Created. League password is Crono. I chose offline draft, so a draft can be done via board topic. That sound fine to everyone?

I'll just manually email invites, since I am still learning this. Sent one to Scar and Trips. What's everyone else's email?

EDIT: Ultradude, just sent an invite to your email account.

Everyone but UD's signed up, and he can sign in whenever.

For the draft: 10 rounds (8 normal+2 bench). I'll random roll out the order of the first round, then reverse the draft order for each round after that.  *Rolls out*

1. Ultradude 2. Super 3. Monkey 4. Yakumo 5. Shale 6. AAA 7. Scar 8. Ciato

Is what I came up with. Blame Hatbot. Round two would go from Ciato to UD, round three from Ciato to UD etc.

Postions: QB, WR (3x), RB (2x), TE (1x), kicker (1x), defense (1x). If you want to ditch kicker or anything like that, just say so.

Yep. 8 person league has the advantage that everyone should have a pretty damn good team.

Ultradude, start whenever you're ready if no one has an objection.

I think we're full for now, though we can always use someone to pop in and grab a team when/if something happens.

Edit: oh right. We need even teams in this league, so if you can find a 10th that'd work. Shouldn't spread teams too far.

Knee injuries can fuck up a QB's foot mechanics in fairness. That's usually what takes them so long ot come back from ACL tears. Brady got lucky and had his on week 1, so he should be good to go.

Not as far as I know, Scar? I haven't looked at settings too closely. But it just means Witten will get far more looks and chances to score than Fasano.

I'll look at settings as soon as I'm done putting the draft in (I'm 3 out of 8 right now). They can be adjusted however people want.
Title: Re: Fantasy football: Round 15 Pick 8- Ciato finishes up.

Yeah, the scoring's not PPR, just more targets generally means more yards and touchdowns.

Witten and Fasano's numbers last year are similar enough where I don't care. Less yards more Tds, it evened out give or take a few points. Not enough for me to care though. Plus Fasano was a number 2 TE and showed promise being the featured player....plus Pennington doesn't have a rocket so I feel he might show a young TE more lovin now that the two of them have some chemistry.

Plus, if he is a bust there's loads of Tight Ends readily available for me to pick up any time I choose. TE was not a important piece of this well trained machine anyways.
Title: Re: Fantasy football: Round 15 Pick 8- Ciato finishes up.
Post by: superaielman on July 26, 2009, 10:04:30 PM
Fasano was functionally the 1. David Martin is a bad joke as starting TE (I've been there, he's a former Packer.)

Witten should get enough looks with TO gone to make the high pick worth it. I reached on him and the Steelers defense, but they were also clearely the best options for the positions.
Title: Re: Fantasy football: Round 15 Pick 8- Ciato finishes up.
Post by: Shale on July 26, 2009, 11:22:36 PM
Oh, speaking of league rules, is there any restriction on which players you're allowed to trade? I know some systems prevent you from cutting a first-round pick, and if the picks weren't entered in order I can see that causing problems, of the "what do you mean I can't cut my backup TE" variety.

Title: Re: Fantasy football: Round 15 Pick 8- Ciato finishes up.
Post by: Yakumo on August 15, 2009, 05:35:44 AM
Why do you want posts in here?  They're on the league page too.  I guess if non-participants care it matters?

Anyway, on the fluke retirement front(sorta), cut Clayton a while ago for Derrick Mason when he decided to come back.  And if Crabtree doesn't get his head out of his ass soon I'll have to fix that problem too.  *sigh*

Oh, and a quick note to Trips, Monkey, and Ciato, your starting lineups have to be set manually.  You would probably see it on your own eventually but just in case figured I'd mention it.

since I never check the league. <_<

I'd cut bait on Crabtree. He's not going to be a fantasy factor this season. Every report I've read has him holding out till labor day.

Edit: Cut Trent Edwards for Kevin Walter. The Bills offensive line looks really awful. I dont' think Edwards is going to last long this season.

Title: Re: Fantasy football: Why did I count on Donovan "ow" McNabb to stay healthy?
Post by: Shale on September 16, 2009, 01:34:37 AM
This is how I think it works, from reading the rather poorly-written Yahoo help file (which talks about it in the context of cutting players): When you make a waiver claim, you then wait two days. If nobody with a higher waiver number than you has claimed that player at the end of two days, he's yours. When you're awarded the player, you're also bumped to the bottom of the list for waiver claims.

Two questions.  How did I manage to pick an entire starting lineup that got outscored by Drew Brees, and how did Cutler count for positive points at all for that game, let alone more than anyone on my team besides Brees? <_<
Title: Re: Fantasy football: Why did I count on Donovan "ow" McNabb to stay healthy?

Interceptions are only -1. His TD and INT offsets each other there, and he threw for a fair chunk of yardage.

I'm not asking seriously, I'm bitching like the sad loser I am. :P  Though seriously, only -1 for an INT?  That's pretty soft.  Eh.  My whole team can't STAY that bad, right?  ...right?
Title: Re: Fantasy football: Why did I count on Donovan "ow" McNabb to stay healthy?
Post by: superaielman on September 16, 2009, 02:50:24 AM
If we run this next year, I'm going to want to tinker with the scoring some. Dislike how standard scoring overinflates TDs, though PPR helps with that.  -2 for INTs is cool as well.

Olsen will have better games. The Packers set Charles Woodson on him most of the time last week, and he won't be up against an all pro level CB every week.  Beyond that, welp. Derrick Ward is available for trade!

One idea I was bouncing around (For starting next week) is making the WR3 spot a flex play for WR/TE/RBs. People have any opinion on that? Donno how much people would object to a midseason change in the format, but it's at least a way to make things more flexible. No idea how it'd impact my own team.

I'm more annoyed by benching Ray Rice. Oh well. Edit: I still whipped Yakko's butt, so it's all good.

Ooooooooh Scar. Second highest scorer and you're going to lose by 50~ points. Nice work.

Thanks for having my back, Texans.  Shale probably has the strongest overall roster at this point, so I'm glad I got my two wins over him.

Now to just deal with a certain cruel ogress who stole Aaron Rodgers!

Shale also seems to have horrible luck with picking the right players to actually play, given that 3-5 record. <_<

It's more that I (a) make terrible choices to replace people on bye weeks and (b) hate the Texans. This extends to both this week's shenanigans (Slaton and Daniels out in the first quarter? Fuck you!) and Slaton's early-season crapfest.

You drafted Brian Westbrook with the first overall pick. That is begging for it.

*Shakes fist at farmgirl* I'll get you yet! I hope. My WRs have criminally under performed, but I've got two of the best fantasy RBs in the league right now, plus Pierre Thomas. If Johnson and Jennings can play up to potential, I should be okay.

I didn't even play him.

I have tons of running backs! Lots of good ones! Except this week.

Marshawn Lynch's value is near nil because the Bills have absolutely no offense to speak of, Westbrook I wouldn't have touched before the 4th with his injury history, Brown's a good pickup and Bradshaw's not even his starting RB. It's a decent group but could be better.

Your Wrs have done better at a glance.

This is true, though I'm just happy with Lynch hitting double digits.

I'm adding another as well ._.

I don't get my 2-6 record at all!

I mean three of my players are ton ten in fantasy points....gah!

So instead of bitch about that, I am just turning my team into a Hurricane squad.

...

With Brady as my QB!

~

In other league news!

I am in four leagues.

I have two teams that are 2-6 and my best team is 6-2 while the other team is managing a 4-3 record.

Weeeeeeeeeeeee

You think that's bad?  I need 36 points from Baltimore's defense.

Also I told you I should have started Forte over Benson.  This'll teach me to listen to four people shouting me down instead of my gut. <_<  If I'd done that I'd only need 22 points from the defense!

I stand by the bench Forte advice. That was some fluke luck there. The Bears can't run block worth a damn and two of those checkdowns were freak luck that they blew up like that. But yeah, happens. At least Sydney Rice has been good!

Considering the weirdness of the timing (Thursday night game+Ronnie brown going on IR yesterday), I'm considering force dropping Brown from UD's lineup for the week. Any objections to that? Edit: Trips had none, so I'm dropping Brown from UD's lineup.
