Although the prince of Renais is just trying to maintain peace and order in the world after dispatching the Demon Lord and he's proved that he’s still got what it takes to channel that into combat by beating the Pokemon Zapdos! Now he faces one of Tales of Symphonia’s finest, Presea Combatir, and he won’t stand for losing to some girl. No matter how circumstances conspire against him, Ephraim knows that all he needs to do to win is unleash the full power of his spear, Siegmund. He might lack variety, but Ephraim is the master of all things that involve lance-stabbing and spear-throwing, and no obstacle can stop him once he sets his mind to a goal - and right now, his goal is the Heavy championship. No one will stand in his way, least of all a puny little axe-wielder.

Having dispatched the bothersome Arni fisherman, Presea can focus on eliminating the next threat to her Heavy run, the Prince of Renais. Ephraim bears more similarities to Serge than you might think, for just as Serge depends on the might of his legendary Mastermune to hold his own against a strong opponent, so too does Ephraim depend upon the mighty Seigmund to fell the toughest of foes. Since he can do nothing but deal out punishing blows, this Lord will find himself strained to keep up with the equally-punishing but more resilient Presea, staggering under her skilled axe strokes as she takes each thrust of his lance in stride. It will be a short and brutal battle, and there can be no question that Ephraim will tire well before the implacable axe girl.

Axe>Spears.
No, it's not quite what you think.
You see, Fire Emblem does have a strange weapon triangle, but that's not what's referenced here.
Ephraim entered the arena with his legendary lance, Seigmund, brilliantly shining, it's power to destroy evil evident to all that looked at it.
Presea entered the arena with Diablos. The massively evil, living, Devil Arm.
Normally, this isn't optimal for her-Presea isn't the type to massacre hundreds of people/animals just to get a shiny weapon, after all. But this case was special.
For, as the battle began, Ephraim lunged at Presea, hoping to take advantage of his speed to quickly end the match...
...And Presea thrust her axe directly in the way.
...Which promptly ate Seigmund.
Needless to say, Ephraim forfeited and Presea went on to the next match.
Unfortunatly, L'arachel heard about the whole thing, and, out of random curiousity, snuck into Presea's room and used a Hammerne Stave on the axe. Which still had the chewed up Seigmund inside.
So now the Seigmund is restored, albiet covered in a coat of slime no one's willing to clean off, L'arachel has an absolute hatred of animate weapons and some bite marks on her arms, Diablos has a dislocated lower jaw, and Ephraim still has no clue exactly what happened.
So, Axe>Spear>Axe, evidently.
And remember, Hammerne Staves are a good form heartburn medicine....if, that is, you want to cause it.
Ephraim: 23
Presea Combatir: 31

Poking a little girl with a spear. Sounds so dirty, doesn't it?
Fortunately, Albedo's already in intensive care for the season, along with most of the ToS cast. No one's exactly going to object to it, in this case.
Match to Ephraim.

Ironic that Ephraim loses because of his own game's weapon system.
Axe > Lance
