Daos (Lufias) Daos vs Kuja Kuja (FF9)

DragoonJay@excite.com
What a pity for Daos that a reflected spell can't be reflected back. Kuja has Reflect and knows how to use it.

Daos: 5
Kuja: 15

Zeal, Queen (CT) Zeal, Queen vs Tir McDohl Tir McDohl (Suikos)

Dark Holy Elf
When Tir got hit by Zeal's opening MP Buster, he tried to argue that he had spell charges, not MP, and that he should therefore be immune to Zeal's spell.

Unfortunately, many previous "decision-making" sessions with Mathiu had already proven just how bad Tir was at getting his point across in situations like this.

Zeal, Queen: 16
Tir McDohl: 5

tylorh@hotmail.com
"Pitiful fool! Gaze upon the power of Lavos and know your own insignificance and powerlessness in his presence!" Queen Zeal ranted before breaking into a generic evil queen laugh. "Come, let me show you the power the mighty Lavos has given me, and know how meaningless your life is!"
At this, Tir collected his thoughts. Of his struggle against family and enemy alike to create a new country, and he remembered an old saying he had heard once. "Even at his most powerless, a man's life is never without meaning," he simply said as he raised his right hand and drew upon the power of the Soul Eater, quickly defeating the fallen Queen of the Enlightened Ones.

Choko (AtLC) Choko vs Chris Lightfellow Chris Lightfellow (S3)

Unoriginal
Chris doesn't have a chance here, Choko Magic score is so high that she'll shrug off any spells Chris tosses at her, and her Counter 3 means that physical attacks are a *really* bad idea. This is, of course, assuming that Chris lasts long enough to actualy do something, as between Choko's speed and the sheer power of Vanish 3, she might not even get a turn.

Choko: 9
Chris Lightfellow: 5

Kefka (FF6) Kefka vs Decus Decus (SO2)

Dark Holy Elf
Neither of these men could ever be said to enjoy taking punishment. Decus' voice-clips when he gets hurt make this obvious for him, and Kefka does have a tendency to run away at the first sign of trouble. So, rather than exchange punishing Havoc Wings and Spicules until one badly bashed-up madman emerged victorious, they instead decided to settle their differences with a contest of scary voice acting.

Decus went first. "I will burn you to the bone!" he screeched in his trademark insane hyperactive Wise Man voice. "Hey, it's HOT! Oh, it's so hot I'm going to die!" And finally, he finished up with an imitation of his death scream, which caused more than a few spectators to flee the arena in terror.

Kefka, however, was not flustered. He simply smiled at Decus.

Then let out his legendary 16-bit Kefka laugh.

Decus raised the white flag.

It was only later he learned that his opponent had only that one voice-sample. By then, though, Kefka was off to the semi-finals.

Kefka: 17
Decus: 2

tylorh@hotmail.com
Decus began the battle by showing his impressive firepower with his trademark attack, Spicule. Kefka, never one to be outdone, showed off his preferred way of commiting firey death, and hit Decus with a blast from his Light of Judgement.

Gades (Lufias) Gades vs Beatrix Beatrix (FF9)

tylorh@hotmail.com
Beatrix had been wondering what chance she stood against the ever impressive Gades. After all, while she was the strongest member of the Alexandrian Military with the exception of her boyfriend, Steiner, even the greatest of knights isn't a match for a Sinistral going full out. However, not being the type to easily give up, she consulted with her queen and finally the two of them hatched a plan...
On the day of the match, Beatrix was leaning by the edge of the arena chatting with some of the bystanders as Gades entered. He walked over to Beatrix in order to do his traditional villainous pre-match taunting, then stopped, a never before seen look of witless, primal terror that not even a Wave Motioned Maxim had been able to summon. Then, with a cry of panic, he fled, giving Beatrix the win. Beatrix, smiled as she first recieved Freya's thanks for getting Cleyra's orphaned children free front row seats, and then as Gades proved her theory that, the bigger they are, the more likely they have a cliche fear of mice.

Gades: 8
Beatrix: 12

Valvalis (FF4) Valvalis vs Royce Royce (Lunar1)

Dark Holy Elf
"I should warn you," said Royce as she hefted her scythe. "My physical attack is the most damaging attack used by any enemy in Lunar SSSC."

Valvalis just smiled as she adopted a tornado form. "With my incredible evasion to your physical slices, that doesn't matter! Now, prepare to die, foolish girl!" laughed the Fiend of Wind triumphantly.

Royce shrugged, and put down her scythe. Then proceeded to blast Valalis out of the arena with a casting of Flare Strike.

"You're no fun. You were supposed to ask what the SECOND most damaging attack in my game was."

Valvalis: 3
Royce: 17

Rubicant (FF4) Rubicant vs Citan Uzuki (Hyuga Ricdeau) Citan Uzuki (Hyuga Ricdeau) (XG)

NonEntity
Rubicant has no chance. Sukeii is of huge benefit to Citan in this match and the Crystal Water deathblow is just the thing Rubicant dreads.

Rubicant: 4
Citan Uzuki (Hyuga Ricdeau): 18

Veryslightlymad@hotmail.com
Ah.... The match-description put it perfectly. Citan's already game-highest HP and healing techniques, coupled with his Fire-shield will -DESTROY- Rubicant's offense. He can chip away at the mighty boss, and eventually, he'll fall.

tylorh@hotmail.com
Rubicant, true to his gentlemanly nature, offered full healing to Citan before the match began. Citan didn't need the healing, having spent a leisurely day mentally preparing for the match, but it was the appearance and form that mattered. Citan, once the battle began, then went with his spy nature, and promptly raised his Fire defence then weakened Rubicant's Water defence. And then finished him off with his Water elemental deathblow, knowing that form doesn't matter if it isn't backed up with purpose.

Rapp (G1) Rapp vs Flik Flik (Suikos)

tylorh@hotmail.com
Flik looked at the gear spread on his bed as he made his pre-battle check. He nodded quickly as he put on his armour, paused thoughtfully as he put on his sword belt and checked the recently sharpened Odessa ++. Then, a quick glance at his hand showed the tattoo of the Lightning Rune, he was all ready to go except for the final bit, his headband. But, when he looked down, there was nothing left. Thinking quickly, he knew what it had to be. By the time he had hunted down Nina and had his, now freshly cleaned, headband back, he was regrettibly late for his duel.

Rapp: 16
Flik: 3

Ursula (BoF4) Ursula vs Alma Beoulve Alma Beoulve (FFT)

Oblivion Knight
Alma's MBarrier makes Ursula's respectable physical attack very...unrespectable. It also turns Inferno into a sunburn. Status attacks? Alma's Ribbon defends them. So what CAN Ursula the fox-girl do?

....well, running away with her tail between her legs might be a turn-on for some people, so it's probably best if she just forfeited.

Ursula: 7
Alma Beoulve: 9

Marle (Nadia Guardia) (CT) Marle (Nadia Guardia) vs Viki Viki (Suikos)

DragoonJay@excite.com
Assuming the Blinking Rune has a 50/50 shot of winning or losing a match, and it was used to win Viki last week's, you would think that her luck will fail this week.

And you'd be right.

Marle (Nadia Guardia): 17
Viki: 3

tylorh@hotmail.com
Marle started aiming her crossbow as soon as the round began. After all, though she may be a princess, she also made sure to do anything well if it was worth doing at all, and had thusly researched Viki's strengths and weaknesses. And because of that, she knew that most of Viki's matches ended when she blinked, sending one of the two fighters somewhere... unpleasent. Usually several hundred feet in the air, though there was that one time Dias had been sent to the Bishounen Appreciation Society... And far too often the person who went missing wasn't Viki. And since Marle didn't want to go who knows where and possibly have to be rescued like your average dead weight princess, again, she took careful aim so as to end it in a shot. Finally, she had her shot and loosed her bolt at the vacantly staring Blink Magess. The two women watched the bolt as it flew true, aimed between Viki's rather large eyes. But, just before it hit, Viki blinked. Shocked, Marle quickly made sure she hadn't gone anywhere. Then a rising tide of elation was quelled as she realised that Viki was still there too. Puzzled, Marle set about figuring what had been teleported, and quickly realised that it was her bolt that was gone. Somewhat annoyed, she lined up another shot. 'After all,' she thought, 'what's the odds Viki will get that lucky again?'
'Damnit! Well she can't get that lucky AGAIN!' Marle seethed to herself an hour later, after Viki had succesfully blinked every single one of her bolts out of their flightpath. Greatly agitated, the princess of Guardia reached for another bolt to try and pierce the annoying Blink Magess with, only to find that, for the first time ever, she was out. She had used up all of her crossbow bolts, and hadn't even a clue of what had happened to them. Even more agitated now, she took a step forward, determined to simply bludgeon her foe to death with her crossbow. Before she took two steps though, something slammed into the dirt infront of her. Looking down, she saw that what had narrowly avoided her was her own crossbow bolt. Looking up, she saw a veritable cloud of them, and that cloud was decending, with there being no cover in the stadium at all. Needless to say, neither of them survived that deadly rain, but with her healing and greater luck, Marle managed to survive longer for the win.

Seifer Almasy (FF8) Seifer Almasy vs Lilly Pendragon Lilly Pendragon (S3)

Despite being a great believer in chivalry, Seifer had run into a bit of a problem. Although he had been a knight once, his patron had not only gone mad, but had then promptly been well and truly destroyed by Squall. As such, he's a knight at heart, but now without a master. Of course, Lilly, who can never have too many lackies and apparently has a bottomless money pouch for hiring them will quickly set that right. And, since it's a win/win agreement, and Seifer is far more likely to blink first than the ever self-confident Lilly, soon enough he'll have a new master all for the low, low price of this match.

Seifer Almasy: 8
Lilly Pendragon: 10

Margarete Zelle (SH1) Margarete Zelle vs Ultros Ultros (FF6)

tylorh@hotmail.com
Margarete, already having experienced attacks from the nether regions, didn't desire to experience the cliche outcome of any battle between an atractive female and a monster with tentacle attacks. Because of that, she was nowhere near the arena when her match came, giving the match to Ultros.

Margarete Zelle: 3
Ultros: 13

Kongol (LoD) Kongol vs Elly van Houten Elly van Houten (XG)

tylorh@hotmail.com
Sure Elly's magic has accuracy problems. But, it's amazing how little that matters when you have a nice sleeping target to practise on.

Kongol: 2
Elly van Houten: 17

Maria Balthasar (XG) Maria Balthasar vs Vincent DeBoule Vincent DeBoule (S2)

Dark Holy Elf
Before the match, Vincent, as was fitting for nobility of his high breeding, approached Maria and handed her a long-stemmed rose.

Sadly, Maria fainted as she accepted the gift, having pricked herself on a thorn. An aghast Vincent was awarded the match by default.

From the stands, a companion of Vincent's in the Dunan Army shook his head. "They say I know a thing or two of bad physical durability," he said in his usual (at least, usual for pre-Suikoden 3) sarcastic manner. "But it appears that, for once, even I have much to learn."

Maria Balthasar: 5
Vincent DeBoule: 13

NonEntity
I believe Maria should be able to get in the necessary Robo attack to put Vincent out.

tylorh@hotmail.com
Maria's Controls are powerful enough that Vincent has to heal after taking a hit from them or else even Maria's pitiful attack will take him out. This makes it a battle of MP, where Maria's MP will last for just as long as Vincent's spell charges. This would leave us with a rather pathetic physical duel to end it, except that Vincent would then break out the spell charges for his other spells, and promptly end it.

Rico Banderas (XG) Rico Banderas vs Llewelyn Llewelyn (VP1)

tylorh@hotmail.com
"I'll do my best!" Llewelyn cried out as he took to the field.
Rico, having no voice quotes of his own, merely seethed and looked menacing. And then the battle began. Rico, once he got a chance, upped his defence, but Llewelyn's single attack seemed to be annoyingly good at piercing defence, and the sounds he was making as he attacked were annoying period. However, that seemed to be for the best as well, as they brought out a sort of berserker rage in Rico, making him more powerful, and making him somewhat easier to dodge, which led to equally annoying "Ya"s and "Eat This"'s as Llewelyn then countered him. Eventually, it all became too much for the demi-human whose other part now seemed more Pin Cushion than monster, and he keeled over.
"With enemies like this, even I can win!" cried an overjoyed Llewelyn.

Rico Banderas: 9
Llewelyn: 12

Dark Holy Elf
Good old Rico. One of the few characters who gets literally doubleturned by PCs from his own game, unmodified. Of course, a disadvantage like this tends not to matter when your opponent is virtually incapable of doing damage.

Cait Sith (FF7) Cait Sith vs Edward Damcyan Edward Damcyan (FF4)

dmarco3@yahoo.com
Mega Toss-up. Which will hit first? Cait Sith's Frog or Eddie's Charm Harp?

Well, since you CAN have Cait Sith at endgame, while Eddie's out before the halfway mark, I'd say the Robot's stats are a little bit better than the Spoony Bard's. Toad Eddie can still Hide, but he can't do anything else. Frogs croak when singing. (I'm assuming the Cat's Frog Spell works the first time.)

Eddie will then hide. And he'll hide. And... the Ref will force Eddie to show himself after 5 minutes so that Cait Sith can sing the bard a little ditty.

Cait Sith: 19
Edward Damcyan: 4

tylorh@hotmail.com
"So, you're this Spoony Bard everyone's always talking about." Cait Sith stated with his usual tact.
Edward, born to royalty and at least pretending to be made of grit and toughness like all the princes in story and song, stoically ignored the common insult, instead giving the calm reply "I am indeed the bard, Edward Damcyan. And you must be Shinra's little pet."
"Yup, and just wait'll you see the tricks I can do!"
Edward didn't wait though, and began singing a song.
"You know I'm a robot, right? Your songs can't touch me," Cait said, right before he cast Mini, turning the bard in one easily stepped on and squished. And still he played. Cait Sith just smiled and set the stuffed Moogle stepping forward, adjusting course so Edward couldn't dodge the large feet. However, just before he reached the chibi-bard, the robotic cat slumped over, the music having done its job and severing the connection between Reeve and his robots. Then, quickly scrambling out of the way with speeds that only Stallion and a panicked bard could reach, Edward watched the stuffed moogle galumph out of the ring to give him the victory.
