Tournaments / Re: Futurama 2011 Season 2, Week 3: We <3 Suikoden
« on: November 20, 2011, 07:02:56 AM »
Tengaar (Suikoden Series) vs Brad Evans (Wild ARMs 2) - Faster 2HKO

2
Rody (Suikoden III) vs Liepard (Pokémon) - Oh hey, something I could vote on. Liepard's pretty frail, so Rody might actually be able to 4HKO here.  On the other hand, Sand-Attack makes Rody's already meh accuracy even worse, and Hone Claws raises Liepard's own damage to decent levels.

Godlike
Belial (WA4), Lulu (FFX), Jessica Albert (DQ8), KOS-MOS (XS), Lucia (Suikos), Rosa Harvey (FF4)

1. Potential new champ
2-3. Opposite sides of the speed spectrum
4-6. Just rounding things out with some low Godlikes

Heavy:
Groudon (PKMN), Ho-Oh (PKMN), Eileen (S1), Zero (MMXCM), Angela (SD3), Maya Schroedinger (WA3)

1-2. I did promise to nom more Pokemon, so...
3-6. Champ?

Middle:
Beatrice (WA3), Noa (LoL), Lise (SD3), Meredy (ToE), Paine (FFX-2), Tifa Lockheart (FF7)

1. Well, if Elly of all people was able to champ and upgrade with 100% sleep alone...
2. Get back to Heavy, you!
3. As you might guess, I like status whores~
4. To Light!
5. Kinda felt sorry for the lone FFX-2 rep.
6. Solid middle

Light:
Jane Maxwell (WA:ACF), Lyonesse (Brig), Cinnamon (MMXCM), Augst Henriksen (WA4), Maria Balthasar (XG), Liz (WA2)

Godlike:

Millenia (G2) vs Rubicant (FF4) - Boomies

Heavy:

Lilka Eleniak (WA2) vs Lucian (VP1) - Lilka can't buff her evade quick enough. She gets splattered
Queen Zeal (CT) vs 3-Shadow (FF6) - At worst, Hexagon Mist gets Shadow's number. It's a high 3HKO on average defense, so Shadow opting for Gaia Gear should drop his already poor defense to 2HKO-bait range.

Middle:

1-Rudy Roughknight (WA1) vs Warlock (S4) - WA1o Rudy can't kill in one shot. ACF Rudy's going second. Both are OHKOed by Warlock.
Rouge (Saga) vs 4-Tengaar (Suikos) - ...right, JetBoots. With Earthquake blocked, I see Rouge managing to Implode Tengaar before he gets killed.

Light:

1- Zappa (CC) vs Louise (FE7) - Not Louise
Rody (S3) vs Cyan Garamonde (FF6) - Not Rody
Chelsea Torn (ToD) vs Yumei (VP1) - Geez, slapfest. Anyway, agreeing with the 4HKO due to Yumei's HP.

Light: Emma Hetfield (WA:ACF).

5. The best skillset to ever grace Light, saddled with some of the worst stats to shame the division. This gotta count for something.

Emma just got in this season. Lost to Dahna

On Empyrea vs Arnaud, wasn't Empyrea's Grabs Hold attack ITE? Or am I remembering it wrong?

Godlike:

Myria(BoFs) vs Loki(VP) - Boomies

Middle:

White Wizard(FF1) vs Blastoise(Pokemon) - FF1o only, but since WW's faster and Blasty's big guns already has some accuracy problems, evade buffing and healing shenanigans shoud do the trick

Light:

Lucia(L2:EB) vs Yam Koo(S2) - Not Lucia
Mallow(SMRPG) vs Melody(WA3) - Melody's pretty doomed with POIZN blocked

Godlike:

1-Myria (BoFs) vs Sierra Mikain (S2) - Squish
Beatrix (FF9) vs Luca Blight (S2) - Low MP does seem to do Beatrix in here.
Ellen Kirishima (Pers) vs 4-Loki (VP1) - Hits weakness. Curses~

Heavy:

1-Songi (LoL1) vs Kary (FF1) - Actually pretty close. I see both of them doing a 3HKO on each other so this will depend on who goes first. So... does Songi's speed lean more towards above average or below average?
Momo (BoF3) vs Hector (FE7) - Buff, Heal, Sleep, Win

Middle:

1-Leah (CC) vs Felius Arwin (XF) - Simple slugfest. Leah has the better stats and damage output.
Leon Magnus (ToD) vs 3-Humphrey Mintz (Suikos) - Yeah, Leon's magic never impressed me.

Light:

1-Lucia (EBC) vs Alanis (S3) - Not Alanis
Roy (S5) vs Kogoro (S3) - Not a Suikodog
Yam Koo (S1) vs 3-Reis Dular (FFT) - A Suiko-scrub winning? Well, Light is Light.

Writeup Graveyard / Kary (vs Songi)
« on: July 31, 2010, 04:13:59 AM »
A Godlike against a Heavy. Normally, this would be a slaughter, but when the Godlike is the oft-mocked Songi, and the Heavy is the oft-feared Kary, things become more even. Kary's resistances may be useless here, but her many blades will still make quick work of that musclebound monk's Ra-Seru infused body while her own fiendish durability will prove to be an obstacle for his attacks. Kary is one of the most infamous bosses of her time for a reason and she'll be more than glad to show this red-headed punk why.

Blastoise>>>Diego

Have you ever tried firing an arrow or using a spear while underwater?

Yeah, Diego had just as much luck trying either one here.

Maybe he should have asked his fellow Sky Lord, Amon, for scuba-diving lessons.

Heavy:

Garai (CC) vs Jowy (S2) - Both 2HKO. Jowy kills first, I think.

Middle:

Venusaur (PKMN) vs Bruiser (ToD) - Ballistic damage not being very effective seals this.

Light:

Blastoise (PKMN) vs Diego (VH) - Rain Dance -> Hydrocannon should do the trick, especially with Torrent in play.

I doubt Sniper has average damage, but it should at least be good enough to 3HKO Meg? But if it 3HKOs it loses due to healing, I think?

If Meg's slower than average, Diego attacks, Meg gets countered, Diego kills Meg.

If Meg's faster than average, Meg gets countered, Diego attacks, Meg is forced to heal, see above.

So yeah, Sniper Diego 3HKOing is enough to win this, unless if Meg can 2HKO or is fast enough to get enough doubles against average speed before she runs out of healing.

Godlike:

Ryu (BoF4) vs Lenneth Valkyrie (VPs) - I vote on VP1 Lenneth. Boomies.

Heavy:

Edgar Roni Figaro (FF6) vs Garai (CC) - Edgar against boss.
Jowy Atreides (S2) vs Scias (BoF4) - More OHKO Boomies.

Middle:

Bruiser Khang (ToD) vs Leehalt Alceste (WA3) - Leehalt doesn't like chippers with strong damage.

Light:

Blastoise (PKMN) vs Melville (S3) - Pokemon champ, finally?
Meg (Suikos) vs Diego Renault (VH) - Query: How good is Sniper damage? Can it at least 3HKO Meg? (I know Sky Lord would lose here since they take extra damage against ranged attacks and can't counter ranged).

Cleared all characters in Immaterial and Missing Power on Normal.

Query: My Yuyuko replays are encountering problems. It would start off well, but somewhere around the second and third spellcards, the replay becomes off. Yuyuko starts attacking and dodging things that aren't there, and Suika's spellcard declarations becomes off-sync by one compared to the spellcard displays. Eventually, when Suika reaches Pandemonium, she just starts running around until the spellcard display catches up, whereupon Yuyuko in the replay just stands still as Pandemonium activates. I've tried making four replays so far and I still encountered the same problems.

I don't encounter this problem with the other characters.

I'm using ver 1.11 of IaMP and 1.1 of the english patch. I've tried switching to static backgrounds on my latest replay to no avail. Anyone know what's possibly causing this?

Belial>>>Asgard

The Fortress of the Gods stood imposingly on one side of the arena, his glowing eyes staring down at the mysterious master of space.

"I have seen and recorded your previous battles and have devised ways to counter them. You have no way to attack me now."

The mysterious woman smiled bemusedly at this proclamation. She then opened a portal above Asgard and dropped a tank right on his head.

...or at least tried to. Asgard had swatted the tank away with a Barrier Fist.

"I told you," Asgard intoned robotically while slowly advancing on the demon, pausing momentarily at each step to backhand away a tank "your attacks have no effect on me."

Belial for her part, never lost her smile. Had Asgard been human, this would have caused him some worry, but since he lacked such silly emotions besides loyalty to his masters, he continued on without pause until he was within punching distance of the demon and could strike her with a Barrier Fist, which instead flew right into a gap that had opened between them.

Having anticipated this Distortion in space, Asgard prepared to unleash a Barrier Storm. "Resistance is futile. This match is mine."

And then a train came out from the gap and smashed Asgard out of the ring.

Once the match was officially awarded to her, Belial teleported out of the arena, her enigmatic smile never dropping even once.

After a short pause, Ashley Winchester, one of the judges in this match, finally spoke.

"She's been visiting that parasol-carrying demon from Cirno's home world, hasn't she?"

Rudy mutely nodded.

Godlike
Asgard (WAs)  vs.  Belial (WA4) - Barrier Storm's the only way Asgard has of hurting Belial and it just had to run off his HP.

Heavy
1-Edgar (FF6)  vs. Slust (OB) - Slust misses the 2HKO and instant double to me, so Air Anchor is enough.
Miang (XG) vs.  3-Marsilio (SO2) - Miang against ID immune

Middle
Venusaur (Poke) vs. Raven (FE7) - Sleep Powder plus Grass hitting Raven's sad RES stat.

Light
1-Blastoise (Poke) vs  Serra (FE7) - I see Blastoise's Bite with a 4HKO and Serra with a 6HKO, but counters and Serra going first swings things her way. Don't think Tail Whip increases Bite's damage fast enough. This match is sa~d.
Jacques (S3) vs.  Leon Geeste (SO2) - Not Leon
Melville (S3)  vs. Euram Barrows (S5) - Not Euram
Funguy (CC)  vs. 3-Lucius (FE7) - Lucius does not handle solid physical fighters well

Writeup Graveyard / Miang (vs Marsilio)
« on: June 12, 2010, 03:01:58 AM »
Ah, a boss, one of the greatest banes of Miang. She must admit, having her perfect ID trump card rendered ineffective does sting a bit, especially since this Wise Man's claim to fame is his skill with the blade. Thankfully, while ID is her main claim to fame, it isn't the only trick up her sleeve. She's still capable of doing decent damage with Black Purge after all, and since it's multi-targetting magic, Marsilio's much-touted evasion will do him no favors here. Combined with her vast experience as the oldest being in her world, and she may just snatch a win from this uphill fight.
