Innocent Venus: Generic dystopian future nonsense. I am not sure why I watched it. It's not horrible...it just totally fails at being unique or memorable in any way that matters. Now, I approve of utilitarian, no-frills mech design, and the Big Sekrit behind said mechs is suitably warped, but that's about where my compliments end. Oh, it has an Homard clone, too. I guess that's something. No cats, though.
Rozen Maiden: Show of killer loligoth dolls is also a mediocrity. Nothing really outstanding about it and the lead whines as much as Shinji Ikari without actually having much reason to do so. I was glad when this one ended.
Scrapped Princess: Watched the first eight episodes or so. Generic fluff, but entertaining enough on that level. Cast is hit or miss--I wanted to punch Leo after about five seconds, Silencer is cool and I hope he shows up again (killer bard. Yes), Chris...well, failing to kill the hero when he could easily have done so in like the first episode is always a bad sign for an adversary. Also an angstwhore (c'mon, he didn't even know Winia; why would he unload his Troubled Past story on her? Stupid lazy writers and their expository dialogue). He has got a little better, though. So yeah, show is nothing special, but basically inoffensive. Of course, by all accounts, it turns to total drivel for the finale. But eh, I have to finish watching any series I start, and the ride there looks diverting enough for now.
Key the Metal Idol: Now, this one I like. Watched the first seven episodes, looking forward to the rest. We know the Cid is fond of AI characters, yes? AI character with an entire show devoted to her development? Even better. It also helps that I like Sakura, and the interaction between the two of them is made of win. I can't help but like the pop songs too. The end theme has that quaint, 80's soft rock feel that spilled over into the 90's in Japan because the Japanese just decided the whole grunge thing wasn't happening there for some reason. Must hunt down music on GH later. Also, while the "badass" archetype is never my kind of character, it has to be said that episodes 6/7 = D is one hardcore motherfucker. And Ajo is batshit in ways that scare even me.
