* Fate Zero: how many episodes do they plan to make?  The correct answer is hopefully "13 or fewer."

It's going to be broken into 2 seasons, 13 episodes a piece, episode 1-13 from October to December, and 14-26 From April to June which is like "..."

Seems like they are milking it for the blu-ray sales since they are adding new scenes to the blu-rays that they cut from the broadcast versions and releasing them in between the two seasons...

Wow. The new Last Exile is REALLY GOOD. Also REALLY CONFUSING on one point. Dio is in it, and he mentions Sophia. Is this a sequel and they managed to keep it a secret?

It also looks unbelievably gorgeous.

EDIT: Watching the OP again, it seems a bunch of other characters from the first will be in it too

Tatiana and Alistia are also confirmed. And then looking at the geography, this is really looks like a sequel.

That episode depressed me, but I've ranted about it enough. Ugh.

On the other hand, Guilty Crown made me smile. If nothing else, a very pretty show.

In what way? In that they waste an episode on commu, or that they rushed the commu plot?

Guilty Crown, I actually start caring this show thanks to Lying World being remotely interesting.

Darker than Black - Watched three episodes so far.  I guess I like it?  I am just not really feeling it heaps.  It is good and all, just the pacing is bugging me a little.  Then suddenly Yoko Kanno and everything is good in the world.

Clearly I just need to buy Yoko Kanno CDs instead of watching shows.

I watched a reasonable amount of shows while my PC was in pieces. I have since forgotten most of anything I wanted to say about the earlier ones.

Those Obnoxious Aliens - Episodes 116 - 135 (pre-move but unreported before taking PC apart)

Seem to remember there being a fair amount of good episodes in this bunch, but the only one I remember anything of offhand is the cow episode seeing as I'm currently avataring from it. Good episode for Lum x Ataru fans. As the end of the episode approached I was dreading that there was no way they could wrap the situation up non-annoyingly, and they ended up non-ending it making that bizarrely the best of all possible options. Still annoying though.

Checking over other episode titles... Gloves Vs Pants was a great episode. Not really a fan of the fox who's shown up a couple times. Not a fan of the armoured lady either. Ryoko got dumbed down somewhat for some reason, sadly. Kuriko and Chojuro is essentially an improved version of the earlier lipstick episode. Superhero episode is somewhat fun but the twist was fairly obvious. No other comments are coming to mind.

The current OP/ED have Ataru being far too well-disposed towards Lum and it is somewhat annoying.

Kiddy Grade - Watched through

Entertaining. Didn't expect the change from Of The Week style.

Spice & Wolf S2 - Watched through

Believe I thought the first season was superior. Among other things, Holo not as alien as previously. OP/ED also inferior to S1's.

Birdy Decode S1 - Watched through

Amusing. Wasn't expecting things to end up the way they ended up. To be specific, I was expecting that Birdy would take the mind of the woman I forget the name of on as a lodger and then they could kill the thing I also forget the name of without killing her. M. Night was fairly styling until he got disturbing.

MS Gundam 08th MS Team - Rewatched through (now with legitimate copy)

No change from last time. Shiro is disappointingly nonpragmatic. Also noticed this time that for all he tells people not to go off on their own he does it himself a lot.

MS Gundam 08th MS Team Millers Report - Watched

Waste. Of. Time.

Lunar Legend Tsukihime - Watched through

Decent. I don't believe they ever explained Shiki's initial actions with regards to Arcueid. Not exactly the only thing which wasn't explained, but the one which stands out the most.

Tears To Tiara - Watched through

Entertaining. Voicework was a very welcome change from the usual.

Strange that the senate thinks that Gaius is just incompetent despite the elite troops which I forget the name of having been wiped out.

Slayers Next - Watched through

Entertaining. Xelloss started off as highly annoying but transitioned into fairly amusing at a reasonably rapid pace. Gov meanwhile spent most of the series looking like some sort of 'cool' character in the OP and ended up being nothing of the sort when he finally showed up. Funny how these things turn out.

MS Zeta Gundam - Rewatched through (now with legitimate copy)

Doubt I have anything to say about it that I didn't say whenever it was I watched it previously. Katz still sucks.

Love Hina - Watched through

Show apparently has the belief that unwarranted violence towards Keitaro will never get old. Have to agree with the people that prefer warranted violence.

Broken Glasses episode bugs me because Naru doesn't normally wear glasses anyway.

Code Geass S1 (R1?) - Watched through

Entertaining. I thought that this was supposed to be trollshow? Or is this another SEED vs DESTINY situation (or have I gotten mixed up completely). Interested to see where R2 (RR?) goes with things, although I am concerned that perma-geass is going to hinder the possibilities.

Cowboy Bebop - Watched through

Entertaining. A bit slimmer on backstory for some characters than I would prefer. Ed tried to pull a Xelloss and only partially succeeded.

Not bad. Birdy the Mighty is awesome. Check out season 2, it's even better than the first. Catch the connecting OVA too. ::Crosses fingers for a season 3::

Code Gaess is more the fact it's a mildly entertaining popcorn series that far too many people try to take seriously/think is the best ever. The first season is relatively fine excepting the horribly constructed first episode and the twist with Euphie. S2 is where you get the real trolling.

Yes, Code Geass is kind of a SEED/DESTINY situation, where the first season is a fun little thing that has only a little headbanging while the second makes you want to pretend to be a rockstar in front of a CMU wall.

- Guilty Crown. Speaking of moderately entertaining shows that play all the tropes, Guilty Crown plays straight into Code Geass' niche. The show is silly in plot and the main is frustrating to watch, but it is pretty, has nice music, and the action scenes range from 'nice' to 'Wow that's pretty awesome". But dear god does the show play to all the 'standard tropes'. It uses the generic plot like a crutch instead of developing characters and is weaker for it.

- Fate/Zero. The show is very different from FSN, and it is better for it. The fact that it follows all the different characters and leaves only their motivations as a mystery makes it entertaining to watch and eschews more standard MYSTERY plot in favor of character building. The only caveat is that it is SLOW character building, since it zips around from perspective to perspective so much. Emiya gets the most screentime, but he is kept enigmatic by displaying his conflicting actions without revealing the real nature that drives those conflicting actions. Also I am totally messing with you since the REAL reason to watch this show is because the action is tons and tons of fun while Iskander deserves to be made king of the world just on account of raw awesome.

- Ben-To. Dear god this show is FUN. It plays its tropes, serves its fanservice, and has a plot that centers around very possibly the stupidest thing you could think of. But who the fuck cares when you spend most of the show either a)laughing or b) cheering. The show centers around high schoolers fighting it out for the honor of grabbing half-off boxed lunches. The show makes no apologies for the silly plot and just runs with it by infusing every interaction and plot point with as much raw energy as possible. Typical anime humor such as accidental pervert scenes normally make my eyes roll in disgust (hi Guilty Crown), but Ben-To manages to pull it off via a cast of surprisingly likable characters and being absolutely over-the-top. The VA's energy really makes the difference, here. Also the fights, while not brilliantly animated, are a joy to watch just for how vicious and crazy awesome they are. But yeah if you like fun there isn't a reason not to watch this show.

Watching Fate/Zero.

Iskander is simply the best there is. That is all.

But that's saying a lot, because despite the lack of Rin - one adorable little Rin appearance notwithstanding - this cast is leaps and bounds ahead of F/SN's, which I already liked a great deal. The action is crisp and well done, the characters are cool, and the interweaving schemes make the fifth Grail War look like amateur hour. No, you could even say this is on a completely different level from other Fate material.

Darker Than Black - Further in.  I am liking it more now.  A bit more in the feel for the mysteries being presented and so on.  A little bummed to find out there is another season coming, that means what I have isn't a complete story.  I am spoilt there.

I still can't really follow what is going on because when Yoko Kanno starts playing I don't exactly pay much attention to the show.  Again, I should just be buying Yoko Kanno albums instead of watching shows.

They recast Goemon, Fujiko and Zenigata in the latest Lupin special. Sad as it is, that was long overdue.

Those Obnoxious Aliens - Episodes 136 - 145

Contained the play/enforced acting episode which was pretty awesome. The gardening club episode was a close second. Other episodes were decent to middling, although there were a fair amount of amusing bits like the Cherry dwarves in the dreams episode. I don't even remember a Kaede with regards to her return episode, though that's probably not too surprising.

Kind of running myself out of room to intersperse the remaining movies throughout if I don't hop to watching some of them.

Gundam Unicorn - Episode 2

Don't remember enough about it to say anything really. I know it was starting to somewhat remind me of F91.

Birdy The Mighty Decode S2 - Watched through (including The Cipher at the end)

I want to say that the first season was more entertaining. Not sure which was better in general. This season does do more in terms of backstory, provided you're one of a few particular characters - we find out almost nothing about most of the escapees, in current terms even, let alone historic ones.

Code Geass R2 - Watched through

Okay but disappointing.

Not a fan of Sayoko. Not a fan of permageass having essentially no relevance this season. Not a fan of Nunnally and Sayoko turning out to not have died.

There were still a number of good times, such as the million Zeros.

Mind was insisting that the later stages of R2 are parallel to something but the best I could come up with was God-Emperor Of Dune, which I'm pretty sure is not right answer as that's only vaguely similar to particular points and didn't get rid of the feeling. It is insignificantly aggravating.

Oh right I also watched Working Man.

I guess it was okayish.

I don't think there was enough focus on Shinji between his episode and the end of the series, leads to things seeming to come out of nowhere a bit. Still, I guess that was the case for the characters as well, so there's an argument for it.

There wasn't enough of the head editor.

So exactly how improved is the picture here? Nice enough to be worth shelling out for even if you spent too much money tracking down copies of the original run shortly before the remaster was announced? (Totally not bitter about that at all.) I notice Right Stuf has the first two sets at half price right now, but still, that's over a hundred dollars total for a show I already have. I wouldn't even consider it if it weren't, you know, Utena.

It's worth it for at least the first set. We had notably poor masters to work from for that one, and it didn't help we compressed everything onto two discs. The video and encode quality improved with the Black Rose and Apocalypse boxes, as well as the movie, so you don't really have to worry about them if you're hesistant, but the remaster DOES look great.

If you have some patience and aren't interested in rebuying the same show over and over and over, consider waiting for the inevitable Blu-Ray release. The Utena rerelease was advertised in Japan as HD remasters, even though it was only released as DVDs - it's only a matter of time before they decide to go back to the well with a newer and even shinier release.

Nozomi/Right Stuf haven't been releasing any Blu-Rays to date to my knowledge, but that reticence won't last forever as BD adoption increases steadily. I'd guess that they'll end up releasing a Blu-Ray boxset sometime between 5 and 10 years from now.

That said, the DVD sets are still fantastic for anyone like me who didn't own the show beforehand. The boxart used is all fantastic, and the extras are great like Shale mentioned. I think they still have the preorder ring... I waited about nine days to order and still got one, even though I have no interest in one. Oh well.

I'm slow.

Watched Soul Eater. Really solid show. Concept was fun, characters were well used and were focused on in good proportions. Liked the main villains and the three-front conflict in the second half. Animation and music was really impressive overall.

Only real issues I had were the pacing and Excalibur. I found him kinda funny, but it got old soooo quickly. Wanna see where the manga goes.

Tiger and Bunny. Best superhero show. Ever. Also Tiger/Barnaby slash is hot.

TOA3: Remember My Love - watched

Decent. Had a good red string joke.

Paranoia Agent - watched through

Entertaining. Very styling at times.

I've since seen people say that those people in that episode were successful at their objective, but I didn't notice anything to indicate that at the time - I can see that being the case for the happenings at the end of the episode, if you prescribe magical powers to cameras for some/cultural? reasons, but it doesn't seem to mesh with what was happening beforehand. I can only assume that I'm forgetting a part, or I'm misremembering said events, or it happened offscreen... I would need to rewatch the episode, really. But I can't be bothered doing that.

Outlaw Star - watched through

Decent, but contained more lewdity than necessary/than I was expecting.

Vaguely disappointed that there didn't turn out to be any story behind certain specific past actions of the MacDougal Bros.

Gundam X - watched episodes 1 through 14

Garrod started off a moron and Tifa started off annoying, but they've managed to improve a bit. Will this continue I wonder.

The harmonicannon hasn't been used anywhere near enough yet.

I wasn't expecting the Frost Bros. to be gypsies.

TOA - watched episodes 146 through 152

The new OP/ED are unpleasing to mine eyes again. Sadness.

They've been threatening to make Asuka a more regular character. Sadness.
