You have no heart or soul if you think Welcome Home is a bad ending.

Always brings a tear to my eye.
Rocky: you do know what an A-bomb is, right?
Bullwinkle: A-bomb is what some people call our show!
Rocky: I don't think that's very funny...
Bullwinkle: Neither do they, apparently!

It really is only maximised with Gun Buster 2.  The Time Dilation stuff being played with was far better.

I still need to finish it.

Not -strictly- Anime, but lately I've found myself reading "Power!" into the wee late hours of the night. It's... genderbend/comedy/romance, and in plot probably quite mediocre: girl attends new high school, dad decides she should pose as a boy and join the basketball team, 'coz he couldn't win at it and she should realize his dreams.

NAturally she ends up sharing a dorm with a boy she likes, and naturally that boy finds out and drama ensues.

But you know what? It's too damn hilarious and nostalgic not to like it. God-tier.

Hm.  I vaguely recollect recommending it before, but it's worth saying again: Mint na Bokura.  You want gender-bending comedy, basketball, and hilarity ensuing?  You got it.

Big O - Oh yeah so I finished Season 1.  I have come to the conclusion that it isn't Batman with Giant Robots.  It is Batman with Pet Godzilla.  I watched the Gamera MST3K episodes recently and the similarities between the fights and that genre's style is impeccable  Edit - This only makes the series better.

I would care a bit more about that if I didn't know the series was planned to have a third season and was canned after S2 anyway, so may as well only be cock blocked once.

Actually I didn't know I could quite enjoy such themes. It's a peculiar brand of humour that appeals to me, apparently. I've already got it down on my "To Watch/Read" list, though.

Once I finish Power! to read, and Gundam X to watch. :V

Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to consider watching Dibuster until the next bandwidth cycle.

Appleseed (OVA):
Pretty nice. I'm kind of drawing a blank as to anything specific to say about it though.

Appleseed Ex Machina:
Very pretty. I think all up it's better than Vexille, although Vexille had a more interesting storyline in some respects.
Hitomi is very reminiscent of some character in something else but I can't think of who and it is bugging me...
This really needs to be SRWed at some point (unlike the OVA which has barely any robots/robot equivalents).

Meanwhile the Appleseed movie isn't being distributed any more (unless it was distributed by a different company than does those two in the first place) so I am going to have to spend time looking for it. Tsk.

Gundam SEED:
Decent. Quality varies quite a bit per episode but on the whole it's fairly good. Don't see the antihype that I have seen at some places.
I am unsure as to why they start taunting you with Cruise's mask coming off out of your view and then they never show you anyway, presuming I didn't blink and miss something. Also Dearka's disposition changes completely for no apparent reason.
Hm, the newtype-esque-ishness of Mu and Rau was completely unnecessary and should have been punted. Then they'd just need to get rid of Flay's godawful and also completely unnecessary final scene amongst the colours and we'd have complete real-ness going on here, assuming you don't take issue with the whole SEED thing that's never actually explained either (for that matter, early on the SEED stuff only tends to happen when they've gotten all stressed, but later on it seems that it happens whenever, which is also a mite annoying).

I am sad that SRWJ made Mu and Azrael look more awesome than they do in show, especially Azrael. My expectations for him were almost 180 degrees from the truth. Arguably this is a good thing I suppose as it means less given up by the game before I've seen the show, except for the fact that actual!Azrael is horrifically lame.

Augh why is SEED Destiny $150 plus another $25 for the final episode who the heck sets the pricing for this stuff

Warning: Gundam SEED Destiny takes everything bad about SEED and amplifies it with little to no of the good.

3 cases of Catastrophic Mobile Suit Explosions end in little to no damage to the pilots, as a sample.

Gundam SEED is just sorta shallow. SEED Destiny is the real trainwreck.

I already linked this in IotD, but lest there be any doubt, here's the description:

Akikan (”Empty Can”) is the unlikely story of high school boy Kakeru Daichi, whose can of melon juice soda magically transforms into a human girl. Naturally, more “akikan” girls begin appearing, each of them needing to be infused with carbon dioxide from kissing to survive.

No, trainwreck would be Sunrise's new series Sora Kake Girl, of course.

It's first episode manages to be sloppier and less coherant than Code Gaess', and it's second episode just forges ahead with that formula where Gaess at least slowed down.

If you're taking SoraKake Girl seriously and haven't realized that it's self-parody yet, then... well...

I'm sorry, I can't write Sora Kake Girl off as self-parody. Good self-parody is Busou Renkin. Sora Kake Girl is just shitty writing so far.

Busou Renkin was obviously very, very serious. :colbert:

Anyway, fair enough.

Ep3 introduces girls voiced by Nina and Arika from Mai Otome. The girl who voices Arika references her grandmother in the ep 4 preview too.

I do have to hand it to Sunrise. They're giving the audience what they want. The Japanese demand shitty shows, and by god are they getting them!

Sora Kake Girl description:

The story is set in the year 311 of the Orbital Calendar, when humanity has migrated to countless colony clusters in space. A space colony girl named Akiha Shishidō encounters a malevolent artificial intelligence named Leopard that has been installed on a colony. Akiha is joined by an Inter-Colony Police officer named Itsuki Kannagi, a taciturn young girl named Honoka Kawai, and a robot named Imoko "Imo-chan" Shishidou.
