See title, since it's winding down now.  For stuff like bowling scores, music quiz scores, and insulting superaielman.

Streaming didn't work, and I was sad.

That's my entire contribution :(

Hope it was fun, can't wait to read and see more!

Bowling scores:

Quote
SnowFire 89,91
CmdrKing 86,67
Talaysen 67,70
NotMiki 46,58 (as of frame 9)

(second game is as of frame 8 - multiply scores by 1.25 for a more accurate guess at the final score)
Carthrat 103, 90
Sierra 120, 67
Sopko 131,49
Andy 71,67

Meeple 92
Elf 90
Ciato 94
metroid composite 53
VSM 89
Magic Fanatic 63

Sopko won, as usual.

Music Quiz
Aziraphale will post the music quiz detailed results.  Short version is CK won and (EDIT) Meiousei & Aziraphale got 2nd and 3rd place.

If you'd like to download the music quiz yourself to take it, or out of nostalgia:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1amzB5XgB-F8fHO92SiK7bZqTmZ-JQjLJ?usp=sharing

Note that there were some extra at-con clues for 7, 18, 35, and 43 (e.g. playing other pieces of music related to the games / from the games) and people whiffed 11 completely (well, barring utterly massive clues).

Here's the resulting DL MadLibs story, as well as what people filled in at the bottom:

That was a hellish delay. Dear God. Back in Fairfax finally. I blame Philadelphia for catching fire.

I'm sorry, Andy-sempai. I wasn't strong enough!

Super and I's train got delayed six hours by an actual trashfire in Pennsylvania. I just got home and am running on almost no sleep for the last 24 hours. If I'd known there was no rush to catch the train, I woulda stuck around and finished Until Dawn.

But transportation problems to/from DLCon =/= DLCon, so apart from a killer headache that cored the first evening, I had a lot of fun. Socialization is pretty okay when I'm actually comfortable with who I am! I couldn't keep the voice I wanted up the whole time, but practice, practice. I'd say DLCon highlight was finally meeting Rat in person, except everyone knows the real DLCon highlight was me and Andy beating Golden Axes 1 through 6.

Tired, braindead, Hobocats are SO RONERY and demand affection, I must go now my home planet needs me

EDIT: omigod that moment of epiphany when you open the bathroom cabinet and realize the whole room was a converted group shower.

Sopko showed me pics of the bathrooms.   That was some truly precious well below code DIY.  You can SEE the moments of "I can do that cheaper on my own" and "well fuck" on every single wall.  It was amazing and resulted in a building that looks like an alien simulacrum of a living space.

Missed you guys but sounds like it was a good time in general.  Glad you seem to have enjoyed hanging out with all my good boys there Sierra.

Thursday- Get up, catch uber with Sierra to DC, take the train to DC. Train was a super pleasant experience on the way in. In spite of living pretty close to Sierra we haven't caught up in ages, so we did that on the train. Was a lot of fun to catch up and swap stories about what we had done in the past year. We navigate pretty easily to the place we're crashing at. We meet the crew there, hang out for a bit. WE head to lunch at an Indian place. It was very warm at the place so I spend a lot of time going out and talking to people. I spend time catching up with Soppy on this day and meeting Mei. The group there plays codewords; I later go out with Jim and Nick. I spend a lot of time on this day wandering outside with people. I nabbed one of the rooms with a window so it helped a lot with the heat.  I also catch up with VSM, who I hadn't seen in too long.

Friday- Get up before everyone else and get coffee in the morning with CK.  I say hi to Ciato and Elf this morning as well, as I was a total monster and got my usual 8 hours of sleep from 10 to 6 most of the con. I head off to Manhattan to see a friend and tour around there for a bit. I get back and most of the group had went out to the art museum and for the show. I politely decline the offer to tour the art museum. I spent the afternoon talking with Andy and Soppy. It was really good in particular to talk to Andy, as we got to catch up and I got to learn the sacred art of how to woo geisha. It was a smaller crowd which was what I was in the mood for.  Dinner was at a Venuzaluan place. I end up skipping this and get ice cream instead.

Saturday-  Smorgasborg day! I was in the mood for some greenery by this point so it was perfect. Got some duck fat fries and a duck bacon burger, enjoy lunch on the water. I skip bowling and just watch, which was fine. I end up catching dinner with Rat, Andy and Sierra. Was a ton of fun to talk to Rat (Which I never have done in spite of us knowing of each other for nearly two decades now) and to bullshit with the crew. We discuss work stuff and the sociology of the office environment, which was good times.  Broforce was also watched this day IIRC, which was as great as the name would lead you to believe.

Sunday- I get up, get ready, say goodbye to Soppy and Andy. I get Rat coffee in the morning because frankly he deserved it for sleeping on the couch all con. We clean up, head over to Snowfire's place. Sierra/Magic/Rat and I end up bullshiting for a long while about RPing. Sunday afternoon is the short group picture, that game Sierra played that was a mix of entertaining and disgusting (ew torture porn but I liked the branching story options) and some cards. I also finally get to spend some time with Elf and Ciato, which I hadn't done to that point.

At several points, I wander off on my own just for some quiet or to people watch. NYC is on a grid so it's super easy to find your way around, I had no problem navigating.

Sunday evening was dinner with Rat/Snowfire/VSM/Sierra and some choice words about Philadelphia. Our train was delayed 6+ hours due to a trash fire there; I had to call out of work because I didn't get home till 6:30am.

Highlights: Getting a ton of one on one time with people I hadn't spoken with in a while or much at all in person, the living space (It was hilarious and the location was great).

Lowlights: The heat, not getting a full group picture, traveling back on Sunday.

Con was good, had a good time. It was a pleasure to meet Magic and Mei for the first time and it was nice to chat with Rat. I enjoyed the play and the late night madness on Saturday night.

Alrighty then!

Travel (A)- Uneventful.  I end up taking myself to the airport, and leave stupid early so it's still pre-dawn and thus there's not silly things like traffic there.  Flight's fully on schedule and the public transit is uneventful.

Monday- It's raining!  So after drying off, I scan the Big List of Things To Do and decide on MoMA, because I can't imagine anyone else would care (that'll show me). MoMA would actually be pretty great if you managed to catch it on a really off day where you could take your time and appreciate not just the art itself, but the artistry behind the exhibits and how they're arranged, but it's certainly worth doing without that.
Snowfire picks out two "okay we are entirely too whipped to do regular stuff now" activities, based on criteria I'm not entirely sure of: watching Twelve Kingdoms (which we make a good effort on but don't quite get through the first arc between here and wednesday evening) and, since I mention I hadn't, playing Celeste (which I do polish off Wednesday).  Those'll get their own mentions elsewhere.
Lunch: sushi  Dinner: banh-mi

Tuesday- Realizing that the rest of the week will be some combination of rain and 90 degree heat, I figure the best thing's to hit up are any outdoor-ish activities, which turns into Brooklyn Botanical and Prospect Park.  Sadly the parts of the Botanical that sound coolest to me weren't open, but there's a lot to be said for the artifice of it.  It's also nice and quiet, which is a plus.  We managed to whiff where we wanted to go in Prospect Park as I recall, but eh, it works.
Breakfast: reunion  lunch: uh... hm.  Dunno! dinner: vegan wrap

Wednesday- we do the full lower manhattan tour, on the theory that Friday will be abbreviated for Mormon and I suspect Snowfire really wanted to do at least one.  We also hit up the American Indian museum, which is about the crowd density I wish any Museum visit could be, although there's definitely a lot of "look the Smithsonian made us do this one, just move past it to the cool stuff we wanted to do" exhibits.  Still pretty solid.  Did go over where the Staten Island ferries were, since then you get a decent view of the Statue of Liberty without actually having to spend time going out there.  Snowfire also insisted on what I have to assume is blackmail material, so dunno what's up there.  We made an effort to get in before it got too late because literal heat advisory of course, and also figured nobody arriving that evening would want to run around that much.  This seems accurate.
Breakfast: donut   lunch: noodles  dinner: hipster pizza

Thursday- So I had a hotel that Tal took a spare bed in, so we just killed time until everyone else got up and organized to move to the rental via semi-lengthy trips to breakfast.  Otherwise since half the thursday people got there fairly early and the other half quite late, the trips this day were more about slightly-longer trips for food.  Mostly today was a lot of letting the newcomers get used to all the weird in-jokes and nonsense I feel like?  It's fun.
Breakfast: reunion  lunch:  indian  dinner: um... stuuufff?

Friday- I was on something resembling my work sleep schedule most of the trip, so I was up way before everyone else except super, at which point we discovered the closest bagel shop.  Mostly though a lot of just kinda waiting for everyone to be awake enough for the second round of Manhattan nonsense, which was alright.  It got a bit late though so people ended up saying "yeah sure MoMA is close and also free let's do" after the shopping type stuff, which is fine aside from oops, it's free and human hell happens.  On the other hand I got to proselytize so that was cool.  At that point everyone is so winded it's like "hey, uh, we're gonna just head in the general direction of the theater and be there earlier, 'kay".  Mormon is good.  Would recommend.
Breakfast: bagel  lunch: chinese, family style

Saturday- time draws short.  Alas, alas.
Smorgasburg is the sorta thing I find hella fun just on principle despite the crowds but getting the most out of it would take weeks so... alas.  Bowling is bowling.  After that is probably the only time during the con I truly fell into passive mode I think, buuuuut it was a set of interactions I'd been hoping to catch, SO.
Breakfast: also bagel  lunch: jamaican and spicy chicken  dinner: korean

Sunday- I took somewhat too early of a flight really, buuut so goes.

Travel (B)- So for some reason the J train seemed to be down for half the stretch out to JFK.  It also wasn't running much, but that might be normal weekend behavior for it.  I just gave up and forked out the cab money, which is fine.  Otherwise wholly uneventful, nothing terrible traffic-wise on my return drive home.

Mm.  Gonna cut here then probably add other notes later.

I'm much more used to Super being perennially delayed by -metaphorical- trashfires, to be fair.

The funny thing is that this delay wasn't even that big a deal, I've had worse experiences driving from Virginia Beach to Northern Virginia.

Not too much to add. Con was fun. I was a bit leery about the house itself, I'm a bt too old for this "staying up til 4" but the lack of real walls made it very hard to get to sleep before then, but eventually I just embraced staying up late and it was fine. :)

Really enjoyed New York. Highlights in no particular order included the Met, the Museum of Modern Art, Statue of Liberty (mostly just for the awesome views of the bay tbh), Ellis Island (I liked this place in 2009, but in 2018 it is super-duper-topical and I wish I'd gone earlier than Monday so I could have beatn more people into going), Book of Mormon (Broadway~), and just generally wandering around and exploring. New York has a pretty admirable energy to it which I enjoy experiencing even if I'd never want to live there. (Also the rudeness, it is real.) Nice to see Brooklyn for the first time too, fascinating place.

Con itself, well, it was fun to hang out with everyone of course. Special shout-out to Magic and Mei being cool people and welcome additions to the group. Dropping in for some multiplayer Fire Emblem Warriors with Mei and then promptly scrambling to deal with two of the nastiest maps in the game was a great time. Otherwise, did more chatting and touristing than playing games, but those were fun too when they happened. Actually I think I did more watching than playing. TEKKEN BOWLING and the goofy Guilty Gear anime win the award for surreal gaming experiences of the Con, obviously 8-player Smash is wonderful fun as always.

Not going to go into much more detail than that. I had a great time and it was wonderful to see everyone.

Sunday afternoon is the short group picture, that game Sierra played that was a mix of entertaining and disgusting (ew torture porn but I liked the branching story options) and some cards.

I've since watched one of my favorite streamers play Until Dawn, and hilariously enough, that death is staged. Dude faked his own murder to fuck with everyone, and someone later outright says to him, "This torture porn of yours has gone too far!" There's plenty of opportunity for death later in the game, but the Saw approach is pretty thoroughly subverted. Short version, we were fundamentally right about our murderer guess but wayyyy off about how it would play out.
