Hey mc, there's a new version of Desktop Dungeons with a new mode where all enemies apparently have boss multipliers even when they're not level 10 (which means goats are insane)

I would be interested to see how you break it.

Is there really a new version coming soon or was that just a joke comment a while earlier?

Sort of an idea if you ever decide to create a new version, but how about giving some choice Heavy Armour pieces MA or MP bonuses? There's some precedent in other Ivalice world games for that (Magepower Shishak or however you spell that)

Yes I know Genji does it, but that's a limited end-game EQ. I was thinking more of the period of time before Golden Hairpin but after the part where Heavy Armour Monks stop dominating.

It gives Heavy Armour some additional usage if you drop the 450 JP or so that it costs into it and makes Heavy Armour more useful. I think I read that you didn't want to do a complete rehaul of Heavy Armour because a whole bunch of game balance revolves around "Hats and Robes = gud", but some help given to those lame pieces of HA which only adds like 10 HP over its predecessor might be nice.

As far as the support slot, I think MA Up and Short Charge will still be dominant, but Equip Armor could become a sort of ghetto MA UP in the same way Equip Axes currently is this way.

Though even if that doesn't happen I kind of want to read from MC what that would do to the game anyway.

The physical carrier in Vanilla is Ninja, not Geo.

Yeah, I didn't quite make myself clear. I was basically saying the only other competitor for carrying Magic-based skillsets is Geo, although some people might consider it a member of the "Physical" classes. Basically the argument was that caster classes didn't serve their purpose well, but in my experience, they serve their roles MUCH better than the physical classes that I mentioned (Knight/Archer/Monk)

Heck, come to think of it, I think we can add Samurai to the list of "Physical classes that doesn't do their jobs properly" for the bone-headed move of having a MA-based skillset on a class with terrible MA multipliers. Casters really have the better skillset and class unless you want to bring in Orlandu or something.

I've been meaning to ask, how much has Move-Find Item (or rather, the maps) been improved? Are there any particular "If you get this M-F item you will have a tremendous advantage for the next X maps or at least save you some time poach farming!" or just more elixirs or something?

-You're right- Draw Out, Summon, and Math Skill were amazing- but their classes, not so much. They all seemed fairly frail and the CT for certain spells was way too high, causing them to be midcharged unless you had Short Charge or the like.

Mmm, I don't agree with this. Black Mage is THE class you go to for any sort of magic-carrier because of its obscene MA multiplier, no question asked. The other carrier is Geomancer, which you can class as "Physical" maybe and that one is debatable amongst a number of people.

Almost all other mage class are at least usable with their own niches, for example Summoner being slow actually being sort of useful due to the CT system and Oracle can stick stuff.

On the other hand, for physical classes....

Monks - Terrible EQ choices and a skillset that's usually overhyped.
Archer - Charge longer than most casters, crappier results.
Knight - Takes decades to accomplish stuff, almost unusable without a ranged weapon like Gun, Heavy Armour sucks in FFT and doesn't really tank as well as you expect.

Really, physical classes for generic takes it up the bum if it wasn't just for one class - Ninja. I probably missed some physical classes which shows just how unremarkable they are.

Yeah, I don't mean to be rude, but the stuff that people uses to gamebreak in FFT are the magical skillsets like Summon, Draw Out, Math Skill etc... about the only good Physical class is Ninja. Heavy Armor Monk gamebreaks Chapter 1 and then drops off like a rock in usefulness.

Even with Special Characters included (and they mostly suck) just adds Orlandu to the Physical side. Magic side gets Beowulf though so it kind of even outs, and Reis can be either while everyone else is pretty much crap in comparison.

I don't know if my copy's glitched, but Binlor doesn't spawn ENDISWALL on-worship like the wiki says it does;

I think he only spawns it if it doesn't already exist. If it does, even if it's ferreted away behind 3 level 9s or something, he won't spawn it at all, which I always thought was dumb (he should at least transport the glyph over, same problem I have with Annur)

34
So what do you think are the best classes to do Gauntlet Mode in? I'm at level 10 right now and it's getting kinda painful.

35
Can I assume that save files from whatever the previous "official" version off Romhacking.net will work with this new version?

36
I don't know if I like the whole "multiple versions" idea (sounds kind of confusing to pick an "ideal" type to play) but it seems interesting enough, I'll wait for the new version then.

37
As someone who put a playthrough of Eviltype on hold (not because I don't like it or anything, just that I had other stuff on my plate), what should I expect from this new version and what's an estimated release date?

38
I kind of wanted to see the new ASM reaction command but I guess that isn't happening.

39
Done.

Well free to mirror on some other filesharing site because I realize rapidshare kind of blows.

I tested the game on my PSP and it works, but like I said, I don't have multiple PSPs to test multiple firmware out so I can't help anyone who can't run theirs.

Edit: My firmware's 5.00 m33-6 if anyone's curious.

Nothing special. Just patched the ISO, then converted using PsGUI300beta. Firmware compatibility might be an issue though, but it works on mine so.

LFT is one of the only few FFT mods I managed to get working on the PSP (1.3 works too. Pretty much everything else crashes and I don't know why.)

I have a "barebones" version of an eboot for use for PSP, which makes me icky about uploading THAT version. If someone can design some graphics, a 144x80 32-bit PNG file for a thumbnail icon and a huge 480x272 32-bit PNG file for background image I can make a more polish version and upload that.
