Renault>Shiho (Andy tiebreak)
Randolph>Sancho
Whelk>Chidori
Paula>Frederick
Renault (FE7) vs Randolph (Lufia 3)
Whelk (FF6) vs Paula (EB)

Renault (FE7) vs Randolph (Lufia 3)- Renault's doubling. That combined with Randolph's amazing HP should make it a blowout.
-
Whelk (FF6) vs Paula (EB) - Can throw up a PSI Shield then hit the shell and kill Whelk with his own Megavolt. ...
-
Whelk (FF6) vs Paula (EB) - Whelk roughly 6HKOs Paula... but he's actually quite a bit faster and applies Slow first thing, which just puts her badly behind. Don't think Neph's strategy works terribly well - Megavolt breaks Paula's shield (EB's barrier spells get dispelled by lightning) instead of reflecting, so it's a waste of turns she can't really afford. Her best hope is 3HKOing him, but I don't think she quite manages.

I am more inclined to call that a property of PSI Lightning in Earthbound and less a weakness of the shields, but obviously YMMV on that.
-
Yeah, the only lightning damage that exists in EB is that spell. I'm more than happy to call that a property of the barrier, since there are many other buff/debuff effects in the game and PK Lightning doesn't undo any of them (it makes more sense to see this as a weakness of the barrier than having Lightning be an ultra-specific dispel). There's even a dispel effect that covers shields -and- debuffs coming from Jeff, but I don't think this has any bearing on the whole thing anyway.

Renault (FE7) vs Randolph (Lufia 3)
Whelk (FF6) vs Paula (EB) - I'm inclined to agree that Psi Thunder dispelling Psi Shield is a bonus feature on the Thunder (the silver lining to to its random targeting) and not an Achilles' heel on the Shield.
-
Renault (FE7) vs Randolph (Lufia 3) - Pretty sure Renault avoids giving Randolph enough IP to work with here.
Whelk (FF6) vs Paula (EB) - I think I'm inclined to agree with Snow here.
-
I'm also not even sure how much it -matters-, since I'd definitely scale the reflected damage against EB's damage average and halved 400 or so EB damage is below one-fourth average damage - i.e. sub-10HKO damage. As far as I care, Paula's better off spamming Freeze, since Fire Ome + reflected Gigavolt under these rules < simply spamming Freeze for total damage output -and- wastes valuable turns she can't really afford once Slow's in place (Paula risks getting 5-2'd after her first turn, and even if you take the damage reflection literally against FF6 damage averages, it's not even 2HKOing Whelk). The only way it'd deal considerable damage to him would be scaling the percentage damage dealt to Paula directly against Whelk and I can't begin to count the lols on arguing that.
