Title: Football 2013: The Eagles have turned trolling to performance art.
Post by: superaielman on February 12, 2013, 12:59:34 PM
Look no further than Michael Vick, who was given a new contract for the 2013 season.  ANOTHER SEASON OF THE DREAM TEAM

Green Bay had a successful season that ended in an embarrassing playoff loss to the 49ers. Free Agency starts next month. The Packers are going to lose Greg Jennings to FA. Donald Driver retired and Charles Woodson is very likely to be released, the team is losing some of it's longest tenured players. Team needs are  DT, DE, C, WR, and probably ILB. GB also needs to extend a few players (Rodgers, Matthews) so it promises to be an interesting offseason.

Pft, that's not even the best part. The 2013 coaching staff reunites the legendary head coach-defensive coordinator tandem of the 2012 Cleveland Browns! Super Bowl, here we come!

You say that every year and every year some mediocre team gets shat out. Even animals can learn if a pattern repeats itself enough.

Like anyone predicted the Ravens to win the Super Bowl!

BUT!

If Dave Wannsedt isn't enough reason to claim the Bucs as Super Bowl bound, then how about this!

Chiefs pursuing Alex Smith? What, they didn't learn from the last time they traded for a quarterback who clearly benefitted from coaching skillz rather than actual talent?

Even the Eagles couldn't stand to be around the Eagles last season.

Hey gang. The season is around the corner. I'm sure some of you are excited about yer teams potential!

~

Also, I'm going to be starting up a fantasy football league with a group of online buddies again. I am thinking an online auction draft this year for something a little different.

If anyone is interested let me know. I have plenty of time and sports open.

Where are my Eagles fans at?

Looks like Jeremy Maclin has a torn ACL. Ouch.

Well, lets get our crummy playoff predictions in!

Wild Card
(5) Kansas City vs. (4) Indianapolis - KC beat Indy pretty handily in the regular season, and Indy is pretty inconsistent.
(6) San Diego vs. (3) Cincinnati - SD had trouble beating KC with 12 of their starters sitting. As long as Dalton doesn't throw 5 INTs they've got this.

(5) San Francisco vs. (4) Green Bay - NFC is much harder to call than AFC. This is a gut call more than anything else.
(6) New Orleans vs. (3) Philadelphia - Depends on the weather in Philly. Blizzard? Philly. High wind? Philly. Current forecast calls for a calm day with no rain or snow. Saints.

Divisional Round
(3) Cincinnati vs. (2) New England - Again depends on which Andy Dalton shows up, and if the relatively inexperienced New England receiver corps can step up for the playoffs. Leaning NE.
(5) Kansas City vs. (1) Denver - Call me crazy, but goddamn I think KC was close to having Denver figured out that second game. 2 INTs off Manning is a bad sign, and the offense has been playing much better.

(5) San Francisco vs. (2) Carolina - Rough game. Carolina seems to be the one to pull those out, and San Fran isn't as reliable in the clutch as they were last year.
(6) New Orleans vs. (1) Seattle - Unless the bye week really affects them, I don't see how this isn't a repeat of their regular season outing.

Championship Round
(5) Kansas City vs. (2) New England - Woof. I think nerves might finally get to NE. KC riding high off a big win over Manning the week before gives them the morale boost they need.

(2) Carolina vs. (1) Seattle - Amazing game, but homefield advantage proves too much for Carolina.

Super Bowl
(5) Kansas City vs. (1) Seattle - This could either be an amazing game or a rout. gg Seattle

KC>Indy
Chargers>Bengals. This is purely a guess, but I don't trust Dalton and the Chargers offense looks explosive.

49ers>Packers. I think the 49ers are the best team in the NFC. Would love to be wrong here.
Eagles>Saints. The Saints have some serious problems on defense and they just lost their rookie S who had played pretty well up to that point. Saints are also bad on the road.

Broncos>Chargers. This will be good.
Patriots>KC.

49ers>Seahawks. 49ers have Crabtree back and the Seahawks offense line is just wretched.
Eagles>Panthers. Don't trust Carolina's offense.

Broncos>Patriots
49ers>Eagles

Broncos>49ers

Wild Card
(5) Kansas City vs. (4) Indianapolis - Don't see how KC is that much better or Indy is that much worse from last week.
(6) San Diego vs. (3) Cincinnati - These might actually be the two most complete teams in the AFC.

(5) San Francisco vs. (4) Green Bay - Man does Rodgers coming back ever turn the complexion of the NFC on its ear.
(6) New Orleans vs. (3) Philadelphia - The Saints are going nowhere without their dome.

(3) Cincinnati vs. (2) New England - I honestly think it's a shame that the Bengals will end their quest in the Divisional Round.
(4) Indianapolis vs. (1) Denver - Holy hell is this going to be a laugher.

(3) Philadelphia vs. (2) Carolina - This is probably still not giving Carolina the respect they think they deserve. That Steve Smith injury is big, though.
(4) Green Bay vs. (1) Seattle - The game will go to overtime, with Aaron Rodgers proclaiming "WE WANT THE BALL AND WE'RE GONNA SCORE" when the Packers win the coin toss. Seahawks fans will proceed to go nuts at the obvious storybook ending of Richard Sherman avenging Matt Hasselbeck after so many years only to fall deathly silent when the first offensive play of OT sees Randall Cobb take a slant 80 yards to the house.

(2) New England vs. (1) Denver - With both defenses being decimated, I give Tom Brady in the playoff cold a slight edge over Peyton Manning in the playoff cold. Or maybe I'm just a gratuitous homer.

(4) Green Bay at (3) Philadelphia - Oh, but how fun this one will be. Rodgers/Lacy/Nelson/Cobb vs. Foles/McCoy/Jackson with THOSE defenses? We might see someone score 50 and lose.

New England vs. Green Bay - Scar cries tears of what I assume are joy as LeGarrette Blount and Aqib Talib lead their team to a Super Bowl victory.

The stuff re the positional coach may be true, but Kluwe ultimately got cut for being overpaid and not producing.  His letter (of the lustful cockmonster fame) was incredibly dumb and it's not surprising that Kluwe's other comments pissed the team off and helped them to move on.

Maybe next year the Eagles can work on ending plays with tackles instead of polite requests.

I guess I can't complain too much, the defense was garbage all around coming out of last season so having it only be mostly garbage in the new coach's first year is a surprising improvement. But still, Jesus Christ, would it be too much to ask for every single play not to involve somebody dragging half the front seven four or five extra yards?

(Also, holy SHIT the Colts/Chiefs game was awesome.)

Not a huge fan of the Lovie signing in Tampa. When will Tampa abandon these old school type coaches and try for someone who will use a pass first approach? Running games work if you have a multidimensional QB under Center.

Car
Wash (though not this year!)
Ind
San Fran
Sea
KC (to an extent)

With the exception of the Colts these teams have good running games, but it helps to have a QB that can scramble too. If Tampa wants to keep it on the ground, they are going to need a QB that can do more then just throw.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand the Witch is dead in Miami. Good times will be had for the Fins.

The Dolphins, to their credit, have better safeties than the Packers.  Then again, so do the Eagles.
