Poor Hahn Mahlay. This gentle and nerdy scholar from Krup, Motavia, has never been exactly lucky. In addition to being Alys Brangwin's primary source of extortion during the first half of Phantasy Star IV, he had many bad draws in the DL - the most notable one being Strago Magus in Season 6. Yes, Hahn Mahlay was the first victim of the now infamous "Strago vs. PSIV" run. Not a very glorious record for someone who helped Chaz and his friends submit the Profound Darkness into oblivion.

Despite his bad luck, though, Hahn is actually a very competent dueller: he has plentiful healing, fairly competent magical damage in Astral and his Wat spells and instant death with his Vol techniques and Eliminat. Finally, he has speed and attack-crippling magics in Doran and Gelun. Drawbacks? Hahn isn't the most durable of fighters, and he is rather slow to boot. Still, he is a force to be reckoned with in Middle, Strago Magus be damned.
