Season 50, Week 3
Ghaleon
(Lunar Series)

While he can be quite villainous, let it never be said that Ghaleon is a bigot. Able to see potential where many did not, he was able to recruit members of the scorned Vile Tribe to his cause, and certainly worked well enough with the beastman Master Mel in his original adventures. Ghaleon certainly appreciates the monstrous tribes of Tellius as potential allies as well. However, he also knows an important rule for running your monster army: always be able to "control" them. For instance, the ravens of Kilvas possess a horrendous weakness to being blown away by wind magic. They'll certainly be forced to respect a leader who could easily kill their King with doublecast Tornado, no? Naesala's sacrifice will be appreciated.

And so the Raven King moves onto the second round. It's not as if anyone expected differently, though. There's no way Naesala would accept losing his first match, especially not to some evil beorc supernerd. But Luther is behind him, and a far greater threat awaits the Raven King: the hallowed Godlike Champion, Magical Emperor Ghaleon. If he can take a match over this notable, Naesala will cement his place in the halls of Godlike. Sadly, it won't be easy. Fortunately for him, though, Ghaleon has one crippling weakness: being slower than dirt. As the fastest thing in his universe, Naesala is going to do his best to capitalize on that edge and rip through the Magic Emperor like a gale before he even gets going.

Naesala strutted confidantly into the arena, and despite what everyone else must think, he knew it was no act. No bluff going into a fight that no one thought he could win against the unstoppable Ghaleon, the strongest single fighter in the Duelling League. After all, sure he wasn't much of a fighter, but there were so many other ways to win a fight rather than brute force, and everyone has a price. And even the famed Magic Emperor of Lunar is no exception to that rule.

All it took was a bit of backroom negotiation; letting him know about the many benefits of being a personal friend of the Raven King, as well as the peerless quality of the intelligence services of Kilvas, and it was settled. As for the fight? Ghaleon would simply pretend to throw up a Chaos Shield, and swing his sword around to 'taunt' him. And Naesala himself? Simply do some loop de loops and fancy flying. After all, everyone knows Tellians only do fancy stunts when they critical so why would this be any different? Sure, six criticals in a row might be a bit much, but who can tell just why the dice fall as they do?

The plan was flawless, and Naesala would claim for himself the reputation of a legendslayer. And all it would take is selling out someone who might be a competitor for a purvayor of illicit services.

Sadly, none of this came to pass. As he was getting into his first extravagant loop an axe came out of nowhere and pelted Ghaleon right in the middle of his face, twice. A quick examination showed it to very definatly be a Brave Axe, used only by Fire Emblimites. And despite this being the first time in DL history where both contenders passionatly argued, threatened, and begged for it, the disqualification was not overturned on the grounds that even in the off chance that this wasn't one of his schemes, everyone knew Naesala was trying to get around the rules somehow anyways.

Meanwhile, on the Davros, home of Fargus, his pirates, and the newly crafted axe-ballista, Louise had ssecond thoughts.

"You sure we should have done that? I mean, maybe he might have won."

"Not a chance," Pent. "I mean, really, we all know he'd just get Fate Stormed to death in seconds. So we really are doing him a favour here."

"Well, I guess you are right. So, let's try that Bolt Axe we got next!"

"Sounds fun."

And so the crisis on the Davros was averted, and they sailed on under blue skies.
