Season 38, Week 2
Rubicant
(Final Fantasy IV)

It's been quite awhile since the most honorable (and most successful) of all the Final Fantasy Fiends has set foot in the arena to do battle, and Rubicant is itching for a duel against a worthy opponent. And really, who could be a more worthy and noble opponent then Lenneth Valkyrie herself, she who has struck down many herself amongst Godlike with grace and valor? So, it is with great pride that the noble fiend sets out to take down this lofty foe with the same overkill fire magic, determination and intensity that propelled him into Godlike so many seasons ago. With the almighty Scorch at his command, solid speed and counters to rake up additional damage, Rubicant will strike down a very Goddess of Battle this week and prove his right, once again, to walk here among the gods!

It has been a long time, Lenneth. Our current situation is as follows: Seven seasons have past since the last time you fought in the halls of the RPGDL, and since then, you have gained many new powers, including the instantaneous Heal spell. And now, we once more desire warriors. Send us a man whose control of fire surpasses that of even the Lord of Muspelheim, Surt! Send us a man who is honourable, yet capable of leading his fellow gods into vicious battle! You shall find this man as your opponent in the arena this week. The Lord Odin, fresh from his own victory, is pleased with you, and bids me give you these: a Fairy Garb, imparting resistance to all heat, and the proof of your power of creation: the sacred sword Glance Reviver. Fare thee well; we expect good news!

Rubicant had a dream.

That of sampling the true power of a god.

This time, he would see it through.

---

It was a chaotic battle.

Brilliant, shining lances, plummetting from the sky.

Towers of flame that reached the heavens.

The power of the divine against the power of the demon.

But in the end, it wasn't a cliche ending.

Rubicant stood triumphant.

However, he was robbed of his truest desire.

"...no. You can't." Valvalis replied from the judge's box. "And that's really damned creepy." "But I..." "No." "I earned the right!" "No."

It turns out that Rubicant has always wondered what weird god wings taste like charbroiled.

Sadly, he won't find out until he gets more forgiving judges.

Rubicant: 52
Lenneth Valkyrie: 38

Lenneth equips Tri-Emblem for 100% fire resistance, a ring of healing and two metabolizers for instant healing; Skill first aid in case ring of healing and metabolizers failed to do their job, toughness for double the HP, and psycosoma for added strentgh; she definitely has this in a bag and a big headache for the DL healers who are trying to piece Rubicant together.
