So it has come time of the year that I can book flights for decent rates and... still nothing worked out for Con yet. Something has come up so I will want to be in North America come August, but just trying to plan out what I do with my time.
Was there anything that eventuated? I know a couple of ideas floated and last year Boston sounded pretty rad and all, but.... questionmark? Figured we are overdue a discussion topic anyway.

Sadly there is a very high chance we won't be able to come this year with all the stuff we have going on over summer.

Pffffft, I'm sure there's nothing major going on in your life this summer, definitely nothing that would require non-DLCon travel plans.

I can't make promises until I know more -- and probably until a bit more time has passed -- but I would love to find a way for Andrew and I to make DLCon this year. Baby may or may not come with us, location and timing pending and all that.

If there is one, I would try my best to come, but it really depends on school load/which classes I'm taking next term.

As usually, I will be able to attend unless there are unexpected accidents. (which is what stopped me from coming last year).
So yeah, looking forward to what we have for this year.

i can't be in germany for 180 days bc schengen rules so if con is driveable from ga I can make it. if it is a west coast con i wish yall all the best, those seem the bomb

I can't host this year, but I'm up to travelling p.much anywhere, even international.

Work stuff is hard to predict, but I may be able to make a US-based one as long as it's not in August.

As I said, if it's in Boston, I will seriously consider driving up there. If not, I'll be bussing because I have other arrangements for flying likely happening in the year.
If it's in Boston and I do drive, I will be totally up for actually carpooling up there with anybody in the area, be it them flying in, or something I grab along the way. In fact, I ENCOURAGE you to ask me if that's the case!
...all of this is a huge "if" of course.

Originally, my plan was to take a week off from work and go wherever it was going to be. Due to my job swapping I did, I would need to know the date and place before I make plans. I really wanted to meet everyone and punch Meeple like I said I would in real life so right now it's up in the air.

There had better damn well be one this year - I'm finally able to make it after wedding, car death, buying a house, and all the other crazy stuff impeded it that past several years.
Unfortunately, I'm not able to host for a bit, but if it's northeast, I can help to the best of my abilities. I can probably make it anywhere, honestly.

Apologies for being silent on this. I've been working on moving to an apartment in the greater Boston area, and wasn't really sure if when I moved I'd be able to make something happen. Anyway, not entirely done with that process, but I think I'm close enough now.
So what's everyone's availability? We will definitely need to rent a small house or the like, but there's availability in the area I'm (probably, argh) moving to.
I cannot do Aug 6-13 or June 15-16. Other than that, my schedule is open.

Only able to before Aug 1, then I'm out of the country for a while. If there's ever a before-August con, I can pitch in for anything. I feel like Airbnb options in Mass are pretty great, but that's jumping ahead of the gun.

I have obligations late August/early September, but anything in June/July I can make. Boston con should be fine for me since I have family in Connecticut I can visit either before or after.

I strongly suspect that the airbnb market for house rentals dries up by September 1 when the kids come to college. So I don't think we should be looking any later than August.

I am on continent in August from 2nd to 22nd but am booked up for a chunk of that last week.

So, I recently came into some employment that gives me great flexibility. I may well be doing a road trip that takes me up DLC way. Assuming I'm not having one of my mental breakdowns or w/e. Count me as a cautious in. I'll know more once I start getting paychecks.

So what's the plan? It's mid-April already and that means August is only 3.5 months away. (Stupid calendars.)

Righto, dates are the most important thing to get squared away, so last call for anyone with time restrictions.

There's never going to be a great time for me, but the last week of August/early September is most likely when I'll be moving so we'd probably not make a con at that time. But that's kinda late for DLC anyhow.

I'm just going to say July seems optimal for me now. August is do-able depending on a number of factors (many of which I don't know now) but given the high probability of me driving down there, I at least have flexibility in terms of not worrying about getting plane tickets or something.

I THINK I can do July, I need to figure out how to mangle my work schedule so I can at least go a few days (I'm trying to go down to 3 days a work week so I can even attempt to do volunteer work at the library). The when will be the question.
