Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Enter Star Wolf VS. Wild ARMs - Courage - Hmm, neither's really spectacular.
Muramasa - Deep in Mountain and Valley B VS. Xenosaga III - hepatica (KOS-MOS) - Mrf. I like both, think I'm in more of an upbeat mood today so Deep in Mountain takes it.
Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song - Decisive Battle! Saruin - Final Battle with Saruin - VS. Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Shin Onigashima - Same style, better at it.
God Hand - Gene’s Rock-A-Bye VS. Ar tonelico 3 - EXEC_Z/. - Not really impressed with Gene's Rock-A-Bye honestly.

God Hand - Gene’s Rock-A-Bye VS. Ar Tonelico 3 - EXEC_Z/. - I like Rock-A-Bye's groove, but I think I like EXEC_Z's quirkiness more. Really weird track, but in a good way.

Senkou no Ronde - Last Stand - Karl Phase 0 VS. SaGa Frontier - Final Battle ~ T260G - Match of the pool right here. Both are great. I had to mull this one over for a while, but I think I'll stick with Karl Phase.

Lance, I don't think you have much in depth knowledge on Hymmnos, but how did you keep on saying the right thing about EXEC_Z/.

Muramasa - Deep in Mountain and Valley B VS. Xenosaga III - hepatica (KOS-MOS)- Right, the super boring song.  Do I remotely like Mountain and Valley... ... hm.  Well, I don't dislike it but... not feeling anything.

Well, I'm a big fan of hepatica at least, though the Murasama piece is worthy.

Vacant Interference is a bit one-note?  Jealousy feels like it builds and releases more tension and in general does some interesting stuff.

Definitely.  Nothing special about 3rd Eye.

Two really weird pieces.  As uniquely weird as Utena's music was, going with newer blood.

side note: am I the only one who, like, hates all of Muramasa's music?  I mean, I really dig the way it transitions from regular to combat and back, that's really cool (you would think people would have been doing this like crazy ever since Super Mario World), but in terms of content I just can't stand it.

Well, I'll agree Murasama's music is pretty uneven in terms of quality. Trying to squish rock and metal with traditional Japanese tune together, at times can have pretty horrifying effect. It either does not match, or end up creating this gap in the harmony of the composition.

I find you you saying "it worked because it did not follow the rules". And that is pretty much how EXEC_Z/. work.  It toss in bunch of stuff that usually it'll be blend or just bad, but ultimately comes out alright together.
