really hard.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Having Pure Ideals is one way to get ahead in life, but it's hard to argue with an axe to the face.

Viktor (Suikos) Viktor vs Rhett Rhett (S3)

The Axeman
"Wow!" Rhett said. "You're Viktor! I've heard of you. You've fought in two major wars."

"Yep," Viktor said.

"And that's the Star Dragon Sword! I know, because I saw it when Edge had it."

"Yep."

"And you're huge! You must weigh over 200 pounds! Of muscle!"

"Yep."

"Wow. That is something," Rhett said. He was thoroughly impressed.

Then he hit Viktor in the face with his axe really hard.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Being a really big guy who's a war vet and wields a legendary sword is one way to get ahead in life, but it's hard to argue with an axe to the face.

Viktor: 16
Rhett: 31

Broc
I'll cry if Viktor loses to that DUCK. It would be like having Fei get beat by Chu Chu, Terra by Mog, Jowy by MukuMuku. Honestly.

Eternalspirit
One may argue that Viktor can win this because he has the strongest weapon in his game, the legendary Star Dragon Sword. Too bad Rhett doesn't care.

Battle of the Super Bots!
Wren vs T260G vs KOS-MOS vs Worker 8

~Meeple/Niu/Grefter/Meeple

Cromage
You're..... kidding, right? KOS-MOS annihilates them all without breaking a robotic sweat. Can't argue with a girl who destroyed an entire fleet of Gnosis and is destined to face off against the essence of a planet.

Wren: 8
T260G: 4
KOS-MOS: 17
Worker 8: 14
Robo Vengance: 3

Grefter
No woman can withstand that awesome power of Bowie. Luca gets Magic Danced into choosing Worker 8. Not long afterwards a Worker 9 series is being mass produced to further the plans for Final Fantasy Tactics world domination plans. In the name of Bowie they do this, using his music and dancing they will crush the wills of all women and a large portion of men. There will be no rebels. Resistance is futile, join the nearest Bowie Fan Club and save yourself the trouble of having your household raped and pillaged by a squad of 3 tonne robots. FOR BOWIE! FOR THE MAGIC DANCE! Ashes to ashes. Funk to funky. We know Major Tom's a junky.

Jo ou Ranbu
Worker 8 wins this match with ease! C'mon, it's a ROUND ROBOT! DOING THE SEXY BOWIE DANCE!!! It's just too much! Everybody knows anything Bowie-related HAS to be top-tier. Of course, after Worker 8 wins, he'll be reprogrammed, re-arranged and next year he'll call himself Ziggy Stardust the 2nd. And David Bowie will rise to Heaven.
