With a championship and adoring fans behind him, the DL's mightiest old man continues on with his domineering run in a brand new division! Faced with brand new foes, Adray's years of experience will be a great advantage against his opponent this week, Jeane, who steps into the arena for the first time in her career. Her powerful lightning rune, while a threat to many warriors, will prove useless when Adray summons up Anti, reducing the powerful bolts of lightning to mere watts. Of course, all of this assumes that the Suikoden magess isn't deprived of all her magic in a single one of Adray's strikes! And as always, Adray's limitless healing powers will be a significant boon as well. All-in-all, despite Jeane's raw power, once again, the versatility of the great old man Adray will prove triumphant!

The first known member of the Jeane clan (or perhaps Jeane’s oldest participation as a Star of Destiny, depending on who you ask) is also the only one to actively participate in battle, and thus the first to see action in the Arena. This also means she gives up a sizable experience advantage to her current opponent, but that hardly means she’s in for a tough time. Unlike practically every other female in the Duelling League, Jeane welcomes the somewhat disturbing attentions of the male species, so little that the Arena can bring to bear will faze her. As for Adray himself, well, the old man has no defense against her Lightning Rune, meaning he’ll be fried into charcoal just as quickly as every other roadblock this season as Jeane blazes her trail through the soon-to-be blackened halls of Middle.

-Before the match-
Adray eyed the young man ashew. "This will really work? Women with high grade magic and myself don't mix well.."
"It'll work fine, geezer! Just do as I say.." Edge's grin certainly didn't set Adray at ease, but considering his options...
---
Edge stood in the crowd, shrugging. Jeane and the old perv were just jawing before the match. Looked like things were working out well. Jeane was seeting, and Adray was blustering up to his big finale..
"Oh yeah?! Your so called damage? I laugh at it! I bet it can't even knock out the likes of EDGE!"
The arena went deadly silent at the sound of that. It's one thing to insult a mage's ability to take a hit, be properly dressed, have enough MP, or have a use. It's quite another to claim that they can't dispose of Edge "Die to a magical nosebleed" Eblan in a single strike.
Looking around, Edge found himself suddenly surrounded by empty seats. Looking at the arena, he saw an enraged Jeane staring at him, and thunderclouds forming above his head. With nowhere to run and everything going according to plan, there were only four words that properly described Edge's mindset.
"..I hope this works.."
---
Rydia was across the arena. Why would Jeane leave her a note about sending a message? ..And why were people fleeing from a spot near the ring? Walking to get a better vantage point, she saw that it was her erstwhile boyfriend Edge standing alone, with a worried look on his face. The arena suddenly shook as if hit by a powerful attack. It was obvious where the attack had struck. The lighting bolt had utterly destroyed the area around Edge, and had struck down the ninja prince with pathetic ease. Rydia quickly ran over to Edge, along with medics of various stripes. The crowd was muttering. To the surprise of Rydia, instead of cheering at the frying of the pervert, the crowd was fully behind Edge.
"She.. attacked him for no good reason?" Rydia's expression was as stunned as her voice.
"...Yep..." Rydia whipped her head around, with the same dumbfounded look on her face. Amazingly, the bolt had not managed to kill Edge, or even knock him out for long. "Luckily... I had on a Gold Ring.. else I wouldn't be in one piece." Edge coughed weakly, and somehow found the energy to stand.
Rydia's face was a mask of pure fury. "She did WHAT?!" Without another word, Rydia launched a Bahamut spell that utterly leveled anything in it's path, including Jeane, and the arena wall and floor behind Jeane. It was easy for Adray to land a light blow to finish off the rune mistress, after all that.
---
Edge limped over to where a grinning Yuri was standing. "Mmph. Rydia and Jeane in a fight to the death, and not a drop of perversion occured. Let's call it even?" Noticing Yuri's smug nod, Edge smiled. "Come on. If we hurry up, we can go watch the cleaning crew scrape up what's left of Zidane."

The ways for Jeane to win this match are innumerous, ranging from simply incinerating him to fatal heart attack. And frankly all of that is too easy to predict, which takes the mystery out of it.
Thus, Jeane clearly needed another plan.
Her solution is baffling and probably shouldn't have worked, but this is Jeane. With the brilliant and impenetrable disguise of pants and a sensible blouse, Jeane was able to unknowingly convince Adray to let her work on his runes. Unfortunately for Adray, he isn't familiar with Suikoden's rune system, meaning he wouldn't recognize the difference between Soul Eater and Rune of Punishment.
As it turns out, Jeane only added a single Rune. The Wall Rune.
This, of course, meant that Adray was force to sit there, unable to do anything but defend, as Jeane beat him to death with her staff.
I'd like to think Jeane beating a man with her staff is something that the vast majority of people never think about, at the least, and certainly Adray had never pondered this concept. His ego may well never recover. Jeane, meanwhile, has managed to raise even more questions about her, a feat so impressive that doing so may well drive some people mad. But that's a story for next week.

Four female opponents in a row? Sheesh. Adray is never going to find his daughter a husband at this rate.
