DATE: JULY 30th - AUGUST 2nd
Making a new topic since, well, things have changed so might as well do this for convenience!
Anyway, as many of you know, plans have changed, and DLCon4 is going to be in New Jersey. Yes, we just had a Minimeet here. Yes, we held DLCon1 here, but due to some issues that came up unexpectedly, we can't hold it in Pittsburgh, and well, for a number of reasons, I was chosen! No, don't know why I volunteered.
My house will be the base of the Con, as opposed to Soppy's like it usually is. This is in Wayne, NJ, which is in the north if you care (Cause Jersey is such a huge state, area wise *rolls eyes*) In general, we will be doing stuff in the basement, which people who were at Minimeet can attest to is big enough for something like this and generally perfectly suited (also has Air Hockey, Ping Pong, and Pool) to hold a lot of people.
Now, first off, where will people be staying? My house can hold a few people, obviously, but I want that to be for only people with actually good reasons, such like they're flying overseas, or some financial issue, etc. Again, this is mostly a LAST RESORT and only for a few people (say, 4 people tops.) Otherwise, Hotels is probably the place where people will be sleeping!
There is a Hotel about a Mile from my house. Its walking distance, and the walk isn't too strenuous. Up Hill from my house, but downhill the entire way to my house, though does go parallel to a relatively busy road; or of course you could just drive back and forth, but shh!
The Hotel in question is this one:
La Quinta Inn & Suites Wayne
1850 Highway/Route 23 North
Wayne, NJ 07470
Standard w/1 Bed $85.00 USD 85.00 USD
Accessible w/1 Bed $85.00 USD 85.00 USD
Standard w/2 Beds $85.00 USD 85.00 USD
Accessible Deluxe w/1 Bed $85.00 USD 85.00 USD
King Room w/Microwave-Fridge $90.00 USD 90.00 USD
4 people per room makes this about 25$/night. That's $100 for 4 nights total. Works out about the same as DL Con 2.
(The note at the bottom is courtesy of OK)
For the record, Yakko slept in this very Hotel at DLC1...and I think Alex/CK eventually invaded as well, and they're all still alive, so I guess that's a good sign! Its under new management since then IIRC, so I dunno what that means (believe it use to be called Wesley Inn)
For convenience, this Hotel is also right next to a bank, so if you need an ATM for whatever reason, there's one available right there. Its also right near a shopping center with a Kohl's, Pizza Place and Chinese Restaurant, I believe, so there places to eat and shop for arbitrary things you'll probably not care about ever, making that Kohl's mention completely useless!
As far as Travelling goes...
The most convenient means of getting to Jersey via the Air would be to Newark International Airport. This is about 45 minutes from my house, but has the upside of not involving going into to New York. The other Airports that are acceptable (though I would prefer Newark...even if Super would advise against it <_<) would be JFK and La Guardia (Don't know their exact names, but they're both in New York.) From here, you can probably take a bus from Port Authority to one of the Bus Stops in my general vicinity. The two big ones are the Park and Ride near the Train Station (I'll look up the actual name of that in the future, don't worry! This is just labelling it so I remember it; the needed info will be known when the time comes) and the Stop at Willowbrook Mall.
That Bus thing is important for Greyhound People too, if there are any of those. The closest Greyhound station I think is in fact in Port Authority, so its probably just easier taking a bus from there to Wayne. I'll try and help you figure out which Bus to go on to get Wayne, of course. Note that I WILL drive in and get you in worst case scenario, but a bus might just be easier in general.
(if you come into Newark, you can ignore all that bus ****. Getting to Newark International is a lot easier, so me picking you up is not such a hard thing and what not.)
Anyway, here are the RECONFIRMS from the previous topic! Note the wording; if you confirmed for DLCon Pittsburgh but haven't said anything since the change, you WILL NOT BE COUNTED! Also, please post here if you're reconfirming and not on the list (or alternatively, confirming to come as a change or something...basically, just tell me if you're coming, if you're not, or if you're a maybe in this topic!)
The Con will happen on July 30th and lasts until August 2th or so; that's the current plan. It should last 4 days (3 nights), but can be extended a day in each direction depending on what's convenient for people to come and such.
If there's a better date for most people, please speak up! Note that it should be BEFORE Mid August; my parents stated they want to be in the general vicinity when the Con happens and they're going on vacation sometime mid august, so yeah; if the date changes, its likely earlier. But for now, 30st of July -> August 2nd time period.
EDIT: Cause people have started buying tickets, this date *IS* Final.

NOTE: Anyone who said "Planning on coming" and such I put in "Probably"; it sounds like you aren't quite certain but definitely intend to come and such, so yeah.
Also, people who live in this area, if you can help with transportation, that'd be appreciated. Ditto to people driving up. By this I mean either actually picking people up along the way to my house, helping people figure out the Bus system (applies mostly to NYC people here, who may actually have experience with the darn thing), etc. Whatever you can contribute would be nice!
So that's all I have to say for now! As usual, important stuff to be brought up here! Note that its not worth trying to figure out exactly what we're doing quite yet, since we need to actually figure out whose going, how people are getting here, etc. I'll make a separate topic in due time for actual events to plan! This is for all the technical, yet important stuff.
-
Put me under maybe
-
I think I asked this before but whatever: Is anyone from the West Coast planning on, for some blood clot in the brain or other malfunction, planning on driving up to the con? If so, I'll be glad to pay for gas, drive, provide rip snorting humour, and piss and moan on command in exchange for a ride. Unless you're [insert your username here] in which case I hate you get hung.
Also considering a flight up to Jersey will probably cost a bit more than driving up there if split between a few people this will increase my chances of showing up. I'm reluctant to say this because some forces (re: twats) might not want me to make the con 500% more awesome, but that's a gamble I'm willing to stick my dick in.
-
Put me down for probably, as I can't be 100% sure what I'll be doing then. July 31 is my last day of class, so likely I won't be there for 100% of the festivities, but close enough.
-
If it's after the Bar, I'll swing by at least. Dunno if I'll attend all four days.
-
I really want to come.
A flight from Japan to New Jersey is already pretty expensive. And if I come back to the States, I'm pretty much obligated to see my immediate family down in Florida while I'm there (after the con), so I'm already looking at some pretty hefty travel expenses. The extra $100 for a hotel doesn't sound fun, and neither does a bus ride (for all that it's probably not too expensive, at least).
My coming also hinges on whether or not I can get a large enough chunk of time off to both attend the con AND visit my family.
Really, it would be more economical to just not go... but god dammit I already bought a bunch of game paraphernalia souveniers for you losers and they're cluttering up my house! Guess I'll have to come.

You could just mail them out and continue to not meet up with people like the antisocial [genitalia] you are.
-
Perhaps, but with shipping costs the way they are, it's arguably less expensive to bring them in a suitcase rather than trying to ship them by mail. Additionally, I get the bonus of having travelled. Even if it means I'll have to suffer for my anti-social tendencies by being around -people- (well, if Zenny counts as people, that is) ... >.>;;

You and the other overseas fliers would get first dibs at spending the night at Meep's house at least.
-
Lucky them.
-
Being emo?
-
I'm going to Meeple's house OH MY GOD!
-
I guess put me down under maybe.
I'm kind of in the same boat as Zenny, prefer it if someone driving could give me a ride (I live in Illinois, so I think it's on the way for people west of me?), that'd be great. I'd be willing to chip in for gas and whatever else, of course. Can't offer to drive unless you want the car wrecked and/or yourselves all dead. But yeah.
If that's not possible I'll look at some other options.
-
Why yes, I'll be going actually.
-
Goddammit, now I have to actually think about going again
-
Don't think I'm going myself. The dollar fluctuation is hitting the country pretty hard, and I'm in a bit of a money pinch as is. Oh well.
-
Oh, forgot to mention this, but I think its worth noting...
I have 2 dogs. So if there are allergies or some such, and this will be a problem, it'd be good to know this now, so we can discuss how to deal with it.
-
I will probably be coming to this.
-
Mild allergies. Nothing that will be an issue unless I sleep there two nights in a row for some unfathomable reason.
-
No allergies, but one of your dogs might get raped.
Fair warning.
-
I'm running the music quiz for Meeple this year. It'll be 55 normal questions and 10 bonus. Feel free to PM me via the board with one track you'd like to see in. Same as last year's, pretty much. I'm working on prizes right now.
Also: For our overseas congoers (CT/Tonfa off the top of my head), I'll be starting up a con fund/helping with planning to defray costs. If you want to chip in a bit to help with that, contact me via IM/board PM. Etc etc, the usual there.
-
Can't say for sure right now, whether I'll go or not, but highly likely.
-
Stick me in the maybe column. At least this year the anime con is before August, so I don't need to worry about a conflict there. It's just a matter of money where I'll be employed at the time.
By the by, maybe we should stick the tentative dates for this con in the first post so that those of us who need to plan can do so better?
-
I can go under maybe pending scholarship issues~
-
http://money.cnn.com/2008/12/18/news/companies/airfares_jetfuel/index.htm Relevant especially for those flying overseas. I'll be keeping an eye on it (As it could really effect things big time). Contentinal can still go die however.
-
Just noting here, it appears my uncle from DLC3[Gate knows who I'm talking about] is offering to help pay for parts of the con.
Even if I struggle to get a job in the next few months I'm pretty much locked >_>;
-
Your uncle is awesome, man.
-
Yes, yes he is.
-
Next con should be in Florida.
You know, the state of champions and bikinis!
>_>;
-
Florida is too warm.
At least the Orlando area is
-
So. (sort of) Unexpected college-related issues mean I might have less money than I thought this summer. Now comes down to how good a summer job I get whether or not I have enough spending money to make it, and still need transportation, just in the opposite direction now >_<
So, "maybe" column. Sadly.
-
*wishes she could go, too*
*envious glares to Gate*
-
Send the sprog to Mars for the week.
-
Do you KNOW the cost of sending an unaccompanied minor cross-galaxy?! I could MOVE to NJ for less. *grin*
-
<_< Yeah, I'm betting bringing him wouldn't work either.
-
There aren't enough large people/objects to just have people draw straws and sit on him?
-
I can send you the supplies to keep him sedated for that time period. No pain, no memory of it.
-
He likes Pokemon, right? That should qualify him enough at his age to be allowed to come along, don't you think?
Unless you're just worried at the idea of Meeple having a Pokeminion?
-
We already call him Mini-Meeple. There's no reason to subject him to the orginal and pass the point of no return. hehe.
Give him another couple of years and maybe. Right now, WAY too young to be hanging out with you freaks. ;) The mother in me knows better.
-

While I realize that this is something of a joke and not targeted specifically at me, the part of me that is a schoolteacher is a little hurt at the idea of a mother telling me that I shouldn't be around her kid...
Still, it's a shame that you can't come, QR. Hopefully you can make the next DLcon!

<FamilyGuy> Trust me, I'm a doctor</FamilyGuy>
-
Hmmmm
July 31st huh?
That might be something I can possibly do now.
One of my friends just invited me to go fly with him back to Philly for his best friends wedding in Jersey. The date he mentioned was sometime in July.
Not saying the dates will coincide, but....who knows!
-
I'll let you know for certain whether I am coming (likely), and if I'll be driving or not (50/50) come March 19th.
-
I really am going to try hard to arrange a way to be here.
-
Strongly considering heading there with Super.
-
Man, I'd strongly reconsider travelling ANYWHERE with Super. <_<
-
Said the man who picked me up at an airport and drove me 70 miles to his apartment. Nothing went wrong besides me getting sick.
Edit:
Looks like four spots for international guests. CT/Tonfa are confirmed, Nitori's a probable. My goal for the internationals is to avoid them having to pay for food/room, but we'll see there. Going to start PMing people this month about that.
-
Hey, I also planned more or less that entire trip. Your travel doesn't go bad until you start meddling in the details.
-
We already call him Mini-Meeple. There's no reason to subject him to the orginal and pass the point of no return. hehe.

You've willingly exposed him to me and Laggy, and we got along fine. Then again, I can't remember the last time I didn't get along well with someone under the age of 12; come to think of it, I strongly suspect he's more comfortable around adults than I am....
...Where was I? Oh, yeah: Niu. I can totally understand why you wouldn't want someone of that age to hear lines like "gaming takes priority over socialization!" >_>
-
Of all the things Niu says that I wouldn't want a small child to hear, that's pretty much at the bottom of the list.
-
And that, my good men, is why Niu is not safe for childhood.
-
Of all the things Niu says that I wouldn't want a small child to hear, that's pretty much at the bottom of the list.
I don't know--I mean, I'm kinda assuming Kier doesn't know the definition of words like "shota-bait", and Niu talks fast enough with enough technical SRW jargon that anyone trying to listen to him tends to be figuring out the next sentence before they can worry about not understanding something from the previous sentence.
-
Honestly, Niu's pretty easy to ignore in real life. It's not that he says anything less than he would online, it's just that he's quiet enough in real life that background noise can drown him out.
Oh! Yeah. Well, assuming nothing goes horribly, horribly wrong in the months between now and then, I'm likely going to make it. Hooray jobs. Not Steve Jobs, that guy is a dick. But Jobs. Jobs O'Houllihan, the groundskeeper at the cemetery. What an awesome guy it takes, to let someone just rob graves without the police getting called. I've made $500 in the black market alone!
...
What was I saying? Oh, yeah. Grave robbing. You'd be amazed what valuables people just bury themselves with. Backless tuxedos are a pricey item.
EDIT: ...Mm. You might want to keep the children away from me, too. Not because of corruption or anything like that, but because I don't want any little punks growing up and horning in on my bread and butter. Get your own scheme, twerps.
-
Well, the con is now close enough that I can confirm without worry. Plane ticket is soon to be purchased and I don't see any problems with flying into Newark.
I've asked for the time off and it's pending approval, but it's far enough in advance that I don't think there's any possible reason why they would deny it to me.
-DJ
-
I am pretty sure I can go now, as long as there are no accidents.
-
Make it a probably for me.
Not sure, buisiness has been bad(hideous) lately, but bus trip is like 130$ according to Greyhound's site. If it's like that by the time I go, it's possible I could be able to come regardless of what else happens, just by scrimping money up until I go.
Also it's eight hours shorter and has less transfers. (The latter matters less, the definition of transfer by bus standards is pretty retarded, but what the hell, it's indicative!)
Oh, and dogs are one of the(sometimes feels like relatively few) things I'm not allergic to. Mold? Pollen? Dust? Hell yes. Sudden temperature changes? Yup. Dogs? Nope. Cats? Nope. Go figure.
Well, that or I'm just a lot less allergic to them, I sometimes struggle to tell...
-
Sliding down into possible territory. I've got one other travel plan that, frankly, takes precedence over this, as fun as I anticipate both will/would be. Add that to the family situation, and... yeah. Fun times. So. Hopefully I can make both work, but I'm not going to stress out if I have to bow out of this one.
-
I figure random shots of my house couldn't hurt. These are the rooms that people will generally be allowed access in, and it helps give you an idea of how big stuff is. Not perfect, though, people who have actually been here can help say how things look or something.
Also, behold me REALLY AWFUL PHOTOGRAPHY SKILLS! Note that a lot of these rooms are bigger than they look; its just I suck at taking pictures cause of lack of experience (I only now just got my first digital camera <_<.)
My room. In general, we won't be spending much time here. Just the place where my PS2 and Computer are. Yes, it looks kind of messy, and there are printers on the floor...I'm not gonna get into why. They should be gone by the con. Just thought I'd toss it up there for people curious
(and yes, that big picture is the same one super mocked me for)
The Family Room. This will be a secondary place of hanging out (primary will be the basement.) Yes, that's a large TV over. Basically, that big purple thing is a catch that goes around the room, and...yeah. The one hitch is that my parents said if they want to use this room, we pretty much have to get out, hence why its secondary...well, that and its A LOT SMALLER than the basement.
Thinking this would be a good spot to go for nongaming purposes, honestly. Well, there IS a bumper pool table here, but I don't expect that to get used much (we almost never use it <_< )
The Conservatory! This place is pretty much gonna be a pure "Hang OUt" spot. There's nothing here but chairs, and possible place for refreshments...so yeah, probably ideal if you just want to sit around and talk to others. Its located right next to the family room, mind.
Kitchen. Don't really have much else to say, its a kitchen. If you're wondering, that's a Soft Ice Cream maker on the counter...my mother tends to have an obsession with getting useless infomercial gadgets like that <_<;
Basement! This is the primary place we'll be hanging out. Its isolated enough from the rest of the house to not bother people with random things like the constant beatings of super as he tries to force us to watch XS3 Disc 2. That's a big TV over there, where the Wii is hooked up. There's enough room for at least 3 more systems in this room alone, I believe. If I clean up one of the rooms some, there might be room for another system hooked up in a side room.
First off, ignore the little girl in that picture. And if you're OK, you WILL FORGET ABOUT HER NOW OR I WILL KILL YOU (yes, that's my little sister; she happened to be playing the Wii now.)
Anyway, basement from the otherside of the room. Yeah crappy pic, primarily for the lightning. Here's what else is in the basement:
Pool Table
Air Hockey Table
2 Couches underneath those blankets (one of them folds out into a bed, so the select efw staying at my house, this is likely where one of you will be sleeping.) There's a few chairs scattered around so yeah, plenty of space to sit.
A Ping Pong Table; that's the thing that's folded up in the corner, see.
A potential Arcade Basketball system...uh, yeah, don't ask <_<;
Dog #1. This is Truffles. She sheds a little (though not as much as she use too), and well, she'll probably be afraid of you guys and thus run if you try to get close, so yeah, shouldn't worry about her or something.
(To give you an idea, she seems to only have fully warmed up to myself and a few other family members and this is after 3 years so...<_< )
My other Dog, Dookie. This one will bark at you a lot (Truffles will bark too, but she'll run at the same time), though, if you can approach him in a friendly manner (and avoid making sudden movements), he'll stop and generally be nice to you. Just be warned that sometimes, he gets a little attached to people quickly. For example, at Minimeet, he seemed to take a liking to super for some reason IIRC, so yeah, he might get a little in the way, but shouldn't be much to worry about. So long as you're friendly to him, he'll be harmless.
Neither of the dogs are particularly large, if you can't tell.
This is what the outside of my house looks like. I took a garage shot as well, realized its pointless, so won't bother posting it. In any event, for people actually driving, it'd be a good idea to reference this pic about 5 months from now and familiarize it or something <_<
NOT SHOWN: Random addition being built onto the house cause it looks like ass being, you know, incomplete.
In general, these are the rooms worth noting; most other places are either irrelevant like the hall way or generally off limits.
Also, these rooms look like a mess cause...well...they aren't exactly PREPARED for guests. They will be cleaned up, naturally, by the time the Con starts, so don't worry.
-
I'm going to start prodding people about committing to this when I get back to Scotland. Ticket prices should have stablized by then for the con (They're still more expensive at the end of July compared to the beginning of July).
Oh yeah, we probably need to start looking into room booking in the hotel before too much longer as well, so need a headcount for that.
-
There is a good chance I won't be able to make it. Probably moving out in a few months, so cost of living likely goes up and I want to do at least a little to help furnish the place.
-
I have a job. I probably will be coming, barring any unfortunate circumstance between now and when I buy the ticket. In other words, put me down as yes.
-
I am probably not going. But if I did, I would cook! If I do find out that I'm financially sound enough to go, I'll give you a heads up.
-
Would definitely be interested but haven't really been around that long. So uh, I'll get lumped into that Probably Not group and get back to you soonish? <_<
-
-sigh- I'd love to be able to go to something like this... Bu~ut I highly doubt I'll be able to - I'm hopefully gonna be in Canada around July, so ma~aybe, assuming I get it sorted out soon, I could arrange transport down & tag this on to the end of my holiday...
In which case, I'd definitely be dragging along Piggyman too. There's no way I'm going there from Canada & not forcing him to go. :D
So, that's almost certainly a no, but I'm still gonna see what I can do.
(Also, if any space is available to stay at someone's, I'd take it almost instantly. Hell, if I'm going to Canada, I don't even know where I'm staying there yet.)
-
Alright, discussed with the Hotel about Group Discounts and unless we get like 15 to 20 rooms, we're not getting one.
*HOWEVER*
They do accept AAA cards and give a discount for those. So long as we pay as one big group or something. I'll get more details on this, but it sounds like it saves us 10% if we use that.
Additionally, it sounds like they wouldn't accept a Group Rate ALONGSIDE the AAA discount, and the price comes out to about the same anyway, so yeah.
EDIT: Oh, and people really need to start confirming more solidly soon; the guy said that as more rooms get booked, prices go up or something.
-
I am completely confirmed to go now. It's only a matter of time until I get the plane tickets.
-
Andrew and I are going to be "maybe" for a long while yet. There's too much in the air to commit to plane tickets (HAH) and hotel rooms. We're willing to go in on hotel rooms if it does turn out we're going, but... yeah, won't know that for a while.
When we know, you'll know.
-
Again, you'll know at 1200 on March 18th for sure >_>
However...it's looking very, very likely I'll be coming anyway.
-
The way things are going, I just might still be in NJ by the time of DL-Con... Mrf.
-
Iron-Fisted Arrival: Tue Jul 28th, 15:50, JFK.
Merciful Departure: Mon Aug 3rd, 17:40, JFK.
Confirmed: You'd better believe it.
Now, just to wait for the tickets to arrive...
-
Ok, date posted was changed to July 30th to August 2nd; that's the Thursday to Sunday deal that most DLCs have. Naturally, flexibility with these dates exists, but bare in mind, longer you're here, more you'll have to pay for Hotel room! I can only hold so manypeople in my house before and after the Con.
-
Meeple, are all the rooms in that hotel one bed rooms like the one I had, or do they have bigger rooms too? Just trying to work out how many people will be able to share one so I can start figuring out exactly how much money I'll need to set aside.
-
Looks like there's Rooms with 2 Beds, which I gather is what most people are gonna want, so yeah, make of that as you will!
Didn't I post the prices in the first post of this topic, alongside the actual rooms? Should double check <_<
EDIT: Yes, I did, actually! Just so you don't have to go back and check yourself, I'll do it right here:
Standard w/1 Bed $95.00 USD
Accessible Deluxe w/1 Bed $95.00 USD
Standard w/2 Beds $95.00 USD
King Room w/Microwave-Fri... $100.00 USD
NOTE: With the AAA discount, these prices go down by about $10. My guess is people will want the 3rd option, but uh, yeah, I'm not most people!
-
Oh, sorry, didn't notice that for some reason. I just remember having a room with one bed and then having surprise guests the last night. >_>
-
Oh, sorry, didn't notice that for some reason. I just remember having a room with one bed and then having surprise guests the last night. >_>
Sounds like cuddle-time.
-
It was Alex and CK. No. Yakko has better taste than that and I don't think anyone has ever touched Alex and brought a hand back with fingers.
-
More accurately Alex passed out around 7 pm. CK of course is just the least cuddly person ever.
-
Has anyone started buying airline tickets for this? I want to do it soon before the prices inflate but I also want to make sure I arrive at a convenient time so we should probably start thinking about that yeah?
-
Ok, I am confirmed. I'll be driving from Morgantown WV east to NJ. If anyone is along the way I can pick up or can get to an area on the way, let me know.
Meeple, can you PM me the actual address of your house and the hotel?
I guess it's time to think of hotel stuff?
-
So... the dawn of the new depression has effected ticket prices in ways I did not expect and I can actually probably afford to make it after all. I need to double check with work, but I may just end up being a yes. I need to sort out other stuff like who/where to stay with before/after though because again, long arse flight makes for a goddamned holiday either side of it.
-
Mmm...ok, travel plans look like this:
Head east from Morgantown (WV) to Hagerstown (Maryland), then northeast through Chambersburg, Harrisburg, Allentown (PA), then east through Morristown to Wayne (NJ). Anyone on that way, let me know - I can probably make a detour if needed. Drive is about 6 hours.
-
Oil prices are spiking again (50 dollars a barrel) I would strongly suggest that anyone flying in buy tickets as quickly as possible.
-
Oh, I should say this now, cause I'm not sure everyone quite understands...
Do *NOT* bring any food into my house. This is an odd request, but bare with me:
My mother is big on being Kosher. Therefor, rather than trying to explain what you can and cannot bring, it'd just be easier to say "Don't bring any food into the house." So yeah, if you wrap anything up from a Restaurant, bring it back to your hotel room...or just don't wrap it up at all. Don't buy any sort of food unless you plan on eating it on the spot or outside of my house. My parents are pretty strict on this stuff.
I'd love to explain what "Kosher" means but that gets complicated, so yeah, just for one last point, do NOT bring any food.
Drinks are fine, mind (though please keep them non-Alcholic, for all that I don't think that'll be a problem), since Kosher doesn't really apply there.
I don't think any of the above will be a problem; yes, I will make sure there's food provided at my house, but yeah, this is something I think should be noted.
-
How about challah for breakfast? If that's not kosher, something is extremely wrong.
-
Well, I'm sure I can get my hands on plenty of Challah if it comes to that!
-
Drinks are fine, mind (though please keep them non-Alcholic, for all that I don't think that'll be a problem), since Kosher doesn't really apply there.
Grumble grumble... >_>
-
Meep: Move Fnorder into yes. He said he'll pop in one of the days at least, don't need to worry about housing and the like for him.
-
I will make sure there's food provided at my house,
Arr, that's fine then~
-
OH yeah forgot to say to officially change me to a yes because I bought my ticket.
-
So yeah, money's still an issue, and not sure how I'd be getting there yet. But, my summer classes at that point would make it doable - last class for the week is Thurs. and ends at 11:30 a.m., and Mon. class doesn't start until 1 p.m., so I can get home late Sun. and sleep in (or even leave really early Mon. morning if I had to).
I'll probably not be driving myself over, though, so unless train schedules are good enough, I'll need a ride to get there. And, of course, need to get the money as well, which isn't a sure thing.
So yeah, nothing really new (I'll be sure either way by June, promise T_T), but schedule is now known (as long as I've been at whatever job I'm doing long enough to get whatever days I need off >_>).
-
Ok, this needs to be said now, and since we're nearing DLCon time in only a few short months...
DEADLINE: May 21st.
You need to have confirmed by then. If you're on Probably/Maybe, you will be considered not coming if you do not change by then, UNLESS you have a really damn good reason. We need to start booking the hotels and its hard to do so when we don't know whose coming and such.
Ideally, those who haven't dealt with their travel plans yet, please do so ASAP as well. We're running out of time and we need to get this shit figured out.
-
Ok, PEOPLE WHO ARE CONFIRMED TO COME, please read this, it is important:
I'm going to need the following info from you, for a variety of reasons.
Your real life name.
Your address.
Phone Numbers (Cell ideally if you have one)
Some emergency contact with required info to contact them.
Even if you think I have this info, send it to me anyway, its important.
If you think this is a little extreme...well, remember, you're coming to my house, which is technically my parents house, and they kind of want your personal info in case something goes wrong (be it you do something really fucking stupid and we need to hunt you down, or something unexpected happens, thus the emergency contact is required)
Whether you want to display this stuff here, PM me via the boards or IRC, or flat out E-mail me in the info, any of that is fine. I just need to get a hand on it.
-
I'll get that to you as soon as I know what 3/4ths of those things are. Ah, lack of permanent address and shoddy cell phones. Also I have forgotten my name.
-
I'll get that to you as soon as I know what 3/4ths of those things are. Ah, lack of permanent address and shoddy cell phones. Also I have forgotten my name.
Bullshit on that one. I know for a fact that your Cellphone isn't THAT shoddy!
-
So, hotels aren't being sorted until people are confirmed to go, and I can't get a flight booked until I've got hotels sorted. Think I'm gonna have to definitely give it a miss this year then. >.> Ah, well. Maybe next year.
-
Something can be worked out there.
-
So, hotels aren't being sorted until people are confirmed to go, and I can't get a flight booked until I've got hotels sorted. Think I'm gonna have to definitely give it a miss this year then. >.> Ah, well. Maybe next year.
I'm confirmed to be driving. Are we going to do 4 person rooms like last time? I think that's what's been discussed. If you want, would it be doable to book hotel rooms now so you can confirm?
-
I'm afraid I'm out for sure, there's no way I can come up with enough money for another cross country flight, hotel, and general expenses between now and then. Maybe next year.
-

Well, basically, I'm meant to be coming over for about 1-2 weeks, so I'd need everyone who's gonna be staying past the weekend to say ASAP - I know Super mentioned it, but can't remember who else said they might.
If that were all to be sorted out within the next week or so, then... should be able to go. If not, I'll at least be able to give a definite answer.
-
Edit: PM me the next time you see me on IRC, Yoshiken.
-
hey, I'm 95% sure my Brooklyn apartment will be available for people who want to do NYC the low-budget way after the con. There'll be enough space for an indeterminate single-digit number of people who like sharing to crash, provided they don't mind sleeping on the floor.
-
I'm in for that.
-
I was going to get a hotel, but that sounds awfully authentic (and I didn't spend enough time with notJim at the first one). Consider me tempted.
-
I was going to get a hotel, but that sounds awfully authentic
It's not authentic at all, because it won't cost you a shitload of money, which is the quintessence of New York living.
-
How hard is it to get from Brooklyn to Newark airport?
-
Consider me tempted.
-
Jim, you just passed up a perfect opportunity to not have to pay rent for a week.
-
Rent in the US is generally done by the month instead of by the week as you closer-to-British folks like to do.
-
This is what is wrong with your society.
-
How hard is it to get from Brooklyn to Newark airport?
I'd guess about 2 hours travel time all told on public transit (which tends to be the best option for getting places). I live very close to a subway station with service to Manhattan, so you take that, transfer at West 4th St, get off at Penn Station, take the train to the airport.
-
*Nods* Cool, it should be fun. Shoot me a PM when you get on IRC tonight.
-
Ok, posted *NEW* Hotel rates.
We need to start working on that, whose rooming with who, etc. In short, the rates have gone down by $10, which should make people satisfied <_<
-
I do not care, and also do not necessarily need a bed. Put me anywhere, I assume we're not spending too much time at the hotel.
-
I can do a room and also don't need a bed most nights. Especially if someone brings like a sleeping bag or something I can easy use a bath to sleep in (or a floor). Pretty sure Jersey won't be quite as weirdly cold as Pacifica though from memory, so bedding may be optional (That said I did get by with like a towel at Pacifica anyway IIRC).
-
Yeah, Jersey summers are more what you'd expect of a summer, as in, its actually warm and such here, so I don't think there's much to worry about in regards to freezing your ass off.
In any event, who rooms with who isn't a big deal to me, I just want to make sure people sort of get the room thing straightened out before its too late. Admittedly, I wouldn't be shocked if "Last Minute" still wasn't too late, but that's an aside! Better safe than sorry.
-
-sigh- Thanks to money problems and third parties taking wa~ay too long to actually do anything, I'm gonna have to cancel on this now. :/ Sorry about the delay in giving a definitive answer, and hopefully I'll be there next year instead.
-
that's a damn shame. well, good luck going forward.
-
Ok, has anyone done the room thing yet?
-
And...looks like it's not up yet?
Ok, I'll purchase a room...Friday? Who wants to get in on it with me? 3 more people needed.
Standard w/2 Beds $85.00 USD 85.00 USD
4 people in room. 3 more needed. I have a AAA card, so yay discount. I'll let you know price once confirmed.
-
Sure, I'll bunk with you.
-
I'll regret this later, I'm sure.
-
Sadly, don't think I'll be able to swing reserving a room this year, unless 15th of July isn't too late to make the reservation.
-
That literally depends if there are rooms left by then or not. Of which I'm sure there's like a 50/50 chance. I don't think there's an actual time limit; seems they let you reserve Hotel Rooms like last minute (as in, a day in advance), so long as they're available.
-
Yeah would prolly be best if someone else could pull the reservation sooner and I'll just pay them for my share of the room when I get there.
-
Oh yeah, I should note that I do expect some compensation for Gas, at least among people I'm carpooling. How much...uhh...get back to you, but I do not think this is an unreasonable request so yeah. This is mostly related to the Airport stuff.
-
Already planning on that, Meeple! No worries from me!
Although, I hear gas is much less expensive in the States now, especially compared to when I left last year (~$4/gal?).
-
It's...about $2.50-$2.80 or so now.
Anyway, Shale, Super, Myself...do we have another taker? Gate?
-
Nah, I'll wait for a different room. I remember how bad Super snores...
(That and me and Tai intend to be in the same room, and there's only one spot left in yours.)
-
Right now, Gas Prices are about $2.35~ , though i suspect this to go up by the time of the Con.
-
Obviously this means you should buy and horde some now to avoid paying more then!
-
I was shocked to see Southwest does not fly to New Jersey..... so there goes my discounts.
So anyone knows any airline that has some cheap rates?
-
Check Orbitz. That's who I use to book flights.
-
Alright, I think with like 5 weeks left to the con its time people start doing this...
GET YOUR ROOMS SET UP. Talk to random people, decide whose sleeping wtih who, etc. If you're staying at my house, or with Soppy, you can ignore this post. From what I understand, at this moment, OK's room has 3 people including himself, and he needs one more before he gets that room set up. If you are't put in a room or a house yet, SPEAK UP AND DISCUSS IT AND SUCH. We're kind of running out of time here.
-
Niu: That was an annoying thing I noticed as well! Flights from Cali to NJ suck, but Continental and United and AA have had the cheapest flights I've seen.
Need to wait until Monday to actually purchase the tickets, but Andrew and I are 99.5% confirmed. Our likely flight:
Continental
Arrive from SFO, Flight CO1829:
6:27 a.m.
Fri., Jul. 31, 2009
New York/Newark, NJ (EWR - Liberty)
Depart to SFO, Flight CO648:
7:25 p.m.
Mon., Aug. 3, 2009
New York/Newark, NJ (EWR - Liberty)
I believe we've got the rooming thing all set up. Someone talk to me about the potential for rides. I KNOW the times are awkward -- unfortunately, this is what Andrew and I have got to do. If it's necessary, we can rent a car, but we'd really, really rather not do that.
-
Indeed, at least Continental is pretty fair
4 people in room. 3 more needed. I have a AAA card, so yay discount. I'll let you know price once confirmed.
Waiiit.
Triple A card give discounts? I have one too, but how does that give you discount?
-
Some businesses, including a few hotel chains, give AAA members discounts.
-

I can do that. That ok with you Meeple? I'm used to being up early like that.
-
Yeah, I'd appreciate you getting them if really don't mind. Thanks for volunteering.
-
So I still need to work out hotel arrangements. Can everyone who still has space in a room/still needs to work something out make yourself known so we can figure this out?
-
OK's room has 3 people including himself, and he needs one more before he gets that room set up.
-
Rooms so far seem to be:
OK/Super/Shale/???
Gate/Tai/???/???
-
Hmmm. Well, I was thinking that I would like to stay with you guys and I was going to ask MC about it as well. I'm trying to decide now if I want to get six nights in the hotel (three for con, three post-con) or just do three nights and stay with Meeple for the other three.
-
I should probably room with heavy sleepers, because I never know when my fluctuating insomnia is going to be horrid and lots of people with that could be a compounding problem.
-
I'd be willing to room in either of those rooms if you still need someone to fill the space. As I said, I don't really care where I sleep.
-
Tentatively speaking, our room's now maxed. Unsure on this, but.
-
confirmed :)
-
Assuming my card can get the discount... but I doubt many people would want to sleep in the same room with me.
-
Assuming my card can get the discount... but I doubt many people would want to sleep in the same room with me.
Why? Do you intend to bring shota fap material with you or something? ::)
-
Assuming my card can get the discount... but I doubt many people would want to sleep in the same room with me.
You bunked with people at DLC2/3. Shouldn't be a problem here.
-
Well, at DLC2, Niu bunked with me, Sage, and Yakko; the biggest fears in that room were NOT Niu, but rather, a war being started up between Me and Sage <.<
-
Sharing a room with Niu was fine. <_<
Okay, been sorta going back and forth about this for a while, but at this point, I think I am officially cancelling. I love you guys, but I just can not justify paying over 500 dollars to come to just a single day of the Con, considering what my budget looks like this year. (Death to school.) All I can say is there had better be a DLC5.
-
Damn, a complete shame. I'll make sure DLC5 happens.
Edit: I'll bunk with Niu again if nobody else wants to.
-
Since it's looking like someone's going to need to plan another room, whoever is staying at a hotel and still needs to decide on a room should PM me and I'll work on getting the room reserved this week.
-
I lack a credit card, so I pretty much have to just jump in on another room. So yeah, honestly just kinda waiting for people to figure out who's reserving the rooms before saying much more.
-
Thank you OK! <3
Our flight is getting in slightly later than originally planned (now arriving at 7:35am @ EWR), so I hope that makes it a little easier. Awkward flight times are awkward -- it is much appreciated.
-
Just noting for record keeping purposes, but the people who are currently confirmed for my house are:
Andy
LD
Sage
Those on the list above, please submit your sizes for your complimentary t-shirts, tophats and monocles.
Grefter
Those on the list above, please submit your sizes for your complimentary jumpsuits, prison hats and manacles.
-
Those on the list above, please submit your sizes for your complimentary jumpsuits, prison hats and manacles.
They give hats in prison now? What a deal!
-
You should already be aware that jumpsuits are standard issue, I already have a hat and my suitcase will have enough fuzzy handcuffs to go around.
-
How disturbing. Good thing Grefter isn't rooming with us.
-
How disturbing. Good thingToo bad Grefter isn't rooming with us.
Fixed.
-
Should I purchase a pair of iron underwear? With lock and key?
-
Zenny's going to be there and you haven't yet?
-
It would make Meeple's sister feel safer, I'm sure.
-
Not if he still owns the key.
-
It would make Meeple's sister feel safer, I'm sure.
Umm...if a person you didn't know told you they were wearing iron underwear with a lock and key, would that really make you feel safer? 'Cause personally that would creep me out.
-
Prude.
OK, so since nobody's PM'd me expect me to start bugging people in IRC before the end of the week. Too tired right now.
-
It would make Meeple's sister feel safer, I'm sure.
Umm...if a person you didn't know told you they were wearing iron underwear with a lock and key, would that really make you feel safer? 'Cause personally that would creep me out.
I think it would depend on the conversation preceding the big reveal. For example, if Meeple were to have said 'Hey this guy makes registered child offenders look tame.' to his sister at some point before hand, it might put her mind at ease. Also, if someone -other- that OK had the key....
For the record, I'd like to note that I'm just joking, cause who knows who else reads this stuff and starts tracing OK's IP address or whatever...
-
Djinn, you realize my sister is 8 years old and thus wouldn't understand that, right?
-
Djinn, you realize my sister is 8 years old and thus wouldn't understand that, right?
Not the point. >.>;; Replace 'Meeple's sister' with 'Trance' to get the same effect.
-
Okay, we need to get this hotel room/who is staying where during the con crap taken care of now guys. The con is like a month away, so the clock is ticking! If Gate and Tai's room still has two free spots, I'd like to stay in it. Maybe I can rope Niu along for that too, who knows.
If I have to, I can get my parents to reserve a room. I don't see that being an issue, but you never know.
-
We need a fourth in the OK room. Dhyer?
And if my count's right, there are nine people who still need accomodations, so two more rooms overall are needed.
-
mc and I are staying with Gate and Tai already, the hotel arrangements are being made by me since Gate and mc didn't want to.
-
Eyeballing things, this looks like the current count on rooms.
Meeple- Hosting. Additionally boarding Djinn, Nitori, and Tonfa?
Soppy- Hosting. Additionally boarding Andy, LD, Grefter, and Sage.
Mad Fnorder- Local, requires no hosting?
OK- Room reserved, boarding Super and Shale.
Gate- Room reserved, boarding Ciato, Metroid, and Tai
If all this is accurate, that leaves CK, Xer, miki (who more or less said commuting would be a pain in the ass each day and wanted a room, as I recall), Niu, Dhyer, Zenny, Pyro, and Talaysen not confirmed in a reserved room. Niu has expressed interest in reserving a room, but we'll need two people to do so. So uh yeah! As previously noted, I can't really reserve a room so someone else kinda needs to do so >.>
-
Just to note that I'll get the reservation settled in this week.
-
Apparently I got it done faster than I think.
Got a room with 2 beds.
-
2 beds? Don't we uh need like 4?
-
Nah, two is what we had for DLC2 as well, just two people on the floor. I seriously doubt you're going to find many hotels with rooms with four beds to begin with, let alone in a sane price range.
-
Indeed, as the Yak said. I slept fine on the floor, and Gate slept on the chair, while Capt. and Cmdr. slept on the two beds.
Just let me know who wants to stay in my room. No rape involved.
-
Ah, okay. I can't sleep on floors because of my fucked up arm though :/
-
Sleeping Arrangements are best decided at the Con itself, as in, who sleeps where. In my case at DLC2, though, everyone in my room (myself included) basically didn't care where they slept, so yeah!
But yeah, 2 beds is what we did at DLC2, so no problems there.
-
Okay, it looks like I'm in Super/Shale/OK's room. Also mentioned this to Super, but I thought it was typical for hotel beds to be designed for 2 people anyways?
-
Some people are tentative about sleeping with other people. Including myself (but only because most of you are dudes >_>)
-
Insert love hotel joke here.
But seriously, yeah, my intent is to bring a pillow with me and crash on the floor, most likely. Since I usually sleep on the floor instead of using a mattress anywho, is fine by me.
-
Just checking who else is going to bunk with me.
Right now I have Xeroma and Makkotah, there is still room for one more.
-
Cmdr, Pyro, Tal, Miki, (VSM if he comes). Does anyone else need a room?
-
Miki got my the last spot of my room.
-
So, we have Miki, the resident Normal guy, and Xeroma the resident young guy, stuck in a room with both me AND Niu?
I apologise in advance for everything that will happen.
-
So that least Me/Tal/Pyro(/VSM). Sooo uh.. Pyro! Could you reserve a room? Tal? Plz?
-
So, we have Miki, the resident Normal guy, and the resident young guy
Who's what now?
-
So, we have Miki, the resident Normal guy, and the resident young guy
Who's what now?
Apparently you are young and normal. News to me, too. Though, I suppose compared to Zenny and Niu...
-
Ah, typoes.
Also, young and normal. Jus' the way I likem.
-
Who the fuck thought it was a good idea to put Miki and Zenny in the same room? I blame Super.
Granted, this might do well to burying the hatchet between them... if that doesn't literally happen that is.
-
Not good idea. Great idea.
-
Oh, something will be buried all right~
...
I'm not entirely sure what I mean by that.
-
Its probably best it remains that way...
-
I'm not entirely sure what I mean by that.
let's go with "memories will be suppressed." probably the cleanest answer, in every sense.
-
Sooo in yet another reversal (finances a little better than I'd feared + appeals from quite a few people to get me to change my mind), I'm coming after all. Flying in Saturday morning, staying until Wednesday.
If you guys do anything cool like going to a play it had better happen Saturday or later!
-
Superb. Does Meeple have SC4 or should I bring 3?
-
SC4 is indeed in my possession; need to talk parents into letting us use the 360 first though...but if someone else bring a 360, we can make use of it or something!
(but then we can't use my custom characters! ...which I'm sure a minority of you care about...)
-
If Meeple didn't have it I would have brought my copy anyways. It's part of the FG tourney lineup!
-
ugh god the elf is coming jesus this sucks
-
No, this just means we have another for the orgy on Saturday. He is cute after all.
Thanks for coming NEB! Now I can also force P4 on you!
-
Change of plans: I won't be arriving until Friday evening or Saturday morning. Hopefully the former, but I won't be completely sure until that week. It looks like my boss is taking two weeks off there, not the one week I was expecting, so I'm going to have to cover everything at the newspaper for that issue. Missing two days of work in the middle of it is really not a good idea.
-
Who's booking our hotel room, you or OK?
-
So Sopko presented a problem in chat about transportation; there are about 25 people, and there are only four cars, and one of those is only through part of the con. This is a pretty big problem, and I think if people chipped in to rent a car it would be fairly inexpensive. People from 21-25 can rent cars, but it's with a penalty. So ideally someone over 25, but not a requirement.
Already Driving
Meeplelard
Shale
OK
Sopko
Others
Over 25
superaielman- Over 25, has a license.
CmdrKing- Over 25, has a license.
Metroidcomposite- Over 25, I think she has a license she never uses?
Notmiki- Over 25, assuming he doesn't drive
Mad Fnorder-Over 25, ??
Sage- is 25, has a license!
Elfboy- Over 25, has a license, is going to be late
Under 25
Gatewalker- Under 25, no license
Xeroma- Under 25, not sure
Tonfa- Under 25, is from Finland so this might get messy. >_>
Nitori- Under 25, ??
Dhyerwolf- Under 25, has a license
Zenthor- Under 25, think he has a license.
Pyro- Under 25, has a license
Niu- Under 25?, ??
Djinn- Under 25, ??
Andrew- Under 25, ??
Lady Door- Under 25, ??
Taishyr- Under 25, ??
Ciato- Under 25, has a license
Grefter- blind
Talaysen- blind
So that's my breakdown so far! Can Meeple enlighten us on what type of driving this person could be doing?
-
Generally speaking, it'd be local roads and some highways. Some City Driving if you get the car from Newark, but that would just be too and from. In general, we aren't actually going that far from my house.
-
Oh boy. ._.
I'm licensed. I have USAA. What that means is that I can rent a car from Hertz, Budget and Avis (I think it's them, I'll double-check with that later) without paying the penalty for being under 25 in addition to receiving a discount (11%, I think, plus a free weekend day or free upgrade or whatever).
If you really want me to, I can look into costs and such. I am pretty big on getting insurance, however, because I don't own a car and I don't trust credit card coverage.
-
Metroidcomposite- Over 25, I think she has a license she never uses?
I do.
But uhh...ID for me before August 6 is going to be a little weird. I know it's not a problem for getting on a plane, but for a car rental place in Jersey? I wouldn't want to rely on them approving me.
-
Yeah, that could get awkward.
-
Well, finding out costs would be nice so we can figure out how much each person will need to pay in this case.
-
It's looking like $275-$325 for Friday morning through Monday evening rental of a 4-person car with the insurance I'm comfortable with.
ETA: They've changed their deals since the last time I rented in March. ;_; The free weekend days, etc., have made way for really lame discounts. So it's more the small percentage off (which barely dents the fees/taxes of an airport rental, ugh) and the lack of need to pay a <25 surcharge.
-
So if everyone could pitch in 20 dollars or so (the people who aren't driving, that is) that would be most excellent.
-
I'll see if I can pitch in, but I might not have the money for it. I'm a little pressed on funds compared to last year :F Especially given I have to pay for more food this time. If I don't actually have to I'd be able to pitch in, though.
-
I'll pitch in some money, sure. But it's looking like we'll need to rent more than 1 car? How many people can the cars we already have fit?
As an aside, Niu, have you booked our hotel room yet? I sure hope so...
-
I can fit five with minor trouble, four with none.
-
My Mom volunteered to help out if necessary. But that still poses a problem for Friday where it'd still be 25 people, 4 cars.
-
I cannot drive. Apologies, there.
-
Well, simply put, if Ashley is going to be bearing the cost of a rental car on her credit card or something, it is quite important that everyone contribute. Ashley should not be left with a bill because people won't help her, especially since she being nice enough to help chauffeur everyone around.
I don't want to be a massive hardass about this, but it's really important that Ash doesn't get screwed over.
-
Has there been anybody yet who has said that they're not willing to pitch in or are you talking to the people who haven't spoken up yet?
If the former, and they're not people driving already... what the hell, man.
-
Yeah, I figured it went without saying that everyone chips in there. I'm fine with that.
-
Zenny, the post right after mine says as much. >_>
-
Okay, reserved a car. 8:00am Friday, July 31st (when Andrew and I get in -- OK, thank you, but looks like we don't need a ride anymore! :P) through 5:30pm Monday, August 3rd.
$300 is still a lot of money to me, so I appreciate reimbursements. Thank you for defending me, Ciato <3 (Seriously, love you guys, but "groups paying for things" rarely works out as well as it should. Ask any waitress, or anyone who's hosted DLC before. >_>)
-
As an aside, Niu, have you booked our hotel room yet? I sure hope so...
The reservation was already made.
$66 a night.
-
It's that cheap? o_O;
-
Zenny, the post right after mine says as much. >_>
And that's why reading is fun. Though it seems Xeroma just got a nice surprise about the hotel costs so that shouldn't be an issue anymore. Also I will be creepy and weird at him while he's trying to get to sleep if he doesn't pitch. Hell, even if he does.
Just see if I don't.
As for how Niu got such a cheap room, I'm going to just not think about it. What Niu does on Niu's own time is Niu's business. ...And the business of the hotel manager.
-
Considering it's looking like I won't have to actually spend half my con money on the hotel room, pitching in for the car shouldn't be a problem anymore.
-
Sage- is 25, has a license!
Aaaaaaaactually I don't and never have.
I had a permit, but it expired and I was too rushed when I was getting my ID for general DLC2 purposes to bother getting another permit.
Insurance is a bastard. I'd've had a license years ago otherwise.
(Not that it matters for rental purposes, but I can't drive anyone anywhere, just to be clear. Well I mean I can but I'm not.)
Edit: And despite the low cash flow, I should definitely be able to chip in 20$ on the car.
Though if things go really badly(as in, I don't have any more cash for the trip than what I have on hand right now-I really hope this doesn't happen as that would be a bitch, I have like 50$ now. It shouldn't, but just saying if it does.), I may have to mail it to you later/give you a postdated check or something. I'll be fine on cash right after the con(like, literally the day I get home), due to the the stupid way things worked out timing-wise, so.
-
I don't mind chipping in for a car rental either.
-
You know, I'm guessing it's $66 per person per night, not $66 for the entire room per night.
(And yes, I will be happy to contribute to LD's car rental, and to help Ciato with bullying others into doing the same).
-
Which reminds me- International stuff. If you said you were going to help with that and are still able to do so, talk to me sometime before you leave.
-
Met if it costed that much I wouldn't be able to make it to the con at -all- >_>;
I mean seriously, I'll be able to bring like $200 tops and I need half of that for room and car. $66 a night -per person- is just asking for way too much.
-
Precisely is $66.6 per night
But that is without the taxes and other applicable misc. fees.
BTW, I do have car license.
-
Meeple will be gone until this Sunday. If you have any DLC related questions, I shall direct you to his phone number if you don't have it!

*shrug* kay, I guess I'm out of touch.
-
Uh, that's pretty standard for a decent hotel room. I just shelled out $190 for my share of three nights at Otakon.
-
Really depends on location, and on the class of the hotel. Personally I'd find 66x4 = 264 per night ludicrous for anywhere I personally planned to stay (even in high-land value markets you can find things for less than half that amount), but some people love their luxury. Probably an exception should be noted for small tourist trap resort towns, though... regardless, Wayne is not one such.
-
Anything more than 150 a night for a hotel means you're staying at a place that's too expensive and are either paying for the quality of the hotel, the location of the hotel, or are fucking terrible at shopping around. 66 a night just kind of surprises me because that's the going rate for a night at a motel around here, and I figured Jersey would be more expensive by a lot.
-
Maybe my problem is that I just don't do any traveling unless I'm visiting family where I don't need a hotel (or it's a business trip and I'm not paying).
-
I have a license, for the record. My attendance dates are still fuzzy, but that's a seperate issue.
-
Hey guys.
First of all - Under 25-ness confirmed. License confirmed. I can afford to pitch in double (maybe triple) for the rental car if there's someone who -really- can't afford it. So, hopefully that puts LD's mind at ease somewhat.

Yeah, same here.
-
Hey, just a thought: Once you blokes have everything figured out as far as who is picking up who from what airport, you should probably PM those people your cell phone numbers so people can find each other more easily than it would otherwise.
-
Quick check:
Is anyone bringing Apples to apples?
-
I assumed you were. I mentioned it a few times that no one seemed to be bringing it.
-
On the note of bringing things:
- Arkham Horror and its expansions will be coming.
- Betrayal - Soppy has it, yes?
- PS3 - How much do you guys want/need this? It's really scary to think about lugging it cross-country, but it conveniently fits in Andrew's backpack so we can if it's necessary.
- on that note, Wii/PS3 controllers and the like. Needed?
Is there anything Andrew's supposed to bring other than that? He may or may not remember, and I'm supposed to be his brain on these things. >_> I doubt he has any game anyone wants, but feel free to ask.
-
Soppy also has gloom (plus expansion), I believe. If not, I can bring my deck.
-
I have Betrayal, Gloom and the expansions, yes. As well as a PS3 w/2 controllers. Bring two more if you can/you think we need them.
-
Awesome. I'll toss in the controllers just to make sure they're available.
-

Okay, I can bring it in that case.

He needs to bring his laptop or whatever he uses for all his writing endeavors. >.>

He needs to bring his laptop so he can turn on the webcam while he is in the shower

Knowing that he doesn't need the PS3, he probably will have his laptop -- and the writing he's been doing, and thus chat and L4D access. Hooray! Sorry to disappoint the rest of you, but he lacks a webcam and waterproofing for his laptop.
-
I figure we'd have a few bloody corpses strewn around if he -had- waterproofing+webcam.

If he wants, I have a spare webcam I can bring.
-
Wait, waterproofing?
-
Wait, this is actually a plot to get Andy's laptop broken instead of a plot to get Andy's naked buttocks on the internets?
-
No, we just want Andy naked - that means the laptop should NOT be broken.
-
Make up your mind, people.
-
ATTENTION: DHYER, SUPER, SHALE
This is important - CHECK YOUR PMs
-
WAIT
WE HAD NAKED WEBCAM JOKES AND NO ONE HAS A GUITAR!
Argh missed opportunities.
-
I'm not sure what fetish you're thinking about, but I just want some pics of naked Andy to sell to people

I think you'd have better luck getting people to pay for you not to give them the pictures.
-
Hey, hey you people coming to the Con!
Does anyone have copies of DDS and DDS 2 who would be willing to let me borrow them for a time? I was going to borrow Super's but his have been... misplaced.
If not, no big (coming this late especially), but I'd appreciate it if it's possible.

Honestly, the person who needs to do that is OK. Wearing a pharmacy lab coat open at the front. Except with large bottles of pills instead of an electric guitar*. Preferably screaming "SPECIAL DELIVERY" the moment the picture is taken.
*I can provide pill bottles if needed. Just as long as they don't contact...anything but his hands, really. >_>
-
...
That's the funniest idea anyone ever has had.
-
From anyone else it'd be terrifying I think, but met has that innocence thing going.
... or just hit the "raging sex drive" part of puberty, but that seems less likely for multiple reasons.

Hahaha, no, way too early for that. Not feeling any strong attractions to anyone right now.

This picture is SO HAPPENING.

I have realized I'm missing something very important for tomorrow. Namely, Meeple's address, and/or directions to his place from the turnpike. PM?
