germany, austria and the netherlands really inculcated me to its ways. lufting my house out every morning no matter the temperature. air-drying my clothes. coffee after most meals. my oma bike has arrived, no more silly uncomfortable masculine roadbikes for me. i always wear watches now. what are sneakers i wear nice leather loafers now. all the lights in the house don't need to be on, what. i'm sorry, who doesn't compost and isn't anal about their recycling? i'm sorry, you buy your sauces and dressings? if your potatoes aren't dirty then they aren't potatoes. riesling bitte und kein anderes.

so.... I am flipping my shit to know that atlantic station here in ATLANTA DOES WEINACHTSMARKT. Well they call it Christkindl but it's a christmas market nonetheless and is bringing in vendors that sell all those adorable cute and well crafted christmas thingymabobers.

WURST.

GLÜHWEIN. DID I MENTION GLÜHWEIN?  :P

WURST. BRETZELN. VOLKSLIEDER.

so i'm still flipping out but i think i know where i'll be taking my dutch cycle to once or two times a week before new years.  have been having massive Germany withdrawals. really bad itch. can't wait to scratch.

Oh. My. God.

I am going to see this. Yes. In red seats with wine. It doesn't help that I crushed real real real hard on Justice Smith when watching the Get Down. Dude has a range of character voices.

Also. CUTE PIKACHU.  ;D

Abrams isn't conceding yet. I'm bitter but no one in my racial community has ever received complete, unobstructed wins to anything. Today I'm going to plant some trees in the yard, keep dissertating, get my eyesbrows done, and stay attentive for the maybe-maybe-not mad dash run-off in December.

You've been stealing my heart this past year.

If you ever want to chat out your readings in Black feminisim or womanism, I'm game.

The 14 words are carefully chosen, and this is why.  Violent wife beaters are ubiquitous among right-wing activists, but simply put they don’t have a movement without the organizing and recruitment work they have no capacity or willingness to carry out.

This is the only thing I appreciated from Lee's Blackkklansman film. There's not enough conversation about how women are the sacrificial lambs of masculinist nationhood and identity searching, whether the women lean in agreement ideologically or not. Although, I would argue for days that this was unwitting on Lee's own part, negligent even. But to not diverge so much from your point, this is why consciousness-raising groups or even a small amount of socialization is powerful as it can stand to brunt the isolation or fear that legitimizes stuff just like in that link.

The damning thing is, thanks to the way feminism was coopted by capitalism it seems comically easy for them to sway middle of the road ‘liberals’.

Our space and people in our lives change more than we would like, but I hope by this time you found something you can still hold on to. Sadness is not fun. But it's not the end. Hugs dear Trancey.

I watched Kamasi Washington perform at Belly Up in Aspen last week. It was glorious.

But fuck altitude sickness.

It varies. The stock in Dems/Rep can be sly in a place like GA for example. We do not have to register at all, so as you'd expect the parties absorb unofficial numbers from voting patterns.

3x the voters of 2014's results showed up on day one of early voting in Georgia. As both sides of the ideological poles brace for these midterms, I'm just sharing the data for Georgia: http://georgiavotes.com. We like numbers here.

10th Letter - Gorilla Glue

Finally caught pace to learning about local musicians in the area. 10th Letter's a producer. Folk use "afrofuturism" to describe his sound although I'd argue it's less racially purposeful than it is symptomatic of sounds us nerdles loved from grooming in games and the animes. First heard his stuff in an art installation here in Grant Park; punctuated sounds on a ghastly backdrop accompanied a fabric-on-ground installation that followed earlier drained creek water that the grand ol' segregationists drained when black folk moved into the area. That's our present day city Zoo today. Like his stuff. Might be on to something myself... haven't found that sweet spot in sound since chillwave became coffee shop music.

The burden of being a heterosexual woman who can reproduce is so goddamned oppressive and suffocating in the US. Add all the other intersections and my god. Most of my close friends are lesbians, and the stories they have shared on their journey for kids??

I will only ever see a cis female feminist midwife and only ever have a black cis female doula for any of my women's health. Ever. And though I don't find that much of a privilege by comparison, it's definitely something out of reach for thousands of women.

It just has everything to do with me. My approach to "nerd" culture's always come from a position of sociocultural and racial interests and I've pressed this in all-white gaming communities whose interests aren't that. Then I realize how often I am the only black female who speaks on certain things. It's a type of exhaustion I brought on myself by still staying. But I have talked about it in chat. So what I mean is I'd rather not poster child anything in a thoughtful response in a vacuum that only sucks up tidbits of dust.

Saw Black Panther in LA. It was cool. I have my Black Studies version and my casual moviegoer version. I prefer the first, since the movie's definitely meant to use fantasy as a way to catalyze conversations between AFAMS/Black Africans about the slave trade, cultural embrace/rejection, how black folk can reproduce white supremacy, ignorance etc (IE, Killmonger used scarification to memorialize death when that is, in fact, a type of body modification about beauty).... etc. I'd honestly say more, but, I've learned since my time here...

But anyway, I've crushed so hard on MBJ for years it was great that his big reveal carried that kind of excitement that used to follow "evildoers." So well done. But Killmonger definitely should have read some Audre Lorde, smh...   Shoutout (in a vacuum) to folk I've seen around Atlanta running the gamut for this film and shoutout to the High Museum in a very important scene about racist cultural imperialism and shoutout to that white curator who probably capped as an art historian whose whiteness is parodied and just did.not.get.it. Shoutout to art interpretation needing more relevance.

The Russians have to be stateside or in an extraditing country for arrests to be made. Unless they're somehow in custody and that's slipped in reporting?

LOVE Blondie now btw. I'll nab some of the tracks you're listening to once I'm stateside. Germany's brutal with music.
