Empoleon (Pokémon) vs Minorio Aki (Labyrinth of Touhou 2) - I don't think even the Confusion is enough to let Empoleon win here.

Discussion / Re: The RPGDL Card Game - Blame Djinn for this one
« on: December 27, 2023, 08:53:54 AM »
Djinn told me to draw up some FF4 card ideas, so...

Cecil, the Dark Knight
Sword, Dark Knight
HP: 5
ATK/MAG/AGL: 5/5/4
Active: Darkness - Deal self 2 damage: Discard 2 Hand Cards; your attack this turn deals 2 extra damage to one target.

Ability Cards:
Dark Wave - Deal self 2 damage.  Deals MAG damage to all enemy characters.  Discard 2 cards at the end of damage calculation.
Valiant Blow - PHY damage.  Discard 1 card: Move target back 1 row.
Gravity Ball - MAG damage.  Target cannot change rows on their next turn.

Equipment:
Shadowblade - Sword - If equipped to Dark Knight, PHY+1.  If equipped to Cecil, PHY+1.
Deathbringer - Sword - Discard one hand card to equip.  If equipped to Dark Knight, PHY+2.  If equipped to Cecil, MAG+2 and AGL+2

Cecil, the Paladin
Sword, White, Paladin
HP: 7
ATK/MAG/AGL: 4/3/2
Passive: Cover - If a targeted party member has 2 or less HP for a PHY or AGL attack, this character becomes the new target.

Ability Cards:
Cure - Discard 1 card: if target character has less HP than max, place 1 random card from your hand face-down in that character's HP Pile
Esuna - Remove ally's negative status effect
Protect - PHY and AGL attacks do 1 less damage to target ally until the start of Cecil's next turn
Shell - MAG attacks do 2 less damage to target ally until the start of Cecil's next turn

Equipment:
Lusterous Shield - If Equipped to Paladin, PHY attacks deal 1 less damage.  If equipped to Cecil, AGL attacks deal 1 less damage.
Crystal Shield - Discard 1 Hand Card to equip.  If Equipped to Paladin, PHY and MAG attacks deal 1 less damage.  If equipped to Cecil, AGL attacks deal 1 less damage.

Middle - Cristo (Disgaea 5), Minorio Aki (LoT2)
Light - Logan (Disgaea 5), Rinnosuke (LoT2)

Godlike:

T260G (SaGa) vs. Belial (WA4) - 2RKOs, and Belial doesn't kill in time.

Heavy:

Emelia (SaGa) vs. Edgar Roni Figaro (FF6) - Rematch

Middle:

Red XIII (FF7) vs. Byleth Eisner (FE3H) - I'm very interested in seeing the math on this one.

Light:

Virginia Maxwell (WA3) vs. Heather (FE10) - Rematch

5
Godlike:

Fenrir (VP1) vs. Belial (WA4) Fenrir can't even hurt Belial before 50% HP, and Belial can probably come close enough to killing on a Triple.

Heavy:

Levin Brenton (WAXF) vs. Edgar Roni Figaro (FF6) - One miss at a bad time for Edgar to win, though Levin does still have an argument.

6
Godlike:

Winners:

T260G (SaGa) vs. Fenrir (VP1)

Losers:

Rika (PSIV) vs. Belial (WA4)

Heavy:

Winners:

Levin Brenton (WAXF) vs. Emelia (SaGa)

Losers:

Edgar (FF6) vs. Lilka (WA2) - It's funny to think about, but very solidly Edgar's fight here.

Middle:

Winners:

Red XIII (FF7) vs. Tony (WA4) - Doesn't Red's physical deal just as much damage as his L1 anyway?

Light:

Winners:

Heather (FE10) vs. Virginia Maxwell (WA3)

7
Godlike:

Belial (WA4) vs. Killer (SH3)

Heavy:

Edgar (FF6) vs. Asellus (SaGa)
Ness (EB) vs. Lilka (WA2)

Light:

Karn(BoF1) vs. Queen (S3)

8
Godlike:

Winners:

Killer (SH3) vs. T260G (SaGa) - My memory is kinda bad, but the dregs of it say that Killer can't threaten T260G the normal way, and she can just set up and make him go boom.

Losers:

Arceus (PKMN) vs. Sir Leopold (DQ8) - Ghost Plate blocks the biggest way I'd hype Leopold.
Belial (WA4) (No 4D Pocket) vs. Nailah (FE10)

Heavy:

Winners:

Levin Brenton (WAXF) vs. Lilka (WA2) - I...  Want to say Levin, but I don't know enough about XF to be sure.
Emelia (SaGa) vs. Asellus (SaGa) - EDIT: There were details I forgot.

Losers:

Eirika (FE8) vs. Edgar (FF6) - Noiseblaster, yeah.
Auron (FFX) vs. Ness (EB) - Auron uses Initiative Zombie Attack to break Ness's biggest gimmick.  Ness counters with PSI Paralysis, which doesn't wear off, shuts off all physicals, and Auron can do *nothing* about.

Middle:

Winners:

Red XIII (FF7) vs. Elena (G2) - Unless I'm missing something big, Red is faster, 2HKOs with his physical, and equips a Headband to block Sleep.  I'm not sure there's anything Elena can do to stop that.

Light:

Winners:

Queen (S3) vs. Virginia Maxwell (WA3) - While the way I see Suikoden 3 attacks working means Queen's getting at least one attack through Ginny's Evade, but then Ginny's building up FP like crazy for Gatlings that'd probably kill Queen a lot easier...  Hm.  Kneejerking this for now, but I'm open to interpretation.

Losers:

Poshul(CC) vs. Selphie(FF8) - While it's Poshul, FF8 hates the level of damage control any CC character has.

9
Godlike:

Sir Leopold (DQ8) vs. Jowy Atreides(S2) - I...  Want to say Jowy's evasion is good enough here?

Heavy:

Kanji (P4) vs. Edgar (FF6)
Ness (EB) vs. Alicia (VP2) - Yeah, I think an ID blocker that takes multiple uncommon drops from the final dungeon to craft one is a bit far for my allowances.

Middle:

:D

Light:

Edward (FF4) vs. Karn(BoF1) - Karn 2HKOs, and there's nothing Edward can do to stop that.  In fact, Edward should've lost to Berserker due to Confusion immunity being a built-in perk of the Berserk passive (and then Berserker probably would've won here), but here we are.
Boco (FFT) vs. Selphie(FF8)

10
Godlike

Rayquaza (PKMN) vs. Killer (SH3) - ID

Heavy

Lilka (WA2) vs. Auron (FFX) - Auron does not have the tools to deal with infinite Lilka, and she get buff up to the stratosphere before he gets dangerous.
Edgar (FF6) vs. Emelia (SaGa) - Perfect spoiler
Asellus (SaGa) vs. Eirika (FE8) - Perfect spoiler

Middle

Red XIII (FF7) vs. Anastasia (SH2) - I'm only 70% certain on this one rather than 100%, but still.

Light

Virginia Maxwell (WA3) vs. Karn (BoF1) - Karn possible has better outright damage, but much worse damage per turn thanks to Ginny evade.

11
Godlike:

Magus (CT) vs. Arceus (PKMN) - I'll think about this one later.
Sir Leopold (DQ8) vs. Chaos (FF1) - This one too.
Belial (WA4) vs. Edelgard (FE3H) - Does Edelgard even have a way around the Distortion?

Heavy:

Haishao (XG) vs. Kanji (P4) - Does...  Does Haishao have a regular physical, or does P4G Kanji just 100% spoil him instead of 80% spoiling him?
Ness (EB) vs. Worker 8 (FFT) - Compress doesn't actually ID according to the BMG on GameFAQs, despite the ability tooltip in-game.  Unless I can be shown video evidence contradicting that...  Ness alternates physicals and Lifeup Gamma with the occasional cast of Shield Beta to win, since W8 3HKOs with Crush at best.

Middle:

No Votes

Light:

Edward (FF4) vs. Berserker (FF5) - 2HKO vs. 8HKO.  The only way Edward could win this is if he Sings Berserker to sleep and Harps don't wake them up, which...  I think it doesn't work like that?
Peppor (CC) vs. Lelei (S5) - I don't...  I don't want to think about this one, so I'm just going to guess.  Open to even the slightest interpretations.
Boco (FFT) vs. Mogu (BoF1) - Again, less bad.

12
Godlike

Jowy Atreides (S2) vs. Belial (WA4) (No 4D Pocket) - Gets a turn, and Hungry Fiend OHKOs.
Shania (SH3) vs. Jenna Angel (DDS) - This almost feels unfair.

Heavy

Guv(DQ8) (No Call Team) vs. Edgar (FF6) - Guv can open with Dragon Soul!...  And then Edgar NoiseBlasters him to infinity.  If Guv winds up FullHealing Edgar at some point during that, then he can follow up with Air Anchor and just win.
Ness (EB) vs. Asellus (SaGa) - DeadEnd

Middle

No votes

Light

Boco (FFT) vs. Virginia Maxwell (WA3) - I don't think Ginny can overcome Choco Heal.  She might, but not fast enough to win. I FORGOT ABOUT THE EVASION.
Karn (BoF1) vs. Mogu (BoF1) - Slightly less awful.

13
Thanks for the reminder - I think my backup damage listed for Kanji is too low, meaning he deals 263 with Tarukaja'd Ziodyne rather than 210.  Irrelevant this match (especially if you allow the universal Lightningproof armor), of course.  That said, what do you propose Kanji use instead?  Persona physical skills don't care about weapon stats, so weapon stats only matter for regular attacks, All-Out Attacks (DL-irrelevant), and any other affixes on them like the Lightning damage boost.  Really normally it's just option 3 since improving basic attacks just totally doesn't matter.  I know I kept Yu equipped with the Sharp Shovel from Kanji's dungeon throughout the entire damn game because it offers Auto-Tarukaja and Who Cares what else.

Okay, I wasn't aware about the offense stat of the weapon not mattering.  That said, a quick look on a guide says that the Power Plate has Strength +3 for a little more damage, and if you allow things from Yomotsu Hirasaka, then the Aegis Shield has Endurance +10 (and if not, the Demon Shield has Endurance +4).

That said, I could offer a counter-argument for if/when Auron gets a turn 2: how do you see Zombie Break interacting with Regenerator (which I bring up because FFX Zombie apparently catches Regen for damage)?

14
Godlike:

Rayquaza (PKMN) vs. Magus (CT) - ORAS is legal and means MegaQuaza has a singular path to victory if he uses Rest/Dragon Ascent/Dragon Dance/Dragon Pulse.
Killer (SH3) vs. Arceus (PKMN) - 100% ID, or Seal completely screwing the PokeGod over.  Take your pick.
Sir Leopold (DQ8) vs. T260G (SaGa) - T260G almost OHKOs.  Leopold definitely ORKOs back, I think.  Assuming he can double-crit on command.

Heavy:

Kanji (P4) vs. Auron (FFX) - Initiative Power Break and Armor with SOS Protect + Lightningproof makes Kanji very, very sad.  I actually had to look up P4G Kanji after Snowfire brought it up, but...  I'm not sure it changes the math much, since Tarukaja falls off after the third turn, and Primal Force is chewing through a lot of Kanji's HP as it is.  Auron doesn't start out scary, but he gets scary later, so as long as his damage can keep up with the regen after halving, then it should be manageable.  I'd have to math it out sometime else...  And also question why the P4G topic has a weapon on Kanji that pretends his Ziodyne can be worthwhile, instead of something for pure physical damage.  I dunno, I'm almost leaning abstain at this point, but I'll go with my gut for now.

Middle:

Red XIII (FF7) vs. Juno (SN) - I shouldn't actually be voting on this because no Soul Nomad, but...  Based on what I could interpret, Red XIII could basically be seen as a Phynx, which is completely neutral to Juno.  After that...  They both 3HKO each other, but Red's faster.  Energize can make Red have to take four turns to kill Juno, but Red is still faster and that takes up Juno's turn anyway, so it's a wash.
Anastasia Romanov(SH2) vs. Byleth (FE3H) - Euthanasia or Nightmare, take your pick.

Light:

Selphie (FF8) vs. Berserker (FF5) - I'm willing to hype Death Sickle. Okay, so new info.  The 33% Proc chance of Death can actually fail, so I'm going to toss that out.  I'd then instantly give it to Selphie, but uh...  The randomness of Axe swings does mean that Berserker could just blow past a Limit, and they're getting at least two chances at that before Selphie swings can overwhelm them.  Selphie can also get knocked into an unfavorable limit range that gives her garbage even after fishing for the limit, meaning she loses a lot of momentum for turn order.  Flipside, the randomness of Axe damage could also throw Selphie into a good Crisis tier, and she just ends the match there with some fishing.  This is literally a match of, "Time to roll the dice," and this time I flipped a coin and it landed Berserker anyway, so...  That.
Poshul (CC) vs. Lelei (S5) - At least Poshul has bulk and average damage.  Lelei doesn't even come close to having that.

Killia (Disgaea 5) vs. Nash Latkje (Suikoden 3) - Nash activates Revenge increases three times per turn, and Killia starting with Fists means that he has a ~50% evade rate which knocks Nash's 2.5HKO to a 5HKO.  Killia hits Revenge, activates Tyrant Revelio, and I doubt Nash's evade can dodge three shots of way overkill damage in a single turn (20K before factoring in War Demon to a 14277.5 Kill Point).
Killia (Disgaea 5) vs. Alena (Dragon Quest 4) - Alena dealing damage with a 0.64x multiplier per hit (even on her crits), means that with Killia starting Fists for his 50% Evasion, she has a 4TKO assuming one crit, and Killia 3HKOs back.
Killia (Disgaea 5) vs. Meliadoul (Final Fantasy Tactics) - Meliadoul having ITE Weapon Destruction and huge physical damage resistance herself means she blows him up without much issue.
Killia (Disgaea 5) vs. Crono (Chrono Trigger) - Okay, assuming that Crono 3-2s Killia and Killia 4HKOs if he starts Fists...  The 50% Evasion probably means that Killia can win this?  4 Luminairs means 2 Luminairs, Confuse, miss the Spincut for 6 turns...  Yeah, this can work, but it's pretty coinflip-y.
Killia (Disgaea 5) vs. Cherche (Fire Emblem Awakening) - I'll go with RC's assumption up above.
Killia (Disgaea 5) vs. Adachi (Persona 4) - Uh, Phys Resist and Mudoon is enough.

Killia (Disgaea 5) vs. Danette (Soul Nomad)
Killia (Disgaea 5) vs. Miranda (Legend of Dragoon) - Killia 2HKOs handily with Sword, isn't 2HKOed back.
Killia (Disgaea 5) vs. Bart (Xenogears) - Killia can't kill fast enough before Bart becomes basically physically immune.
Killia (Disgaea 5) vs. Kimahri (Final Fantasy X) - I don't think Killia has anything to stop E&C
Killia (Disgaea 5) vs. Gryz (Phantasy Star 4) - I can accept Crash working before Killia can kill, since most pure status/debuff spells in-game bypass SPD and just check target RES.
Killia (Disgaea 5) vs. Lemina (Lunar 2) - Equips Sword and yeah, 2HKOs first.

6-5 with one abstain, so...  Seems like he fits in this range.  Of course, this is also assuming I've done my math right.

17
GODLIKE

Sephiroth (FF7) vs. Shania (SH3) - See Nama below, since we mostly share views how bosses work.

MIDDLE

CHAMELEON MAN (WA3) vs. Kazan (Legaia 2) - I'm going to laugh if this match has to coinflip 0 votes due to everyone abstaining.

LIGHT

Natan (SH3) vs. Guile (CC) - Tankier and more damage.

18
GODLIKE

Winners:
Belial (WA4) vs. Shania (SH3) - Math checked, Belial 2HKOs before Shania gets a turn even without 4D pocket.

MIDDLE

Winners:
Bartholomew Fatima (XG) vs. Kazan (Legaia 2) - So I can't actually vote on this match, but it caught my eye, and I decided to do some napkin math in favor of Kazan in chat.
Quote
Let's see...  If Kazan does go for the Cyclone Doublet, he outspeeds Bart (since my 1 SD = 20% means that Kazan would have 101.6% speed), he could...  Maybe not get 2HKOed and get some free damage off first.
(Even as low as 10% per SD would let him outspeed.)

Okay, assuming Cyclone Doublet lets him outspeed...  And that he starts a match with 0 AP...  He has 13 Art Blocks, so DDDUUURRULRUD gives Double Fists, Double Kick, Critical Thrust, and Skyshaker ending at +6 AP.  Eyeballing damages of some other things, that would land at...  ~15K damage, with the topic saying he'd have about a 30% chance each of ID and Stun.

The difference between 14K or 15K doesn't matter too much.  What matters is that Bart has to use Blue Cologne first or just lose from that, Kazan uses Earth Power #1 for another 11700, Bart smacks him with the Black Snake and after that Kazan 3HKOs with Earth Power regardless, and this is before factoring in that Bart takes a lot more damage from magic.  Someone want to check my math on that?

LIGHT

Losers:
Sten (BoF2) vs. Natan (SH3) - Someone else can do this math, this makes my head hurt, on top of me trying to decide if I still allow Natan having Paralysis 3 on his weapon (personal quest boss reward).

19
GODLIKE

Lamington (Disgaea) vs. Riou (S2)

HEAVY

Ness (Earthbound) vs. Millenia (G2) - If Harken hadn't robbed Ness of his deserved win in round 1, he wouldn't be getting eliminated here.

MIDDLE

Squall Leonhart (FF8) vs Lich (FF1)

LIGHT

Paula (EB) vs. Sten (BoF2)
Natan (SH3) vs. Kain Highwind (FF4)
Zell Dincht (FF8) vs. Palmer (FF7)

GODLIKE
Mewtwo (PKMN) vs. Yuri Volte Hyuga (SHs) - RBY Mewtwo for me and pretty sure NEB's right on the money. Mewtwo getting the first turn means it gets the jump on the buffing game between the two and after 2 Barriers, it can probably tank an Energy Charge/Rage without issue. Not sure where people heard about innate elements being added to SH2 physicals. Maybe it's a SH1 thing, but definitely not for SH2. It would be extremely noticeable if that was the case on Terada.

Thank you for clearing that one up for me.

Quote
Crono (CT) vs. Stocke (RH) - Unless Crono blocked Fire, pretty sure Stocke has this one. A case of one person hitting the wrong defense and the other hitting the right one.

If it helps, Crono can go into a source of "storebought" Fire Resist armor: The Ruby Armor.  Bought in Prehistoria for 10 of each tradable, and blocks Fire by 80%.

GODLIKE

Mewtwo (PKMN) vs. Yuri Volte Hyuga (SHs) - I had the stupidest thought: innate elements are applied to a character's physicals unless overwritten with an Edge spell, so a For Everyone, Energy Charge physical from Somnion instead of Dark Seraphim should hit weakness on Mewtwo.  Need Tide to confirm, but I remember this being a thing.  EDIT: Cleared up by Tide.  I'm not sure where I heard this before now.
Ryu (BoF2) vs. Sephiroth (FF7) - I'm with Nama on this one.

HEAVY

Naoto Shirogane (P4) vs. Edge (FF4) - Does Naoto get Miori Shirt hype anymore?
Ness (Earthbound) vs. Ike (FEs) - Ike 3HKOs Ness with a crit.  Ness needs to land Paralysis once.

MIDDLE

Ashley Winchester (WA2) vs. Squall Leonhart (FF8) - Ashley barely misses Full Clip with Squall's damage and gets 2HKOed still.

LIGHT

Thief (FF5) vs. Paula (EB) - 4HKOs vs. 6HKOs, and for the extra nail the first three shots has a chance of solidifying Thief for a turn.
Natan (SH3) vs. Pikachu (PKMN) - Surely.
Jogurt (ShF1) vs. Zell Dincht (FF8) - SURELY.

22
GODLIKE

Mewtwo (PKMN) vs. Yuna (FFX) - I feel like Yuna's going to champ because Aeon Parade and there's nothing anyone can do about it.  Can I say I considered nomming Yuna because Godlike rep from Dissidia, but decided against it because of how degenerate Yuna is in Godlike?
Riou (Suiko2) vs. Yuri Volte Hyuga (SHs) - I'll go with Super's assessment here.

LIGHT

Jogurt (ShF1) vs. Guile (CC) - Jogurt wakes up in the hospital after a fever dream where he champed Godlike.  The reason he's in the hospital?  There was a stiff breeze on the way to his match.
Zell Dincht (FF8) vs. Sten (BoF2) - Yeah, I can get behind the argument of proper chipping.

23
GODLIKE

Belial (WA4) vs. Ryu (BoF3) - Some day, I need to decide how I really feel about 4D Pocket.  For now though, I see no reason to disallow it.
Shania (SH3) vs. Lamington (Disgaea) - I'm open to arguments, but I really want to say that Shania can just outlast him here.

HEAVY

Naoto Shirogane (P4) vs. Golbez (FF4:TAY) - If what I'm reading on the stat topic is right, Pressure is turn 3.  Also Miori Shirt?
Edge (FF4) vs. Worker 8 (FFT) - I think I check if the PC lives through backlash damage first before checking if the enemy is dead.
Ness (Earthbound) vs. Lady Harken (WA:ACF) - Pure Damage - especially pure physical damage - is not how you beat Ness.

MIDDLE

Empoleon (PKMN) vs. Squall (FF8) - Does this mean Pokken is better than Dissidia?
Kazan (Legaia 2) vs. Koromaru (P3) - Koromaru has to land 30% ID twice to win, and has Hi-Counter to try to prolong his chances.  Kazan needs four turns (just shy of that 3TKO thanks to Koromaru HP) that Hi-Counter doesn't proc, and has the bonus that he wins if he manages to inflict Stun in the meanwhile.

LIGHT

Thief (FF5) vs. Palmer (FF7) - Huh.  Don't wanna think, I'll leave it to other people.
Pikachu (PKMN) vs. Locke (FF6) - Repeat: don't wanna think.

So I finally got around to finishing the main plot of Disgaea 5.  Standard Disgaea fare, absolutely ridiculous numbers available early (though not early enough).  This was a case where I picked up a file that I started five years ago, and I'd forgotten several of the plot beats until I looked them up.  This particular game suffers a *lot* from the story being too long, kind of if a Tales game had its filler third of the game right in the 3/6-5/6 point.

Killia - Bog standard protagonist.  Fists and Swords are both good, and getting a skill that lets him have some range on his skills with fists, while picking up a few single target nukes way later on.  Gimmick: stress eating.  Afraid of his anger issues.  He doesn't have very much past, "I want revenge, gotta get stronger, gotta keep my evil side suppressed." Eventually it changes to "I accept my evil side, and I want to stop others from being hurt."  He almost seemed like he'd be getting over Lieze, and then Void Dark brings her back for a happily ever after out of nowhere.  Just a generally forgettable character.

Seraphina - She's the driving force of the game, and the main reason the heroes are able to do anything at all.  She left home because she was protesting an arranged marriage to the main villain, and instead ran away to go assassinate him.  I'm going to be completely honest.  She gets a lot of my ire probably undeserved, because she's a fairly strong character in her own right.  She just has the issues of me seeing her being a more tropey version of Rosalin from D2, and her character chapter not really doing much for her in terms of character growth, AND said chapter coming in a point where I was already suffering from story pacing fatigue.  "Nooooo, I don't want to be poor!...  Wait, I don't give a shit about that."  She's all guns guns guns and damage, and a little bit of turn stun with charm on male units.  She honestly makes it work, since being out of range of counters with her durability is a very, very good thing.

Red Magnus - This is a character that...  I don't remember much of!  Seeing as when I picked the game back up I was already in Chapter 8, the very next chapter was Red Magnus's character growth, and he didn't do very much after that, aside from saying "SUPER" as his verbal tic.  Axes may be strong, but none of his moves felt like they had the power or range to really justify using any of them.  He wound up staying in the Capture Squad after that.

Christo - Probably the best written character in the game.  Starts out trying to manipulate the party into killing Void Dark for him.  Over the course of the game, he has his preconceived beliefs constantly challenged, and while he's frustrating and often showing off his racism to demons, he DOES get to a point that he's willing to consider this little dysfunctional group his allies and, more importantly, his friends.  In fact, his first real friends since he never really got to a point where he made attachments to anyone in Celestia.  I do like the running joke that everyone already knows that Christo is an angel, but goes along with his bad attempts to masquerade as a demon.  So in combat...  Staves and Bows.  He comes with a Bow, but I stuck a Staff on him and found I did fine between him learning the first three levels of Heal and his uniques.

Usalia - Hey, video game writers.  Need an example of a well written child character?  Here you go.  With (or despite) the writing...  Strength...  Of this cast, she immediately improves the quality of any scene she's in, even more than Christo...  Though I still say Christo is the better character.  Starts out a monster that you have to feed curry to restore her to her normal form.  Come to find out Majorita murdered her parents and she's at wits end because she can't eat her favorite food, and has to eat her most hated food to keep a curse at bay.  Really a scared little girl under all the cute.  Gets her power up once she realizes that yes, her parents really did love her after Marjorita attacked.  She's the token Monster-class story PC, which means she can Magichange into a Fist.  Combos really well with Killia.

Zeroken - Former member of the Lost.  Jealous of Killia because he got to train under Goldion directly, but he gets better.  Not very smart, but decently strong and very fast.  He's written to be kind of...  Softly blunt, just in a way that I like dealing with people.  Unfortunately, due to training mostly the same way as Killia, he's built the same way, which means they're competing for weapons for a while.  Zeroken is better with AoEs, but by the time you unlock the really good ones, you have enough AoEs that he somewhat falls short of the things you'd really like him to do.  The last AoE he gets is a little awkward as well, though the range is pretty wide.

I feel like for in-game use, it's...  Killia > Seraphina > Christo > Usalia > Zeroken > Red Magnus...
...For character writing: Christo >= Usalia > Zeroken > Killia > Red Magnus, with Seraphina going I don't know where under Usalia, because I have to admit I'm rating her unfairly.

Finished the game with a Sage at level 800 spamming Land Destroyer every turn to build up Bonus Gauge, then a L2000 Killia cleaning up the rest.  Got the trophy for getting 50 One Time Bonuses on the same stage as killing the final boss.

Just starting to get into the Postgame now, and I already have Killia at 4K, and a Rabbit at 3.5K.
