I'd be hosting this. There any interest in this? We have three of us in Fairfax County (Myself, Shale, and Ciddy). I can put up guests/have a pretty spacious townhouse. Could do it in December or January, depending on when people are available.
Local:
1. Super (Duh)
2. Shale
3. Ciddy (HAD BEST SHOW UP)
4. Meeple
5. Snowfire
6. Miki
Maybe/no word:
Pyro
OK
-
I might come, depends how easy it is for me to get there.
-
January is generally better than December for me - family stuff, and in my line of work, the end of the calendar year is an important deadline.
-
I'll be down for it - though depends on the date I guess.
-
I prefer January too.
-
I'm about 30 minutes (without traffic) from Dulles or Reagan airport. Dulles is preferred as Fuck Arlington Traffic Forever but it's not too bad.
-
If this falls when I am in DC on a work trip, I would love to at least drop by! Fingers crossed art and minimeet coincide.
-
I am of course in, and can give rides to/from Dulles. Reagan too, but only if people are getting in on a day when I'm working (I live around the corner from Dulles, and work up the road from Reagan).
-
Date I'm looking at: Jan 13th-15th as it's a long holiday weekend for me and it's well after the holidays. Thoughts?
DUnie: If you're ever in DC, let me know and we can meet up.
-
If I can make it, those dates work well for me. Up in the air, but hopeful.
-
The one thing about those dates is that it's my Birthday on the 14th.
I don't mind TOO much doing it there, and hey, I would like to spend my birthday with friends for once, but just something to keep in mind.
-
Tenative date set for Jan 13th-15th. People can easily crash at my place, there is plenty of room. I live right in the middle of fairfax city, so there are plenty of places to eat/etc within easy walking distance.
-
I might be up for this. I have a relative in the area I can maybe crash with so it's possible I wouldn't even be a burden on sleeping quarters space, although it might necessitate asking for rides instead.
-
So if I am taking a bus down (Greyhound likely), what stop should I go to? Not getting the ticket quite yet, but I like to plan ahead.
-
Mmmm...well, let me run it by my boss, but that should be feasible. Do you need another driver in the area? I may just bus in if I can make it.
-

whatever is easiest for you. We should have more than enough drivers but yeah, feel free to drive in.
I edited in my address for anyone that needs it.
-
For those bussing in: I am extremely close to the Vienna Metro station (10~ minutes). If you want to get in and out of DC, that is the best way by far as I would prefer to not drive into the city. There's plenty of parking in my complex as well for anyone driving.
-
Well, barring something ridiculous, I'll be there. Not sure if I'm bussing or not - anyone else bussing in? So we can coordinate pick-ups a little bit.
-
Ok, something I should note:
There's a chance I might not be able to make it, and I will not know one way or another until within a week of the event.
The reason? My sister is pregnant, and she's due sometime next month. If child is born on January 5th through 7th or so, I won't be able to come, since that will be when the child's bris is (assuming it's make. If female...I have no idea when Baby Namings happen), and well, priorities and such. It's a small window, but a very plausible one where it can happen, and something I have absolutely no control over.
Naturally, rescheduling the event won't change a thing, for the most part, because this is an unknown variable and just as likely for it to happen at the rescheduling. As it stands, I'm still in, but haven't gotten my tickets yet because as I said, I can't be 100% confirmed until about a week before the event.
-
And...I can now say that won't be an issue! I should be able to come now barring unforseen circumstance but not 100% confirmed because haven't gotten ticket yet, etc. WIll get details when I know them, but the unexpected factor has passed.
-
I'll be in NY instead of DC. Unplanned, but now I most certainly have little wiggle space. Enjoy the snow! Winter is coming.
-
Note: I don't own a TV/game consoles so if you want to play something, feel free to bring it. I'll work something out and nab a TV so don't sweat that part.
-
Jetblue's having a sale, so if you're flying in, now's the time. What times make the most sense for travel? Do you guys envision doing stuff Friday during the day, or would Friday night make the most sense?
-
I'm off friday, so feel free to fly in then.
-
Confirming that I'm in. I arrive in DC 2:20 PM assuming I don't miss the bus or something, so that should be at the Vienna metro stop by 3:20 PM or so. Also confirming that I'm staying with a relative in the area; I might request rides over to be dropped off, but it should be a short trip, she's also NVa. (Note that this PROBABLY means I won't be staying up super-late and keeping to a more "normal" schedule, as well. I'll probably be spending some time seeing what's up with them as well.)
Also, I have a friend in the area who might be up for games and the like as well. He's more of a role-playing game type person - in the sense of tabletop - but if any others are up for something like that, I'm sure he'd love to be in. It's a bit of a trip from Maryland though, note huge but not trivial, so we might want to schedule it in advance. Anyone else up for a Cthulhu or Shadowrun one-shot or the like? Shale? NotMiki?
-
Told Super this in chat, but I think it needs to be said here:
I'm confirmed to come. Getting in sometime early afternoon on Friday via Greyhound, leaving sometime mid-day on Sunday. Would need to check my ticket for exact details.
Coming via Bus to be clear.

So curiously, what consoles will be accessible at Minimeet this year?
-
Snowfire/Meeple/Miki: Please text me (571-315-1191) with your name to make sure I have your numbers.

Minimeet before the real minimeet:
Meeple was so sweet and kind and patient enough to take me through Times Square, a place I've bee-lined through every time I've visited New York City. It makes me anxious. We went inside the M&M store. He hyped it up enough as a cool place. Dropped into the Disney store and had a really interesting conversation with a worker...Hershey store, had pizza/garlic knots/fries at a pizza place with an A rating. But most importantly, it was fun to see him and thanks again for your patience with my inability to get around the city! <3

I have a Wii U, PS3 and Xbox 360 available (but the only one I have four controllers for is the 360). Won't be around tomorrow, though.
-
I should have checked to make sure the seatbelts worked first. This will be interesting! E: they work!

Sorry for not having said anything earlier, but I'm not going to be able to make it out there :(. Unfortunately, while it was looking good back in November when we first talked about things, I'm going to have to spend the weekend prepping for an unexpected issue that, while not totally unexpected, has reared its ugly fucking head to be a pain in the as unexpectedly (some of you know or have an idea, but I can't say too much until after early February).
I was hoping things wouldn't get scheduled like they did for this weekend, but of course that's how it worked out :(.
Suffice to say, I am not happy with this development in general, and now in particular.
Sorry guys - happy to Skype in for a bit if that works.

Life happens. I'll shoot you a PM.

For reference, this was a 3 minute game.

Also, same place as super's pic, but with drummer NotMiki in the frame: https://goo.gl/photos/xMJzT48A5EqvK6hS8
(I think Cid is on bass, while Meeple is the singer? And Shale is the agent setting up the next gig.)
-
I played guitar, dammit.
-
It is a four piece clearly, Super is the glammy lead singer, Cid plays guitar (that jacket is not a bass player's jacket, wayyyy to good, also the long hair would only be bass if everyone was bald or had long hair). Shale is Bass player kicking it casual like. Meeple on drums because lets be real, Meeple is the only one with the energy to play drums.
Jim is the Manager. You aren't drumming in a polo shirt or generally being that presentable.

Cid's coat and pose make me think of Neil Gaiman of all things personally.

Dragon Quest 2 (ios): (...)
I remember the quest to find the first prince drove me insane the first time (both of the princes keep missing each other) but I find it very charming now!
SnowFire: Where are you?
super: We're at (RANDOM SMOKEY BAR). Come here.
(15 minutes later)
SnowFire: I'm at the bar. Where are you?
super: Oh we just went to my home. Come over here.
(5 minutes later)
SnowFire: I'm at your home. Where are you?
super: I decided to go to the comics shop.
Moral: When meeting super, ask him where he is GOING to be.
-
Minimeet done! Lots of fun.
Friday: I get a text from Jim at 7am that his flight was cancelled and moved to Reagan instead of Dulles. (This is ungood news, Reagan is in Arlington and I dislike driving that way. More later on that point!) He ends up being about three hours later than expected. We drive back, pick up a TV, and hang out till it's time to pick up Meeple from Vienna metro. GPS takes us to the wrong place but that works out in the end- the extra 10-15 min we wait means Snowfire gets there and I save myself a trip, which is a good thing. All four of us hang out. They experience the magic of Sister Thai's which is a fantastic place nearby to eat. There are no game consoles available so we just sit and chat for the evening. It's a little blurry as I was physically whipped by this point- I do remember seeing SF5 videos and noticing how dumb Ken's hair is. Seriously Ken, edge up and fix it asap.
Saturday: Shale and Ciddy show up. Crisis 1: Roommate's dog gets out. It's eventually found later that evening but I spend way too long looking. Estarland happens as you can see from the photo, games are played, people chat. Meet one of Snopwfire's friends, he was cool.
Sunday: Surprise DC trip to drop something off, comic book store, lots of chatting and an amazing Packers game. Snowfire got to watch me almost die there but hey. I had a ton of fun seeing everyone and hosting, hope everyone else enjoyed it.
The good: seeing everyone, getting to talk to everyone one on one which is always a highlight of these meetups; the Jeep having no issues. The bad: Hurting the entire time/being tired. The ugly: Washington DC. Just fuck off forever. E: I Would like to note that Ciddy is pro Jeep.
-
I can safely say that, even with the crisis on Saturday, my birthday this year was a lot better than last year <_<
-
Glad to deliver you an at least only second-worst birthday!
