Saint's Row 2 is awesome but the PC port is quite bad, unfortunately. If you do give it a try check out the Gentlemen of the Row mod, it offers a bunch of bugfixes and also adds in tons of customization items and other goodies.

Shadowrun Dragonfall Director's Cut got a massive price cut on Steam right now, you should get it.

Shadowrun Dragonfall, Director's Cut:

Started.
Got scared at the skill select screen and closed the game.

To break the game, choose a Elf, pump Quickness, Dodge, and Rifles. Congratulations you can now one-shot anything from halfway across the map while never getting hit, ever. Though it does take awhile to get to that point.

If you want a good build that isn't quite as OP try some sort of melee build or mage. Decker is more useful than the vanilla game but still not that great.

Favorite FF game: FF5, job systems own.

Least favorite FF game: FF2 by far. At least 13 has a functional battle system and with 8 you can just break it over your knee.

Favorite FF dungeon: Not a clue, I don't really remember dungeons at all.

Favorite main character: Terra...I...guess? Man this series has some shitty MCs.

Least favorite FF dungeon: Pick a dungeon from any game in the series that has teleporting puzzles or forces you to split your party.

Favorite final boss: Kekfa, I guess, the gimmick is okay and the design is neat.

Favorite FF game plot: FF6...I guess. Plot is not this series' strong suit.

Favorite weapon (Can list more than one): No idea

Game you use the most status in: FF2. Yeah you have to grind for it but you have to grind for everything in that game, and Frog will wreck everything, including the final boss.

Game you use the least status in: Are we just counting negative status here? If so then FF1, since most of it's utterly worthless.

Game with the best challenge: Meh.

Game you've replayed the most: I don't think I've ever replayed a single game in the numbered series. Huh.

Game that has aged the best: FF6, sure.

Game that has aged the worst: FF9, my god.

There are spoilers because I don't give a shit, the plot isn't very good anyway. So you say you want a revolution, well, you know... I think they got some scenes changed around after they recorded the voice acting and neglected to fix that. One second, Booker is all "Yeah Fitzroy is needed because Fink hires goons like me" and then not the next elevator conversation they're talking about how Fitzroy and Comstock are the same type of leader... which would make sense after it became clear that Fitzroy was going to kill you because the Booker in the universe you travelled to was a martyr for the revolution (god that is so bad) and she needed to keep the narrative uncomplicated to keep her revolution going, but absolutely nothing happened to change Booker's opinion between those scenes... unless just the fact that she's leading an attack was the reason? God whatever don't care, I'm going to assume it was a mistake in editing.

Well, you see, Comstock oversaw an oppressive racist regime that brutally exploited an underclass based on white supremacy and jingoism, while Fitzroy started a revolution to overthrow said regime where some people died, so they're basically both Hitler.

Who the fuck were you playing to get that much science?

When you play co-op on Immortal tech research moves extremely fast, you don't even have to pick a science civ.

Civ 5: What year is it? Actively had to prevent myself from playing the game at all yesterday because I needed to be rested for work (#responsibility), but this weekend? Ohhhhhh, this weekend is totally blown on this game.

I've played about 5 games now that went past 10 turns and... well, I keep playing with Laggy and we keep winning before I see any of the endgame content. #Laggytoogoodatgames

Spoiler: The endgame is you fighting 3 civs at once while Laggy dicks around on another continent wonder whoring. </bitter>

If you wanted a true genocide ending you should have allied with Elijah in Dead Money (presumably your character's first action post-epilogue would be to kill him as well)

Were there barbarians or enemy troops around when the prompts started showing up? The game will stop whatever they're doing so you have the chance to move them out of harm's way, even if there's no way they can actually reach your dudes.

« on: December 21, 2013, 06:10:59 AM »
1. What are you doing for Christmas/The holidays in general?

Gonna watch my nephews open their presents, then eat a lot

2. When did you find out that Santa isn't real? (Spoiler for Grefter: Santa's not real.:( )

7-8ish

3. Is there anything you want for Christmas?

I need a new headset for my computer, also been looking at getting a PS3 cheap

4. Do you enjoy Christmas music? Why or why not?

Like most music there are some good songs, a bunch of mediocre ones, and a few truly terrible songs.

5. Christmas is less than a week away. Are you expecting to get a White Christmas?

Almost certainly yes

6. Do you drive? If do drive, can you drive manual/stick or just automatic?

Yes, but just automatic

7. The year's almost over. Did you have any goals you set for yourself at the start of 2013, and did you meet them?

I really don't set personal goals like that

8. Do you have any resolutions/goals for 2014?

See above

9. What was the best new book/game/piece of media you consumed this year?

Book: The Lies of Locke Lamora

Game: Hotline Miami

Piece of Media: Breaking Bad, I guess?

10. What would you rather receive: A large but not giganic sum of money, or an all expenses paid trip (This includes paying your rent back at home) around the world with one other person of your choice?

The money

11. Do you enjoy the weather this time of year, or are you ready for spring to start? (Flip this for the godless heathens in the southern hemisphere)

Considering it's freezing rain outside, the latter

12. Going to do anything special for New Year's Eve?

No, but that's not set in stone.

It's true in many animal species including humans: large, secure populations feel less desire to reproduce.

Can I get a source for this?

Also if anyone's interested in reading more about the problems the youth of Japan are facing Shutting Out the Sun by Michael Zielenziger is a good explanation of things like the hikkomori phenomenon.

Hey new civ 5 players, the Brave New World expansion is on sale at Newegg for 9 dollars
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832205116

It says it's a code for the Mac version of steam but it works on regular PCs just fine.

Coupon Code: EMCWXWW235

Since it's Prince you can probably conquer the world with Keshiks no problem, just keep in mind they will eventually obsolete if things drag on too long, so have a backup plan and don't neglect science too much. What speed are you playing on, anyway?

Also do you have all the DLC or is this vanilla civ5?

Civ V: Gold edition (includes all DLC except Brave New World) is on sale for 12.50. Brave New World is on sale for 20 bucks. If you like 4X games at all I highly recommend it. It's a flash sale so it's only available for few more hours.

Also there's a fan patch that fixes a lot of the bugginess and crash issues, I don't have a link but it shouldn't be too hard to find.

The dark energy thing was what the original plot ending was going to be about, the reapers were trying to stop it or something. It wound up getting leaked so they changed it.

The Great Gatsby: There's always a lighthouse, a man, and a city...

Booker believed in the bloom lighting, the steampunk future that year by year becomes more over the top racist. It eluded us then, but that’s no matter—tomorrow we will shoot faster, search more trashcans for food. . . . And then one fine morning—
So we beat on, mouse cursor against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the last checkpoint.

Kind of a shame you get him without much chance to do anything with him, but I guess it's not like you could reasonably take him into any populated areas.

Actually he originally was supposed to be a much earlier recruit, if you hack him into your party earlier there are a lot of character specific lines for him. Taking him along on Tali's loyalty quest is rather amusing.

Mass Effect 1 DLC: Shatter the sky is a pretty fun mission and has payoff in the later games, I would recommend it if you have the money to burn.

Mass effect 2: In addition to what snowfire said, Lair of the Shadow Broker is pretty damn good, especially if you choose to romance Liara. Arrival sets up ME3 and has an interesting stealth section but is otherwise skippable, also the ending is lame.

ME3: Leviathan is ok. Not really worth the purchase unless you're a diehard fan. Citadel is fucking awesome, buy it if you're at all interested.
