Season 32, Week 1
Serge
(Chrono Cross)

Arni's premier silent fisherman, hero, ghost boy, and all-around favorite citizen is back once again to defend the honor of home, country, and Chrono Cross in general. While the axe-wielding Presea humbled Serge in his last outing, he has spent all his time since learning the ways of Heavy, mastering fiercer swallow techniques, and fine-tuning his most powerful Techs, from Dash&Slash to Luminaire. Armed with his signature Mastermune, which grants both an uncanny ability to strike critical blows and valuable HP regeneration, Serge is ready for anything. Naturally, that claim will be stretched to the limit against the crazed Malik's status-based battle techniques, but the Prophet's frail constitution will be his downfall. With that little staying power, the madman will be easily dispatched by any means Serge cares to choose, it will be a fast battle, but that leaves just that much more time to train for the challenges ahead.

Malik Benedict has always been one to live on the edge. Whether it's due to raising his mother from the dead, tapping into the powers of demons, or never-ending battling with pesky Drifters who prattle on about wings, you can't say his life has lacked for excitement. So why, then, have the schedulers served him such an easy opponent? Sure, Serge may be a former Godlike, but he is one whose entire strategy revolves around physical blows. That won't work against Malik, whose demonic, semi-ethereal body simply can not be hit by such crude attacks. With no way to store AP, Serge has no way to cast spells to get around the strongest Prophet's defensive game, and even if he did, the speedy Malik could simply inflict his multitude of status effects upon Serge first. It will be a boring win for Malik, but maybe that's for the best - after all, Geshp can testify to what happens when there's excitement involved in a Serge match.

Tide
There is always one big disadvantage to being a mute protagonist.

You can never really state what you want as a wish or Christmas gift.

And thus, this is how instead of a win against Malik, Serge got a giant goatee, some milk, the entire Smurf DVD collection, a digital camera, a large can of tuna fish and a pointy hat before his match. Sure he caught Malik off guard for a second, but there was still nothing he could do about the prophet's perfect evasion.

In other news, Serge will be attending "Mario's miming classes" once he gets out of the infirmary. That or he learns to talk...whichever one is more suitable.
