This post will be for the stats of all the characters once I get to the end-game, although I doubt there are any changes, really.

Equipment resists for the PS1 version, from a JP website.  This isn't backed up by multiple sites like the DQ5/6 resist info I have, so I'm not quite as confident on the accuracy.  I won't have access to the game again for about 2 weeks, so any help testing this stuff would be appreciated.

Fire/cold-breaths mean pretty much anything of that element that isn't a spell, most of which tend to be breath-type moves, depending on the translation.

Magic Vestment, Magical Skirt, Liquid Metal Armor, Pandemonic Armor: 2/3 damage from Fire/Ice/Wind magic
Flowing Dress, Angel Leotard: 2/3 damage from fire magic, fire/cold-type breaths
Dragon Mail: -20 damage from fire/cold-type breaths
Zenithian Armor: 2/3 damage from magic, resist ID and Confusion

Iron Shield: -5 damage from fire/cold-type breaths
Dragon Shield: -25 damage from fire/cold-type breaths
Power Shield: -15 damage from fire/cold-type breaths
Mirror Shield: 2/3 damage from spells, 25% chance of reflecting spells
Zenithian Shield: -30 damage from fire/cold-type breaths
Pandemonic Shield: -30 damage from fire/cold-type breaths
Liquid Metal Shield: -40 damage from fire/cold-type breaths

Golden Tiara: Resist Confusion
Zenithian Helmet: Resist Confusion, Paralysis, Sleep
Pandemonium Helmet: Resist ID, Paralysis, Sleep
Liquid Metal Helmet: Resist Confusion, Paralysis, Sleep

Edit: Here's another site that agrees with all of the above except Flowing Dress, which it has listed as resisting everything.  It has different status resists for the helmets on a different page, though.

Edit (December): Flowing Dress does not resist wind magic.  I think it's safe to assume it doesn't get ice magic, either, but I had trouble finding a monster with Kacrackle to test.

Also, I can confirm that the status resists are just that, resists and not immunities.  I've seen both Solo and Alena get confused for instance, although it's pretty rare.

Percentage based resists seem to be applied before absolute reductions.  Borya with Liquid Metal Shield+Flowing Dress was nulling out ice breaths that did 40+ damage even to Solo with the Zenithian Shield.

Weird, thought I posted here already..

I can confirm the resists based on my own tests/PSX version. Those resists are also outright immunity for status blocking purposes.

Chapter 5 stats here, taken at approximately ~380K exp for everyone, except Solo who gets his boost from talking to Master Dragon - and is still tied for lowest level, go figure.

Physical damage is taken against 90 enemy defense, which is reasonably averagish for randoms at or near the final dungeon.  Spells listed in italics are useful for team situations (RPGmon, Dungeon, etc.) only.  All stat modifiers and non-fatal status effects wear off in about 6 turns, unlike in the original.

The Miracle Sword is a borderline case on legality.  You get two of them in Chapter 5, and four people who can equip it (Solofia, Ragnar, Kiryl, Torneko).  Solofia has a stronger sword in the Zenithian and Ragnar can equip the Dragonsbane for only a bit less power, while Kiryl and Torneko want it badly as they'll lose a ton of damage otherwise.  Still, it has theoretical use for Solofia and especially Ragnar, so I'm listed them without it by default.

Now for some misc info.

Sparkie

HP 258
MP 0
Strength 195
Agility 35
Resilience 17
Wisdom 6
Luck 20

Attack 195
Defense 160

Physical: 75 damage
Chilly Breath: 50 Ice elemental damage, MT
Sweet Breath: Sleep, MT

Silver Tarot Cards

Meena can use these as an item to produce random effects, mostly duplications of a spell.  This is unique to her, unlike the usual itemcasting.  The possible effects are:

Devil card: Kasap
Death card: Whack
Justice: Poof (remove enemies from battle, ala Black Dragon Grief)
Sun: Multiheal
Moon: Dazzle
Strength: Oomph
Star: Double exp and gold earned at the end of battle
Tower: 0.5 to 2x Meena's level damage to all enemies
Fool: Thwack on allied party

6 positive effects to 1 negative is a pretty good ratio, but nothing is reliable and the fact that Oomph and Dazzle wear off means that realistically the only thing she can use this for is a really low rate of ID.  The self-ID chance of Fool is still problematic, so she probably can't afford to risk this unless she has Angel Leotard equipped for resistance.

Itemcasts

I omitted these from the main posts as I don't allow them myself; they can be used by anyone, regardless of whether or not he or she can equip the actual item.  Still, for those who do allow it here's a list of itemcasting effects.

Zenithian Sword: Disrupting Wave
Zenithian Shield: Bounce
Power Shield: Midheal
Dream Blade: Kasnooze
Fire Claw: Sizzle
Cautery Sword: Sizz

Re: Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen (The DS Remake)
Some extra numbers from my playthrough (to Ch. 4 end as of yesterday).  I was sick the past couple of days, so I decided to run some End of Ch. 4 tests.

Chapter 1:

Healie:  35 HP, 30 MP.

Ragnar:  (With 1 Life Seed)
Level 9 (when facing Psaro's Pawn):  76 HP (81 HP)
Level 10 (End of Chapter, but w/o Burnard's Bonus):  84 HP (89 HP)

The only damage data I have is vs Psaro's Pawn.  Note for the below that Ragnar had Iron Shield equipped.
Coughs up a Fireball:  2 attacks on Ragnar: 4,5  (Avg. 4.5, again w/Iron Shield, so 9.5 without...)
Frizz (Blaze):  4/4 vs Ragnar, ~9 Average.  0/1 vs Healie
Sizzle (Firebal):  10,17,14 on Ragnar ; 0/3 against Healie.   Average Damage: 14 to Ragnar.
P. Pawn Physical:  8 to Healie.  (28 Def; Ragnar had 49 Def. at the time.)

Ragnar did an average of 33 Damage against Psaro's Pawn, average taken over 5 hits.  Healie was 1/3 for 1 Damage.  Sizz Itemcasted through Cautery Sword was 3/5 with an average Damage of 19, which is close to Mara's values below.

Don't have a save file anymore, so I can't test speed.  Besides, being faster than Ragnar isn't saying much, especially comparing to end-game averages.  BTW, for Temps/Bosses with only a single main PC, I would favor taking the numbers relative to that particular PC's point vs the End-game Averages.

Psaro's Pawn had 200-222 HP in my playthrough.  This is close to the cited figure of 250.  Important for the monologue on HP later on:

I do have a save file for Chapter 3 near-end which means I can rehire Laurel and Hardie, if I can find a good consistent enemy to test against...

EDIT 5/15:  There was 1 area I could test for vs all sorts of enemies:  Turn Speed.

Enemies were the various parties around the forest moon of Endor and the first two floors of the Cave of the Statue.  13 tests against groups of 2 enemies were conducted (no tests against single foes counted).  Any time a Party member couldn't act because all the enemies were destroyed would then still count as 3rd place.  For 7 of these tests, the monsters were able to get a turn in.  1 of these had both monsters act and was discounted in the monster comparisons, but for full disclosure, in that encounter, Enemy 1> Taloon>Laurel>Enemy 2>Hardie.  The other 6 tests were used as the basis for vs. Local Enemies.

I had Taloon at Level 10 and had 6+ Iron Armors and Steel Broadswords at the time, so it was "end-of-Chapter" for all intents.  Taloon's Agility was 23, Laurel's 18, and Hardie's 15.

Mr. Taloon went first out of the 3 companions 69% of the time, with an equal chance of going 2nd or 3rd.
Hardie went third 54% of the time, second 38% of the time, and first only 8% of the time (1/13)
Laurel went second 46% of the time, third 31% of the time, and first 23% of the time.

For the 6 tests that included monsters getting a single turn, Taloon and the Monsters basically traded turns, while Laurel went 3rd 50% of the time and Hardie went 4th 50% of the time.

So, by these tests, Taloon=Monsters>Laurel>Hardie.
END EDIT

I did find such an enemy in Chapter 4 that isn't named Balzack or Leon.  But he is a king...

General numbers are tested against King Slime.  Yes, King Slime.  Since the Sphere of Silenece can be used against it, magic numbers can be obtained.

A note on Woosh.  Woosh's numbers had a very broad range.  For both vs King Slime and vs Balzack, the variance between Max Damage and Min Damage was about 15.  This is as opposed to the Fire/Boom series of spells, which only vary between 5 and 8.  Am not sure whether this is an innate quality of the spell or if this is merely a function of the respective foes.  This is important in how you look at these foes.  Basically, if you see the discrepancy as an innate function of the opponent, then add 6 damage to Woosh (21 in both cases) and add to each: Has 50% chance of resisting Wind Damage 50%.

For Speed, I took the observed turn order.  In practice, anybody can be anywhere in the order; however there are some consistent values when taken over a large sample (about 15 turns) as you'll see.  For King Slime, order was taken both with KS itself and whenever KS was its constituent Slimes, that is, the slime group was consolidated into 1 enemy and, if the slime group's "turn" was "interrupted" by party members, the (first) two phases were taken and averaged.  Fastest foe was also recorded.  Values given were Average Phase, Median Phase, and number of instances in 1st, 2nd, 3rd or later.

Also, from these tests, Damage is not straight subtraction, but it does seem to be a subtraction-based function.

The following numbers will be used both against King Slime and against Balzack.  Nara and Mara were taken at Level 11 with the best storebought items.  This includes Holy Lance for Nara, which I am assuming is non-elemental until otherwise proven.  I also used 1 Life Seed and 1 Magic Seed for the sisters (Orin can't take them...).  Numbers (with) and without the seeds will be listed, the latter being used for averages:

N Name   Oojam   Meena   Maya
O Name   Orin   Nara   Mara
HP:   95   62(68)   64(70)
MP:   N/A   48(52)   65(70)
Str:   40   27   9
Agi:   8   24   15
Res:   4   12   7
Wis:   22   26   31
Luck:   4   38   33
Atk:   68   60   33
Def:   38   57   37

Attacks vs King Slime:
Orin Physical:  28
Nara Physical:  24

Nara Woosh:  15 Wind
Mara Physical:  9
Mara Sizz**:  21 Fire

** I didn't test Fizz or Bang.  From the tests upcoming, I assume that Bang's numbers will be similar to Sizz.

Average Damage:  24.26;  Kill Point: 60.65
Average HP:  73.7 (77.7)
Orin's HP relative to Average: 129% (122.3%)
Orin's HP relative to N-M: 150.8% (137.7%)
Orin's Physical relative to Average Damage: 115.4%
Orin's Physical relative to N-M:  124.4%
Average MP between the girls: 56.5 (61)  Only important if we can ever get a MP range for Balzack.

Averages relative to N-M I can't do anything with until I get to endgame.

Average Damage done by King Slime (3-4 hits each):
Orin:  9
Nara:  6
Mara: 10

Speed Table:
Name   Avg.   Med.   1   2   3   Later
Orin   2.6   2   7%   53%   20%   20%
Nara   1.1   1   93%   7%   0%   0%
Mara   3.7   4   0%   0%   33%   67%
Fast   2.7   3   0%   40%   47%   13%
Avg.   3.4   3.5   0%   13%   27%   60%

Orin goes before than Mara 80% of the time, First Slime 40% of the time, and Slime Average 67% of the time.

So, basically, Nara>1st Enemy=Orin>Mara.

Most Pure Physicals are Light and Orin doesn't seem to be an exception.  Especially since he appears to have Average speed.

Now... we add Balzack.
Apparently, HP score is also randomly determined.  Over 6 Tests, I got a Min. Average of 415 and a Max Average of 449, with a lowest Max Damage of 400.  The actual Average is 432 (5.86xAvgHP).  Incidentally, 5.86x24.26(AvgDam) = 142 HP; 3 times that is about 426.5 HP, which is rather close to this figure.
Vulnerable to Silence, Sap
Immune to Sleep (0/7), ID (2 Criticals with Poison Needle, both read 1 HP), Paralysis (Poison Moth Knife had about a 10% chance of inflicting Paralysis, Balzack was never inflicted.)

Damage done by Balzack:  (Orin/Nara/Mara)
Physical:  24.5/21.5/26  (Basically 15/16/16 more than King Slime)
Sizz:  13/14.5/14.5 (Average 14) Fire Magic MT
Spits a Fireball:  7.5/8/8 (Average 8) Firebreath MT  (Best shield here is Scale.)
Fullheal:  Total/Morale/Failure

So Nara's Defense knocks off about 3-4 HP to physical attacks.  (Meaning Avg. Dam would do 20.25 to Nara and 24.25 to the others...)

Damage done to Balzack:
Orin Physical: 24 (-4)
Nara Physical: 21 (-3)
Nara Woosh: 15*
Mara Physical: 7 (-2)
Mara Frizz: 10*
Mara Sizz: 21*
Mara Bang: 20.5*

* By observation, Balzack seems to have a 25% chance of nulling Magic Damage.  In practice, he had about a 8/15 success rate against Woosh, a 2/14 rate against Sizz, 1/13 against Fizz, and Bang wasn't resisted when I was taking numbers, but it was resisted at a later test.

Average Damage before Magic Nulling:  22; 2.26 less than King Slime's.
Using Mara's Physical, Physical Damage average is 17.3, vs KS's 20.3, meaning 117.3% Physical Durability.
Don't think that DQ has Magic Durability; at least not at this stage, so the 25% null chance serves.

Sap was effective against Balzack; Physicals then become 32, 31, and 17.  This represents an increase of an average of 9.5 Damage.

Speed Table:
Name   Avg.   Med.   1   2   3   4
Orin   2.94   3.0   1   2   10   3
Nara   1.75   1.5   8   5   2   1
Mara   3.50   4.0   1   1   3   11
Bal.   1.81   2.0   6   8   1   1

So Balzack swaps turns with Nara (Nara winning the Tie-break), with Orin usually going before Mara.

With just a little over 2xPCHP Durability plus the ability for Full Healing and above average speed, this form does Balzack some good.  Vulnerability to Silence is a knock against, though.  Still seems like a good Middle on paper.

Nara wishes she could use these numbers...

As another point of interest, I have Master Kung's HP at 40 for a single trial.  Extremely low, true, but with my research on Balzack, I now have a theory on why: Random value within range.  Kung is probably the only other boss we can reasonably test this against, as you don't need to grind through a dungeon to get to him.  (Just a half-day's journey through the overworld.)  (Oh, and Ch. 5 Leon and Balzack as well, but that's for later...)
Also, I have Kung being vulnerable to Sleep, 2/2.  Then again, he wakes up within 2 turns...

EDIT 5/15:  Team Taloon's Speed Test

Opinion Edit (Sept 17):  Looking over Hinode's (Chapter 5) numbers for FIT purposes; I noticed that Solo/fia's Agility is 180% that of Raganr's.  Since Alena's is 200% of Kiryl's, I just take both Alena and Ragnar as outliers and discard both, giving me an average for the remaining 6 of 89 Agility.

I do have numbers for some Chapter 5 Bosses... which I should publish... whenever I can get the gumption to run actual tests against said bosses...

Any particular reason for omitting the Liquid Metal Sword, Falcon Blades, and the mini-medal rewards?

Falcon Knife Earrings are also plausible for the sisters.

Some information since hinode noted it but didn't spell it out: Alena's crit rate is level/255 in the NES version, and 3/4 her level/255 in the DS version.  Her crit rate is 15% in the NES version, and 11% in the DS version. It rises to 13% if you take C6 as endgame instead of C5.

Related to that, the crit rate for everyone else is 1/64.
