Season 43, Week 4
Hahn Mahlay
(Phantasy Star 4)

Gentle, kind scholar meets rugged, menacing war fugitive; Hahn can't say he isn't used to the ironies of chance. However, the irony that makes him chuckle in his match is that, in spite of vastly different upbringings, the scholar from Mile is a notably superior dueler. Brad sports ARMs and good physical durability. However, Hahn has mastery over a wide array of magics, able to disable, damage and outright destroy enemies, and heal himself, as well. The difference in variety is staggering, but it all boils down to a single attack: Eliminate. Brad is even slower than Hahn (impressive, since Hahn is far from nimble), and he has no protection against Eliminate's instant death. This will be over fast, and no other detail matters. Truly a pity for Brad Evans.

Brad Evans is One Bad Dude, and he has just finished decimating a puny old man with some rather pathetic magics in the arena. Hardly a match for a solid Bazooka shot, he was. And if THAT doesn’t prove his badassness enough, his next opponent SURELY will. Hahn Mahley is a young student studying in the town of Piata, and he is not a brave man but he is compassionate and cares about his compatriots and the power to kill those who would go walk into the darkness to join forces wi-BAM! That noise heard just now was Brad splattering the peace lovin’ Hahn’s brains against the Arena's walls! All the happiness and kindness in the world can’t compare to a good ol’ fashioned rail gun, locked onto its target like a shark to blood in the murky waters!

A railgun is a beautiful thing.

Massive.

Broad.

Long.

Majestic, impressive, imposing...

Capable of bringing any target to their knees.

"But it's really kinda overcompensating, isn't it?" Hahn noted, as Brad crumpled to the ground, a victim of Hahn's deadly instant death spells. "I mean, really."

"Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going home to sleep with my girlfriend." Hahn commented to Brad's corpse.

Hahn Mahlay: 28
Brad Evans: 14

"This is Jeopardy!"
Amazing that Brad agreed to Hahn's idea. Seems he had a desire to win on a game show. Or maybe it was rumors he didn't have a chance in a straight fight. Even more amazing that the judges went for it but when Citan, Lucca, and Lexis are involved, miracles do happen. It also keeps Luther busy. Commanding two humanoid clones takes a lot of concentration.

Mixed reactions from the audience. Here are some snippets:
"Ken Jennings? Who the hell is he?"
"Ha, Hahn's getting schooled."
"So is Brad."
"So whichever of the two has less money loses. What happens if they both tie for last?"
"We'll deal with that should we come to it. Why not enjoy the show?" replies Citan.
"Boring!" whines Tidus.
"For once, I agree with you boy." Jecht concedes.
