Well.... uh... huh.

Incidentally, my original ploy was to tear into Rat/Alex at the beginning so I could doc away without repercussions. Turns out that was... completely unnecessary.

Game was quite a bit unbalanced, but don't beat yourself up too much over it.

I think the key thign we keep missing is C9, C9 or C7 should be the basis of every game, C9 seems the fairer so i will use it as the example.
Roles+scum = no more than 45% of total players
Vanilla townies should be 55% of players

The problem is that there's an "ooh! shiny!" factor (I know I fell victim to it) when creating/using roles in prep for hosting. You see some stuff that you like to begin with, but every so often you'll see or think of something else you that you just have to use and so you toss it in and before you know it there's an explosion of specials.

Balance and the effects on your players should always be the first concern.  There is a shiny factor, but falling victim to it just annoys everyone and makes games unfun.

Well, yes, that goes without saying.

I meant as an addendum to what I said. The reason I didn't end my post with "This is the wrong path to follow" was because I figured it was too obvious to be worth pointing out.

Solution? Ask people who aren't playing about what roles can be run. Spread the roles you like out between games.
