Music Tournament of DOOM mk3 ~Pool 16~

I think you know the drill by now. Copy the match ups below and bold which song you like better. The names are links to a stream of the song.

If there are any mistakes, please let me know ASAP so we can fix them.

I will put up a new pool every half week and they will all be open for a week as well. If enough people don't like this pace, I am willing to change the schedule, but let's roll with this and see how it goes.

MAIN TOURNAMENT
Final Fantasy Legend II - Save the World VS. Rogue Galaxy - Galaxy Public Corporation
Wild ARMs 4 - as time goes by ~Never Forget Me~ VS. Umineko no Naku Koro Ni - Happiness of marionette- A pox on the WA4 english singer.  Why couldn't they get the girl who did WA3 back?  She put her heart into Wings.
Breath of Fire IV - Bastard Sword VS. Shadow Hearts - Imbroglio-  Huh.  A BoFIV song besides Endings and Beginnings I like.  But, Imbroglio's just... I dunno.  Quirky and emotive.
Wild ARMs 3 - Gunmetal Action VS. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - Dance of Pales- Not bad on either part.  Gunmetal Action gets a boost from the general style of WA3 though.

SaGa Frontier - Despair VS. Xenogears - Awakening
Castlevania: Judgment - Bloody Tears VS. Eternal Poison - Shinjitsu wo Shirumono- ooh.  Harsh.  In a good way.  Jars the soul.  Underscores pain and drama.  Very nice.
Fate/Stay realta Nua - Motome Au Kokoro VS. Tales of Symphonia - Last Battle -Decision-
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner - An Old Foe VS. Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2 - Decisive Battle - I envison Jim shaking his fists at Hatbot while swearing sweet, sensuous revenge via his mother.  Anyway, I like the way Decisive Battle jumps out and grabs your attention before going into Meguro Rock.

ANIME
Super Robot Wars Original Generation Divine Wars - Break Out VS. sola - Colorless Wind- Mmm.  well, when in doubt I normally say Female>Male for vocals, but eh, on the other hand, in the battle of cheese, SRW > Not SRW, I think that wins.
Tsubasa Chronicles - A song of storm and fire VS. Steelgod Jeeg - Stormbringer-  Huh.  more Kajiura.  Oh well, Strombringer isn't nearly as fun of cheese as Break Out.

ARRANGED
Etrian Odyssey II - Yggdrasika 2 - Battlefield - Shiver VS. Final Fantasy X - OCRemix - Via- If nothing else, I like this a lot more than the original version.  Feels like a good tiebreak.
The Legend of Zelda: Orcarina of Time - Saria's Oath Spooky Groove Remix VS. Final Fantasy VI - Piano Fantasy - Game Music Piano Arrange - Dark World - Al Piano Wire [FF6]

Final Fantasy Legend II - Save the World VS. Rogue Galaxy - Galaxy Public Corporation - Hmm, don't feel too strongly here. Guess I like GPC better?
Wild ARMs 4 - as time goes by ~Never Forget Me~ VS. Umineko no Naku Koro Ni - Happiness of marionette - Latter song is decent, but I like Never Forget Me quite a bit today.
Breath of Fire IV - Bastard Sword VS. Shadow Hearts - Imbroglio - There's this soft honking sound that repeats all through Imbroglio that grates on me so very badly. Decent song otherwise, but man do little background noises like that drive me nuts.
Wild ARMs 3 - Gunmetal Action VS. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - Dance of Pales - Feeling the WA style right now. Not a fan of CV music in general, so.

SaGa Frontier - Despair VS. Xenogears - Awakening - Nom power. Probably works better in game, since it just fits the feel of "prison break time~" so well.
Castlevania: Judgment - Bloody Tears VS. Eternal Poison - Shinjitsu wo Shirumono - I say I don't go for CV music, then vote for Bloody Tears. Then again, it IS CV:J, and thus probably doesn't count.
Fate/Stay realta Nua - Motome Au Kokoro VS. Tales of Symphonia - Last Battle -Decision- - I was still waiting for the first one to actually start...when I checked the time left and noticed it was almost over. Yeah.
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner - An Old Foe VS. Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2 - Decisive Battle - Hmm. Could swing either way here.

Final Fantasy Legend II - Save the World VS. Rogue Galaxy - Galaxy Public Corporation-A have to give it to Save the World because it was good despite having to put up with GB sound limitations. Rogue Galaxy song was just okay.

Final Fantasy Legend II - Save the World VS. Rogue Galaxy - Galaxy Public Corporation: I am pretty anti 8-bit but Save the World is good and would be great if properly remade. GPC is not the best of Nishiura's setting themes.
Wild ARMs 4 - as time goes by ~Never Forget Me~ VS. Umineko no Naku Koro Ni - Happiness of marionette: Not feeling WA vocals.
Breath of Fire IV - Bastard Sword VS. Shadow Hearts - Imbroglio: Agh. Both are fight themes I like. Voting for Imbroglio's majestic doomy doom this time.
Wild ARMs 3 - Gunmetal Action VS. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - Dance of Pales: Both are dead average for what they are.

SaGa Frontier - Despair VS. Xenogears - Awakening: Sweet little spy theme versus trying way too hard.
Castlevania: Judgment - Bloody Tears VS. Eternal Poison - Shinjitsu wo Shirumono: Judgment got a few things right!

Breath of Fire IV - Bastard Sword VS. Shadow Hearts - Imbroglio: Haha SH1 music. Bastard Sword is my least favourite BoF4 battle track but it's still good enough here.
Wild ARMs 3 - Gunmetal Action VS. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - Dance of Pales: Odd choice for SotN there. Can't say it's one I especially care for. Gunmetal is solid enough.

Final Fantasy Legend II - Save the World VS. Rogue Galaxy - Galaxy Public Corporation - Oh God, nostalgia bomb. It hurts so good. Galaxy Public Corporation makes it a close fight, though.
Wild ARMs 4 - as time goes by ~Never Forget Me~ VS. Umineko no Naku Koro Ni - Happiness of marionette - Delightfully bizarre.
Breath of Fire IV - Bastard Sword VS. Shadow Hearts - Imbroglio
Wild ARMs 3 - Gunmetal Action VS. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - Dance of Pales - Dance of Pales is one of my favorite SotN tracks. Not really sure why, but I just always liked it.

Etrian Odyssey II - Yggdrasika 2 - Battlefield - Shiver VS. Final Fantasy X - OCRemix - Via - Good to see Via get back in. It got a sucky draw last time in the Arranged Game Music tourney, as I recall. Shiver is pretty good too, but not quite good enough.
The Legend of Zelda: Orcarina of Time - Saria's Oath Spooky Groove Remix VS. Final Fantasy VI - Piano Fantasy - Game Music Piano Arrange - Dark World - Al Piano Wire [FF6] - Weird track...not quite sure if I like it or not. It's got me interested, though, so let's keep it around a bit longer.

Final Fantasy Legend II - Save the World VS. Rogue Galaxy - Galaxy Public Corporation - Bad vs. Good, easy choice.
Wild ARMs 4 - as time goes by ~Never Forget Me~ VS. Umineko no Naku Koro Ni - Happiness of marionette - Decent lyrics, but Marionette is a fun tune.
Breath of Fire IV - Bastard Sword VS. Shadow Hearts - Imbroglio - Man. This is a terrible match, especially after that last pool.
Wild ARMs 3 - Gunmetal Action VS. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - Dance of Pales - Fun match, both tracks were surprisingly similar and awesome.

SaGa Frontier - Despair VS. Xenogears - Awakening - Generic vs. good, I'll take it.
Castlevania: Judgment - Bloody Tears VS. Eternal Poison - Shinjitsu wo Shirumono - Awesome match. One Who Knows slows down a little too much for my liking, so Tears takes it.
Fate/Stay realta Nua - Motome Au Kokoro VS. Tales of Symphonia - Last Battle -Decision- - Painfully dull vs. an old favourite. Easiest match in the pool so far.
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner - An Old Foe VS. Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2 - Decisive Battle - asdfsdgfdh. SMT vs SMT? Both awesome rock style SMT? Dammit Hatbot!

Super Robot Wars Original Generation Divine Wars - Break Out VS. sola - Colorless Wind - Both are good, but Break Out is much more my sorta thing.
Tsubasa Chronicles - A song of storm and fire VS. Steelgod Jeeg - Stormbringer - Ooh, tough match. Took a few listens to each. In the end, Stormbringer is more my style.

Etrian Odyssey II - Yggdrasika 2 - Battlefield - Shiver VS. Final Fantasy X - OCRemix - Via - ahaha this is so not close.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - Saria's Oath Spooky Groove Remix VS. Final Fantasy VI - Piano Fantasy - Game Music Piano Arrange - Dark World - Al Piano Wire [FF6] - The Saria one surprised me - a lot of Zelda remixes I've heard are terrible - but Dark World is atmospheric, haunting and pleasant to listen to at the same time. Good match, though.

Wild ARMs 4 - as time goes by ~Never Forget Me~ VS. Umineko no Naku Koro Ni - Happiness of marionette - Becomes better if you keep in mind this plays during a scene where a woman is killed by suffocating her in cake. (cake is not a lie)

Wild ARMs 4 - as time goes by ~Never Forget Me~ VS. Umineko no Naku Koro Ni - Happiness of marionette: Eh, sure, I'm not that big on WA vocals not from WA3.
Breath of Fire IV - Bastard Sword VS. Shadow Hearts - Imbroglio: Outright better and needed to be in one of these tourneys for a while now.
Wild ARMs 3 - Gunmetal Action VS. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - Dance of Pales: SotN has some good tracks, but WA3 is usually going to win out with me.

SaGa Frontier - Despair VS. Xenogears - Awakening: I like a lot of SF's soundtrack, but this isn't one of the standouts.
Castlevania: Judgment - Bloody Tears VS. Eternal Poison - Shinjitsu wo Shirumono: I guess. The other isn't bad mood music, at least.
Fate/Stay realta Nua - Motome Au Kokoro VS. Tales of Symphonia - Last Battle -Decision-: Real easy. Actually has a notable melody.
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner - An Old Foe VS. Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2 - Decisive Battle: This match amuses me.

Super Robot Wars Original Generation Divine Wars - Break Out VS. sola - Colorless Wind: Coinflip of meh.
Tsubasa Chronicles - A song of storm and fire VS. Steelgod Jeeg - Stormbringer: Haha, parts of this were lifted from the XS3 final battle (or vice versa, or both sampled the same source). Still not a bad song, though.

Like what both do, gonna Audiosurf for the winner of this one. EDIT: Both are decent, but Decisive Battle has a fun, inconsistant speed that leads to a jerky run, which is always great

Tsubasa Chronicles - A song of storm and fire VS. Steelgod Jeeg - Stormbringer - Gonna break with people on this one. Tsubasa sounds like every song Kajiura's ever done mashed together. It does it well! But... still. It sounds like 10 other Kajiura songs at points. Stormbringer is fun too.

I am not entirely on the hate-WA-vocals-band but I am for this song.  "I reach out to the sky because you are there" is much better than this.  Meanwhile Happiness is weird.  And...  wait... suffocating... cake?!
Breath of Fire IV - Bastard Sword VS. Shadow Hearts - Imbroglio
SH1 is one of the weirdest and most creative soundtracks ever, and the Metagod fight theme certainly stands out.  Magestic doomy indeed.  And Bastard Sword isn't even anything special.
Wild ARMs 3 - Gunmetal Action VS. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - Dance of Pales
Odd choice from SotN but an eminently high quality mood piece.  Good orchestration, works in some drama, nice spooky touches, etc.  Easy win.

SaGa Frontier - Despair VS. Xenogears - Awakening
Odd track title.  This is slums of Midgar dungeon music but not really despair-y.  Tough draw anyway.
Castlevania: Judgment - Bloody Tears VS. Eternal Poison - Shinjitsu wo Shirumono
Judgment probably has one of the best versions of Bloody Tears, which is a great tune hampered only by the fact that it's really short (as it was designed for NES).  Still, will opt for the more complete piece of music.  Very nice mood, good piano.  Great match.
Fate/Stay realta Nua - Motome Au Kokoro VS. Tales of Symphonia - Last Battle -Decision-
Motome sounds like it's totally ripping off the synth from the Secret of Mana Water Palace in the beginning, I'd just like to say.  Both are good but feel like they don't quite do enough?  Also pick the Mithos battle music next time rather than the Derris-Kharland music.
