There...there's something to love?  Isn't it just plotless lolibots flying around in their undies?  Is there something I'm missing here?
...

Anyways, still just watching the good ol' Adult Swim to keep up with Geass... and uh... um. Nina. Yeah... Mooooving on...

Geass does have a strange appeal for me. I mean, it's like trying to squeeze the plot of a longer Gundam series into half the episode count, only more so, and it's pretty entertaining to see how they're going to do it. Granted, I haven't seen as much as everyone else, so I'll just always be a ways behind the rest of you. Plus, the mech action is routinely decent, with a few good scenes so far, and the Guren Mk. II gives Geass its first really interesting mech design. Now I'm waiting for an SRW game with Code Geass in it... that also has G Gundam in it... and I think you can see where that's going (if you know anything about G Gundam).

Also noticed that Suzaku's purpose, so far, seems to specifically be "see how badly I can screw up Lelouch's plans by showing up at the last second when he least expects it and be way better at giant robots than everyone else". And he doesn't even have psychic powers to make it make some sort of sense like Amuro...

"Turning into bats? Laughable!" says sparkly telepathic Volvo-driving vampire who spent century in high school.

Oh, I finished Baccano a few weeks ago. It was alright. A lot of style, a little substance. Fun, but not as good as the first episode made it seem like it would be.

Re-watching Monster, now. Wins.

Paedophilia.

Serial Experiments Lain - Started watching this again the night before my flight.  Almost up to where my supply dried out last time and it is still pure awesome.  I love it touching so many of the same themes as Ghost in the Shell but doing it in a far more direct and disturbing fashion.
NO MORE POKEMON - Meeplelard.

Remember when Bardiche had the Canon avatar and Dhyer called Canon a tranny? Well... The R2 novels talk about how Canon has a crossdressing hobby.

God damn it Code Geass.

Blade of the Immortal.

:)

Anyway, first ep was ok.  kinda incoherent.  Won't really be able to tell how good the show is until we get to some meatier storylines (first big/good one is Dreamsong, with Makie, I believe).
Rocky: you do know what an A-bomb is, right?
Bullwinkle: A-bomb is what some people call our show!
Rocky: I don't think that's very funny...
Bullwinkle: Neither do they, apparently!

It's not like crossdressing is particularly rare in Code Geass, what with the entire Ashford Academy student council doing it in that one dvd special.

Though this makes it sound like a popular Britannian pastime in general.

Welllllll ~ The novel also goes on to talk about how Canon wouldn't have gotten anywhere working in Britannia being an okama if he had been working for anyone other than Schneizel, so this is just another "Make Schneizel look like a nice person" ploy and Britannia isn't really cool about crossdressing. Dumb kids away from home versus the Prime Minister's right hand guy? Huuur.

In R2 25, all of Schneizel's merry freakshow underlings will fuck him over, likely~

As Gref mentioned very correctly. Them damn pedos.

And those aren't robots, by the way. Actual people, those jet engines are just things they wear. And it isn't totally devoid of plot!! It's ABOUT ALIEN INVASION!!!!oneone11

Okay, that was bad. I'm sorry.

Rammstein - Asche Zu Asche.

I want to listen to Ashes to Ashes by Bowie sung in German covered by an industrial rock band.

Edit - Leaving this here cause it is better than talking about lolibot show.

uh yeah, so watching Lovely Complex, which is about an unusually tall schoolgirl, an unusually short schoolboy, and their totally age-appropriate, not in the least bit creepy or unnaturally sexualized, romantic comedy hijinks.

Good times.

Sounds like a total Jim show.

Lessee general update time:

Nabari no Ou- Up to the end of 14. ARGH. Thobari, if you end up being the death of my favorite character, I'm gonna start writing fanfiction where you die on every page. (Much like the little seen Radioactive Man comic)

Allison to Lillia- Up to the end of 13. Great stuff, still my favorite show currently. Wil is awesome and made the right choice. I'm betting his tank sniping skills came in handy. Moving onto Allison's daughter Lillia in the story now.

Soul Eater- Up to the end of 14. Getting better in incriments. By the end, it should be a good show! >.> Still runs into problems with bad physical comedy, but it's been better about it.

Birdy the Mighty Decode- Up to the end of 2. AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME. Totally good revival of a classic. Everyone needs to watch this.

Daughter of 20 Faces- Up to the end of 11. Sort of petered out, sadly. Still room for awesome. The maid still rocks, but I'm waiting for the rich girl to actually DO something other than be useless. I respect Aya Hirano a bit more due to her voice in this series. However, I honestly do wonder why no one seems to take notice that everyone calls her the Daughter of 20 Faces. Doesn't seem to strike anyone as strange...

Maison Ikkoku- Up to the last boxset. Argh. Why must the last box be impossible to find? I love this show, definately one of my favorite romcoms. Rumiko Takahashi's least sucky romance story! Not that that says much, but it's very good. Yotsuya and Mrs. Ichinose in particular is are awesome, awesome comic relief characters on the level of Miria and Isaac. And Sakamoto is the WORST. FRIEND. EVER.

EDIT:
Forgot something.

Slayers Revolution- More of the same good stuff. Wiser needs to die and never come back though. Really, really bad series situational character. I'd give anything for Sylphiel, Philia or even Martina or Naga.

He won't, but you should still write fanfic about him dying on every pages. Hypocrite of his degree deserves no mercy.

? I think you'll get what you want very soon though. With they suddenly turn V.V. UNIMPORTANT and Sharyl all of sudden NOT EVIL and all, Schnizer is now the best candidate to be the creepy last boss.

Niu: I am quite satisfied with his 5sec of pure fabulous from R2 15. :3 That 3rd frame is currently my desktop. :shlick:

Anxiously awaiting some "Yandere for Canon-kun~" mode.

Also, Charles seems quite ebil. He and Schneizel will insert their penises into the world and fuck it hard then Lelouch will come clean up afterwards. I'm sure.

Finished watching Grendizer. Decent enough. The falling out between Zurill and Gandall near the end was annoying considering they'd tolerated each other at worst before then.
Nice to see the whole Lady Gandall betrayal bit in the show. First Half Lady Gandall is still considerably superior to Second Half Lady though, who mostly seemed to come about just so they could have a Baron Ashura thing going on which they didn't end up doing until the last episode anyway.

As long as they weren't going to bother keeping any of the main pairings together anyway, they might as well have not bothered having Rubyna killed off ._.

I need some sort of Zurill avatar now to commemorate but I can't be bothered looking for a good shot at the moment.

Logically Mazinkaiser'll be next but I haven't started getting it yet.

Porco Rosso: Considering the subject matter, the film was somewhat of a dissapointment. I was expecting crazy plane shenanigans and didn't really get any. From memory, this is the second time I've been expecting shenanigans from Ghibli and been let down so maybe I should dial my shenanigan-expectations lower ._.

Ocean Waves: Debatably better than Porco Rosso in general, but I don't understand the ending at all. The most egregious part is how everyone has returned to the city I forget the name of for a class reunion... meanwhile, the girl goes to Tokyo to look for the guy who moved _despite the fact he had just gone back to the city for the reunion that she was also supposed to be going to_. This is to say nothing of the fact that she does nothing but be a tool the whole movie and he comes off as being highly aggravated, yet he's supposed to like her apparently according to his friend. Blarg.

Not strictly anime, but close enough...

Robot Carnival: Got the homebrewed English-subbed remaster courtesy of Sopko at the con, watched it today. Good but not quite great, is my initial reaction. I feel the need to react piece-by-piece, since each one was so different.

Intro: Funny stuff. not a whole lot to it, obviously.

Franken's Gears: Very well-realized piece. Don't have a lot to say about it, but I liked it.

Deprive: Totally random action scenes. I guess I'm missing something by not knowing 8-Man?

Presence: My favorite story of the lot, even if it was overlong. The overall theme and tone felt like somebody had taken J.F. Sebastian from Blade Runner and given him his own movie.

Starlight Angel: Started out really good, got waaaaaaaay weirder than it needed to be in the second half. Kitazume has a surprising gift for reaction shots, and the Char cameo was hilarious.

Cloud: ...huh?

Foreigner Invasion: Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. If a Japanese person decided to remake The Wild Wild West, this is what they would make. And it would be awesome.

Nightmare: Very cool, with great use of music. Need to rewatch it, though, as it took me most of the viewing to realize the giant robot wasn't actually evil.

Ending and epilogue: Otomo is insane. In a good way.

The video and sound quality were awesome, and I'll tell Justin as much in person if I see him at Otakon. Great disc.

Persona Trinity Soul - anyone else watching this, or are you to busy frittering away your time with The Trainwreck?

Anyway, finally finished this.  good stuff, with most of the traditional action anime with teens with superpowers caveats.  Reminded me a lot of Witch Hunter Robin in style, which is definitely a good thing.  Plot was coherent, but fuzzy, if that makes any sense (i.e. it followed its internal logic fine, but wasn't fantastic at explaining the logic behind the logic).  Still, the good far outweighed the bad, show was stylish but kept the physics of things refreshingly realistic.
