Nel (SO3) vs. Cecillia (WA1): Whatever.
Judith (ToV) vs. Riviera (Growlanser 2): Now THIS is a finals match. Gotta go with Judy though. Anyone who manages to show that much skin and be *graceful* deserves the win. Also Hairpins.

Godlike:

Myria (BoFs) vs Brahms (VPs): Tend to think 3 can take him down with magic in time.
Luca Blight (S2) vs Melfice (G2): I guess... silence works?
Indalecio (SO2) vs Isolde Schelling (MK): Break hype aside, she gets a head start and the speedy death is kinda ridiculous.
Malik Benedict (WA3) vs Lady (SH3): Boom.

Heavy:

Deamoned (BoF5) vs Lezard Valeth (VPs): This match makes Pyro go "GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Nicole Mimi Tithel (MK) vs Fogel (OB): I guess?
Geddoe (S3)  vs Arnaud G. Vasquez (WA4)
Worker 8 (FFT) vs Pamela Ibis (MK): Damn it. Oh well, we can try again in 3 seasons~

Middle:

Kresnik Ahtreide (WA4)
vs Cagnazzo (FF4): Haste healing.
Palom (FF4) vs Odessa Silverburg (S1): OHKO. Odessa's damage is badass at the end of her stay, apparently.
Bowman Jean (SO2) vs Seifer Almasy (FF8): Big huge massive "whatever" here. I guess PC temp Seifer can beat him with No Mercy.
Domingo (SF1) vs Kyra Tierny (PS4): Upgrade already.

Light:

Anri (SF1) vs Tia (Lufia 2): Anri has a solid OHKO to *average*.
Milon (FF4) vs Gijimu (S2)
Bernadette Egan (S5) vs Cyan Garamonde (FF6): This is amusing.
Roger S Huxley (SO3) vs Porom (FF4): A hearty "whatever" from me.

Godlike

Izanami (Persona 4) vs Ghaleon (Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete): Chaos Shield, yeah.
Persephone (Wild ARMs 5) vs Profound Darkness (Phantasy Star IV): She may just OHKO the first few forms before they get turns? And then the damage advantage against the last form can carry her. Eh, I'll just nod smile and move along.
Levin Branton (Wild ARMs XF) vs Empyrea (Dragon Quest VIII)

Heavy

Angeal Hewley (Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII) vs Fei Fong Wong (Xenogears): Not... sure.
Roddick Ferrance (Star Ocean: First Departure) vs Zera-Valmar (Grandia II)

Middle

Teddie (Persona 4) vs Alma Beoulve (Final Fantasy Tactics): Can just run her out of offense at worst.
Viola (Eternal Sonata) vs Ryudo (Grandia II): Roughly the same speed, but Viola can just Hawk Eye her first turn and pass the remainder to make her second come quicker and strongly lap him. So she wins even if Ryudo goes first.

Light

Tricia (Soul Nomad & The World Eaters)
vs Augst Henriksen (Wild ARMs 4)
Tony (Wild ARMs XF) vs Malak Galthana (Final Fantasy Tactics): I got nothing.

1779
Aya (PE) vs. Nel (SO3): Aya Brea is pretty good.
Terra (FFs) vs. Cecillia (WA1): Neither should be here. Dissidia Terra is nice but not that good. Still like Ceci's art.
Lyndis (FE7) vs. Judith (ToV): HAIRPINS.
Mitsuru (P3) vs. Riviera (Growlanser 2): Sadness.

Geno vs Celia (FFT): Meh.

Actually Flay's damage after Raiden Charge is pure lightning element and no longer cares about physical resist (as opposed to certain enemy elemental/physical moves which still smack into Physical Immunity.

(relax a little Meep)

What Tal is saying is that simply being ITD/ITE isn't enough to excuse beating Pamela's physical immunity, which is perfectly reasonable (irrespective of evade or defense, if an attack is physical it WILL fail against her). The only real discussion is whether Work is physical or not, which apparently it isn't by some other mechanic that has nothing to do with being ITD and ITE. As for relying on PA, well IIRC staff whacks are MA based and are clearly physical, no? Same is easily true of Work but it's just non-typed.

Trying to argue that a clearly physical attack that simply was ITE/ITD beats Pamela's immunity isn't something I (or anyone else I think) would agree with. Sadly for our ghostgirl Work is apparently non-typed.

K-ON 5:

Okay this show just went from "Enjoyable" to "HELL YES!!!" in one glorious episode.

Writeup Graveyard / Arnaud (vs. Geddoe)
« on: May 02, 2009, 02:51:02 AM »
Two powerful mages fighting it out in a battle of magic. In a scenario such as this, the size of a man's muscles have no effect on the outcome. It's all about the mind, and Arnaud (as always) can boast of the advantage in that regard. Geddoe's lightning magic is ineed frighteningly powerful, but Arnaud's magical manipulations are more effective still. Arnaud can make time his tool with Slow Down to run circles around the one-eyed man, can cure any insomnia Geddoe may be having (and then kill him) with Sleep, and can even reflect one of Geddoes' mighty lightning magics right back into his face. Magical melees are won with things from the neck up, as Geddoe is about to learn the hard way.

Reimi wasn't harmed in any way there. Meep is just making an erroneous assumption.

CLAMP gave us CCS, so I can't really complain.

Definite: Non-Souji PCs.

Sure: The Killer, Ameno-Saigiri, Izanami

Not sure on Souji and Kunino Saigiri. Souji is a bit of a mess with what he can do (inheritance, etc...). Kunino-Saigiri kinda feels outside the norm for ranks. (Ameno-Saigiri is Necronlike but gets enough and is a DISCO EYEBALL). Granted HIPPY JESUS is pretty up there for uniqueness too but might offend random people, you never know.

Divisions are a bit of a curious but the PC cast is all generally a shade of High Middle? Lots of plusses going for them in general with equipment and Endure and generally nice skillsets.

Killer = Middle of some flavor I'm thinking? Ameno Saigiri = decent Godlike. Izanami = High Godlike.

Hayate no Gotoku season 2:
H-I-N-A HINAGIKU! BONSAI!

What? It's not like there is much to enjoy about the show.

K-ON: Awesome ED. Show itself is moderately fun in a complete timewaster kind of way.

Valkyria Chronicles: Episode 1 has problems deciding on a tone. I can't tell if it is trying to be serious because Alicia's actions are anything but...

Lymle gets points for being almost likable past the 1/2~2/3rds mark where everything just kinda goes down the toilet plotwise? I wasn't really partial to her.

Reimi gets points for Chun-Li cosplay.

Bacchus is the most Sci-Fi styled character in a Star Ocean game to date, yeah.

Legend of Heroes 3:

Generic and basks in its genericness. Other than that I have no complaints. The battle system isn't really realized in the maingame but the side missions that are periodically offered give you an opportunity to see what happens when you go up against a challenge and have to struggle for a hard-earned victory. That and a certain boss fight against an enemy team with a CHEATING WHORE of a status move made for several fun times. Abusing the game's "Cancel an enemy action and deal massive damage" styled limits and still being on the edge of your seat is fun, even though it only happened like 3 times total.

Oh and this game has the most broken encounter control ever bar none. At some point 1/3rd -1/2 of the way through the game you can easily get an accessory that makes every enemy on the field run away from you. Not only does this mean you can stay out of combat with no effort on your part, but if you DO want to fight (for grinding purposes or whatever) then you will always have an Ambush on the enemy. Hell yes.
