If it is a spin off series I don't really care a great deal if it differs some minor game mechanics. How they handle the plot is infinitely more interesting in this case since it is at least deviating slightly from the normal formula (Like you are already starting at war with something apparently).

Yeah, I think I'm with Grefter on this one. Especially the thing about how the 108 Stars lost and you're trying to reform them. That's an interesting twist which they haven't touched before and looks a lot more promising than Suikoden 4, which eventually turned out to be Suikoden 1, but on the ocean.

This doesn't seem to be main-series Suikoden (Tierkreis doesn't mean anything to me, but I'm pretty sure it's not 'VI' >.>), and is definitely starting from an interesting direction, so yeah, pump. Helps that I was a little worried they were just going to drop the series, so anything from it is welcome goodness.
'sides, 4 person party does not equate to Suikoden IV gameplay. I see no drunken floating fridge, for starters...

You guys are aware that most DS RPGs make touchscreen stuff completely optional, right?

Anyway, portable > not portable these days, as far as I'm concerned. Aesthetically they've caught up to acceptable levels, the screens actually have backlighting, and you can take the things anywhere. Also next gen consoles have failtastic price tags, and portables are cheap.

Well... considering the sheer volume of hints Suikoden V dropped about the Zodiac Sword (it's about the Sun Rune, so Night Rune is its natural opposite, gets mentioned in a lot of incidental dialogue involving Zerase, that sort of thing), that'd be unsurprising. Also means I wouldn't be surprised if there's some strong allusion to SuikoV plot in there.

I don't have a DS, but don't find them any better or worse than a PSP objectively. For all the problems you might have with a DS, the PSP isn't that much better and is super easy to give you cramps. Also fuck this wahhh DS suck shit, I will take it on a system that is many pluses to market exposure to the series and the first jump from the fucking Sony bullshit for the series, especially in this generation, over getting it on a wider screen.

So, this game is either one of two things.

A: A game to hold us over until Suikoden 6 comes out.

or

B: Depending on how well this game sells, the basis on whether Konami even continues with the series.
