Sephiroth (FF7) Sephiroth vs Yunalesca Yunalesca (FFX)

Otter
Sephiroth is an endgame Final Fantasy villain. Yunalesca is an endgame Final Fantasy villain.

Sephiroth has numerous twisted mutant forms in addition to his long silver haired human form. Yunalesca has numerous twisted mutant forms in addition to her long silver haired human form.

Sephiroth has a six-foot materia-holding Cloud-gutting GameFAQs contest-winning sword with a history of impaling unarmored Final Fantasy mage girls. Yunalesca is an unarmored Final Fantasy mage girl.

Looks like Yunalesca's record against crazed men who charge at her with a katana is about to get rather worse.

Sephiroth: 51
Yunalesca: 16

Chaos (FF1) Chaos vs Celes Chere Celes Chere (FF6)

Otter
Two nukes and down goes the general! Chaos must be wondering how these unworthies dare show their faces in his division.

In his terrifying glory, he is truly comparable to the gods; mundane magic knights should pursue other divisions for fights that they can hope to win.

Chaos: 43
Celes Chere: 24

Luis Virgil (XS1) Luis Virgil vs Deis Deis (BoFs)

superaielman
Subject: Virgil.
Foe: Deis.
Method of Victory: Show up, taunt the crowd, Shadow Wing target. Win a five second duel. Be out in time for a nap and a little realian abuse.

Luis Virgil: 31
Deis: 19

Lucia (Suikos) Lucia vs Rashidi Rashidi (OB)

superaielman
Hugo stood outside Rashidi's room. The door was covered in mystical carvings, and it was obvious to the young man that strong magical energies radiated from the door. A hesitant knock upon the door, and he would be in business.

*Knock knock*

To his surprise, Rashidi himself came out of the room almost instantly. He was an imposing sight, a huge man who's very powers had torn apart godlike once. "..You.. you're my father? How can this be? Who spread such a lie?"

Rashidi merely smiled, and extended his hand. "My boy, it was a long time ago. I aided Lucia by blessing her my mystic power. It's why she's in godlike, wielding so many attacks so quickly."

Hugo eyed the Wiseman with distrust. "You summoned me here. Why?"

"..You don't want to see your mother hurt, do you? Come with me, Son. I'll show you how you can help her.."

---

Lucia stood in the ring, whip in hand. That arrogant wiseman had much to account for. Hugo had disappeared without a trace, with last reports placing him heading towards Rashidi's. A noise startled her. Rashidi appeared in the center of the ring with a magical florish. Standing behind him was an armored man, with a huge axe in hand. "Gares." Dismissing the armored fighter, Lucia glared at Rashidi. "Where's my boy, you slime?"

Rashidi said nothing, and instead began glowing a bright red. "The element of fire is truly an amazing one, wouldn't you say? Of course you would.. you're best known for controlling the element, as is your son." Raising his hand, a certain fire rune burned brightly. "I recently accuired this. It's quite pretty, don't you think?"

Aiming his hand at Lucia, Rashidi shot a flame dragon at her chest. The blow burned her badly, and knocked her out cold. "..One..spell.."

---

Lucia opened her eyes. To her surprise, a grinning Rashidi stood over her, with the True Fire Rune burned into his right hand. "It wasn't easy to convince Hugo to come into my room. Once he was there.. well, even the strongest will cannot stand against my mystic powers. Hugo!"

Rashidi walked off and laughed. Where he stood was the young man with the armor, who Lucia had first thought was Gares. The young man stripped off his helmet..and in front of Lucia stood Hugo, his eyes blank. "Father told me to give you a gift.." Hefting his axe, Hugo stared at Lucia blankly.
---
Lucia's screams shook the very walls of the arena. That fool should have never crossed paths with the Wiseman. Rashidi closed the door to his room, and locked it and sealed it with all of his power. He didn't want any angry friends of the woman or the boy to interupt while he was casting his magics. That rune the boy had was -most- interesting...

Lucia: 19
Rashidi: 26

Decus (SO2) Decus vs Seed Seed (S2)

Otter
"Don't you think I'm very strong?!" Decus's mighty flames engulfed Seed, who simply accepted the resisted attack without even losing the confident smirk he walked in with. The worst was already over.

"Are you kidding?" he asked the enraged Wiseman. "I had to contend with the likes of Georg Prime in my game." Still smirking, Seed began surreptitiously to activate his rune.

"You dare compare me to the likes of him?!" Even more outraged, Decus prepared to launch another infernal assault, resisted or not...

...Only to find his spell choked out by a newly-cast Silent Lake. "Georg might not have as many wins, but his physical sure beats yours. Unless you'd care to try and prove me wrong? It's not like you can do anything else now."

Incensed, Decus charged madly, but the double-acting Seed only laughed and cut him down as he came. Sorry, Decus, but you're not strong enough to handle someone who can counter you that well.

Decus: 15
Seed: 38

Rofel Wodring (FFT) Rofel Wodring vs Maya Schroedinger Maya Schroedinger (WA3)

Sei
If there is one thing that Suikoden and characters like Raven has thought us, it is this.

All knights and knight-like figures are gay.

While it is true that some knights like Cecil have female love interests, they are either exceptions that prove the rule, or were closetted regarding their true orientation before entering the RPGDL, as in the case of Dart and Lavitz. The truth of the matter is, if you wear armor and wield a sword/lance/spear, you simply adore "sword practices" that last all night-long with your commander, underling, best friend, or much-despised-but-secretly-adored rival.

However, some knights are less fortunate than others. The Shrine Knights of Ivalice for example, were the warriors of the Church before arriving in the Dueling League and had trained thermselves to bottle up their sexual urges due to the entire chastity thing.

Of course, as any psychologist would tell you, all that sexual repression is never a good thing, and it is a very rare individual who could actually hold all that lust in.

As was proven by Rofel in his match against Maya, when she entered the ring with the Zodiac Brave Story in hand, looking very much like an extremely dashing version of Vormav.

After a few sweet nothings that made the Shrine Knight blush like a school girl, some erotic murmurs to convince him to drop his sword and unlatch his armor, and many, many bullets to the sternum after the drifter returned to her much preferred costume and pulled out her favorite Gatling Gun from under her skirt while laughing maniacally, Maya advanced to the Heavy semi-finals much to the shock of everyone watching on that day.

Rofel Wodring: 21
Maya Schroedinger: 25

Rosa Harvey (FF4) Rosa Harvey vs Liete Liete (G1)

SageAcrin
The bigger skillset doesn't always let you win, as this match showed.

As Liete entered the arena, she mused outloud about the possible ways she could win this match. Blast Rosa to a crisp with living animated dragons, slash Rosa with wind until she bled unconcious, bury her alive, electrocute her, Enclose her, freeze her...

Rosa, on the other hand, merely smiled. And offered to use Peep on Liete, then give away, free of charge, all of Liete's weaknesses, strengths, taste in men, personal specifications, color of underwear, and various other initimate details to all that wanted them.

Liete instantly forfeited.

Rosa had to fry a few dozen perverts on the way out of the arena, though. Seems they wanted that info anyhow.

Rosa Harvey: 31
Liete: 17

Debonair (OB) Debonair vs Elc Elc (AtLC)

superaielman
Elc and Debonair is an epic match. Blade against blade, armor against armor..

Oh wait. Elc can heal, make himself immune to damage for a short period of time, and do something besides poke at something with a pointy sword. Better luck next time, Slayer of Arc the Lad.

Debonair: 12
Elc: 22

Beowulf Kadmus (FFT) Beowulf Kadmus vs Philia Felice Philia Felice (ToD)

Draco Ignifer
Unfortunately, with two castings of Chicken, even the most courageous warrior ends up a terrified fowl running for the corner of the battlefield.

Even more unfortunately, artificial boundaries like a ring have little to no impact upon the mind of a frightened bird.

And, most unfortunately of all, without Destroyer or Megalith, Philia isn't quite up to a one-hit kill, and doesn't have the speed to get in that second casting.

Beowulf Kadmus: 33
Philia Felice: 9

Gallows Caradine (WA3) Gallows Caradine vs Fiora Fiora (FE7)

superaielman
Gallows is legendary for his perversion, bad sense of style, and his inability to get anywhere with women.

Fiora is known for being weak to projectile weapons.

So when Gallows asked Fiora on a date at gunpoint, the crowd was certainly stunned. Would Gallow's plan somehow work?

Sadly for Gallows, Fiora also knew how bad of a shot he was. Even more sadly for Gallows, he actually tried to use his physical, instead of his magic.

They're still finding pieces of his outfit, scattered in the various corneres of the arena.

Gallows Caradine: 17
Fiora: 25

Kyra Tierny (PS4) Kyra Tierny vs Blastoise Blastoise (PKMN)

SageAcrin
The battle was epic.

Blasts of water shattered bones, while slashing blades cut at Blastoise's hard shell, searching for a weak point.

But, unfortunatly for the drunken Zidane, he really fights far worse drunk, and couldn't beat Blastoise even when he wasn't drunk, without a thief sword. Blastoise ended up putting Zidane through a wall.

Blastoise then staggered out onto the street, got his wallet stolen by Chaco(He never noticed.) and wandered out onto a dock to watch the sun rise.

Oh, the actual match? That was over in one shot of Tandle. Pity.

Kyra Tierny: 33
Blastoise: 19

Mia (GS) Mia vs Cagnazzo Cagnazzo (FF4)

SageAcrin
It started out all so...prosaic.

Mia blasted Cagnazzo with an ice spell, as her first action. As if she ever does anything else.

Cagnazzo, sporting dark glasses to help with his hangover, started to gather a massive wall of water around himself, in order to smash down the frail girl with his signature Big Wave attack.

Mia froze the water.

Leaving Cagnazzo stuck in a massive brace of ice.

Then sat down and started reading.

The judges eventually got bored and called the match in Mia's favor, and she didn't have to hurt anyone. Perfect match, as far as she cared.

Later that night, Cagnazzo wandered out onto the docks and shared some liquor with Blastoise, and the two watched the sun come up together, as friends.

Mia: 32
Cagnazzo: 14

Cray (BoF4) Cray vs Garet Garet (GS)

AAA
I gotta say, I'm thinking Garet on this one. Cray's... not bad, even though he comes from a mostly superior cast, including a Ryu, which is almost an automatic uber character. Garet, however, simply has him beaten, plain and simple. Nothing that Cray can do can stop him, and there's plenty Garet can do to stop Cray.

Period.

Cray: 17
Garet: 22

Luna (Lunar1) Luna vs Earnest Earnest (SF1)

Jo'ou Ranbu
Luna against Earnest is a match so sad that even the judges couldn't bear to watch.

Luna then did just the right thing to do: used her plot powers two days before the match to cast a spell that caused a suicidal depression spree over the entire Shining Force cast. They met together at Mr. Saturn Village and commited ritual mass suicide. That gave her the match, since Earnest never showed up.

Unfortunately, as part of the medical cast of the DL, she lost her voice healing all the wounds the Shining Force crew inflicted towards each other. She hasn't sung since.

Luna: 38
Earnest: 10

Ryu Hayabusa
Earnest had heard all the rumours - that Luna was an unstoppable, blood-gorged goddess of death, the ultimate singing weapon of apocalypse. It was said that countless men had fallen to her monstrous wiles and her endless appetite for destruction. And yet Earnest took courage, polished up his lance and flew into the ring, ready to duel to the death.

Luna meanwhile, took the time to play through Shining Force before the match, to study her opponent's abilities. However, she fell asleep in the middle of Chapter 1 and afterward fed the game to Nall in contempt.

Thus underestimating her opponent, Luna entered the ring, and the struggle began.

Steel clashed on steel as these two heroes did battle, grunting and roaring in pain and fury, seeking to exploit even the smallest mistake. The battle wore on, as Luna took wounds terrible enough to drop a musk-ox, only to immediately heal herself, while the whacks of her frying pan left Earnest groaning and staggering from severe brain damage. The ugliest part of the fight saw Luna mounted astride Earnest, trying to gnaw off his ear while he desperately jumped up and down, trying to shake her off. Her grip loosened - she flew off and seeing his chance Earnest lunged, skewering Luna with an impressive, japanimelike burst of blood.

"Oh no..." Luna gasped. "Please forgive me... Alex..."

And finally the grim battle was over. Children wept in the audience.

Chaz (SF2) Chaz vs Rico Banderas Rico Banderas (XG)

SageAcrin
You know, it can quite possibly be considered a rule of the DL. One of the very, very few.

The universe hates Shining Force 2.

When Rico entered the arena against Chaz, the rule hadn't truly been proven yet. After all, the only truly major example of this had been Geshp being beaten by Serge, and one miracle doesn't make for a rule.

However, as the crowd watched a injured Rico somehow manage to stagger to his feet, after a blast of Bolt 4, the event that made the rule happened.

As a flock of Dezolis penguins rushed into the arena and pecked Chaz to death.

No one really knows why Dezolis Penguins occasionally become violent, but they are quite possibly the most unstoppable force in existance when angered. Capable of withstanding all physical and magical blows, their powerful beaks can fell even the most powerful of Godlikes in one mighty peck.

Chaz was horribly doomed. As was most of the arena security. They eventually just ended up getting a bunch of mages to put the birds to sleep, and hauling their lard-laden feathery bodies to a nature preserve.

The entire footage of this match can be seen later tonight, on "When Dezolisian Penguins Attack-Part 2!" on the Flea/Odin/X-Death network.

Chaz: 19
Rico Banderas: 22

Cyan Garamonde (FF6) Cyan Garamonde vs Hawkeye Hawkeye (FE7)

Otter
Cyan holds a weapon triangle advantage and a speed advantage, here? Light's had some pathetic matches, but they're usually between blind girls and old, bald men, not vigorous honor-bound warriors. This might be the most depressing fight ever.

It's also massively dependent on interpretation, so I'm just going to wave this "Cyan for Light Champ!" flag I have here, and then I'm going to back out of this room real slow.

Cyan Garamonde: 42
Hawkeye: 19
