So yeah.  Looks like Bandai can't resist bouncing KOS-MOS cut-ins.

EDIT: Since links to the patent/trademark office website don't persist apparantly, here's the article I got it from: http://www.siliconera.com/2008/09/25/will-endless-frontier-super-robot-taisen-og-saga-generate-raunchy-jokes-overseas/

So it's true, adding XS to anything makes it worse.

EF is actually a pretty good game, even if it doesn't look like one. Helps that the XS plot in it is very minor.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=339513

The following came from Nintendo Power, apparantly:

Quote
* Its design is comparable to previous Suikoden titles.
* Battle System controlled by d-pad or stylus.
* Co-op attacks still exist.
* Short, medium, and long-ranged attacks.
* Game progression mission based.
* Potch gained from completed missions, not dropped from enemies.
* Weapons bought instead of upgraded.
* No True Runes
* No one-on-one duels
* No strategic battles
* No re-occurring characters confirmed yet.
* Set in parallel world. ???

Some person later in the thread clarified the last point; apparantly the game's about people from parallel worlds travelling through gateways.  Still poses the question of how it qualifies as a Suikoden game if they're seemingly dropping most Suikoden traditions.

It's got the 108 stars (in a refreshingly different variation, might I add) and seems to have all the non-suck core gameplay intact (multi-line TB combat, rune system for magic unless "no True Runes" means more than it seems, unite attacks). It seems more like stripping out extraneous crap that wouldn't fit with the story or portable-friendly gameplay. The mission thing does seem very weird, I'll give you that.

Gah, I want another True Rune *whines endlessly*

Apart from that and no Jeane/Viki, it doesn't seem to be missing anything too important. Though, I liked the weapon-upgrading system and I felt they had just started improving that.

Mission-based gameplay -can- work. I especially felt TotW:RM had it right. (I think CC:FF7 has the same mission system, but I haven't played it.)

At any rate, SuikoDS and VPDS both look like they'll sell a few DS systems. DS is looking to be the next gen system of the DL. Though WAXF, FFT:LW and Crisis Core probably moved a few PSPs. Still only 1 or 2 okay-ish titles from Wii and 360 (FE10 and ToV, I guess) and nothing on the PS3 inspires ranking (even an N1 fan like me doesn't see Dis3 getting ranked if it stays a PS3 exclusive - luckily for Dis3, N1 loves to port, port, port!).

Wii also seems to have non-RPG incentives (remember SSBM was the second most popular game in the DL when Trips summed up people's scores; a dozen odd DLers seem to have gotten a Wii for Brawl.  Megaman 9 is probably a big deal for a lot of people, too, given how many people here play Megaman.  Mario games may be relevant too; I recall Ciato saying she was interested in Wii for a mixture of Mario Galaxy, FE10, and Virtual Console).

Granted, it doesn't have much to actually rank right now (I know how eager the DL is to rank MORE FE!!!1)  But RPGs on the Wii seem unlikely to suffer from lack of a DL install-base.

Gamespot got the first look at BioWare's new MMO, Star Wars: The Old Republic. I guess other places should be getting stuff out soon, but it's likely to be the same stuff.

OMG HE'S ADVOCATING THAT WE DO SOMETHING OTHER THAN MINDLESSLY ENGAGING IN HEDONISM BURN HIM

Speaking of Mindless hedonism, that burger thing is impressive but not so much if you know the secret to doing it, which he seems to, since he ate the meat first.  Anyway, eat the meat and toppings then soak the bun in water and drink it.  Still not an easy feat nor is it recommendable to anybody but it's not that bad when you consider how much of the filling part is actually the bread.

It's also how the record eating champs eat hog dogs and the like.

That burger might actually be pretty good if it didn't have all that crap on it.
Don't think of it as a novel. Think of it as a chance to retroactively win every argument you have ever walked away from.
