Writeup Graveyard / Gwendolyn (vs. Warmech)
« on: December 19, 2007, 03:09:08 AM »
Exiled princess, beloved wife, revered warrior, mourning sister, and cherished(?) daughter. Gwendolyn has many facets to her existence, all of them beautiful in their own way. Her mechanized foe may not be able to appreciate most of those titles, but the "revered warrior" part will be put on display quite brutally in this one sided match. Gwendolyn's skill with her psypher spear enables her to make herself ethereal with the Invisible spell, and her Shadow Ally spell allows her to attack relentlessly while completely immune to anything this surprisingly weak foe might throw at her. For the woman who felled even Leventhan, scrapping this mechanical monstrosity will be a trivial feat.

Locked and loaded. Warmech's full arsenal is ready to be brought to bear in the unranked Arena, for the sake of robots everywhere. And what is its first target in this season, but a random fleshy thing, and a female one at that. Despite his target's superior durability in comparison to most of her cast, its main gun should be able to take it out with relative quickness, and if that should fail to be effective, or say, the target turn invisible for some reason, a quick spray and pray Nuclear volley should be able to deal with the uppity flesh-being. Tiamat's personal guardian shall make history, starting with this fight.

Writeup Graveyard / Julius (vs. Benjamin)
« on: December 19, 2007, 03:06:50 AM »
ORIGINAL

NR Godlike beware, as His Imperial Highness Prince Julius has arrived to take on the challenge! Sety's had his shot at fame and blew it; now it's time for Julius to show all and sundry a REAL mage. Who better to start with, then, than a kid who fancies himself a big-shot mage part-time? Benjamin may have powerful attacks both physical and magical, but Julius has completely jaw-dropping defences in both areas... and his personal tome Lopt, filled with the power of the Dark Dragon Loputousu, goes one step further and halves the power of any attacks made against his person before taking these into account. And in the unlikely event that Ben manages to chip away half his health, his already stunning attack power doubles! Perhaps Julius might find a challenge in upcoming matches, but if this one is anything to go by they might as well just skip the formalities and declare him the champion pre-emptively.

Writeup Graveyard / Benjamin (vs. Julius, pre-edited for length)

Ah, Benjamin. Hero of his entire world and slayer of some sort of spidery octopus Dark King. While that may not be so much of a recommendation to some, the fact remains that his fighting ability is unparalleled. And this Julius chap... he claims to be a king with black magics capable of crushing Benjamin and massive defenses, but Benjamin not only has the speed advantage on his erstwhile foe, he also possesses full healing, magical durability, and a host of disabling and crippling status in the Dragon Claw. Oh, and he makes things blow up with Flare, White or Meteor spells guaranteed to level the opposition, and even has options for instant death magic, if the chance arises (and he can smuggle those copies of Life into the arena!). Indeed, while this king may be grand, Benjamin has all the cards he needs to take down the bloated egotism that his nemesis has.

Writeup Graveyard / Genshu (vs. Brusom)
« on: December 19, 2007, 03:04:56 AM »
Genshu is a man who is constantly struggling against people's perceptions. They can call him a wash and stick him in the annals of NR Light all they want; this is a samurai with blinding speed cuts, fancy footwork, and the ability to destroy a man in a single blow. And in this match, Brusom, unimpressive samurai that he is, will get to feel the true might of a real samurai legend. Whether it be a simple series of blinding slashes or a Swallow Rune killing, it will be clear that Genshu is not a man you want to cross.

Writeup Graveyard / Wild Jango (vs. Alakazam)
« on: December 19, 2007, 03:03:32 AM »
All systems are 100%, and the ultra-mobile bobcat reploid Wild Jango is raring to tear up NR Heavy with his lightning-fast electrical assault! And what a great first match for the maniacal maverick as well. Alakazam might have some fearsome offense, speed and healing, but he's also renowned for liking physical attacks about as much as small children do. With Lightning Rod to suck away the psychic type's impressive speed, and add it to Jango's own, the reploid will quickly be able to negate any speed advantage held by the pokemon. And with his solid defenses and powerful Rolling Assault physical, Alakazam just won't be able to keep up the attack for long enough. This is what we call a classic steamrolling, right here folks.

You know, there are few things more awesome than having a supercomputer for a brain. With his mental abilities that are not only superior but completely transcend that of the normal dueler's, Alakazam is a feared opponent, which is only natural when you can just crush your opponent's mind with your own. Of course, Alakazam never gets the respect he deserves, which is why this walking mind crusher is up against a half-witted maverick. Reflect and Light Screen will wall the electric assault, Recover heals what little damage does get through, and a barrage of Psychics will send the useless maverick back to the scrap heap.

Writeup Graveyard / Pappilion (vs. Mist Dragon)
« on: December 19, 2007, 03:01:49 AM »
Pappilion's first match didn't exactly turn out as well as she could have hoped. No problem, she's a big girl (figuratively speaking), she could take her lumps and learn from her mistakes. This time, she's not going to battle unprepared. That's right, she's taken the liberty to go to Something-or-other FAQs and looked up her opponent! With this knowledge in hand, she shall enter the battle with her trump card... her ability to WAIT! Yes, by waiting whenever her opponent turns to Mist, she will effectively seal the Mist Dragon's ultimate technique. Meanwhile, the dragon's poor physicals will face the fairy's excellent evasion and her counters, while her own attacks shall quickly overwhelm the slow, puny boss and lead her to victory.

Writeup Graveyard / Jinx (vs. Father Salade)
« on: December 19, 2007, 03:01:07 AM »
Hi-ya! After a disappointing loss to Jack Russell several seasons ago, the six-inch sensei returns to action here in the Not Ranked league. Did you really think you could get rid of Jinx that easily? Never! The diminutive martial arts master has been training day and night to improve his skills, and now he finally gets the chance to show everyone just how strong he has become. Father Salade is a hard-hitter, sure, but a quick casting of Valor Up should fix that. And once Jinx uses Vigor Up to increase his already-high physical attack power, the sensei's kicks and punches will be absolutely devastating. Don't worry, Salade -- if Jinx is feeling charitable, he may even offer to teach you a thing or two about fighting once this match is over.

Writeup Graveyard / Father Salade (vs. Jinx)
« on: December 19, 2007, 03:00:25 AM »
Imagine your typical RPG priest. Physically weak, physically frail, relies mostly on magic, may be a tad effeminate, right? Now, take all those traits and toss them in the Recycle Bin because none of them describe Father Salade, the powerful founder of the Church of the Holy Maiden. Old as he may be, he's still a monster of a man and far stronger than his charges, capable of taking hits from the strongest of demons and striking back with a punch that hits even harder. However, while he's more than a match for Jinx, he won't hold back in his first match, and he shall make his diminutive opponent feel the full weight of fifty years!
