1. Summer's just about over. What was your highlight? Your lowlight?
Uh...highlight was probably going to St. John for a week at the end of May--you know, before it got smashed by Irene .  Lowlight would be the aforementioned contractor issues mentioned in the Good Morning topic.

2. What is your favorite place in the world? Your least favorite?
Eh, no real thoughts here?

3. Football season is starting! Are you a fan/excited? How did your team do week 1?
No

4. Are you happy with your job? If not, are you looking for a new job?
Very happy.  The only thing I'd change would be the commute.  If that got cut in half, it would be brilliant.  As it is, it's busy, but I do like it. 

5. What's the next book/movie/TV show you are looking forward to?
Book: the next installment of the Star Carrier series.  Movie: Kingsman: The Golden Circle.  TV: Robot Chicken's new season (since Rick and Morty is already out).

6. Final Fantasy Tactics came out 20 years ago. Did you play it when it first came out?
I didn't, I played it...2 years later?  Right before I met the group back in 2002.  As much as I subjectively wasn't a huge fan, objectively the game is decent.  But you didn't hear me say that. 

7. The holidays are coming up soon. Anything special planned for them?
What holidays?  There is no holiday in academia.

8. Do you have any trips planned? If so, where are you going?
Phoenix for a conference in October, Orlando for a conference in December

9. What was the last video game you played?
Technically, Path of Exile.  If you're talking about new game, it would have been Persona 5. 

10. Do you have a smartphone? If you do, do you use it all the time?
Yes, and I do use it a ton - I prefer the tablet or laptop/desktop, but it gets used a lot for work, etc.

11. What's your dream car?
I love my Subaru Impreza, and I don't need anything fancier.

12. Do you have a favorite Halloween candy? Least favorite?
Take 5 is my new favourite.  Candy corn is the most disgusting thing on earth.

Ahem. 

Yeah, Noriko is the toughest fight in the game, generally.  Kind of a wake-up call in using the system.  A couple things that could help:
- Were you nice to Ulala at the end of the GOLD?  If you were, you can summon Maia Custom, by using Maia in fusions to end battles until she gets the modification ability.  Maia Custom is level 31, with Mediarama, Recarm, and good defenses (especially given her level).  Maya can basically solo the fight on auto-battle by that point.  Maia Custom doesn't require grinding - once you unlock her, you can use her immediately, even if you aren't normally a high enough level. 
- A couple good personas to get if you are able include Iris (for Ulala, although you'll need to have found her material card in GOLD - she's permanently missable if you didn't get it then), Hel (for Baofu - tons of elemental skills, no weaknesses), and Matsuo-sama.  The latter has Wall of Water which invalidates Maha Aques, but requires you to get the modification ability, since she's a minor arcana (easiest - get Pixie, use in fusions to end battles until she learns it, morph her to Matsuo-sama).  Jack Frost is also awesome from a defensive perspective, and from an offensive perspective (Sonic Punch and Bufu - Noriko doesn't guard Ice, only Water, so you can do ice fusions if you need).
- You can win this with starters (I've done starter challenges before), but you would hopefully have enough mutations (parametre up, mostly) to keep the stats high enough.  Since you mentioned Soothing Melody (Odysseus's mutation spell), I assume you've been doing that.  It's a good idea to end battles with fusions to force mutations.  The problem is that their spell list just doesn't keep up - high TEC is good, but the higher level spells make the biggest difference in damage from the higher multipliers, so you really need to upgrade.
- Be careful with fusions.  You can reset turns and basically get yourself lapped and smashed if you're not careful.  It may be easiest to just use single actions - the battles are turn-based, one action per round per character, but if you keep ordering fusions, you can start negating turns and get behind on actions (it can be really confusing).
- If you're having trouble with the negotiation system, you can FAQ it, but it shouldn't be too tough to figure out one or two demons that are common encounters.  Get them to sign a contract, and then keep contacting them in future battles to get blank cards.  Try for the highest level demon if you can for the most cards.
- Equipment is kind of not vital to buy yet.  What rumours did you spread?  You'll get some later about stores where you can only spread 1 or 2 rumours, and some are bad ideas.  You don't get special defense boosting armours until later, and the defense bonuses are minimal right now, so you can wait a bit.  The defense helps, but the persona makes a bigger difference (stats and affinities). 
- Have you thought about which path you'll follow? 


I've been working on updated the P2 topic as well, although that's going to take a while!  Cool stuff I've learned I want to add to it   P2:EP is my favourite in the series, and I still have most of it memorized (but a replay is due - I had to look up some stuff recently!).

White pears or Chicken and onions - Man, I really need to try white pears, but when I think of pizza, the chicken and onion flavour is the thing I associate with it
Ham or Margherita (mozzorella, basil, and tomato) - Can't beat a classic
Mushrooms (standard) or Sausage, green pepper, and onion - How about mushrooms + sausage + green pepper + onion?  If I have to choose one...probably mushrooms.  The sausage is hit or miss, but man, they're all so much better together!
Ricotta cheese + garlic or Pineapple - Pineapple is good, but ricotta + garlic is awesomeness

Mushrooms (standard) or Sundried tomatoes - Love them both, but I mushrooms are more versatile and I think harder to get sick of.
Sausage, green pepper, and onion or Meatballs - So...if it's crappy sausage, not the first one.  If it's decent sausage, maybe the first one.  The combination is just excellent.  So...mmm...well, let's assume it's decent sausage.
Steak and onions or Ricotta cheese + fresh garlic - Sausage is generally of better quality than most steak I've had at pizza places.  The latter is just such a clean, delicious, wonderful topping combination that it's hard to beat. 
Beef, onions, and green peppers or Pineapple - All about the beef - if it's shitty, it ruins it.  A bit closer than the steak/onions, and I could have gone either way.  But pineapple is so damn good, even by itself.

Real life sucks, I miss the topic

1) Shock...should be 2 turns.  I remember testing this, and all the ailments were 2 turns barring downed (until next turn) and despair (which...still technically lasts 2 turns, then kills you).  What shadows did you use it on?  I know some have Fast Heal, so that may be an issue.  I checked on Qliphoth World targets, and I remember specifically trying the Shock --> Charge --> God's Hand combo.  Checking online sources...well, some say 1 turn, some say 2, but the 1 turn duration sites also say freeze is 1 turn, so...bleh.  I know freeze breaks if attacked; shock may be the same way?  I'll have time to really check later in the week a few things I've been meaning to do, so I'll look at it again. 

2) I didn't add them since both of them have better gun options (although if you disallow the Wild Hunt, it would be Panther's only way to inflict despair), although I may very well add them in for completion.  There are a few other weapons like that.

4) The ailments I need to go back and edit a bit for bosses.  Originally, was testing them via in-game accuracy, but it appears that, like the Reaper tries to, they like to target more prone targets (although damage takes priority over the ailments, so physical ailments, like Negative Pile, may target the frailer PC with better ailment resistance, such as Panther or Mona), so that could be part of the problem.  Also, small numbers of tests on the "average" targets I'd like to use.  It's probably easiest to go for the base hit rates.  Lu adjustment...most bosses have above average Lu, though I've used higher levels for them (god damnit people, my levels are first too low, now they're too high?  Make up your mind!), so that balances a little.  Most MT ailments should be around 40-50%, ST around 80-90%.  Damage ailments are little different, but I think they're about 30-50%.  I think I have a better handle of some of the ailment accuracy stuff, so I can update those overall.  Helps a few PCs (Skull, Fox), at least, too.  There appears to be a cap on ailment accuracy - I think it's 95% (or it could be 99%, but 95% seems more in line with the evasion stuff too, so...).  I'm open to discussion on this.

5) Huh, guess I never got that far into the fight.  Interesting to note about the ballista. 

6) Hah, I didn't notice that for Unholy Convergence.  Makes that even shittier (but hey, at least the first form in that chain is excellent).

7) It's looked like 50% every time I've looked at it - variance is ~10%, so that could be it.  P3 and P4 it was less for sure, around the 30-40% mark.  Something I can keep testing once I get around to it.

8) Yes, I want to add some more, since the general thoughts from people (well, mostly Snow-squared) is that high level stuff is disallowed.  As for what persona for Joker to hold against the cast...well, Baal, Sandalphon, and Ongyo-ki are all reasonable.  I would generally prefer not to use one that is a max confidant (so, of those, probably Baal, who is already listed) that doesn't auto-level.  I'm still not a huge fan of forcing the cast to fight against those level averages, but it is an in-game thing, so I can add it in.  At the very least, you can take Joker against them, and hold the rest of the cast to Throne averages, or something.

So, a thought I had, now that I've seen the views of others: I want to rebuild the topic a bit, and wanted to get some feedback on the best way to make that look.  I asked about this a bit earlier, but now again here is a question:

1) For Joker persona stats, since they are completely random, I think I'm going to normalize them.  For this, I want to do either of the following:
- Even distribution followed by adding any remaining stat points to the personas highest starting stats.  For example, a persona with starting stats of 51/51/51/50/50 that needs 5 levels to gain their last skill would have stats of 54/54/54/53/53.  If they needed 6 levels, their stats would be 55/55/55/53/53.
- Run ratio growths for all personas.  I explained this earlier in the topic.  More work, and probably comes out similar to the above, but is probably more true?  I don't know.

I came to this thought after looking at stats again, and seeing that some got skewed (Yoshitsune got really luck in all those 10 runs with his Ag...).  I think this is more accurate overall, too, and consistent, given the random nature of stat growth.  If you allow full stat control with sacrifice, then this matters less.  This won't take a terribly long time, but probably won't be done until next week or so.

2) Lots of personas to add, but should I add some details on inheritance?  Like, what do people allow with the Isolation Chamber, Sacrifice skill transfer, etc.?  What needs added to make this more complete?

3) I'm going to revamp the listings too, so that there's more detail in one post (also, need to consolidate a bit, since there are only 5 sequential posts).  Any requests are appreciated.

Cool thoughts.  A couple questions for my curiosity (and for topic revisions):

1) What do you think about the bosses?  Primarily the most rankable one (Black Mask)?

2) Mmm...well, Yoshitsune does require a > level 75 persona...Futsunushi, which is level 76.  That's like 2 battles in Mementos Depths.  Now, granted, Futsunushi is only available on the last day of the game, so that's annoying, but it's a minimal difference.  Although I suppose if you have to set a cut-off point, that works, and thems the breaks.  I can't see a reason to disallow Yoshitsune based on the details you've provided, unless...

3) When you say level 80 base , I assume you mean you allow personas that start at level 80 (like Mother Harlot), and allow them to level for their skills (so, Mother Harlot is 85)?  But still take a character level 75?  Would you put any limit on their level (assuming maxed links - 5 level gains before max FOOL, 6 after max FOOL...that's like all but one persona gaining their last skill - of course it's Yoshitsune - but with sacrifice, it's not a huge deal)?

4) Do you allow skill transfer at all?  Isolation?  Etc.?  Details so I can build a more responsive topic

This is just a ridiculous amount of bullshit thrown out at once. I wonder if they're trying to put so much crap out at once that anything major is lost in the dust?

People keep attributing these moves to a conscious strategy.  That's what normal people pretending to be crazy would do.  These people are actually crazy, and the reason Trump does stuff like this is probably because he ate paint chips as a toddler and now he has no impulse control.  At this point, given the sprawling evidence we have before us, assigning a logical motive to Trump is nuts.  You only do it because your mind is trying to make sense of something that makes no sense.

Trump fired Comey, then bragged about it to the Russians because he genuinely thought firing Comey would ease the pressure on him.

He thinks he's Alexander the Great and he sees Gordian knots everywhere he looks.
If he had any idea who Alexander the Great was or what the Gordian knot was, he'd think he was like that guy.  But he doesn't, obviously.

Ar Nosurge: Ode to an Unborn Star- CIEL_N_PROTECTA vs Megamari- Title Theme - Hits a lot of good feelings - it's playful, yet intense at points.  Nice title theme
Pokémon Sun/Moon- League Title Defense vs Rogue Galaxy- The Galaxy Public Corporation - The latter is nice in-game, and the former...just feels...somehow like it's trying too hard? 
Ace Combat: Assault Horizon- Gotta Stay Fly vs  Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru- The Prince’s Adventure - OH GOD THE RAP.  Take it out, and it would be close - the latter is really good, though
.hack//GU Vol 1- Gentle Hands (English) vs The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword- Lanayru Desert (Past) - Ah, this is a good vocal.  I do love those.  The latter feels like standard Zelda

Hollow Knight- City of Tears vs Super Mario Galaxy- Bowser Battle Theme - Wow...this song is awesome
Ducktales Remastered- Moon Theme vs Pokémon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire- Battle! Rayquaza - Yeah...Pokemon music I keep finding myself liking less and less.  Also, MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON
  Persona 5- Last Surprise vs Xenoblade Chronicles- Mechanical Rhythm - This is one of the better XBC songs, but...man, Last Surprise.  It is awesome.  Probably my favourite Persona battle theme?  I'd put Light the Fire Up in the Night 2nd. 
Guilty Gear XX- Awe of She vs  Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE- Event Battle - Both decent, former is more...stable?

Don't misunderstand me, my calling him a Maverick is more about the shock that he actually broke from party lines on this vote. As others have said, he has made terrible voting decisions based on the party line for a long time, despite speaking out publicly against them (see: the last 6 months asst least). I respect the man as a military hero, even though I don't support his political views.    Senators Collins and Murkowski have as stated made consistent efforts against the party line, and I have a lot of respect in them for that.

But yes in general, I am still going "what the fuck" after the events of this week. The transgender band being posted through Twitter is ridiculous. If people want to serve honorably in the military, just fucking let them.  There are no exorbitant costs of transgender care, so there's another reason for this ban in between the lines...

This is just a ridiculous amount of bullshit thrown out at once. I wonder if they're trying to put so much crap out at once that anything major is lost in the dust?

Oooohhhh.  Mmm...so, by themselves, olives aren't that great.  They need to be mixed with something else.  Having said that...white pears also probably need a particular set-up to be excellent (mixed with goat cheese, perhaps).  Mmm...tiebreak for the unique one here.

Ham or Meatballs or Cheeseless hawaiian
Cheeseless Hawaiian is not that bad, the other two are very versatile and inoffensive.

Steak and onions or Goat cheese or Pineapple
Mmm...another tough one.  If it's shitty steak, then steak and onions is baaaaad.  Having said that, I feel pineapple needs something like ham to really be awesome.  Goat cheese...well, depends again on the mix, but is overall very good most of the time.  But yeah, none of these are really bad.  Considering most places use shitty steak, I'll be voting there.

Fresh goat cheese + fig or White fish or Mushrooms (standard)
Yeah...light fish doesn't do terribly well on a pizza, I've found

This was the Senate's Phoenix Downed version -- they followed the same pattern of "extreme right-wingers and moderates both badmouth the bill, so they come back with changes for the nutjobs and trust the moderates to fall in line," only this time neither side would fall in line (except Ted Cruz). It really seems like they might have to go back to the drawing board instead of reusing the shitty-ass AHCA model.

While that's the logical assumption,  until a failed vote happens,  I won't be betting against party solidarity any time soon
