Tournaments / Re: In game use topic round 2- Tri ace staredown in Godlike.
« on: February 27, 2010, 02:24:12 AM »
Godlike:

Rena Lanford (SO2) vs Lenneth Valkyrie (VP1)

Heavy:

Claude Kenni (SO2) vs Millenia (G2): Millenia's not around nearly enough to put up much of a fight here.
Kevin (SD3) vs Sharon (LoL2)

Middle:

Crono (CT) vs Hahn Mahlay (PS4)
Angelo (DQ8) vs Jude Maverick (WA4)

Light:

Gala (LoL1) vs Ayne (LoL2)

27
Don't usually vote in these, but it's worth a go.

Godlike:

Souji Seta (P4) vs Ramza Beoulve (FFT): Souji starts slow but ends strong, and can get access to a lot of things the rest of the party can't get.  Ramza has a couple of nice but not particularly stellar unique abilities, but is otherwise a generic with better stats.

Zemeckis (Brig) Vs KOS-MOS (XS1): Good but replaceable vs. the only thing keeping his side afloat.

Heavy:

Cecil Harvey (FF4) vs Georg Prime (S5): Would probably be closer if S5 wasn't full of other broken things and Georg didn't take off every five minutes.

Middle:

Zidane Tribal (FF9) vs Kent (FE7): Occasionally handy skillset > guy who gets benched the moment the good units start coming in.

Lexis Shaia (Lufia 2) vs Roan (G2): Lexis has his uses.  Roan...  Doesn't leave much of an impression early on, and when he comes back later on Tio's usually murdering everything with Lotus Flower off of 3~4x average speed.

Light:

Kain Highwind (FF4) vs Mithra (VP2): He can hurt stuff and take hits, which is more than a VP2 mage can hope for.

Onix: -For this division, vote for the worst of the two given PC's.

Tony (XF) vs Adam (SF1) :Haven't played XF, but however much Tony fails it can't be worse than Adam.

Am I misremembering, or did Algus come back as Dark Knight Argath for a one-shot Day-vig near the end?  I think I remember something like that happening, at least.  Might have just been end-of-day flavor.

Actually, I'm not sure.  Need to check on availabilities again.  I know some Blue stuff's floor 7, and I imagine stuff like Bahamut and Meteor might be too.

Think they did, but in that fight he'd probably have Odin ready to go.  And there's always Quick->Stopx2.

I could be remembering things wrong, that huge added constant doesn't help matters.

The base HP would though, and it's pretty substantial on it's own.  And from what I've seen in the topics, Pika and Lucario are both a bit slower than Bartz, so they'd be stuck with Quick Hit if they wanted to beat him out.  In the end it comes down to how much you respect Falcon Rune, but even with the lowest S2 average they'd all have to pile in on him to take him down before he gets a turn off.

Bartz's options?  Off the top of my head, sticking with the more relevant stuff, Time gives Quick, X-Zone for 50% MT ID, Slowga, and Stop.  Mix, aside from the healing, gives a bunch of buffs and Berserk.  Summon will, as he gets levels in it, give some more high accuracy status options and high accuracy MT ID in Odin, MT Reflect with Carbunkle, and a physical damage shield with Golem.  He's also sitting on 130%ish HP and has counters, if that helps.

As for Ditto, it turns out Speed Powder flat out doubles speed, so he's probably going first in most fights.  Uh, if memory serves, at least.  I do remember hearing it mentioned though.

And I think I have seen Lucia's revival spell on her list, but she's never actually cast the thing.  Might be scripted to only go off if Hiro somehow manages to fail it up against the last plot-ish fight against Zophar or something.

Wouldn't Peppita go and status out everyone but Robo in that case?  And at this point, if Ditto's Transforming everyone, it's probably better to go Bartz for the giant pile of options(and the piles of HP, but that's beside the point~)

Super and CT pass easily.  I also pass, but it's a lot closer in places.  Quick helps a great deal here, but I think I can eke by even if I don't have it.  Abstain on Neph.

Aeris just sticks with her L1s and drops a Seal Evil on the team if Killey goes for Final Flame, which pretty much ends things right there as Fogel/Bartz then stomp Karin and get the next few turns to heal/revive as necessary before wrapping things up.  If they try to chip past it, that's just giving Bartz and Peppita time to unload status.

Djinn goes down and I pass.  Abstain on Gate/Neph.

Me, Gate, and Djinn pass, several ugly fights for the teams, but should be able to squeak through.  Abstain on Neph.

CT: Those are the classes Bartz has mastered, he's currently a Blue Mage with a speed boost slotted in his open spot.

Edit:  Everyone passes.  Going with Super's summary.  I'd abstain on Neph, but it's only floor 2.

Man, you're so wrong about Shauna in just about all counts. >_> Just keep playing.

Don't usually do this, but yeah, quoting for emphasis.

Jade Empire: Finished, game goes by quickly once you start getting the really broken stuff, fully upgraded Crimson Tears in focus mode obliterates things, and it's only one of the I Win buttons the game hands you.  Usual Bioware morality stuff, they largely stop trying to pretend that Closed Fist isn't evil by chapter 3.

PWI: Tried it out earlier as well, didn't get all that far as I was also refreshing myself on the new stuff at the same time.  And yeah, very very choppy in the new town, and it'd have been impossible to get anything done had I not been reminded of the shift key and it's ability to ignore a few dozen high level players on oversized mounts sitting on questgivers.  Would have gone back in later to mess around a bit more, but...

TF2: HEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAADDDDSSSSSS.   Worked on Demo achievements long enough to unlock the Targe, then the Steam servers popped back on for a bit and wound up getting the rest of the Demo unlocks fairly quickly after that.  Haven't tried the new Soldier stuff, but the ones outrunning Scouts with the new pickaxe and the arrow-speed rockets look nice as well.

Bumped into my old PC game collection a while back, decided to give a few of them another whirl.  And man, I completely forgot about how unforgiving Majesty can get on some stages.
