Merry Christmas!
« on: December 25, 2014, 11:12:43 PM »
What'd you get this year?

I got:

50% of a smartphone (I paid half)
Glass boot
A fancy lunchbox
Several small shot bottles of liquor
Several shirts, including a WoT shirt
Lotto tickets, won 20 bucks on them
Toaster oven
Ice scraper
Winter hat

I'm happy. Gave a bunch of cool gifts as well. Gave the parents money, gave the roomie tickets to a football game (sigh), had a good Christmas even with the drive home

CDs:

My and the wife's big present to ourselves this year was a Wii U. With (too many) games: Mario 3D World, Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, Smash, DKC Tropical Freeze.
I also got:

A new bluetooth headset for my phone
An 18-in-one multitool
A laser-shark office toy
A whole bunch of gift cards to the Alamo Drafthouse
Magnetic poetry
So much candy and chocolate
An awesome gag tie

Some of my loot went from me to myself. Which includes:

- Pokémon Alpha Sapphire
- Shin Megami Tensei IV
- An iPhone 5c

The rest is mostly utilitarian, though I'll never complain about those:

- A new social shirt
- A new, spacious wallet
- A new perfume (which is pretty good and useful in and out of itself)
- Three new jeans
- A new polo shirt

Nothing amazing, but hardly bad considering how uninvested I am in this holiday season.

I was given alcohol and cake. Christmas is weird in Japan.

So you mean to say that in Glorious Nippon djinn gets exactly what he'd want anyway.

Loot:
-$1100
-some driving gloves
-O'hara's Irish Country Cream
-what I take to be some work pants
-$10 gc for Steak & Shake

And of course
-pretty sure the HD in the laptop is dead.  If not that then something else major because it'll turn on but nothing boots and the hd is clearly not spinning.

And since it'll be four or five months before a functional computer will be on the market, basically December 25 was kitten-punchingly bad even though Christmas was great.  I made like half the food, most of it was gone even though the torte was ludicrously dense, the mac was chunky and the cranberries where too tart.  Oddly the least eaten thing was the one that really turned out, the sweet potato mash.

I got 450 bucks from various people to help pay for my plane ticket. Covered quite a bit of it :)

I also got some house shoes, some pajamas, Frozen and Wreck it Ralph DVDs, pumpkin bread, Peach and Zelda Amiibo, 2015 Wheel of Time calender, and Captain Toad Treasure Tracker. EDIT: And a 50 dollar gift card to EBGames and a 30 dollar gift card to Starbucks :)

Way, way too much stuff. I gave some gifts I'm pretty proud of, but feel like I let a lot of people down a lot, too.

Who knew gift giving was so loaded, man.

Best gift received: my dad rented a motorcycle and we took a couple long rides around the Bay Area.

I donated a bunch of PS3s because Radio Shack of all places somehow had them for $60 for 160 GB models.  Bought the whole stock and gave them away.

I got in return was Kingdom Hearts 2.5HD, both Danganronpa games, and influenza with a middle ear infection to go with it.

I gave a bunch of stuff, got some stuff.  Giving people things is good and makes me feel good.  I like having existence validated.  Especially when people appreciate it.  I didn't give nearly as much as Eph.  That is pretty fucking awesome Eph.

Hooray for existence.

Indeed.

I have been receiving mystery gifts in the mail! Thank you very much to the secret Santas who sent a cat book, candy (butter fudge and rhubarb/custard lollipop, delicious), and toy mice (though the toy mice might have been something I ordered, then forgot about, that came late) :)

No relatives come by, so I didn't have to give out much this year.
Thus, I end up spending 1/4 of my year bonus to purchase yaoi doujins just for myself out of the FuyuComi.
It feels very very good. Relatives, don't come by next year too.
