FFRK: Got super excited about the FF14 event and saved up, did 2 11-pulls at different times. The first one, right as it came out, got me the Ninja Garb and an extra Thornlet. the second one (last night) got me the Lominsan Bow, Yoshimitsu, a second Chakram, a second Empyrean Rod, and pretty much endless joy. I am not even close to set up for the Mage Meta, but hot DAMN if I'm not set up for a standard RPG party filled with nothing but hotties like Thancred. I am very happy.

Darkest Dungeon: Remembered I had this when my internet started hitting the shitter this week, decided to get back to it. It's a fun little romp where you play against virtually impossible odds. It's kind of like a medieval XCom, where you have abominations trying to kill you and the plot is mostly just there to get you through, and everyone dies because of Syphilis or Rabies, but sometimes you want Rabies? I don't know. It's pretty and it tries to kill you constantly with heart attacks and STDs while you fight eldritch abominations. What more do you want out of a game?

Fire Emblem Fates: Still plucking away at Not!Japan path, still don't know what the hell is going on. It's fun, albeit every 3 chapters is a Valm-like spike in difficulty now, so it's probably going to take me a bit to get through it. Oh well.

I just got 50 mithril again and spent it on the FF14 banner like a casino addict. Got Yoshimitsu. Okay.
Pretty cool (I like Thancred's super weird skillet) but Hinode scared me forever and I'm now afraid I won't be able to finish everything without either SG / Lunatic High / Boon

Oh and I crafted Holy. It looks nice?

Final Fantasy - A Reload Reborn

I swear, I think I've spent nearly $260 on FFRK for this event alone... And what do I have to show for it?

3x Ninja Chainmails
2x Lominsan Bows
2x Cobalt Katzbalgers
1x Thyrus

Unrelated to FF14:
1x Defense Veil

...I need to stop spending money on this game. At the very least, I've averaged about one 5* for every $30 I spent. At the very least, since I still live at home with my parents, I can afford to give up a week's pay for fun. Flipside, I basically get to buy no new fun times until after Christmas.

MGS5: Apparently this game is just an HD remake of Balloon Fight.

Final Fantasy The Angels Of Autobattle - I did the egregiously easy FF14 event quests and went back to Greater Orb farming. Up to 20 Greater Blacks, currently farming for Greater Fires. I need only 16 Greater Fires to hone Firaja to R3!

D3: Ring of Regal Grandeur acquired, and the four-piece bonus from Uliana's set turns Seven-Sided Strike (which now deals, appropriately, seven times its base damage) from an occasional bit of extra power when I have extra resources into a bonafide nuke. While farming bounties for it, I was super excited to see a set fist weapon drop, because I found Shenlong's Fist of Legend on my first day with the character and completing an endgame weapon set inside of a week would be pretty freaking sweet. I identified it, and...Shenlong's Fist of Legend. So close!

In any case, I'm up to easily soloing Torment 5 and GR 23, so that's pretty nice.

FFRK: Plucking away at the event quests and story missions, currently at 116 Stamina. Btw, would Aerith's Planet Protector or Thancred's Dancing Edge be a better RW?

D3: Oh yeah, forgot that I play this game sometimes. Started the new season as a Monk because hey never played them and everyone is always raving about how awesome and fun they are! ... I die constantly and can't deal enough damage to last because as soon as I walk up to something and attack it attacks me first. Might just reroll as a Wizard or Crusader or something unless they got seriously nerfed this season. Going to need to do some reading.

If you need a quick ride to 70 so you can start collecting gear, or just somebody to do runs with who will also be seeing Monk drops, let me know. The class is a blast to play but many of its tricks are super dependent on equipment. Shale#1151.

Neither is terribly hot (ST damage SBs are a waste of a slot outside of the occasional newbie trying to cheese past earlygame content and MT attack up is slightly niche a setup, along with competing against Advantaliate setups), so I'd say pick whichever you like more.

In fact, let me explain because the spectacle is kind of mind-blowing. In MPQ advancement is all about getting new and better abilities for your characters. Each character has three “covers” that correspond to their available powers, and getting a cover lets you learn or level up that power, to a maximum of five levels per power (and 13 overall, so you have to choose a build rather than going all-in). There used to be four tiers of characters, but this month they introduced a five-star tier, currently occupied by Silver Surfer, that's ridiculously hard to get, including measures that are supposed to make it all but futile to try to buy your way in. Key words: "all but."

With lower-tier characters once you have a power you can level it up by spending in-game currency if you don't want to wait to get the cover you need, but you can only build up a five-star by finding the proper covers. The only place you can get those covers is with a “Legendary” draw, which has a 95% chance of a random four-star character and a 5% chance of the Surfer. There are a bunch of ways to win a legendary draw by playing the game, but only one way to buy them – if you buy a 40-pack of “Heroic” draws (two-to-four-star covers), for $50 worth of in-game currency, you get one Legendary. That's one five-percent chance at one Silver Surfer cover. This opened up two weeks ago, and one guy has nine SS covers. Think about that math.

I would raise exactly zero fuss if anybody who pulled the trigger on that $50-for-a-single-draw nonsense was automatically deemed incompetent to manage their finances by a court of law.
