Think about it this way. Even if you bought it digitally from Origin, there is still a code that you need to get and put in. You have already given them your money and established that you have purchased it. But hey, got to input a second code just cause.

Meanwhile, Jon Huntsman remains the only candidate that I consider both sane and credible. (Refused to sign the NOM pledge, reiterated that he felt it was a states rights issue, and even explicitly said that he's ok with same sex marriage in New York and Iowa).

Microsoft has had a long-standing policy about no guns for avatars on Xbox Live. Mind you, this is from the system whose main claim to fame is shooting games. Anyway, when Gears of War 3 came out, suddenly you could buy gun props. Now they're taking them away from the marketplace, but not until January 1 (cha-ching! $$$). And you'll be able to keep them if you already have them. Face=palm.

Ok, to begin with, the judge is saying that Sweden's rape law is formulated like so: in order for a defendant to be guilty of rape...
The defendant must intend to have sex with the victim.
The defendant must have sex with the victim.
The victim must not consent to the sex.
The defendant must intend the sex to be non-consensual.

In the US rape laws are formulated a lot of different ways, but here is what I would say is standard:
The defendant must intend to have sex with the victim.
The defendant must have sex with the victim.
The victim must not consent to the sex.
~~The defendant must intend the sex to be non-consensual.~~
Despite the victim's lack of actual consent, the defendant may raise an affirmative defense of 'mistake of fact' where the defendant alleges that based on the circumstances of the sex, the defendant honestly believed the sex to be consensual. But only if that honest belief is objectively reasonable.

I don't know if Swedish criminal law actually operates like that judge says it operates, but in the US, it would not fly. And let's be honest, the acquittal in Sweden relied on the judge's credibility determination - the judge decided that the defendant was being honest when the defendant asserted that he thought the victim consented. Who knows, maybe the judge is right. Seems pretty damn unlikely, though.

Even if the judge followed the technical rule of law in Sweeden, that means the law is stupid and should be changed. There's definitely stupidity somewhere in this equation.

As far as I know, there is no requirement that the defendant must have intended for the sex to be non-consentual in Swedish law. No sources I've checked says anything about it. It looks to me like the judge just made something up. This is also not the worst case I've read about in Sweden. There was one case where a girl was raped by six guys. The judge concluded that the guys did have sex with her and that she didn't consent. However, he still didn't consider it rape and cited a bogus claim about "girl sex" as reason.
