Season 37, Week 1
Fuse
(SaGa Frontier)

With all the various villians and crazies floating around the Duelling League, there's always some problem that needs suppressing. So it's no shock at all that it took Fuse, the DL's chief law enforcement officer, well over twenty seasons to return to action. Raquel Applegate's not an easy win, but no matter. Fuse doesn't bother picking on weaklings and losers. He'll need the full defensive powers of Mind Magic to outlast his foe here. The stat boosts from Awakening will give the officer enough defense to survive even Raquel's nastiest attacks. From then on out, it's a matter of smashing Raquel with Sky Twisters and staying in the fight with MindHeal. Relying on his large advantage in speed and defensive skills may make for a painful fight, but it's one Fuse can certainly win.

Really, there are few things as overrated as healing. It's wonderful to be able to mend your injuries immediately, but what good is it when someone hits you harder than you can possibly recover from, and then harder still? And what if two, three or four of those strikes could be chained together in a single turn, leaving no opportunity to heal between blows? That's the power Raquel brings to the table. She hits and hits hard, each attack doing massive amounts of damage. Certainly, MindHeal can mend much of that abuse, but what can it do when Intrude comes into play? All she needs is one turn to build FP, and then it's over. Fuse can't keep up when he's getting hit three or four times in a row. Veteran policeman or not, Raquel will slice through this darkness with ease.

Fuse's frustrated grimance spoke volumes. In spite of literally running circles around Raquel, his best attacks barely dented her- when they actually hit. Worse, a single physical from Raquel was enough to force him to heal. Her physical attacks were extremely powerful, and she had healing of her own with Dragon Edge. Remembering the report on Raquel, a few other things stood out that she hadn't used.

"Intrude." The worse sounded like a bitter curse in Fuse's mouth. He had serious doubts if he could survive two attacks from Raquel, let alone a chain of them. And judging by the way she was moving and attacking, she was extremely close to letting loose a chain of Intrude-physicals combos, spelling the end for the police officer.

Fuse and Raquel stopped attacking when a rather battered spaceship landed right outside the ring. Fuse just rolled his eyes when Edge popped out of the spaceship. This couldn't be good news. The ninja quickly ran over to fuse, only to whisper into his ear.

"Fuse, good to see you. I have to talk to you about an official matter relating to DL policework."

"..Royce?"

"Among other things."

"I'm so in. Better than getting my ass handed to me by Raquel." Fuse's quick explaination forfeit caused some sighing among the crowd, who had wanted to see some serious bloodletting. One handshake with Raquel and a wave to his few fans, and Fuse was in the spaceship, flying off for sure to be half baked adventure with Edge.
