Sure, why the hell not.
Touhou Odyssey OST: Call Girl
Why did they name Yukari's song this? Regardless, nice piece.
-
It's like we all live in China 12 hours from now.
Echo & the Bunnymen - Seven Seas
-
Captain America Stage: Marvel Super Heroes.
-
Fucking hell, Windows 7 deleted all my music on my computer.
Thank god it's backed up >_>
Grefter, I can't get L4D2 to run on Windows 7 either - any thoughts on why my music disappeared, or why L4D2 will not run?
-
No idea, I backed up and did a fresh install and all my music is on its own hard drive, check if you still have a Documents and Settings folder in your root directory if you used . No idea on L4D2, should run no problems, best bet is to reinstall it all fresh and shiny and new.
Electric Six - You're Bored.
-
Elvis Costello & the Imposters - No Hiding Place
Momofuku is fucking glorious.
-
Florence + The Machine - Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up).
You aren't listening to this yet Snow. Fix it.
-
Third Eye Blind- The Backround
-
THANK YOU for typing "listening" correctly. Man, that was driving me nuts.
Miscellaneous Holiday Music - yes, still
-
Not a problem. I do what I can for people.
-
Oh Toro, you Xornful bastard. :(
Air Supply - Two Less Lonely People
/wrist/wrist
-
Joe Satriani - I Just Wanna Rock.
The title doesn't really show this, but this is a song about robots.
-
Blackmore's Night- Trapped Inside the Crystal Ball
-
:(
-
Flogging Molly - Another Bag of Bricks
-
Brunatex - This Day.
-
Rome - Swords to Rust, Hearts to Dust
-
Florence + The Machine - Dog Days are Over.
Why does no one else have this yet?
-
The Beatles - Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds (Across The Universe soundtrack)
Version sung by Bono. Not a big Bono fan, but I love this cover.
-
Shiny Toy Guns - Ghost Town
Just picked up thier Season of Poison album today. Pretty good overall.
-
The Beatles - Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds (Across The Universe soundtrack)
Version sung by Bono. Not a big Bono fan, but I love this cover.
Wow, that just made me die a little inside.
Zinc - The Morning After.
-
Brakes - Hold Me In The River
-
Florence + the Machine - Dog Days Are Over
Okay, let's see what's this all about.
EDIT:
Florence + the Machine - Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)
Bwahahahaha, okay, this song is freaking excellent. Very good album.
-
Gux- Mega man 3 Wily metal remix
-
Elvis Costello & the Imposters - American Gangster
Hell yeah, David Nieve organ.
EDIT:
Florence + the Machine - Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)
This is already my favorite track in the album. A fiddler in the band's primary lineup? Fucking in.
-
Florence + the Machine - Hurricane Drunk
Dammit Grefter this is fucking cool.
-
Why do you think I was kicking up such a stink? Best album of 2009. Also Rabbit Heart is indeed best on the album.
Brakes - On Your Side.
-
The Protomen: The Stand (Man or Machine)
-
The Raylenes - Synchronise.
-
So is that Florence + Machine stuff something you need to send me, Snow?
And for the time being:
Flogging Molly - The Kilburn High Road
-
So is that Florence + Machine stuff something you need to send me, Snow?
I think you'd totally dig it. It's like Cranberries meets harps meets actual lyrics meets batshit insanity meets 2009.
Eurythmics - Doubleplusgood
-
Mmm, sounds like something I should try out as well.
Our Lady Peace - Denied
I keep returning to this damn song, probably because I like the lyrics so damn much.
-
Elvis Costello & the Attractions - Accidents Will Happen
Your mouth is made up but your mind is undone.
-
Aphex Twin - Yellow Calx
-
Elvis Costello & the Attractions - Goon Squad
-
You guys suck. Seriously. Well except for Piggy because that is an awesome bit of Aphex Twin.
Zinc - The Trouble with You.
-
You guys suck.
What's wrong with late '70s Elvis Costello again.
Elvis Costello & the Attractions - Moods For Moderns
-
When I talk incessantly about a band for a couple of weeks and it takes you to go oh this is good to notice? Yeah, suck.
Floyd Thursby and the Definite Article - The Lover's Twist (For Claudia).
-
When I talk incessantly about a band for a couple of weeks and it takes you to go oh this is good to notice? Yeah, suck.
This just means you need to set people on fire more for them to listen. Or just for the sake of setting them on fire, really. At this point, I really tend to think I'm like the only person to actually have a non-0 odds RNG to check the stuff you pimp out in music on this topic. >_>
Elvis Costello & the Attractions - What's So Funny (About Peace, Love And Understanding)?
EDIT:
10,000 Maniacs - Arbor Day
-
I actually did listen to Rabbit Heart but I didn't bother to comment because I was unimpressed by it. More or less deserving of fire?
-
I actually did listen to Rabbit Heart but I didn't bother to comment because I was unimpressed by it. More or less deserving of fire?
I'd be surprised if it actually catered to your buds, honestly. >_> So not your style of music, and the album itself also could use cleaner production.
-
It really isn't Cidstyle, no.
The Protomen: The Sons of Fate
This is, though.
-
10,000 Maniacs - Among The Americans
Fun fact: this song (and Green Grow The Rushes, from R.E.M.) is the result of a bet between Natalie Merchant and Michael Stipe.
-
God, R.E.M. are so weird.
Atheist - Unquestionable Presence
-
It is the early '80s we're talking about.
10,000 Maniacs - Daktari
After that, My Mother The War, which may well be the best goddamned song in this album.
EDIT:
10,000 Maniacs - My Mother, The War
Mmmmmmmmhm.
-
Protomen: The Hounds.
I think I've got my opinion on this CD solidified. It is a great CD but the only track on it I'm not embarrassed to listen to over speakers is this song.
EDIT: Except maybe "The Father of Death." This song is also great.
-
Hallucinogen - Shamanix
Hehehee... hahahaaaa.
-
The overlap between things I would direct you towards and the things I would hype at Snow are different, but people that consistently like the same stuff Snow and I discuss with high frequency not checking it at all is just disheartening.
When I find some fairly classic 70's ish prog/arena rock that I don't think you will have heard of I will beat down your door Cid. You probably should have checked out Them Crooked Vultures, but they aren't really solidly in that group (but you know, Jimmy Paige and whatnot).
-
I don't tend to check music here immediately but that is because I rarely d/l music and tend to pick music up in chunks. I've got a decent list of stuff I'd like to get to, tho.
-
Eurythmics - English Summer
<3<3<3
-
That is a good song, yes.
Angels and Airwaves - Something something something uh no clue
Iunno.
-
Eurythmics - Take Me To Your Heart
-
The Fall of Troy - Nobody's Perfect
Their new album feels... different. Not good or bad different, but it's not what I expected.
-
Protomen: The Hounds.
I think I've got my opinion on this CD solidified. It is a great CD but the only track on it I'm not embarrassed to listen to over speakers is this song.
EDIT: Except maybe "The Father of Death." This song is also great.
The Protomen: Keep Quiet
The second half of the album seems devoted to sounding as much like 1983 as possible, yeah. Like the soundtrack to a Rocky sequel or something. This should be a disaster but manages not to be because the Protomen are clearly having too much fun. The album doesn't hit me like the first one does but it's good enough.
-
R.E.M. - I Believe
Always a good song for a mood booster.
-
Megadeth - Symphony of Destruction
And, for some reason, this always works for a mood booster for me. :D
-
Rob Scallon - Eventually
Some guy who recently rose through YouTube videos. He's also got a MySpace. He's really good, actually. He's a one-man band, and plays pretty interesting stuff.
-
Roy Brown- Butcher Pete (Part 1)
The song I use to say "Yes, there were lewd songs before now. This one even has prison rape in it."
-
The Happy Hollows - Tambourine.
These guys are pretty good. Not bad for a band that I checked out because the song on a Samsung mobile add that was playing on That Guy With the Glasses a lot was catching in my head. They release an actual physical album later this month which might be worth checking out if you are in the US and are into the whole indie thing.
-
Flyleaf - Beautiful Bride
If you like Evanescence at all, give Flyleaf a listen. Really good stuff.
-
Ehh, that one might be, but the stuff I've heard of Flyleaf is bad screamo.
Depeche Mode - Enjoy the Silence
-
Resistance - Muse: Can't get the song out of my head. Wish the radio would play it more often so I could get tired of it.
-
R.E.M. - Maps And Legends
Good music.
-
Ehh, that one might be, but the stuff I've heard of Flyleaf is bad screamo.
Depeche Mode - Enjoy the Silence
The CD of thiers I have is Memento Mori[Expanded]
It's the only thing by them I've heard, but I like it alot. Definately not bad screamo.
-
R.E.M. - Crazy
mumblemumblemumble YOURHEADISSHAKINGANDYOURARMSARESHAKINGANDYOURFEETARESHAKINGCAUSETHEEARTHISSHAKING mumblemumblemumble. That's classic R.E.M. alright.
EDIT:
Everything But The Girl - The Future Of The Future
-
Florence + the Machine - Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)
Over the top, loud, absurdly emotional and very unsubtle, yet it's absolutely gorgeous.
-
Neuraxis - Versus
I saw these guys live a couple months back. I've never seen someone headbang so fast. He no longer had a neck. I saw only hair moving at what seemed like Mach speed.
-
Florence + the Machine - Drumming
-
Alestorm - Wolves of the Sea
-
STS9 - Move my Peeps
Edit: Nevermind, that video has shit sound quality. The problem with this band is that they usually just play live shows and sell the recordings of their set as a CD, so all the youtube videos of them are of their live shows. The CDs are fine, but it makes it hard to beat people into listening to this band (which you should be doing you twats.)
-
Elvis Costello & the Attractions - No Action
-
Rob Scallon - April
Seriously. This guy's pretty neat.
-
Persona 3 OST - Kimi no Kioku
Seriously, why am I listening to this when I'm playing P3 on mute? Why aren't I just playing with the sound on? >.<
-
Florence and the Machine - Drumming
This is the song from the CD that sticks in my head the most.
-
Alexi Murdoch - Slow Revolution
-
Thrice - The Melting Point of Wax
I still much prefer Thrice's old albums. Their new ones are 'creative' and 'unique', which means they're technical, but sound like shit. I hate it when people hype individuality as being better than actual fucking music.
-
Neurosis - The Eye of Every Storm
-
Eurythmics - Never Gonna Cry Again
The guitar strums in this song are probably the base melody that the Cure always wanted to pull off, but never managed to.
EDIT:
Emiliana Torrini - Unemployed In Summertime
Love In The Time Of Science is beautiful.
-
Everything But The Girl - Temperamental
-
High and Mighty Color - A Place to Go
-
Eurythmics - Take Me To Your Heart
-
Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You
-
Amorphis - Magic and Mayhem
Some weird hybrid of jazz, prog and death metal. Atleast, their early stuff is.
Amon Amarth - Friends of the Suncross
-
VCR - Mega God Blast
-
VCR - Dark Side of the Mall.
-
Florence And The Machine - Rabbit Heart (Raise it Up)
What Grefter and Snow have said.
-
VCR - Really Something/Destroy.
-
Florence + The Machine - Kiss With A Fist
Okay, this? super's love ballad to the universe.
-
Noooooo comment Tai.
Amorphis- Captured state
-
Amorphis- Captured state
I approve.
Immolation - Father, You're Not A Father
-
It makes sense when you listen to it, super.
Delerium - Touched
Have I hyped Delerium? I should. Great easy listening.
-
Have I hyped Delerium? I should. Great easy listening.
Listening to them now. It's pretty good, got a nice trancy feel to it.
Delerium - Angelicus
-
If you like Delerium, check out Conjure One as well.
Speaking of which:
Conjure One - Center of the Sun
-
What Gate said. Conjure One is a spinoff of Delerium, well worth it too. Esp. that song and Endless Dream.
The Postal Service - This Place is a Prison
-
Postal Service makes me think Ben Gibbard.
Death Cab For Cutie - We Looked Like Giants
-
They Might Be Giants - Particle Man
-
Austrian Death Machine - Get To The Choppa.
-
The Ocean - The Human Stain
-
Florence + The Machine - Kiss With A Fist
Okay, this? super's love ballad to the universe.
... you know, you're entirely right.
-
Was at a party last night and as I was looking through the music selection on someones iPod (cause the music they were playing was pretty shitty) I found old Final Fantasy music, so I totally Nerded out and started playing that. It got mixed reviews, but at least a good amount of people recognized the FF6 themes. We even got into an arguement about Racheal's theme and someone said that that song plays in Daryll's Tomb, which it does not. Sadly, they didn't have that particular theme for me to use as a counter.
Good times.
-
Stars - Your Ex-Lover Is Dead
Not as lame as the title would make it sound.
-
Augie March - Asleep In Perfection.
-
Hiroki Kikuta - Quake
The soundtrack for Soukaigi is gorgeous. Now, if only the game wasn't just a notch above unplayably awkward.
EDIT:
Emiliana Torrini - Blame It On The Sun
I love the lyrics on this. I guess I have to blame it on Stevie Wonder.
-
Jonathan Coulton - Skullcrusher Mountain
-
Empire of the Sun - Half Mast.
-
Butch Walker & The Let's-Go-Out-Tonites: Hot Girls in Good Moods.
-
Man you make it hard to listen to downbeat music after a shit day with stuff like that.
Electric Six - Randy's Hot Tonight.
Edit - If you live in a plastic house, you'll never die in a fire.
-
Electric Six - Waste of Time and Money.
Cutting to the front of the line I find my mind is no place to raise a familly.
-
Electric Six - Gay Bar.
Grefter inspired me.
-
Theory in Practice - The Clockwork That Counts Aeons
-
Patti Smith - Pumping (My Heart)
EDIT:
Emiliana Torrini - The Man With The Golden Gun
-
King Crimson - Epitaph
-
Björk - Bachelorette
/me gnaws on Ciato.
-
Augie March - The Devil In Me
-
Devin Townsend- Deadhead
-
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Babe, I'm On Fire.
-
Earthless - Godspeed
Instrumental psychedelic rock at its finest. ;p
-
Blackmore's Night - March The Heroes Home
-
The Smiths - What She Said
This may or may not be a sex joke.
-
Meshuggah - Autonomy Lost / Imprint of the Un-Saved / Disenchantment
It's all one song. Why they chose to divide it into three is beyond me. But Meshuggah are weird like that.
-
Aimee Mann - Phoenix
-
Augie March - Song in the Key of Chance.
-
Ok, before I post this band, I have to say; I am not a fan of their old stuff OR their new stuff.
...but wow, how a band manages to make such a huge leap of genres is truly beyond me.
Pyogenesis (early)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0yXpIZUQwk
Pyogenesis (later)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-i-6CpCDFs
Their Encylopaedia Metallum page doesn't help them, either.
Genre(s)
Death / Doom Metal (early), Alternative rock / pop punk (later)
Lyrical theme(s)
Sorrow, Death (early) / Partying, Dating (later)
loool
What. The. Fuck.
-
Eh. Not that uncommon. Pantera was shitty 80s hair metal before it was OK Hardcore metal, and the Flaming Lips were a pretty good rock band before they became a pretty awesome indie/alt band. So I'm not really that shocked.
The band you linked to is pretty damn mediocre, though. I'll agree with you on that.
Flogging Molly - Selfish Man.
-
KH Pianon Collection 2- Hallow Bastion
This is AWSOMEAWSOMEAWSOME
-
Iron Maiden- The number of the beast
I've never really listened to much Iron Maiden. I need to fix that.

Elvis Costello & the Attractions - Lip Service
-
Florence + The Machine - Drumming Song.

Listening to that as well.
-
Neurosis - No River To Take Me Home
-
The London Apartments - Streetlights are Soldiers.
-
The Jam - A Town Called Malice
Ahh, good music makes college much more tolerable. <3
-
'Til Tuesday and Elvis Costello - The Other End (Of The Telescope)
EDIT:
Elvis Costello & the Attractions - Lipstick Vogue
High-profile organ/bass work in this song. Energetic, tense and out of control even though the song is mostly carried out by the bass and organ arrangements.
-
The Protomen: Keep Quiet
Cheeeese.
-
Clearly the Ciddy needs more Sweden in his life.
Elvis Costello & the Attractions - Night Rally
-
Clearly the Ciddy needs more Sweden in his life.
Did someone call for more Sweden!?
Caramell - Caramelldansen
>_>
<_<
^_^;
-
That works!
Elvis Costello & the Attractions - Radio, Radio
You better listen to the voice of reason.
-
Meshuggah - Straws Pulled At Random
-
Eurythmics - Take Me To Your Heart
Take me to your heart, take me to your heart, take me to your heart, take me to your heart etc.
-
Clearly the Ciddy needs more Sweden in his life.
Did someone call for more Sweden!?
Caramell - Caramelldansen
>_>

^_^;
And here I was expecting Abba
Beck cover of Beatles - I've Got a Feeling.
-
Greft- I mean, Emiliana Torrini - Premiére Loving
EDIT:
Aimee Mann - Looking For Nothing
-
Eluvium - We Say Goodbye To Ourselves
-
Flaming Lips - Race for the Prize
-
Aimee Mann - The Moth
-
Elvis Costello & the Attractions - Lipstick Vogue
You said I've got no feelings - this is a good way to kill 'em.
-
Ahab - Tombstone Carousal
-
Masterplan - Bleeding Eyes
These guys are actually quite awesome. They... vaguely remind me of Dream Theater, except I don't like all of Dream Theater's stuff.
-
So, stay away from Masterplan, got it.
Everything But The Girl - Get Back Together
-
Caspian - Sea Lawn
Nice post-rock, similar to Explosions in the Sky, for anyone interested.
-
Masterplan do a pretty alright cover of Heroes that I downloaded by accident. You still suck for not liking nearly everything in Dreamtheater's catalogue, they really do not miss.
Bjork - Hyperballad
-
Emilana Torrini - Today Has Been Okay.
-
Masterplan do a pretty alright cover of Heroes that I downloaded by accident. You still suck for not liking nearly everything in Dreamtheater's catalogue, they really do not miss.
Bjork - Hyperballad
Prog rock of any nature = pass.
Florence and the Machine - Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)
-
Florence and the Machine - Howl
The fabric of your flesh feels like a wedding dress.
-
Prog rock of any nature = pass.
Florence and the Machine - Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)
Difference being you don't like one prog group and then dislike some parts of the most refined version of the genre.
Kinky - Una Linea De Luz
-
Prog rock of any nature = pass.
Florence and the Machine - Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)
Difference being you don't like one prog group and then dislike some parts of the most refined version of the genre.
Yes, that's what disliking the genre does. Same reason I consider any sort of metal thoroughly unlistenable.
Florence and the Machine - You've Got The Love
EDIT:
Emiliana Torrini - Blame It On The Sun
-
This is why I don't reccomend it to you (and shock you don't like Dream Theater since they are prog metal).
Kinky - Agan and So On.
This is how you can get away with liberal synth work. Include real instruments. In this case a Piano Accordian lets them get away with a lot.
-
Arckanum - Þursvitnir
Intense black metal, yeeeeeee- *shot*
No, but seriously, there's crappy black metal (the majority of it), and there's good black metal. This is the latter. Although I certainly don't expect that to convince any of you to even momentarily listen to this. ;p
-
This is how you can get away with liberal synth work. Include real instruments.
Quoted for motherfucking truth.
The Smiths - This Joke Isn't Funny Anymore
Insert quip about "jesus christ Morrissey stop being a VSM and ask him out".
-
Asriel - Rengoku no Sora no Aurola
KOKOMI has the most beautiful voice ever. It makes me melt~
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeLYRrMKJJs&feature=player_embedded
Leaked Daft Punk track for the Tron reboot.
-
As Winter Burns White - Prism Symmetry
I fell in love with these guys back in '09 when released a demo, and I've been looking forward to see them come out with an album.
...but instead, they decided to disband. All I'll ever have is this demo. Guh. -_-
-
Eurythmics - Sing-Sing
EDIT:
Eurythmics - Belinda
Belindaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa your mind is dreaming, Belindaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa it's so misleading, Belindaaaaaaaaaaaaa
-
311 - Beautiful Disaster
Catchy.
EDIT:
311 - I'll Be Here Awhile
Really catchy. Man, these guys are better than I remember them to be. ;p
Actually, this sounds like Rancid + Bob Marley.
-
Rise Against - The Dirt Whispered
This is a strangely happy sounding song. Fuuun~
-
Elvis Costello & the Attractions - From A Whisper To A Scream
Takin' ev'ry word she says like an open invitation - but the power of persuasion is no match for anticipation.
EDIT:
Elvis Costello & the Attractions - White Knuckles
This song is such a bonafide example of how carnival-like David Nieve's organ can get. This is one of my favorite things about the band's music. And dear god, The Attractions were basically one of the most superbly calibrated backup bands in the early '80s.
-
Siouxsie & the Banshees - Blow The House Down
Mad, unnerving and manic little song. Never even feels nearly seven minutes long to me.
-
Mirrorthrone - Dismay
EDIT:
Donkey Kong Country Soundtrack - The Credits Concerto
Hehe. This tune is awesome.
-
Powderfinger - Wishing on the Same Moon.
-
Axenstar - Far From Heaven
Epic power metal. *strips naked and unsheathes a claymore*
-
So it is stupid?
Floyd Thursby and the Definite Article - Evil For This Land.
-
Dido - I'm No Angel
Old favorite of mine.
-
The Lonely Island - Jizz in my Pants
Perfect for working at college. Obviously.
-
Sevendust- Denial
-
Axenstar - Far From Heaven
Epic power metal. *strips naked and unsheathes a claymore*
So it is stupid?
Rethorical question.
Elvis Costello & the Attractions - Beyond Belief
-
Florence + the Machine - Howl
EDIT:
Emiliana Torrini - I Really Loved Harold
-
So it is stupid?
Who's to say stupidity can't be enjoyed sometimes? ;p
Celestial Season - Dancing To A Thousand Symphonies
-
Aimee Mann - Looking For Nothing
-
Edward Maya - Stereo Love (Extended Mix)
I can't stop listening to this. I want to put a bullet between my eyes.
-
Mogwai - The Sun Smells Too Loud
-
AC/DC: Thunderstruck
-
Vivaldi- Spring 1
-
Dvorak - New World Symphony
-
Celestial Season - Vienna
-
Ben Folds - The Luckiest
EDIT:
Björk - Crying
SHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUT
-
The Happy Hollows - High Wire.
Think their album comes out tomorrow, worth checking out if you can find it.
-
What is that band about, and would I tolerate/like/hype it?
Björk - Violently Happy
-
I dunno, it is an indie group that do stuff. Check out their Myspace page for a taste of it
http://www.myspace.com/thehappyhollows
Heard part of High Wire on Samsung mobile ads for like 2 weeks watching stuff on That Guy With the Glasses and it was sticking with me, so downloaded their album and was not disappointed. Not really sure if it is up your alley or not.
-
Explosions in the Sky - Have You Passed Through This Night?
-
Blondie - X Offender
/me CRACKS UP.
-
Blondie - I'm On E
Dear god, this is hysterical.
-
Hacksaw to the Throat - Cascading Down
Did you know eating a stick of celery actually burns seven calories?
-
I did, actually! That's also assuming you're eating JUST the celery with no dip/peanut butter/cream cheese/anything to add real flavor. So screw that. >_>
Anyway
Tokio Hotel - Monsoon
Jenna just picked this up, it's pretty good.
-
Ar Tonelico3- EXEC_COSMOFLIPS/.
KOKIA is as godly as she always is.
-
The Happy Hollows - A Man, A Plan, A Canal.
That specific Tokio Hotel song is indeed pretty cool. I should see if my brother has any of their albums.
-
Persona 1 PSP - "A Lone Prayer"
Man, this is better than Reach Out to the Truth.
-
Echo & the Bunnymen - Show Of Strength
-
End of Eternity- Resonance of Fate
I'll be a lot more happier if Tanaka did the whole soundtrack and Sakuraba stays out.
-
Mouth of the Architect - Harboring An Apparition
AND, did you know, it's illegal to hunt camels in Arizona?
-
I don't care what the fat cats in the legislature say, those fuckers had it coming.
-
The Smiths - Reel Around The Fountain
This would be like VSM's theme song, only VSM doesn't even get laid.
-
Silent Civilian - Funeral
-
Elvis Costello & the Attractions - What's So Funny ('Bout Peace, Love And Understanding)?
EDIT:
Blondie - The Thin Line
Glorious, glorious pop.
-
Everything But The Girl - We Walk The Same Line
Amplified Heart is subdued, seeping and subtle, yet remarkable. Great twilight for EBTG's non-electronic stage.
-
Khoma - Hyenas
Well, bugger my bumblebee's breadbin!
-
Blondie - A Shark In Jets
-
So, liking Blondie it seems.
Mumford & Sons - Sigh No More.
-
So, liking Blondie it seems.
What can I say? It's the sexiest dorky band I've listened to in years. I still need to grab Eat It To The Beat, but both the debut and Plastic Letters are pop jewels.
Eurythmics - English Summer
-
C+C Music Factory - Gonna Make You Sweat
-
Unwritten law- Cailin
-
Emilana Torrini - Snow.
-
Brian Eno - Music For Airports 1-1
Soooo beautifully relaxing.
-
Emilana Torrini - Snow.
what
The Cranberries - Still Can't...
-
OH YEAH, I nearly forgot!
Gannondorf - King of Thieves (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VI7XpC06ODI)
It's a black metal band that sings only about the Zelda series, with a particular emphasis on Ganondorf. Hylian Black Metal, they call themselves.
Yes, I -had- to share. ;p
-
Everything But The Girl - Rollercoaster
-
Unwritten law- Seein' Red
-
Emiliana Torrini - Blame It On The Sun
-
Emilana Torrini - Heard it All Before.
Snow is off Fisherman's Woman.
-
Figures, it's the Torrini album I listen to the least.
Siouxsie & the Banshees - Trust In Me
-
Hail of Bullets - Stalingrad
Apparently, grass didn't start existing until millions of years after the dinosaurs died.
-
Figures the one you listened to the least is the one that got me into her. It is by far the most downplayed album she has and full of that bittersweet stuff that I enjoy.
-
Figures the one you listened to the least is the one that got me into her. It is by far the most downplayed album she has and full of that bittersweet stuff that I enjoy.
It definitely is pretty cool. It's just that what really got me into her wasn't the subdued stuff, particularly since it starts assuming a somewhat samey quality that can be seen in, say, Aimee Mann albums, but it sorta lacks the songwriting strength that Aimee possesses. Emiliana interests me more when she's branching and playing with styles.
Björk - Big Time Sensuality
-
Ion Dissonance - The Death of One Man Is a Tragedy, The Death of 10,000 Is a Statistic
Avocados are somehow poisonous to birds. Neat.
-
BlazBlue CS- Gluttony Fang
-
Eurythmics - Adrian
-
Rockabye Baby - The Modern Things (Bjork cover)
-
Echo & the Bunnymen - Turquoise Days
-
Interpol - Leif Erikson
Mhm.
-
Blondie - Fan Mail
I sold my one vision for a piece of the cake - I haven't ate in days.
-
Frozen Ghost - Ned's Mental
Dark psytrance, woot.
-
Everything But The Girl - I Don't Understand Anything
What a magnificently subdued post-loss album.
-
Went to the Expendables concert last night. Fuck yeah!
Amazing show, and now I have Against Me, and Dropkick Murphy shows coming up as well.
Gonna be a fun couple of weeks!
-
Of Montreal - Grolandic Edit
Sweet, another band to be autistic about and listen to until I get sick of.
-
Stars of the Lid - That Finger On Your Temple is the Barrel of My Raygun
EDIT:
Stars of the Lid - The Daughters of Quiet Minds
-
The Bangles - Walking Down Your Street
-
Blondie - A Shark In Jet's Clothing
EDIT:
Blonde - No Imagination
Funny, entertaining, clever, refreshingly dorky, hook-filled and sarcastic. Plastic Letter is -everything- you could ever hope from a pop album.
-
Paramore - Playing God
Paramore doesn't seem to have anything I actively dislike yet. A whooooole lot of completely forgettable and the occasional gem.
-
T3h Shred Boiz - The Incredible Adventures of Super Secret Agent Wonderbread in the Islands of Dr. Africa
*refrains from commenting*
-
Adrian Younge- Theme from Black Dynamite
-
10,000 Maniacs - Grey Victory
EDIT:
Elvis Costello and the Attractions - Accidents Will Happen
Accidents will happen, we only hit and run.
-
Everything But The Girl - When All's Well
We are not true. We are not pure. We are not right.
-
Kings of Leon- Sex on Fire
Gate: Yeah, agreed. Decode is a ton of fun but nothing else of Paramore's I've heard stands out.
-
Paramore are very much one of those bands I'm ashamed to admit I listen to. The singer is whiny, the music is generic, but it's nothing amazingly terrible, just not particularly good either. (That's going by one album, though, haven't heard their other stuff. And apparently, it's the album with neither of those songs you guys mentioned)
High and Mighty Color - Haitoku no Jonetsu
HaMC have to be one of the best jRock bands I know, and this is almost certainly one of their best. <3
-
The Alfee - Wings of Freedom
-
Of Montreal - Heimsdallgate like a Promethian Curse
hipsters
-
Blondie - Cautious Lip
-
Arckanum - Þá Kómu Niflstormum
I wish I could pronounce that.
-
The Smiths - Still Ill
I don't know if you're still ill, Morrissey, but you still need to get laid by Johnny Marr.
-
Talking Heads - New Feeling
Holy shit, the jangling guitars are badass. And then, there's the fact I -like- David Byrne's weird vocals for some reason.
-
Ghosts - Stay the Night.
I wasn't aware that there was something wrong with Talking Heads lyrically at all.
Also there is nothing wrong with liking Paramore. You just have to be a female between the age of 15 and 35.
-
Alestorm - Heavy Metal Pirates.
-
Ghosts - Stay the Night.
I wasn't aware that there was something wrong with Talking Heads lyrically at all.
I meant the voice. Which is bizarre, but endearing. The lyrics, I have yet to decipher.
Talking Heads - Uh-Oh, Love Comes To Town
EDIT:
Talking Heads - Psycho Killer
psycho killer, qu'est-ce que c'est fafafafafafafafafa better runrunrunruuuuuun awaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
-
Blondie - The Attack Of The Giant Ants
Mankind is destroyed, sprinkled in the void~ LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA~
-
Between the Buried and Me - Mirrors
First track on their newest album. I kinda didn't like their new album at first, but it's growing on me.
-
Talking Heads - Uh Oh, Love Comes To Town
HOLY FUCK HEADPHONES TURN THIS INTO MUSIC SEX
EDIT:
Aimee Mann - Lost In Sunday 51
The slow, melancholy strumming drive a great atmosphere. And then, there're the plangent piano notes just as the chorus comes back for one last show. I really like this song.
-
Elvis Costello & the Imposters - No Hiding Place
Are you feeling out of breath now, in your desperate pursuit of infamy?
-
Ellegarden - Stereoman
If nothing else, these guys are the best damn singers of English you'll find in Japan. There may be one or two odd moments where the accent slips, but it mostly sounds like some kind of odd American accent. Also, song is awesome, etc, etc.
-
Talking Heads - With Our Love
I think I'm falling in love with these guitars.
-
Conjure One - Manic Star
Always a good song to start the day off with.
-
Between the Buried and Me - Disease, Injury, Madness
EDIT:
Explosions in the Sky - Have You Passed Through This Night?
-
Utena- Zettai Unmei Mokushiroku
-
HOLY FUCK HEADPHONES TURN THIS INTO MUSIC SEX
If you are going to get into the music thing you really will come to love a good set of headphones, they do wonders for so many tracks.
Joe Satriani - Motorcycle Driver.
-
Stormtroopers of Death - Milk (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELdThfdw0QA)
Best lyrics I've ever heard.
-
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - As I Sat Sadly By Her Side.
-
The Hours - Ali in the Jungle
Yes, yes, I am late to the party. But goddamn if Nike commercials don't make me want to go be an athlete. And the lyrics are inspiring, for which I am a sucker, and I love the backbeat.
-
This Will Destroy You - Happiness: We're In It Together
-
Vampire Weekend - Cousins
I am a hipster.
-
Vampire Weekend - California English.
There is nothing wrong with that, Contra is a really good album that caught me off guard how good it is.
-
Persona 4 - Pursuing my True Self.
Good background music for legal writing. "Beware of information overload" and "What the fuck am I doing with my life" have been common themes since I started the nonstop-study/writing 2 days ago.
-
Vampire Weekend - Giving Up the Gun.
hipsterhipsterhipsterhipster and I don't give a shit. If this music makes me a hipster, someone pass me the PBR and thick rimmed glasses.
-
For the Fallen Dream - This World Around Us
-
Aphex Twin - Kladfvgbung MicshK
Liking Vampire Weekend makes you about as much a hipster as me like Aphex Twin makes me a fucking raver.
-
Aphex Twin - Kladfvgbung MicshK
Liking Vampire Weekend makes you about as much a hipster as me like Aphex Twin makes me a fucking raver.
And that's Grefter with a shirt off 30 glow bracelets a neon pink-and-green pacifier around his neck and body paint around his nipples. Also his hair is in four pig tails that are tied together with glow in the dark hair ties. Good night.
Four Tet - Circling
EDIT: Also he is on a lot of speed.
-
Aphex Twin - hy a Scullayas lyf adhagrow.
I don't do nearly enough drugs to do that (edit - this means none at all) and if I was to be expanding my mind it wouldn't be with ekkies, I would be hitting the LSD and sitting down looking at clouds for a few days.
-
Aphex Twin - Fingerbib
Yeah. Aphex Twin rules.
-
Electric Six - One Sick Puppy.
-
Heart - Alone
-
Blondie - One Way Or Another
-
4 Strings - Fly Away
-
Animal Collective - What Would I Want, Sky?
-
Gannondorf - Thriller (cover)
Black metal band that named itself after a Zelda character covers MJ's Thriller.
*head asplodes*
-
Salmonella Dub - Dub Tune Barry (Wasteful)
-
Voltaire - Death Death (Devil Devil Evil Evil Songs)
Man, this song is hilarious and one that sticks in your head. Awesome.
"And I sang death death devil devil evil evil songs!"
-
Mogwai - I'm Jim Morrison, I'm Dead.
I was listening to Warm Hands by The Flashbulb earlier today and was thinking that it was probably the most soothing song I have come accross to use break beats (it is a very relaxing song). Listening to this now, I realise this has a similar effect and quite obviously does not use break beats, but just highlights how relaxing Mogwai is (and Flashbulb on Soundtrack to a Vacant Life).
-
The Blackbyrds - Unfinished Business
Anyone like jazz?
-
Mastodon - Blood and Thunder
spit your lungs with blood and thuuundeeeerrrr / when you see the white whaaaaaaale
Wooooo.
-
... And you will Know Us By The Trail of Dead - Naked Sun.
-
Blackmore's Night - Wind in the Willows
Nice and peaceful songs are good when I'm sick. Anything angry or angsty or even with just alot of high energy guitar makes me queasy. -_-
-
The new Gorillaz album (streaming here (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=124114812) if anybody cares). It's pretty good, but not topping Demon Days.
Edit: I'm only half an hour in, but damn, this is the lowest-key stuff I've ever heard from the Gorillaz name. I think the fastest song on the album so far is about as upbeat as Fire Coming Out Of The Monkey's Head.
Edit again: Finished and yeah, that's about right. No need to take my word for it when the Internet exists, but I hope anybody who was looking forward to Plastic Beach really liked Double Bass and November Has Come.
-
Elvis Costello & The Attractions - Radio, Radio
Been a while since I gave This Year's Model a spin. As usual, it's excellent.
-
Blondie - One Way Or Another
-
Florence+the Machine - Howl
Drag my teeth across your chest to taste your bleeding heart.
-
Delerium - A Poem For Byzantium
I do not seek and do not intend to find a calmer ocean or a sun that will never rise.
-
Liquid Tension Experiment - Acid Rain
I'm not averse to instrumentals - game OST fan, etc, etc - but HOLY SHIT THIS SONG. For people who don't like instrumentals, this is the song to get them listening to them. LTE are amazing, and this song is ADSFGGVRGRTVWHRE.
Also, I need to use headphones so much more. I currently use them when listening to music, like, once every one or two months. Headphones turn this from "Hey, this is pretty good!" into... well, the above reaction.
-
Utena: An Immortal Emperor in a Mundane Universe
-
What is that Yoshi? The sky is BLUE? LTE are indeed beyond awesome (watch Dream Theatre live at any given opportunity, they are fucking amazing to see) and headphones are integral for catching subtle nuances of so many tracks short of spending several thousand dollars on audio equipment. A hundred or 2 on headphones that are good quality and actually output bass is far far easier to handle than the cost of a sound system that has the same all encompassing effect that a set of heads have.
Also there is so many reasons that instrumentals like Acid Rain are better and easier to listen to than video game music or anime music. This is because it is not written (and mixed) as a piece of background music meant to enhance something else that is happening. The instrumentation is taking full focus on what you need to be paying attention to. It is a complete song instead of being 1/3 of something designed to be a multimedia experience. It is its whole own thing and it shows.
Vampire Weekend - Giving Up the Gun.
-
*Looks up Liquid Tension Experiment* Oh hey, Tony Levin (olllld prog-rocker, Yes/King Crimson). Good to see he's still keeping busy.
-
LTE is fucking awesome, yes, and I completely support hype for it.
Delerium - Touched
-
So is that Gorillaz album is good, decent or a let down? because I forgot abut ti! Need to get that double time!
~
Went to a Dropkick Murphys concert last night! That shit was hella fun. got in the mosh pit which was a first for me. Talk about a bunch of busy bodies. The crowd never stopped pushing and moving. I also got picked up and was crowd surfing for a good 5-10 seconds.
Good time!
-
It's pretty damn good for what it is, just don't expect a lot of up-tempo stuff. If you were hoping for more singles like Clint Eastwood or Feel Good, Inc., you'll come away disappointed. If you liked Every Planet We Reach Is Dead, Dracula and Double Bass, dive right in.
-
Aphex Twin - Windowlicker
-
Dolly - Je Ne Veux Pas Rester Sage
The lead singer's pretty good, band is fairly pedestrian at least in this song. Killing Time's better.
-
Dropkick Murphys - Wicked Sensitive Crew
This song never fails to make me laugh.
-
Death Cab for Cutie - Someday You Will Be Loved (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=neXaFUmiV3g)
Got the Plans CD on Saturday, have been largely listening to it on constant loop. This is really good.
-
I just listened to Peter Gabriel's cover album from earlier this year. The tracklist is here (http://www.petergabriel.com/news/archive/2009/11/13/'Scratch_My_Back'_album_release_due_on__January_25th_2010).
Peter Gabriel you're SO WEIRD
-
I didn't even know that existed. I fail at being a Peter Gabriel fan. *checks tracklist* Hah, he does Arcade Fire. Nice.
-
Audioslave - I am the Highway.
-
Electric Six - Your Heat is Rising
Anytime you wanna leave your lover for me
Would be a good time to leave your lover for me
I think this might be my favorite Electric Six CD. I thought that would be impossible.
-
Wil Wheaton's Radio Free Burrito podcast. He actually has some pretty funky music on there and is pretty funny. Not bad a find when just grasping for things to fill in the gaping hole that is fun while playing FF13.
And yes, Flashy just may be their best album. I can't choose between Flashy and Exterminate. Kill was the first album that they didn't just keep getting better and better and Kill is still chock full of unfathomable depths of awesome.
-
I haven't been able to get into Kill, but I got Kill and Flashy at the same time and Flashy is much better.
Electric Six - Dirty Ball
thank god my ball will never hate you
-
Death Cab for Cutie - I Will Follow You Into The Dark
Morbid song, but really good.
-
Angus and Julia Stone - A Book Like This.
So they have a new album out and I still don't have it. What is up with that?
-
Ghost in the Shell- Inner universe
-
Angus and Julia Stone - Draw Your Swords.
So the new album does not disappoint.
-
Electric Six - Gay Bar Part 2.
Most listened to song on iPod.
-
Talking Heads - No Compassion
-
Donna Burke - Wondering
-
Death Cab for Cutie - Title and Registration
Man, how did I not get into this band sooner.
-
Diamond Dogs.
The whole album.
-
Alone in the Dark (2008) - An End for a Prelude
Bulgarian chorus for the win
-
Electric Six - Broken Machine.
-
Snow Patrol - Shut Your Eyes
-
Kristin Chenoweth - Taylor the Latte Boy
-
Liquid Tension Experiment - Acid Rain.
-
Ozzy: No More Tears
-
Alice Cooper - I Never Cry.
-
Hot Girls in Good Moods, by Butch Walker and the Let's-Go-Out-Tonights.
Actually, let's just extend that to the whole album: "The Rise and Fall of Butch Walker and the Let's-Go-Out-Tonights."
-
Emma Pollock - Red Orange Green
-
David Bowie - 5:15 The Angels Have Gone.
-
Wild ARMS ACF OST - A Mere Test Of Ability
I keep forgetting to nominate this one when music tournaments come around.
-
Skitchin' soundtrack - Eat My Junk.
-
Father of Death - First half of this album is still amazing. WHY ARE YOU PEOPLE NOT LISTENING TO IT.
-
Because it's in the car right now, okay.
-
Glee cast- Like a prayer
Blame OK.
-
Yeeeeeesssssss.....YYYYYEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS....
-
From Jon LaJoie (the guy who wrote "Show Me Your Genitals," "Show Me Your Genitals 2: E=MC Vagina," and "I Kill People"), the "2 Girls 1 Cup Song."
Some like to say I love you, some even shout it out. Some like to puke semi-digested shit in to each other's mouths.
-
The Kovenant - Mannequin
-
Angus and Julia Stone - Draw Your Swords.
-
Blondie - Hanging On The Telephone
I have to interrupt, to stop this conversation: your voice across the line gives me a strange sensation~
-
Aimee Mann - Invisible Ink
I feel like a ghost who's trying to move your hands over some Ouija board on the hopes I can spell out my name.
-
The Alan Parsons Project: Damned if I Do
-
Devin Townsend - Deadhead
Hey, he's Canadian!
-
Electric Six - I'm The Bomb
Classic.
-
LCD Soundsystem - Home
This album is great. Only one shitty song that's in spite of it all still pretty dang catchy? Yeah.
-
Electric Six - Radio Ga Ga
Didn't care for the song much at first, but it grew on me.
-
Bethamphetamine (Pretty Pretty)- Butch Walker and the Let's-Go-Out-Tonites
-
Electric Six - Body Shot.
-
Saban Entertainment - "Power Rangers: Zeo Opening"
-
Gorillaz - Rhinestone Eyes
-
LCD Soundsystem - Dance Yrself Clean
Song is so awesome I completely forgive the obnoxious spelling.
-
ELO - Last Train to London
-
LCD Soundsystem - Dance Yrself Clean
Song is so awesome I completely forgive the obnoxious spelling.
Vampire Weekend - I Think Ur a Contra
-
Yeah that's another one. Check out "This is Happening" if you haven't yet, Grefter. It is awesome.
LCD Soundsystem - You Wanted A Hit
-
Chris de Burgh - Patricia the Stripper
This is delicious.
...or Delicia.
-
Blink 182 - What's My Age Again?
In honor of my 23rd birthday.
-
Breaking Benjamin - "I Will Not Bow"
-
The Cure - Plainsong
May as well.
-
Street Sweeper Social Club - Promenade.
-
Conjure One - Extraordinary Ways
Compared to the self titled album, not much on Extraordinary Ways stands out to be honest. The title track isn't bad at all, though.
-
Animals - Miike Snow
I downloaded music from Bjork (expected, one of my favorite artists), Miike Snow, MF Doom (chat reminded me I haven't heard his latest album), Neon Indian, Far East Movement, Ghostface Killah, Toro y Moi, and The xx. Besides Bjork, MF, GK and FEA, all of these artists are part of chillwave.
-
Joe Satriani - Borg Sex.
-
Deep Blue Something - Breakfast at Tiffany's
I need to get more stuff by these guys. They are very suited to typical DL tastes, on that note.
-
The Knife - Hangin' Out.
-
Ayreon - Day Six: Childhood
Tai, did I ever say how awesome you were for introducing me to these? They're kinda awesome. Got anything else similar to them?
-
Prod Grefter/Ciato, they'd probably know better than I similar artists.
-
Usually when people start talking about crazy metal concept albums, I try and club them into listening to Operation: Mindcrime by Queensryche.
-
Queensryche are a bit different than Ayreon, but if it is Metal Concept albums you are after (which Ayreon do on occasion edit - Joke since that is like all they do) then you can't really go past Operation: Mindcrime as it is one of the best concept albums in the genre.
Los Campesinos! - In Medias Res.
Edit - TO make sentence make sense.
-
Los Campesinos! - There Are Listed Buildings.
-
Shadow Gallery- Tyranny is a good one as well. It's definitely more in the vein of Operation: Mindcrime though.
-
*Looks up Shadow Gallery, confirms name comes from where it sounds like it comes from, adds to the list of people Cid needs to listen to.*
-
Les Miserables - Just about everything.
Dunno what prompted me, but I listened to "One Day More" and "Do You Hear The People Sing" and one thing led to another, and...well, here we are! Been a while since I listened/saw this, but its still good stuff.
-
Lady Gaga - Paparazzi
-
Les Miserables - Just about everything.
Dunno what prompted me, but I listened to "One Day More" and "Do You Hear The People Sing" and one thing led to another, and...well, here we are! Been a while since I listened/saw this, but its still good stuff.
Man, listened to One Day More before my last law final. It was badass.
-
Shadow Gallery singer is the father in Day Sixteen btw. Devin Townsend, another of my favorites (less concept albumy) is the angry screaming at the end.
Speaking of which:
Devin Townsend - Deadhead
-
Speaking of angry screaming.
The Dillinger Escape Plan - Setting Fire To Sleeping Giants.
-
Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog - "My Eyes/On the Rise"
-
Joe Satriani - Devil's Slide.
Engines of Creation is awesome.
-
It is, yes. Last album of his that I really, really liked. (Everything afterwards is just okay as far as Satriani goes.)
-
Animaniacs - The Nations of the World.
Yakko's avatar reminded me~
-
Ghosts - Temporary.
-
Peter Gabriel: Heroes
-
Joe Satriani - Musterion.
Not sure what is not to like on this album El Cid, but such is life.
-
Didn't say I disliked it. Just not as good as the earlier stuff.
Peter Gabriel: Down the Dolce Vita
-
Fair enough.
Los Campesinos! - The Sea is a Good Place to Think of the Future.
-
Los Campesinos! - Who Fell Asleep.
She turned her back on the church and put all her faith in me
At the back of the chapel where I taught her to screw and to blaspheme
We turned our backs to the church, with our trousers around our knees
While screaming the scriptures she said I was her favourite heresy
-
Funkadelic - Maggot Brain
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dh3bleXWaCk&feature=player_embedded
-
More Funkadelic. Cool song, but I'm mostly listening to it on repeat because of the name.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_mft1INhes
-
Funkadelic and Parliment are fucking great times. I would love to have seen them live in their full swing. So many people on stage and just so funky.
Los Campesinons! - Straight In At 101.
Fun song about how dramatic break ups are and how horrible people can be in them. It acknowledges that in a kind of perverse voyeurism they can be fun to an outsider to watch. I love that they can do this in 4 minutes of music. Not to mention it is catchy as all fuck.
-
Funkadelic - Who Says a Funk Band Can't Play Rock?
Incidentally, George Clinton was in Albuquerque back in March and I had no idea about it until now. I am disappoint.
EDIT: Wait they are coming next week. But I have no money to go. Alas.
-
Joan Jett & the Blackhearts - I Love Rock N Roll
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3T_xeoGES8
Because it was the #1 song on the US charts the day I was born. God damn does that make me feel cool. (thanks, Mom!)
-
Street Sweeper Social Club - Fight! Smash! Win!
-
Darren Hayes - Spin
Quite possibly the most appropriate song for Audiosurf ever. "When the music feels like this" indeed.
On another note, it was very difficult not to put a tilde at the end of the song name. <_<;
-
Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
Ya can't plant in your penthouse... I'm going back to my plow~
-
Electric Six - Radio Ga Ga
You have the time, you have the power, you're yet to have your finest hour.
-
Don Henley - Boys of Summer.
I can tell you my love for you will still be strong after the boys of summer have gone.
-
COLDPLAY LISTENING EXTRAVAGANZA IN THE OFFICE. AWS YEAH.
-
COLDPLAY LISTENING EXTRAVAGANZA IN THE OFFICE. AWS YEAH.
eeeeeew
-
now it's lady gaga
-
Florence + the Machine - Howl
My fingers claw your skin, try to tear my way in, you are the moon that breaks the night for which I have to -
-
COLDPLAY LISTENING EXTRAVAGANZA IN THE OFFICE. AWS YEAH.
eeeeeew
This is why you fail.
Powderfinger - Passenger.
-
Sepultura - Roots Bloody Roots
-
So in the Coldplay listening marathon I found a song I liked
Coldplay - Viva la Vida
-
Coldplay are pretty awesome as long as you can tolerate the singer sounding like he's been half-drowned for his entire life. ;o
Thrice - Deadbolt
-
COLDPLAY LISTENING EXTRAVAGANZA IN THE OFFICE. AWS YEAH.
eeeeeew
This is why you fail.
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of Chris Martin's voice ruining what is otherwise effective songwriting.
Blondie - Hanging On The Telephone
-
Vampire Weekend - M79.
-
Vampire Weekend - I Stand Corrected.
-
OK Go - Invincible
-
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of Chris Martin's voice ruining what is otherwise effective songwriting.
I'd mostly agree, but the particular song Ciato hyped is good enough to make me not care.
Godspeed You Black Emperor: Motherfucker = Redeemer
-
Jet Black Stare - "Ready to Roll"
-
Street Sweeper Social Club - Promenade.
Tom Morello, Square Dance and Rap. This is awesome of course.
-
Franz Ferdinand - This Fire.
It really is a shame that I don't care much for anything on You Could Have It So Much Better and Blood, because man their self titled album from 2004 is really awesome.
-
Cocteau Twins - Shallow Then Halo
This is -weird-.
-
Toro Y Moi - Blessa.
-
Sonata Arctica - Don't Say a Word.
Okay so I put my personal music folder on random and started playing (4 Weejs 21 hours, 51 minutes and 50 seconds so far, I haven't moved my New Music into the folder yet and still have some to rip). Wanting to give a listen to some stuff I haven't really given a fair spin.
I tell you what it is actually nice to randomly walk into a room and have metal playing and actually enjoy it. Whenever I have gone to throw on a random metal album lately it has been hard for me to get into. So random is the go I guess.
-
Cocteau Twins - The Tinderbox (of the Heart)
Okay, I'm getting into this.
-
Heart - Surrender To Me
-
Rollin (Remix) w/ Jackie Chain & KiD CuDi. Mm. Been listening to a lot of stuff nonstop today. Just what's up now since intarwebs works again.
-
Moby - The Sky is Broken.
-
Cocteau Twins - My Love Paramour
Cocteau Twins is quickly turning to be pretty damn awesome to my tastes.
-
David Bowie - Underground.
It's only forever. Not long at all.
Edit - Depeche Mode - Blue Dress.
-
Might as well start postin' here on a regular basis again. Might get me more active everywhere else. ;p
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Providence
-
The Pillows - ファニー・バニー
-
Mumford and Sons - After the Storm
-
The Bloody Beetroots - Awesome.
This is a great song because not only do I love electronica, but I also love midwest to east coast rap and the Cool Kids are my new fav from Chicago.
-
Devin Townsend - Bonus Track
-
Russian Circles - Station
-
Dragonforce - Revolution Deathsquad
Ahh, this is the song I dislocated my jaw singing along to. Fun times.
-
David Bowie - A Better Future.
-
Irepress - Barrageo
-
Siousxie and the Banshees: Blow Your House Down
Emperor Norton decrees that the next five posts should be songs about the end of the world. Go.
-
Blondie - Attack Of The Giant Ants
Yup.
-
Peter Gabriel: Here Comes the Flood
-
Nest - Last Vestige of Old Joy
Cool stuff. Dark neo-folk-ish, if that makes any sense. Check it out if you're interested.
-
David Bowie - Five Years.
-
Saw that one coming.
Talking Heads: Nothing but Flowers
-
Cold War Kids - We Used To Vacation.
-
Neurosis - The Eye of Every Storm

David Bowie - Reality.
Tragic youth was looking young and sexy.

Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up
-
Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up
I RickRolled my entire extended family at a wedding last month. Good times.
-
*shels - Return to Gulu
-
Cocteau Twins - When Mama Was Moth
I like the multilayered moods these guys make.
-
Electric Six - Electric Demons In Love.
I don't mind the forces of evil if they bring me closer to you.
-
Alphaville - Forever Young
-
Agalloch - Not Unlike The Waves
-
Don Henley- Everything is Different Now
She said I don't care what you do for a living
I don't care what kind of car you drive
All I wanna know right now is what do you believe in
What's it mean for you to be alive?
-
Don Henley- Everything is Different Now
She said I don't care what you do for a living
I don't care what kind of car you drive
All I wanna know right now is what do you believe in
What's it mean for you to be alive?
Pffft, car is definitely important. I would never date someone who is dumb enough to drive an Element.
-
Hey now. The Honda Element is an important milestone. It's the first car designed entirely by blind people.
-
Toto - Africa.
-
Liquid Tension Experiment - Acid Rain.
-
Cocteau Twins - Pandora
-
Phalanx - Ultimatum
-
Dream Theater - Metropolis Part 1: The Miracle and the Sleeper.
-
Pseudo Echo - Funky Town
-
The Fray - How To Save A Life.
-
Glee Volume 3 - Home (featuring Kristin Chenoweth)
...damnit, I need a new pair of boxers
-
.hack//sign - Aura
This one really grows on you after awhile.
-
Angus and Julia Stone - And the Boys.
So I was listening to some Angus and Julia Stone on random and was thinking, man I have been listening to this for a while and it has really calmed me down after a while. Turns out it was 3 songs in and had chilled me right the fuck down. Awesome stuff.
-
Vuvuzela Time - Vuvuzelas
Yup.
-
Vuvuzela Time - Vuvuzelas
Yup.
-
... And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead - Halcyon Days.
-
Iwadare - Shi-Long Lang ~ Speak up, Pup!
-
Joe Satriani - Borg Sex.
-
... And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead - Halcyon Days.
I've always been curious about this band just due to the name. (How could you not be, with a name like that?) Never got around to listening to them, though.
-
They are pretty cool. Fairly mellow stuff, but worth the purchases I have made. Not depressing Tom Waits or Nick cave or anything, just pretty chilled music. They aren't as mind blowing as Mogwai but they are a bit more approachable if you can't handle Instrumentals (which you don't have an issue with obviously). Worth a look really.
The Dillinger Escape Plan - Gold Teeth on a Bum.
-
Ghost In the Shell- Inner Universe
-
Noriyuki Iwadare - Pursuit ~ Lying Coldly
-
Cocteau Twins - Ivo
Man, Treasure is -astounding-. I'd gnaw Grefter into listening to this, but I'm pretty sure he already has.
-
Noriyuki Iwadare - Kay Faraday ~ The Great Truth Burglar
-
Kate Miller-Heidke - God's Gift to Women.
-
Monster Magnet - Space Lord
I've ate all the rest and now I gotta eat you. *shrug*
-
I can't help but think of Soul Nomad's demon ending there.
-
Dido - Thank You
-
Floyd Thursby and the Definite Article - The Thief.
-
Nightwish - For the Heart I Once Had
-
The Long Blondes - Seperated By Motorways
Ergh these CDs cannot arrive soon enough, sick of listening to them on You Tube.
-
The Long Blondes - Once and Never Again.
-
The Long Blondes - Once and Never Again.
HINT HINT.
-
Fine, someone else will post. Happy?
Alestorm: Keelhauled
I just find it kind of hilarious that this band exists. Pirate metal.
-
That wasn't the hint.
Angus & Julia Stone - Silver Coin.
-
The fact there were consecutive postings of Once and Never Again seemed self evident, though. Probably that was the joke. If I have ruined a joke then I guess my work for today is done.
New Order: True Faith
-
Ed Alleyne Johnson - Concrete Eden.
It is just a fun band with a cool song. More posting is good.
-
Bon Jovi - Blaze Of Glory
-
of Montreal - Wraith Pinned To The Mist And Other Games
-
Mumford and Sons - Little Lion Man
Pretty amusing.
-
Electric Six - My Idea of Fun.
My idea of a good time is you losing your mind
Watching all of the threads in your tapestries unwind
Ridin' the penthouse elevator,
applying the smackdown on all y'all haters
and leave you wondering how life could ever be so unkind~
-
Glenn Tipton- Paint it Black
Edit:
Susan Boyle- Wild Horses
Everyone covers the Stones better than the Stones themselves.
-
I told you Kill was a fun album Ciato.
Street Sweeper Social Club - Fight! Smash! Win!
-
Indeed. Not as good as Flashy though.
-
The Long Blondes - Once and Never Again.
Sigh, CDs still not in yet. Hope it comes before I fly out, otherwise I will have to download them to listen to them.
-
Dave Matthews Band - When the World Ends
Been on a DMB kick lately. I listened to their CDs fairly exclusively when I was RPing or at my computer when I was 14-15, so the songs all have pretty vivid associations. Maybe I'm feeling nostalgic.
-
Nostalgia is totally lame LD but not as lame as Dave Matthews Band.
David Bowie - Man Who Sold the World.
-
Electric Six - Electric Demons in Love
Old but good.
-
Trent Summar and the New Row Mob - It Never Rains in Southern California
-
Florence and the Machine - Heavy in Your Arms
-
Queen - March of the Black Queen
<3
-
Ugly Kid Joe - Neighbor
I had forgot this existed and was actually pretty good. Stuff off this album randomly gives off Alice Cooper vibes, which is impressive from a group I remembered as being kind of el cheapo Grunge other than their cover of Cat's in the Cradle.
-
David Garrett - Smooth Criminal
An instrumental violin version of Smooth Criminal. This is every bit as awesome as it sounds.
-
Ugly Kid Joe - Goddamn Devil.
-
Fleetwood mac- Go your own way
-
Franz Ferdinand - Jacqueline.
-
Billy Joel - Vienna
My fav Billy Joel song.
-
Los Campesinos! - Straight In At 101.
It was going to happen inevitably.
-
Apocalpytica with Gavin Rossdale- End of me
It's okay. It's easier the the vocal tracks on the last apoc CD.
-
Van Halen - Sunday Afternoon in the Park
-
Owl City - Hot Air Balloon
This is pretty good stuff. Sorta upbeat/mellow electro-pop.
-
I will have to pick up a copy when I get there. I will give you some Knife there if you are getting a bit into more modern electro pop Gate.
-
I've always liked techno/electronic stuff(or at least most of what I've heard of it. Some stuff isn't quite my speed, but that's true of any genre), I just don't talk about it much.
But sure, I'm generally willing to listen to anything people throw at me~
Oh, and in case anyone wants to sample some Owl City: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psuRGfAaju4
That's Fireflies, which is the band's popular hit song.
-
The Knife - Pass This On.
-
Foreigner - Feels Like The First Time
-
The Long Blondes - Once and Never Again.
-
George Thorogood - One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer
-
Don Henley- The Garden of Allah
And I said, "Gentleman... and I use that word loosely...
I will testify for you
I'm a gun for hire, I'm a saint, I'm a liar
Because there are no facts, there is no truth
Just data to be manipulated
I can get you any result you like... what's it worth to ya?
Because there is no wrong, there is no right
And I sleep very well at night
No shame, no solution
No remorse, no retribution"
-
Arcade Fire - Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)
Suburbs is an all right album I guess. This song's cool. It's no Funeral though.
-
Neon Bible > others. Not sure where I stand on Funeral > Suburbs, though. Need to listen to the latter more. Ready to Start/Suburban War/We Used to Wait seem like the highlights.
The Cult: Edie (Ciao Baby)
Huh. Never actually knew what this song was about 'til today. Just that it rocked.
-
Arcade Fire - Ready to Start
I like Neon Bible, and Antichrist Television Blues and Intervention are two of my favorite AF songs, but on average I don't like the songs on it nearly as much as I like the songs on Funeral. Suburbs has some really good tracks (Ready to Start, Sprawl II) and a lot of Meh in it. It all starts to sound the same around the middle of it, too. Which is something you can say about every Arcade Fire album, to an extent, I guess. I dunno. I'll have to listen to it on repeat all day a little bit longer.
-
So you are listening to their new album there Zenny?
Bleed the Sky - Minion.
-
Electric Six - Gay Bar Part 2
-
Nirvana - Come As You Are.
-
Rogue Galaxy- The Galaxy Public Corporation
Mogui was the name of the band you were playing in the morning at DLC, Gref? The one who I asked about.
-
Mogwai?
-
Yep, thanks.
Mogwai- May nothing but happiness come
The theme of DLC5 to me.
-
Shale continues to prove to have better taste than you all.
Mogwai - I Love You, I'm Going To Blow Up Your School.
-
Natalie Merchant - Nursery Rhyme of Innocence and Experience
I suspect I'm in for a ride here.
-
So you are listening to their new album there Zenny?
Yep.
Shale continues to prove to have better taste than you all.
Nope.
Arcade Fire - City with no Children
-
Parliament - Tear The Roof Off The Sucker.
-
Butch Walker and the Let's Go Out Tonites- When the Canyons Ruled the City
I'm pretty sure they just call it "Canyons."
-
Electric Six - I Belong in a Factory.
-
Electric Six - Simulated Love
I wanna show you my suction but I dunno where it goes~
My latest E6 addiction.
-
Adam Warrock and Ruckus Roboticus - Ira Glass.
-
Metric - Black Sheep.
-
Devin Townsend Project - Disruptr
-
I've been on a three month Incubus and Muse musical adventure. I just never want to get off.
Anna Molly and Knights of Cydonia to name a couple of the many songs I cant get enough of.
-
Metric - Combat Child.
Yep their other albums are good as well.
-
Billy Joel - Vienna
-
Metric - Succexy.
-
Metric - Black Sheep
Definately love this band, and this song in particular. They really picked a good one for the movie.
-
Speaking of which...
We Are Sex Bob-Omb, by Sex Bob-Omb as played by Beck.
-
What genre is Metric?
Michael Jackson - Billie Jean
-
It is an indie group doing New Wave kind of things. They are pretty cool. Find some on youtube and check it out if you want.
Augie March - The Vineyard.
-
I can't check Youtube right now, but I will when I get home~
-
I can hook you up with a track somehow else if you prefer.
The Dillinger Escape Plan - Sunshine The Werewolf.
-
Mogwai- You don't know Jesus
-
Arcade Fire - We Used to Wait
I swear I've listened to other CDs since this one came out. It's just that the new Flaming Lips is kind of terribad, and I'm not currently listening to Broken Social Scene.
...
Wait, tricked.
Hipster OrchestraBroken Social Scene - Chase Scene (http://"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=heFGsCBI9to")
-
Ben Folds Five - Alice Childress
-
Metric - Succexy
This ain't changing my perception of music like the Talking Heads and Cocteau Twins did, but it sure is a -ton of fun-. This is New Wave modernized for the 2000s. Alternatively, this band is what Husky Rescue wished it was, but never really pulled off.
-
Devin Townsend Project- Trainfire. Goooood stuff.
-
Metric - Stadium Love
-
Cocteau Twins - Blue Bell Knoll
The sound of death amidst heaven. This is the only way I can describe this song.
-
Mumford & sons - Sigh No More.
-
Korn - Got The Life.
Man I know people tend to come back to some of the stuff they listen to in High school and kind of eye roll, I know I have certainly done so. Korn in general are very hit and miss, but if you were born in the mid 80s and didn't get totally sucked in by this particular song then I have no idea what to do with you. It is still rocks pretty stupidly hard.
Coincidentally their newest album is a gigantic pile of shit.
-
I always thought Korn was one of the worst bands I ever heard, but I was born before the mid-eighties so I guess I get a pass here.
-
You also trend towards liking clean clear music, which Nu Metal crap most definitely isn't and you would be old enough to know better than a high school student when they came out. But seriously? Go check that specific song out again, the drum line and guitar under they layers of uh I THINK it is a loop pedal effect is pretty damned catchy.
Sarah Blasko - Amazing Things.
So yeah I am way late on the train of What the Sea Wants, The Sea Will Have, but I picked up her new album before I flew over to the US and it was good and stuff. So much to belated Sarah Blasko hype goes here. Now if only I had been embracing folk so wholely back in 2006 when it came out. That was after I had fallen in love with Tom Waits, so I really should have got my head out of my arse and just enjoyed this when it was new and playing on Triple J all the time.
-
Ehhh, maybe once this album's done with.
Apocalyptica: Broken Pieces
Instrumental tracks continue to be > vocal tracks. The band just sounds like they're having more fun when they don't have to stick to pop song format (singer takes melody and everyone else plays chords) and play the background role.
-
That is pretty much spot on assessment of Apocalyptica there. What do you think of their Sepultura covers? Also I am glad they have the occasional vocal track, it breaks up a session of listening to them nicely and some of their guest vocalists are good times. Also introduced me to Guano Apes which is ++good.
Sarah Blasko - Always on This Line
-
Apoc's had some damn good vocal tracks (Hope, I don't care, Anything but love) but it is a mixed bag. Ruska is their best song so I can't argue too much, though.
Devin Townsend- The Coast
Come to the coast, come to the coast, come to the coast
it will find you...
-
The Pipettes - Your Kisses Are Wasted on Me.
-
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb
-
Metric - Collect Call.
-
The Briggs- Come All You Mad Men.
Pandora found me something I like. Huh.
-
Sara Bareilles - Uncharted
So, her new album is out. I love the instrumentation she uses in it. King of Anything is still my favourite, but...this is good. Very good. Need to listen to the rest of the album, but I love what she does. Her vocal ability is awesome, and her musical talent in general is fantastic. Very impressed with this.
-
Some music news to break Gref, along with anyone else with any respectable taste in music: http://www.dreamtheater.net/ - Mike Portnoy quits Dream Theater. Hopefully, this'll mean some new and awesome stuff from him, but I can't help but wonder what this means for the rest of the band - they're good, sure, but nowhere near as much without Portnoy.
-
I feel like DT has gone downhill in the last while and maybe this will change things up a bit.
-
Myung and Petrucci easilly are worth watching for other works, Rudess also is amazing. Lebrie is good but decent singers are not really something I watch. Anyways, yeah Portnoy leaving is pretty huge, one of the founding members of the band, leaves Petrucci and Myung left of the founders.
He was also pretty deeply involved with the writing of the music, but the others have easilly written enough other tracks on DT albums that are good, so musically they should still be worth following, they just have to replace an insanely good technical drummer with another.
On the other hand, might mean more hopes for LTE stuff in the future maybe please kthx?
Emiliana Torrini - Bleeder.
-
Sara Bareilles - Let the Rain
She is at her best with piano and strings. And still good with everything else too! Man, I am really liking her new CD.
-
Devin Townsend - Bend it like Bender!
This CD is way different than Ki. Not as good but still fine.
-
Sara Bareilles - King of Anything -Strings Version-
Man. So pretty. And so...effective.
-
Electric Six - Gay Bar Part 2
-
Julia Stone - Winter on the Weekend
-
Deviations Project - Les Belles
-
Leonard Cohen - Closing Time
-
Do what you want with me
Do what you want with me

The Bloody Beetroots Shitdisco 72 Virgins remix.
-
The Dillinger Escape Plan - I Wouldn't If You Didn't.
-
Thrice - The Artist in the Ambulance
ASDDGFDHGDFJKH I GOT THIS ALBUM <3

-
Third Eye Blind - Deep Inside of You
-
Natalie Merchant - Adventures of Isabell
-
MGMT - Someone's Missing.
-
White Stripes - A Martyr for My Love for You
-
David Bowie - New York's In Love
-
Kristin Chenoweth - If (You Hadn't But You Did)
-
Muse- Undisclosed desires
-
Thrice - T&C
So, now that I've started getting hold of Thrice albums, this is next on my list. Identity Crisis is an amazing album and somehow manages to be generic yet awesome. (Now watch as I try to defend kinda average music that I love for no good reason.)
-
Metric - Satellite Mind
When I'm bored, I send vibrations in your direction with the satellite mind.
-
Electric Six - Pink Flamingos
-
The Dillinger Escape Plan - Variations On A Cocktail Dress.
Each CD continues to provide awesome fun metal full of sharp stoccato rhythms, syncopation and even some use of break beats. Difficult but rewarding music and something I need to go for a spin through Audiosurf with.
-
Electric Six - Steal Your Bones.
You are a friend of mine and when you die I am gonna steal your bones.
-
The Long Blondes - In The Company Of Women
Dear god, this band is -amazing-. It's a tragedy that they had to break up so early in their career.
-
The Long Blondes - Century
I suspect I'll end up liking Couples more than Somebody To Drive You Home - somehow. Nevertheless, both are excellent.
-
Metric - Ending Start.
-
Electric Six - A Love Song for Myself
-
Crash and the Boys - We Hate You Please Die.
-
Electric Six - Clusterfuck!
Awesome stuff.
-
David Bowie - The Voyeur of Utter Destruction (As Beauty).
-
Devin Townsend- The Coast
Rest of the CD was solid, but this is the winning track from Ki.
-
Electric Six - Clusterfuck!
-
Butch Walker & The Let's-Go-Out-Tonites: Bethamphetamine (Pretty Pretty).
-
Still listening to Clusterfuck! I think this is my favorite Zodiac song.
-
Electric Six - She's White.

-
Pet Shop Boys - All Over the World
-
Kate Miller-Heidke - Can't Shake It.
-
Electric Six - Countdown to the Countdown
-
Rouge Galaxy OST- Galaxy Public corporation
-
What the fuck is wrong with you.
Electric Six - Talking Turkey.
-
Talamak ~ Toro Y Moi.
-
Pain of Salvation - Ending Theme.
I really like this song, actually.
But I saw so much of me in you... the me I've missed, the young and free in you...
-
They toured with Dream Theater down here at the start of the year, weren't bad. Had fun with them mostly because they seemed to just be really happy to be touring and playing, really got into the performance with gusto even though no one knew their stuff.
Bjork - Hyper-Ballad
-
I've been listening to them for years, but for whatever reason this song has hit me in the right place again.
-
Fair enough.
Bjork - Frosti
-
Sinead O'Connor - Nothing Compares to You
-
Kid Rock - My Oedipus Complex.
-
Kid Rock!?
Vampire Weekend - Mansard Roof
-
This song is too Daddy-issuelicious for me not to like it. >_>
-
Los Campesinos! - Straight In At 101.
-
The Postal Service - Such Great Heights
-
Franz Ferdinand - Jacqueline
-
Electric Six - Rubberband Man
-
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - O'Malley's Bar.
I need to remember to listen to this when I am getting to the end of Fallout and am blasting away at camps of dudes.
-
Edwin McCain - Promise of You
All this time I've been fighting my own private war
And all this time you're the peace I've searched for~
-
Halestorm- Familiar taste of poison
-
Nine Inch Nails - Hurt
-
Butch Walker - The Weight of Her
Sycamore Meadows is a good album.
-
Sarah Blasko - At Your Best.
-
Pigeon Detectives - You Don't Need It.
-
Filter & Crystal Method - Trip Like I do
-
Lady of the Sunshine - Dead Man's Train.
-
Lady of the Sunshine - Big Jet Plane.

THIS!!!!!!!!!!!
This band just jumped into my all time favorites.
-
Nice generic Dragon Force knock off.
David Bowie - The Loneliest Guy.
-

THIS!!!!!!!!!!!
This band just jumped into my all time favorites.
Hm. Still prefer the Red Wings, myself. Possibly because they've done a huge variety of games songs and not just FF ones. On that note:
The Red Wings - Objection!
-
Meh, it isn't generic, and Powerglove does more then just FF and video games for the matter, but whatever.
-
Yeah, even a quick glance at the list of YouTube links on the side of the one Scar linked shows they do plenty of non-FF stuff. I haven't listened to either (beyond Scar's link) so I'm not going to actually weigh in on any debate here, but as far as I see it, if you're going to make a comment which pretty much amounts to a "the band I like > the band you like" you should at least get your facts right!
-
That's good stuff, Scar. ^.^
-
Oh, I wasn't saying they were bad, or that they only did FF stuff! I was saying that the -gaming- stuff they did was FF, because, well, everything I saw there was. >.> I did notice they had original stuff as well, don't worry. :P
Free - All Right Now
I still maintain that this is one of the greatest songs ever made. <3
-
Big Mama Thornton- Hound Dog
Fuck Elvis. This version is so much better.
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNDjEdkc7e8
For comparison to Dragonforce in all their horribleness.
The Knife - Is It Medicine.
-
http://www.youtube.com/user/kylelandry#p/u/1/WFMgQIyU-6E
This guy is still as good as usual. Shimomura really needs to ditch her crappy piano performer and hire this guy instead.
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNDjEdkc7e8
For comparison to Dragonforce in all their horribleness.
Of course that's a bad one, it's from Ultra Beatdown. If it were Soldiers of the Wasteland, on the other hand...
-
Devin Townsend - Lady Helen
-
If the Dragonforce rip offs get linked to playing their Final Fantasy stuff then Dragonforce get linked to them plaing their Ninja stuff.
Also there is no difference between that shittiness and other shittiness they do anyway.
The Dillinger Escape Plan - 82588.
-
The Happy Hollows - High Wire.
Still good times.
-
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Oh My Lord
I definitely like how this song builds up as it goes on and his craziness and desperation grows.
-
The Silversun Pickups - Well Thought Out Twinkles.
-
Skindred - Pressure
Reggae rock/metal? I'm sold.
-
Daft Punk - Superheroes.
-
Butch Walker- "The Weight of Her."
Good song. The moral of the story to me is "Don't let other people's issue fuck with your day. Just don't give a shit."
-
David Bowie - Letter to Hermione.
Oh my. I had forgot how much impact this song has.
-
Das Racist - Rainbow in the Dark
Despite my unreasonable (?) dislike for the city of New York, Das Racist really makes me want to visit Queens so I can stalk see them.
After perusing and discovering more artists, I will soon listen to the Hood Internet's mash of TYM and CSD Dougie. I expect greatness.
-
Julia Stone - What's Wrong With Me.
-
What's Wrong With Me.
I've got a list if you want to skim over it, Gref. Kinda long for a full read.
-
That is fine. I quite like reading.
Julia Stone - This Love.
-
Angus & Julia Stone - The Beast
Guess what, I fell in love with an album opener again.
-
Angus and Julia Stone - Big Jet Plane.
-
Angus & Julia Stone - The Beast
Definitely fell in love with the opener. Good thing the rest of the album is just swell too.
-
Franz Ferdinand - Jacqueline.
-
Procul Harum: Conquistador
Still badass.
-
Franz Ferdinand- Take me out
-
Billy Joel: Captain Jack
-
Mumford and Sons - Awake My Soul
I haven't listened to an album that's far bigger than the sum of its parts since like Lost In Space from Aimee Mann. Sigh No More is definitely an example of such an album, though. Amazing emotional charge.
-
Really? There was songs in there that I could chop and change out without having even noticed or cared honestly. Good album though. Look forward to their next piece of work.
Metric - Grow Up and Blow Away.
-
Truth be told, in terms of songs, I honestly don't think much of individual parts there. You may well be right about that (and I even agree looking at it a bit closer). However, as I said, the album is more about its emotional voltage throughout whatever songs it has rather than having good individual pieces all the way. That's how it's bigger than the sum of its parts, since it -should- be smaller than it actually is objectively.
Mumford and Sons - Little Lion Man
This is one of the good individual pieces, though.
EDIT: I also have to note that Lost In Space is also bigger than Sigh No More in how it actually has no songs that are individually poor, and they all build a very cohesive whole to the work. But then, Aimee Mann and elegance.
-
Elton John: Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding
-
There is a reason Little Lion Man won the Hottest 100 this year. I disagree with people that it is the best on the album (The Cave is probably better), but yeah they have a couple of invididual songs on there.
Hole - Northern Star
-
There is a reason Little Lion Man won the Hottest 100 this year. I disagree with people that it is the best on the album (The Cave is probably better), but yeah they have a couple of invididual songs on there.
Hole - Northern Star
The Cave? The Cave is among the best in the album, I agree. Not sure which is better between Little Lion Man and The Cave, though. Speaking of which.
Mumford and Sons - The Cave
-
Metric - Satellite Mind
-
Elvis Costello & Burt Bacharach - In The Darkest Place
...
...
............................................
Holy FUCK this is gorgeous.
-
Kim Carnes - Bette Davis Eyes
Jenna's absolute most favoritist song ever.
-
Sonata Arctica: Paid in Full
-
Northern Kings: We Don't Need Another Hero
A Scandinavian power metal supergroup covering the theme song to a Mad Max movie? Cheese level = saturation point.
-
Electric Six - Face Cuts
-
Cocteau Twins - Violaine
Hm. Milk and Kisses is probably a solid introductory to Cocteau Twins if you want to slowly get into them, but Heaven or Las Vegas does that better. The first three songs in the album still could do pretty well in any non-Victorialand post-Treasure album of theirs before Four-Calendar Café.
-
I am a new fan of the Decemberists.
-
Hipster!
Florence+the Machine - Hurricane Drunk
-
The Long Blondes - Heaven Help the New Girl.
-
Beautiful Small Machines - Robots In Love
-
Yngwie Malmsteen: Trilogy Suite Op. 5
-
Tom Waits - I Hope That I Don't Fall In Love With You.
-
Joe Satriani: Z.Z.'s Song
-
Cocteau Twins - Half-Gifts
-
Mumford & Sons - Little Lion Man
This is one of the five individual songs that truly impress me in Sigh No More (the other ones being "The Cave", "Winter Winds", "I Gave You All" and "Dust Bowl").
-
The Mollys - Yer Drunk Again/Polka Del Diablo
Really energetic and catchy. With lyrics like "if first you don't succeed in life you probly never will". The dissonance entertains me.
