Someone needs to bring a Wii U w/ Smash because, you know, 8 Player Captain Falcons.  Controllers shouldn't be a big deal since any Wii-controller works on it and 3DS' can be used in worst case scenario as extra controllers.

We can bring Wii U + Smash + Mario Kart, along with various controllers, though obviously anyone who wants to bring their own controller would be helpful. Can also bring Soul Calibur of some form if Andy doesn't have that already, I suppose PS2 is the easiest due to glorious memory cards.

I actually do not have any forms of Soul Calibur Laying around.

Games I'm bringing:

Hanafuda
Gloom
Key to the Kingdom (Boardgame from childhood I loved, recently e-bayed)
The Captain is Dead (Kickstarted game, Co-op game in which you take on the roles of the crew to save the ship after the Captain dies)

Possibly Bringing
Galaxy of Trian (Kickstarted game. Strategy, Fighting over a galaxy you explore as you conquer. Shipped but still has yet to arrive)

Bowling is a definite. Mini-Golf is a want but not a need.

Lacking that one. Just the core expansions.

I'm down for bowling. I could borrow a Wii-U from Drac, but if Elfiatos are bringing one down it would be better not to need to. I don't much like borrowing things anymore. <_<

I can bring Bang! the card game? I have the special anniversary edition.

While I personally will not be attending, I do have a small collection of board games.  If there is stated interest, and those who are intending to go there from my neck of the woods do not mind transporting them, I would be more than willing to send some along.

Game List (so folks can express interest/state copy will already be available)
Akrotiri
Love Letter
Eight Minute Empire
Timeline
Innovation (this one basically lives with the Elf and Ciatos anyways these days)
Bloodbowl Team Manager (w/ both expansions)
Clash of Cultures
Last Will (no expansion)
History of the World
Colosseum
Asgard
Puerto Rico (Would be kinda shocked if this wasn't already there)

I don't remember if we still have it, but at some point we had all of Bang!. I'll check when I get home.

--

We actually only have Love Letter and Bloodbowl Team Manager.

Who needs Puerto Rico when you have Archipelago?
Title: Re: DLC X: Stuff to Do/Things Possessed
Post by: Excal on July 16, 2015, 08:02:26 PM
Huh, I had heard that Archipelago had a really divisive joint loss conditions that lowered it's rating.  Certainly why it never got popular enough in my own gaming circles for me to have gotten a chance to play it.
Title: Re: DLC X: Stuff to Do/Things Possessed
Post by: Lady Door on July 22, 2015, 06:11:27 PM
I ragequit Archipelago the first time I played it (which was the first time anyone played it, and thus we played it horribly wrong) so I'm not the best source for rating its quality.

[EDIT: List of games owned cut since Andrew posted an updated version below.]
Title: Re: DLC X: Stuff to Do/Things Possessed
Post by: Lady Door on July 22, 2015, 06:33:05 PM
Some of those I would need to tell friends we wanted to play, since we borrow things now and then.

--

BOWLING!

It looks like we're clear of league play, so it's just a matter of whether you want to go Friday or Saturday. Friday is $1.50/game + shoe rental, but that also means it'll probably be popular with the locals. I can also call and reserve 1-2 lanes if I know we're going to have 8 or 16+ people participating.

MINI GOLF!

We have a normal course and a Bay Area-special indoor course (which also has track cars and a mini, mini arcade). Driving is required for either one so we'd also need to plan for that.

KARAOKE!

Those of you who were at DLC 5 will know this place already, but the one close to the house is a bar with a stage in the back. We could go Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night. We haven't done one with rooms so we'd have to find that if people were interested.

OTHER PLACES TO GO, THINGS TO SEE!

The only Kinokuniya in the Bay Area is in SF Japantown's mall. It's pretty big, especially for a store in SF! The Japantown mall is pretty weird/interesting by itself.

There are a TON of games and comics stores in the area. We have a comics shop near the house, a GameStop in the shopping plaza, and a wide variety of board game shops if we go further afield (at least two of which are easily BART accessible even accounting for the Transbay Tube closure). If there's a lot of interest in this, we can get into more detail. If you wanna do Friday Night Magic, etc., good to know where to go.

There are 2 sci-fi/fantasy specific book stores in the area, Borderlands in SF and The Other Change of Hobbit in El Cerrito (1 BART stop and a 10 minute walk away).

Beat me to the punch, love. Things I know we no longer have will have strikes, bolds will be additions.

I ragequit Archipelago the first time I played it (which was the first time anyone played it, and thus we played it horribly wrong) so I'm not the best source for rating its quality.

Food stuffs!

There is a grocery store within walking distance, as well as several other fooderies including Rubio's, Pasta Pomodoro, Wing Stop, Chipotle, IHOP (I think), Starbucks, and some local nonsense. Adding delivery or just a little bit of driving adds pretty much every popular fast food chains and every type of cuisine you could possibly want.

There are two grocery stores in walking distance: Lucky's and Trader Joe's.

Fast food also includes Nation's (pies and burgers), Jamba Juice, Panda Express, KFC, Farmer's Market on Saturday. Taco Bell if you feel like walking down past the bowling alley. There's a Macaroni Grill. An awesome German deli/sandwich place.

Chase, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo branches for banking needs.

Alternate transportation options for getting to where you want to go without a car or walking:

Buses. Ferries. Cabs. Lyft/Uber/Sidecar.

Buses
We are very close to a "highway" (just a particularly busy thoroughfare). The bus you most likely will want for local service is the 72 (or 72M, 72R). This'll get you from El Cerrito to Berkeley and Oakland. If you wanted to, but I very much do not recommend, you could also go up toward Richmond.

There is also a bus that will take you to San Francisco! Two buses, I guess. It will take just under an hour. You take the 72 to Oakland then get on the F.  Once you're in SF you'll probably need to the local SF transport to get to where you want to go, including Japantown.

Basically, if you want to do things in SF on the weekend, expect to be there most of the day.

Fares:
Local, $2.10/ride ($5/day if you ask for it when you pay)
Transbay, $4.20/ride

Ferry

Get to downtown Oakland (via BART or bus), walk down to the water, take a ferry. This'll also take a while.

Fare:
$6.40/trip
$1.50 short hop (Oakland to Alameda or Pier 1 to Pier 41)

Uber, Lyft, Sidecar
The most direct, point-to-point trip. Hire a car! Expect to pay ~$30-35 per car. They can usually take 3ish people. There's also an option for a more expensive but bigger car.

I assume BART is still the best way to get into SF on days that aren't Saturday or Sunday?

I see you took the death of fun in Arkham firmly in hand.

Are you guys Eldrich Horrored out also?  I am more intellectually interested in it than having a burning desire for Lovecraft board games.

Not yet! Mansions of Madness is also fun now that we have the expansion, which un-broke it.

I'd personally love to go to one of the SF/Fantasy bookstores myself.

Eldritch Horror
Mansions of Madness
Letters from Whitechapel
Space Alert
The Resistance: Avalon (which I believe is also normal Resistance if you just don't play the extra thingies, so crossing that out is kind of redundant?)
Twilight Sparkle's Secret Shipfic Folder

Seeing these games on the list makes me sad I am not going.  If I was there these are what I would want to play.  Keep that in mind if people have a hard time deciding what to play!

I haven't ever actually been to The Other Change of Hobbit, and I love Borderlands, so I'm down!

Forgot to put on the list one more game we (recently) "acquired": Gloom with the Unwelcome Guests expansion.

Also a copy of To Be or Not To Be, because choose your own adventure Hamlet is best in groups.

These are the games I am planning to bring over on Wednesday:

Betrayal at the House on the Hill
Mansions of Madness
Eldritch Horror
Terra Mystica
Dominion
Lords of Waterdeep
Letters from Whitechapel
Tragedy Looper
Krossmaster Arena

Condotierre
Tichu

Gloom

If you were looking to play something else on this list (http://www.rpgdl.com/forums/index.php/topic,6710.msg176340.html#msg176340) let me know so I can add it to this list. I can always go back and get most games if I have to but I'd rather not.
